I frequently come to this gym to workout because it is less crowded than let's say the Naperville location. Clean facility with all new equipment for use! The other reviews are still accurate. I walked in and the person behind the desk was standing there buried in his cell phone. Never once looked up, greeted me, or cared if I scanned my membership. That was commented on numerous times before as well as bags on the floor. No sooner do I start working out then a girl puts her gym bag (see pic) on the floor and works out on several different machines. You certainly get what you pay for, so it is actually difficult to complain, but I will anyways: First, there are either 4-5 kids working or zero kids working - but there is virtually difference between the two scenarios because nothing happens either way. I go almost daily (only because it is close) and can't tell you how many times I've walked into nobody working in the entire gym. Moreover, there is a special needs girl who absolutely works her but off cleaning that place and is so friendly, while 4-5 others sit behind the desk on their phones and offer zero help to her. And not that I would anticipate any of those working to engage in a discussion about Shakespeare, but some tacit acknowledgment that I walked in would be appropriate. Second, the place is beyond dirty. Most people will clean their machines when done using them, but they can't clean the floors, ceilings, mirrors, bathrooms etc. Just the other week I arrived during 90 degree heat and the doors were propped open. Why? Oh, no big deal, sewage was only leaking from the ceiling. The entire place smelled like a port-a-potty at one of those days-long country music festivals. Third, nothing works. Things break, and they are never fixed. Days turn to weeks into months. Fourth, there has to be some sort of policy regarding minors - and in particular the under 14 crew. I have zero issue with them working out, but perhaps a dedicated time would be better. Dont get me wrong, I think it's great they are working out, but the reality is that most adolescents really don't know gym etiquette or how to lift in general. You can find them spending 45 minutes on one machine and complete 5-6 sets - because they need 10 minutes in between to twiddle on their phones. It's really isn't sustainable for adults how may have limited time. Finally, the Wheaton location is seemingly filled with a bunch of asshats who think this is Gold's Gym in Venice, California. My wife has been harassed and even touched. I've seen underage girls be harassed or at a minimum stared down by these creeps. I've even had guys get aggressive with me and I don't interact with anybody, nor am I necessarily by appearance somebody you would naturally want to pick an unprovoked fight with. The dearth of quality gyms in Wheaton makes Planet Fitness an option if only because it so close to my house. But, honestly, if I had to guess given my experience in business the owners are "running it hot". They want to pump up the membership revenue, spend as little as possible to maintain the place, suck out every last penny and either sell it to some sucker and close the doors. Just IMO read more

Still issues - 8 of the TVs are out, many broken equipment stations that are not fixed for multiple weeks. Men's bathroom - many time soap dispensers empty and the toilet paper is not in the dispenser sitting loose on top and yet the staff find the time to sit on their phones and it's 50 -50 chance you get greeted or they wish you a good day. This location was awful when I was there . The other reviews are very true . I cancelled my membership with the staff in person and they still charged my credit card monthly . When I found out and went again in person to resolve , they were super apathetic and didn't even acknowledge the mistake . The staff member just repeated a company scripted message over and over until I left and I received no refund for their mistake . It was incredibly odd and frustrating . Bathrooms could be a little cleaner but it's about the same at any gym that is actually used. My only complaint really is the clock on the wall is 10mins behind and I almost missed a work call because I had my phone put away and was relying on that clock lol... not a huge deal, but would be a simple fix, one would think. Out of all the PF's I've been to (throughout New Mexico, Indiana, and Illinois) - this one is my favorite! The equipment is in mint condition, and it looks like all the cardio machines were recently updated. The gym is extremely clean. And for some crazy reason, it's never overwhelmingly busy!!! Which is pretty unbelievable. (I think there's just too many choices in the area.) So my husband and I can show up at anytime and there's a free stair master (that's my BFF.) I like their board near the front desk to hang your keys, and I really like the facility setup as far as tanning bed locations to cardio equipment to machines. (Also, the bathrooms are always pristine and clean and smell great.) I also can't help to notice all the negative staff reviews, but I have yet to run into any staff attitude issues, so can't say I agree. Right now I just attend with a member, and use the visitor privilege, but would def consider having a membership of my own some time- I love coming here! read more

We have been members for the past year. Since the club has reopened I am incredibly disappointed that the sign on the door is not taken seriously. See photo. While 80% of the members are respectful and masked on the way in and out, the other 20% ignore the mandatory masks and the employees don't enforce it tonight was the worst yet. If you say your going to make it mandatory then make it mandatory for all. So disappointing and frustrating. Poor management in place it appears. I went to the PF by my house intending to join. I've been seeing the advertisements about 25 cents down $10 a month in all Chicago land PF. I walked in and said " can I get information about your gym ?" The clerk looked me up and down and said " If you're here about the 25 cent down program , we AREN'T honoring that here. I know the ad says all of Chicago land , but not us. We charge $49. down , so....... " and he left it at "SO" No other word was said. I felt that I wasn't good enough or that he thought I couldn't afford it. He offered no more information just stood there pressing his lips and looking at me. I'm a curvy girl but have always been confident. I swear I felt so judge. They don't clean the lockers, a bunch of young kids work there and their way of cleaning is getting the floors wet with dirty water. The women lockers, dressing rooms, showers are always dirty. They just pick up garbage every once in a while. read more

There is no hand holding and there are no classes--regardless of marketing, you are really on your own. If you're ok with that, you will not be disappointed. The new location has excellent equipment, but the staff is not very friendly. They tend to be on their phones or be away from the front desks for long periods of time. Also, this is the second month in a row where they did not have bagels on the second Tuesday of the month as advertised. The women at the front desk said her manager was sleeping and she would call once she was awake to try to figure out if the bagels were being delivered. Many people seemed very agitated. read more

My daughter sent a certified letter return receipt requested to cancel her membership at this location on August 10, 2018. I have proof of delivery on August 13, 2018 from USPS. Called today August 24, 2018 and spoke with someone who sounded half asleep and very confused and was told they never received it and that her account was still active. SCAM!!!! I have proof that it was delivered and signed for. They deducted her August monthly charge on the 17th of August which made her account go in the negative and she was charged a $37 overdraft charge. After reading these negative reviews, it seems as though nothing has changed. Today, I canceled my membership because of unfriendly staff and feeling unimportant as a member. When I was leaving, another lady wanted to join. She asked the staff member and I heard the staff moan. I felt like telling this prospective member to get out of there. I've been a customer with the Planet Fitness on and off over the years, and usually when I cancelled the membership it was a simple sign and walk away experience. Because of my schedule I could no longer use the gym in the manner in which It was a value to me so I decided to cancel my membership at the Wheaton location where I was a member. To my chagrin I was hit with a $58 cancellation fee, which was explained to me as an owner based decision, and not a corporate policy. It never dawned on me to ask or look for a cancellation policy in the agreement, because I never had this problem before; and the staff member who signed my up definitely didn't volunteer to inform me either. Lesson learned I guess. So buyer beware. Watch for their annual and cancellation fees, and whatever else they're not disclosing. Bad sense is bought sense, and I'm out of $58. That being said, in the future I will no longer patronize any Planet Fitness. The cost, fees and the experience isn't the value they advertise. read more

I stopped in recently because I've been thinking of switching gyms. I asked if I could do their free trial day and they told me no because I have to print out the coupon online and bring it in. Ok, whatever. I already drove out of my way to get there so I asked how much the day pass is. $20! Twenty dollars to exercise for an hour at a small gym. Their highest tiered membership only costs $22 a month so that doesn't make much sense. My last effort was asking the girl if she could just show me around. I was told no. I couldn't even go past the desk without buying the ridiculously expensive day pass or having a membership. Terrible customer service. Obviously not signing up. read more

I don't recommend this club for a couple reasons. First, the hours are very unpredictable. It recently went back to a quasi-24 hour schedule and then without warning it was only open between 5 AM and 9 PM. Only thing was, nobody showed up at 5 AM. If the opener got there before 5:30 you were lucky. So basically this became an unusable club due to the uncertainty. Second, the staff isn't particularly engaged. They generally hang out by the front desk and talk to each other or use cell phones. One of the early morning staff would hang out in the mens' locker room and be on his cell phone. Not uncomfortable at all....... Finally, the upkeep isn't that great. It's fairly normal to come in, first thing in the morning, and find a locker room with dirty floors, lockers open with stuff in it, toilets without paper (you know, to wipe), and machines with old used paper towels left in the cupholders (yikes!). read more

I went to this location today and found the staff extremely rude. No warm welcome or nice greeting. One of the guys asked me what I needed and told him I needed to upgrade my membership since I live in two different areas. He had an awful attitude as if I was just an inconvenience to him and said okay hold on as he rolled his eyes. He is standing there with two other workers and they were all talking until one girl asked him what I needed and then he told her I needed to upgrade. She pulls me to the computer and says this isn't your home gym so you have to sign up there and they couldn't do anything about it. And I told her some reason the app wasn't allowing me to upgrade. I then had to call my home gym and explain the situation and they told me they couldn't do it over the phone and I had to try on the website. So this gym wouldn't even allow me to workout there. I left and went back in my car to try to upgrade my membership which I finally managed to do so but the least they could have done is let me workout. My home gym is extremely nice and is helpful and agreed with me that they should've of just let me workout. But instead of going to this location again I drove to Naperville location and they were so nice and helpful. I will never return to this location due to the rude staff. Don't work in customer service if you don't know how to act accordingly. I've been a bartender downtown Chicago for plenty of years and would never act that way!!
