The last 3 times I've gone here the staff is unfriendly and rude. Don't send a text that your order is ready if it isn't, and don't get mad when you're asked about it. If you don't want to work at a busy coffee shop, go find a job elsewhere instead of spreading your misery. My order has been wrong all 3 times. The coffee is good, though overpriced for what you get. I was staying in Cloverdale and this place was tops on Yelp. Had to check it out. They have outdoor seating in the front, and a cozy little yard outside with a small white picket fence, with both covered and uncovered tables. I enjoy asking the staff to order for me. It gives me a random option I would likely not choose. Maddie is the reason I do this. She recommended the green sandwich (pesto, avocado , sprouts , greens ) and a nutmeg soy latte that was absolutely delightful. It was the perfect start to the day. Great recommendation. Found myself in Cloverdale on a Sunday morning and was pleasantly surprised to discover this spot. Right in the downtown area the space itself is cute and clean and was bustling inside and out for a sleepy Sunday. I only ordered a cold brew (and dog biscuit) but the menu and food looked delish. I stopped on my way here with the intention to caffeinate myself with an espresso drink before heading to Anderson Valley, but changed my mind and ordered a matcha late instead. I wasn't aware that the matcha late would be sweetened with agave syrup, but I enjoyed the additional tinge of sweetness. Two years ago as we drove up north, all Plank was, was a pitstop and caffeine rush. Today, Plank is a mandatory stop each direction of going north and coming home to LA. I absolutely adore everything about this coffee shop from the location to the employees, the customers, the decor, the drinks and the delicious pastries! They have a wide array of fresh pastries to enjoy and it's true, you eat with your eyes first! We almost bought them out of all their pastries because they looked so delicious. Yelpsop's Fables: the adventurous armadillo returns One Sunday morning in late September, after a light evening's rain had saturated the surrounding hills, fields, and vineyards outside of Cloverdale, Maax the Armadillo arrived at Plank Coffee. It was not his first visit, but he decided it was time to return. As usual, Maax got a bag of freshly roasted beans (Costa Rica - Candelaria Estate, in this case) and a 1lb package of Plank's famous "Mama's granola." He also ordered a cup of Ethiopian coffee to enjoy at on outside table in the sunshine. A light breeze cooled his tiny body as people with dogs stopped by to chat while a musician at the table next to his strummed some plaintive chords on his guitar. The coffee was rich and refreshing but quickly was finished, so the armadillo decided to think "outside the shell" once more and studied the loose leaf tea menu, which was quite extensive. He chose a Japanese green tea, Jade Dew, which was served on a wooden tray and metal tea pot in which the tea steeped. The flavors were savory and sweet with bright herbal highlights. As it cooled, he read from his new book about the Finnish concept of "sisu" and thought about the next stops on his journey: wine tasting, hot springs soaking, redwood walks, swimming in the rain, dry sauna sessions, dream-filled nights, and long, quiet mornings lingering over coffee and granola for breakfast. The armadillo sighed contentedly, sipped the last of his green tea, and slowly turned the page. Moral: Showing determination, resilience, and grit doesn't mean you have to scowl your way through life with clenched teeth and balled fists. You don't have to retreat into your shell at the first sign of danger. You simply need to get out there and try something new. Bring a spirit of adventure to each little thing you do, even something as ordinary as your morning coffee, which sometimes turns out to be Japanese green tea instead. Tea Heaven! We were on our way to Mendocino from the Bay Area and made a stop to take a break and my oh my was it worth it! I have never been to a coffee shop that specializes in tea like Plank! Their tea menu is four pages (front and back)! They've got loose leaf teas in containers and freshly steep it for you. The teas average a $4 price point, but that's a steal considering the variety, quality, and service that comes with it! The ambiance here is very cool as well. My favs are the Caramel Lattes, Bancock, Honey Chai, and All their Iced coffees They used to use Flying Goat Coffee Beans, but now they have their own, Its a smooth and favorable. The Pastry person is Legit too. They make all their own creations and vegan selections. The even have Dog bones. The shop is small on the main drag, but its coffee and pastries are a big hit with the locals and the travelers. I make it a point to drive there when I'm fixen the need for a great latte. our last few visits there we have gotten a new treat called Chia Pudding. This comes in a 16oz cup with fresh blueberries at the bottom, a tray sits above with coconut, granola and a couple of black berries, You mix it all together and all I got to say is. Been here many times. Had a nice strong Mocha and a so-so avocado toast. They're working very hard to protect their people, which is great. The mocha was really exactly what I needed but the avo toast lacked any flavor and was basically avocado and greens piled on the toast. Wished there was some butter or something like that infused with some sort of spice mix. A very very appreciated feature was the plastic sheets put up to protect the workers and yet keeping the bathrooms open. This is a near to perfect coffee stop. Very fika with superb quality, freshly roasted beans, great baked goods, and the best almond milk cappuccino I have tasted. Definitely get a scone and an extra coffee to go before leaving! The coffee beans are roasted in-house (at a separate location in Cloverdale) and include both single origin beans as well as a proprietary espresso blend. The coffee of the day is made in French Press and brewed frequently as the day goes on. Seating areas by the front window are especially inviting, with plush couches and benches and lots of natural light and warm wooden surfaces to create a perfect coffeehouse atmosphere.
