Brunch/Lunch Review! It's been years since I've been to Plank Road but always enjoy their food offerings, outdoor patio, and overall atmosphere. When they started offering weekend brunch, it felt natural to revisit and try their new menu out. To start, I got the Espresso Martini which was definitely more Bailey's cream than anything. I didn't get a caffeine kick like I was hoping for. A lot of their brunch food items have a spicy element that deterred us from wanting to order. We ended up waiting the 15 to 11am so that we could order off the lunch menu. We started with the Combo Basket and Spinach & Artichoke Dip. I love that the dip comes with both fresh pita chips and toasted garlic bread. This is a must have appetizer! The Combo Basket was an array of fried food: chicken tenders, french fry medley, pickles, curds, onion rings paired with three sauces (bbq, ranch, honey mustard). If you go with a bigger group, this is an easy app to share. For entrees, I got the Garlic Parm Boneless wings. They were perfectly sauced and came with quite a few for the price. My husband got the Smoked Duck Salad which was tasty having fresh lettuce paired with the smokey, cold cut duck. My friends got the House Salad and Bourbon Bleu Burger. Sadly, the burger barely had any cheese on it which is my friend's favorite part. While the food overall was amazing, we sadly had a lacking experience in the service department. Courtney was our server and often missed revisiting our table for water refills, ordering food, or getting another round of drinks. She did mess up one drink order and rather than giving us the drink, she took it back which is fair. She lacked a pleasant demeanor and we left feeling off about the encounter. The kitchen also took longer than normal to push food out. While this may have been a bad day, it was notable by our whole group. I hope this element continues to improve as Plank Road overall is a great neighborhood spot right off the expressway! Tip: Weekend Brunch menu seems to be offered all morning but lunch food menu starts at 11am. Pro Tip: The bar has pull tabs for cash purchase. read more

My cocktail was nothing but a glass of soda; pale in color and no taste of any alcohol. The "half" chicken was all in one piece and had very little chicken on it. What was there tasted good, but it was very meager for $19.29. They should be embarrassed to serve that, especially for the price. Service was good. read more

They liked the steak and frites, kind a wished there was another option besides the fries with it. I got the shrimp pasta. Wow. I'm going back just for that pasta. I still think about it. lol. The drinks were just ok. Just standard bar drinks. It's family friendly and had a nice acoustic singer when we came. Dark lighting which I like. Always makes dinner nicer in my opinion. This place has a beautiful patio with gas fires to keep warm. The food is very good- try the French dip or the "Crack Pasta" with yummy grilled chicken. Service was super slow though, quick to be seated and then forgotten. Not a problem if you don't have a schedule to keep. read more

The atmosphere was the bigger attraction in comparison to the food. As a pub and grill, it is meant to focus more on the atmosphere anyway, so I will give it a higher score based on such. However, in terms of the food, I have to say it was mediocre at best. The mac & cheese tasted like normal pasta, and the caprese flatbread was not what I had expected at all. Caprese is supposed to have fresh mozzarella while the one I had didn't seem to have such, which in turn resulted in the scarcity of cherry tomatoes and basil. The balsamic glaze seemed to be very randomly spreaded. Once again, the atmosphere made up for it, but balancing everything I have to give it a 3 star. read more

Decided to venture out to Depere and after many recommendations I caved and tried this place. It's a bar and grill setting with indoor seating. I sat outside ready to get scorched by the sun and bitten by the mosquitoes. Upon my arrival I was pleasantly surprised to find that the outdoor seating is shaded by big beautiful trees and not a single mosquito in sight!!! It's a perfect setting to sit and sip a bevvy and enjoy some friendly company. Not only is the outdoor patio gorgeous but they have daily drink specials and happy hour, wow! I tried the chicken garlic parm wings and they were so tasty! Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly crisp. I'm new in town so I HAD to get the cheese curds. This meal did not disappoint!! We placed an online order for pickup: the po'boy, the crack pasta, and chicken strips. The sandwich and pasta didn't have a lot of flavor, and what flavor it had wasn't great. Just kind of... off? I actually felt awful after eating a quarter of the sandwich and ended up throwing the rest away. The service was fine, the atmosphere was fine. Went here after work to get of their amazing wings. Get the regular bone in wings extra crispy, you'll thank me. The grilled ones are also very good with all their sauces, garlic Parm, mild, and the teriyaki they have is out of this world. Lexi was our bartender and server out in the patio, and I must say, she is amazing!!! Always asking if we needed anything and super super friendly. We hope she is working next time we are there. I went back to Plank Road Pub and Grill to give it another try. Maybe they just had a bad day last time. I did have a bad experience last time but the owner Scott V, wrote below my bad review that he apologizes and wants me to have a 5 Star experience next time. I walk into Plank Road and the owner recognizes me from my bad review and tells me to leave; that I'm trespassing and if I don't leave immediately he will call the cops! I'm not making this up, right Scott V? Isn't that how I was greeted? Ignore any apology written from this guy!! Their latest menu update is a miss. Some of the new dishes do not make sense. $25+ steaks, & appetizers over $12, in the same place as a rowdy Wednesday night dart league / Thursday karaoke just don't work. Granted, the outdoor seating is nice, but that's seasonal. If I'm going to pay that much, I would like a strong (and dare say, local) wine list to go with my steaks, and fish/seafood. While the burgers and wraps are generally good, and the Mac/cheese is consistently good, a lot of menu items went up in price. The nightly specials are okay, but a happy hour menu might counter the new prices. read more

Took a coworker to lunch here today and was shocked by the bill. The Mac and Cheese was fine but for $13.29 a bowl we both assumed it came with a side like a salad like most pasta dishes so he asked for fries as his side. Apparently it does not come with any side and we were charged $6.29 for an appetizer basket of fries even though it wasn't that big and was brought out with his meal. I also have no idea what the heck the 3% Convenience Fee charge is for? We sat down and dined in so there was no online ordering, or curbside service. A local place I had not yet tried, was the spot for dinner. While space is kind of tight, the atmosphere was great. The waitress was very happy to serve my friend and I. My friend had the swiss mushroom burger with fries and devoured every bite. I had the mac and cheese with BBQ pulled pork. For me, the portion was really large. The pork went quickly as it was both moist and tangy sweet. I ended up bringing some leftovers home of the mac and cheese. Plank Rd. Has been an ok place to go. Service can be very spotty, and the bar usually is busy. I don't appreciate the crowd that comes here- not the fault of the establishment, but be prepared to sit next to unusual characters. They have increased the prices on everything on the menu, which is understandable, but the fee to use a credit card is ridiculous. The prices were high to begin with, now they are too high considering portion sizes are much smaller than they were. It's an okay place to grab a drink, but pay cash and be prepared for high food costs for small portions. read more

As if their prices weren't high enough, now they've added a 3% surcharge to your bill if you pay by credit card. Went with family for a special occasion and our bill was well over a hundred dollars, so tack on an additional 3% besides a 20+% tip (the service was good) and it's an easy decision to look elsewhere in the future. read more

Went to Plank Road on a Thursday evening. Sat on the patio. There were 3 of us in our group. There were about 6 other tables with several servers on the patio. After 15 minutes we flagged down a server since no one had been to our table yet. She brought some menus and then about 5 minutes later came back to take our drink order. We got drinks & then placed food order. Our meals came out along with our side salads. Would have liked the salads before dinner like normal. Overall, food was good, service could have been better. My wife and I met some friends here for lunch. My wife's burger was outstanding and my Ruben ok. An abundance of meat (which normally I love). The lunch meat type pastrami was all I could tasted. The fries were a hit. The waitress was excellent, she made sure we had everything we needed and kept our glasses full. The vibe is a typical bar. So for some little context, I've lived around the country for the last few years. Philadelphia, Grand Rapids, Las Vegas, Portland, pretty much on both coasts and some of the Midwest too. Since moving to the area, I've been trying a bunch of bars and pubs every weekend. And I think plank Road makes one of the better cocktails in the area. I love the indoors and the fact that it's so open and spacious, gives me comfort, without having to worry about bumping into people, especially during a pandemic. Outdoor space is amazing, with a lot of open area and a great place for a live band. All I've got to say is keep making those cocktails pretty good, and I'll keep coming back. read more

The Fish fry is the worst we've ever had,! There is a piece of butterflied Perch with twice as much breading than fish. In the first place, the fish is so thin it shouldn't be butterflied! The fries are a mix of regular and gigantic curly fries and waffle fries, not good either - make up your minds! The smashed potatoes were disgusting. I'll say no more on those. Stopped into this place on Saturday evening because it was near our hotel & it looked like a good place for a burger & beer. You seat yourself, which I actually really liked. The waitress was friendly and told us about the specials and what they had on tap. I ordered the mac & cheese and a beer and he ordered the build your own burger and a rum & coke. Drinks came very quickly, he said the rum & coke was on the strong side, but not too bad. The mac & cheese was really good; creamy with a nice crust of cheddar & bread crumbs with crispy bacon crumbles throughout. The toast planks were pretty good too, kind of like giant croutons, but not as hard. He really liked the burger, the patty was a perfect medium as ordered & the bun was soft, but not too soft so that it fell apart during the meal. Game Changer! Grilled "wings". You can order traditional fried wings or grilled wings with a variety of different sauces. (The grilled wings were actually drummies with a good amount of meat on them). Our server was slammed with a 20-top & a 16-top including our table and probably others - but she did what she could...I would say the service is why I only gave 3 stars. My friends had the Tenderloin Pot Pie which looked really good, a Sante Fe Salad that looked fresh and the Hog Heaven...so much pork!!! No one said they had a bad dish. I will return for the grilled wings for sure! Side Note - it was 98 degrees and humid today so we opted to stay indoors. Stopped for a fish fry on our way up north and it ruined our weekend. Atmosphere was ok, nothing special. We ordered the cauli wings for an appetizer and I honestly think these were microwaved; they were soggy and lukewarm. Ordered a Spotted Cow and it came in a plastic glass. Perch fish fry came next and they looked good, but with the first taste I knew they were over cooked and dull. My wife and I only finish one of the fillets and half the fries. We ordered chicken strips for my daughter and they were surprisingly over cooked too. An hour later, as we were driving north, my daughter got sick. Her and I were up all night with severe stomachaches... among other things. Spent the rest of the weekend caring for my daughter and chewing on Pepto. read more

Stopped tonight for our first visit. Friday night so the place was pretty busy. Overall a good experience. We ordered the baked haddock, which was quite good, along with the walleye plate that was just okay (too salty and small portion for the price). Server was friendly, definitely a plus. Music was too loud for a restaurant (hard to carry on a conversation), which detracted from the experience. Not cheap for Green Bay with $6 draft beers and their credit card service charge, but not unreasonable either and overall an okay experience. We won't rush back but would come back again. The food here is amazing! I sometimes go here on my lunch break with my buddies and the staff is always friendly. My go to meal is always the pork sandwich with the fries three ways. Unfortunately we did not have an enjoyable experience last night at Plank road. The food was not good, the service was mediocre, (she took my drink from the table and did not ask if I wanted another one, she never asked my son if he wanted another drink when his drink was clearly empty. We asked if we could order, that we knew what we wanted. and she said no and walked away), we were charged a 3% "convenience fee" for using a debit card (hey, work that into the price of your food--that's what a business does--they don't charge extra for paying with a debit card, that's dumb) AND the server added a 20% tip onto our bill without asking us. She just added it when she showed us the bill on her little handheld device. WTH? That is ridiculous. It is up to the patrons to decide how much they would like to leave as a tip based on their experience with the server and if they did a good job or not. You can't just add that on before the bill is even given to the patrons. And how could you change the tip to a different amount without pissing off the server at the moment. Leaving a tip should be done after you give the server the card and she comes back with the slip to sign and then you leave. That is the dumbest thing I have ever seen and quite presumptuous! When I made reservations I asked to be seated outside unless the weather was bad. They said sure. When we arrived no outside seating because of a class reunion. I'm sure the reunion wasn't a last minute thing. Very noisy inside but tables placed apart. I asked for no cheese and no BBQ sauce but got both anyway and had to scrap it off. I didn't get the cole slaw that comes with the meal, which I wanted. I mentioned these things to the waitress and her response was that she knew she put the order in right. No offer to get the cole slaw. My friend's pizza was burnt on the bottom. Not dark brown but black. She didn't want to send it back and wait so she ate it. I stopped for lunch based on reviews posted on YELP so I knew I was walking into a pug and grill/sports bar. That said... the service was not very good. The waitress was friendly but very slow. The bar/restaurant was not very busy, 4 at the bar and 2 tables with a total of 5 people between them. Ordered Philly Cheese Steak. Price was decent but the food was greasy and no flavor. The patio is nice, I am sure this is potentially a fun place in the evenings but would not recommend the food based on this stop. read more

We ordered a corporate lunch of chicken wings for 20 people earlier this week. We placed the order in advance for pickup. The food was excellent, the customer service was great, all around it was a very positive experience. The pickup time was scheduled for 11:30 AM and I walked in the door at 11:29 AM to find our order boxed up, bagged up, and ready to go! Bonus - 3 super generous patrons who were enjoying their lunch during my visit were kind enough to take a moment to carry our entire order out to my vehicle for me! That was super sweet! A great sports pub/grill. My favorite part is that they offer more than your traditional bar food. I ordered tuna flatbread and loved it! Fiancé got the steak Gorgonzola Alfredo and he thought it was good (I loved it!) We also got the lobster bisque, it was good but too rich for us. We both had leftovers from our meals so the portion size was more than enough. Service was very good as well. We will definitely be coming back. read more
