Extremely rude and disrespectful experience from the moment we walked in. My partner had never been to a Planned Parenthood facility before, so I explained this to the front desk staff. Instead of acknowledging what I said, the staff member rudely dismissed me and told her trainee she needed to speak directly with the patient. She then asked my husband if he spoke English and if he had ever been to a Planned Parenthood before--completely disregarding what I had just explained. After that, she asked me to step away so she could "only speak to my partner," and continued being very rude to him. We only came for one simple service, but this kind of treatment made the visit very unpleasant. We will not be returning to this location and do not recommend it based on how unprofessional and disrespectful the staff was. read more

Had an awful experience with a provider here today. I was denied emergency contraception (iud) on the basis that i had taken plan B and was 'probably okay'. I explained that i was likely ovulating and plan b has no efficacy during ovulation. She continued to deny me care and told me to wait a few weeks and take a pregnancy test, and then return for an iud later. I told her it had to be taken within 5 days for it to work as EC. I did not get a clear answer as to why i couldnt receive the iud. I then went to another location who got me the care i needed. It was incredibly frustrating and i plan on filing a formal complaint with planned parenthood against this provider for the misinformation and refusal of care. read more

WARNING! This planned parenthood location both deceived me and provided horrible quality of care. They misled me to do an additional unnecessary procedure on me. The cost of the appointment was several hundred dollars more than I was told it was going to be by someone on the phone prior to the appointment. Additionally, the MA in the room took her personal cell phone out during the exam which made me feel the most uncomfortable I've ever felt in my life. Multiple times I have asked for the manager to call me to discuss and no call back. I was ultimately forced to report them. The complete lack of transparency and accountability are outrageous. I used to be a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood and had given another location a five-star review. Sadly, based on this experience, I will never use them again and can no longer recommend them to anyone. Worst medical experience I've had in my life. read more

I'm surprised to see that this location doesn't have better reviews. I've been coming here for years because they offer services for free if you are under a certain income and as someone who had just moved out for the first time on their own after college, Planned Parenthood was a lifesaver. I always come here for my birth control shots, and every time I've been here the staff has been nothing but sweet and attentive. Even though I'm sure they're very stressed from such high volume of patients every day and people running late, they don't take it out on you and are courteous, efficient, and professional without being curt. Any time I've asked a question I got a very detailed and thorough answer along with suggestions for resources and anecdotal experiences to give me an idea of what I might be looking for. I've always felt very taken care of, and it's extremely comforting to have what seems to be an all or mostly female staff. From what I've seen they also typically seem to be women of color, and I love that because I feel like I belong. They've all generally made conversation and small talk while in the room, too, but today I went in for a shot refill and a pap smear and I had a really great experience with Christine. Her demeanor and attitude were just so bright and friendly and immediately I felt more at ease. I wasn't sure what to expect because my last pap was so long ago I'd forgotten, but she explained everything she was doing without me having to ask, which was a super thoughtful gesture. I didn't get to thank her because I thought she was gonna be coming back into the room after she left but I hope she reads this! Thank you so much; you're amazing at what you do and I wish there were more healthcare providers like you. read more

I had an appointment at 4:15 and I came in at 4:16, once i got there Nancy G and her other coworker janes or jenes, told me that because I came in late they're not able to take me in... My mom and I have been coming to Planned Parenthood since a long time and we never had a problem with that, of what I know the latest you can come in is 10 min... Do not make the mistake of booking your appointment online or via the Planned Parenthood Direct app like I did. This location will not honor appointments made online, and their staff will cite a "technical glitch with their system" when you attempt to check in at your appointment time. Even when you do make an appointment in person or over the phone, you will still have to wait the same amount of time as a walk-in. How many sick days off from work should this actually take?! I ended up having to come into this location twice, two days in row just to get my Depo shot administered. The amount of hoops I had to jump through just to get this done seems unwarranted. As an added bonus, the hand sanitizer bottle at the front desk was empty both days, despite me pointing it out to the front desk and requesting to be able to use some. I realize that everyone is short-staffed nowadays, but that's what technology is for! Why offer a mobile app to book online appointments if you have zero intent of honoring them? read more

I've been going to this location for years. It's the fastest and most efficient wait time I've experienced. Most of the medical staff is knowledgeable. I always ask a lot of questions. For the STD tests, they do swabs instead of urine tests. (I was told the swab tests are more accurate). For HIV, it's a blood prick. (Blood draws are a little more detailed and check blood levels, but the prick is still reliable and is excellent if you have small veins like me. I started going to this location cuz the Planned Parenthood in Pasadena was so problematic. I complained to a friend who reported them. There were so many issues with them, but every other clinic was outraged by their treatment. I'm gonna air out my personal info for your benefit... The Pasadena location refused to see me and give me pap smears unless I agreed to freeze drying my vagina and get it snipped! I respectfully refused, an understandable reaction. Because of that, my acct has been notated that they won't see me. Thank goodness cuz this location's so much better. They've never had an issue with me here. I recommend this location! Note: It's near the red line station, off of Vermont & Santa Monica. For drivers, you can park outside cuz it's in a plaza. read more

I'm posting this on both the West Hollywood and Hollywood locations as I am shocked at planned parenthood and their lack of care/ ability. The staff at these locations seem to be incompetent to people's health and care. I've now been three times to both locations. The first two times I was not tested for what I specifically asked to be tested for (BV). The second time I was there from 10:30-2pm and there was another lady who had been there longer than me and waited just as long. I waited and waited for the results and finally it got so bad and painful that I finally made an appointment and paid out of pocket $600 for labs and office visit at a proper doctors office. I'm currently unemployed and with no insurance and one of the reasons why I was using planned parenthood services. I called today to find out they didn't even test me for yeast or BV! After finding out I was positive through the paid for labs and doctor, I was given antibiotics in which case have waited and still feels as though it isn't fully cleared. Today I made the appointment at planned parenthood to once again check if it is still present and some peace of mind without paying another $600 out of pocket only to be told that because I was 8 minutes late because of the grid lock bumper to bumper traffic, trying to cross Vermont (thanks google)- they refused to see and test me. They even tried making it out like I was a walk in!! I explained how the last time I waited close to 4/5 hours only to not be tested for what I had and they brought me back quickly. I sat talking to one of the lady reps for 30 minutes in which I could have been seen quickly given it was ONLY 8 minutes of crossing the Vermont traffic and park, to be told repeatedly how they wouldn't see me and how they wouldn't have tested me for what I had called and made the appointment for and had some run around story of how the appointment made was wrong and the people needed weren't there. I must include that in this rather long winded explanation as to why they wouldn't see me - it was included that it was the end of the day and everyone was ready to go home! During this 30 minutes which is usually the length of time I've waited half naked to be seen, I could have just been tested and out the door.. I would also like to include that this woman had the audacity to tell me that BV doesn't lead to infertility and said "I'm not sure where you're getting your information from" and we spent a few minutes arguing as I know very well from not only doctors telling me but a quick google search will also inform anyone that BV leads to infertility when left untreated, I also have many friends who have experienced this infection and were also told the same by their doctors...Planned parenthood is currently leaving me left untreated and also incorrectly informing young ladies with misinformation. But seeing as she so arrogantly and ignorantly tried telling me I was wrong, here is pulled from AI- "If left untreated, bacterial vaginosis (BV) can increase the risk of serious health complications, including pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), which can lead to infertility, a higher chance of contracting other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like HIV, and pregnancy complications like premature birth, especially if pregnant; it can also potentially lead to infections after gynecological procedures like a Cesarean section or abortion" If planned parenthood is so incompetent after three tries of calling to get tested for yeast and BV and each time I haven't been tested and even told that the appointment I made wouldn't have tested me for it - I think you guys need to remove that you offer these services to young women who are expecting their health and care to be considered important and put first. Not tell them "well it's 3:30 now and it's almost the end of our day and everyone wants to go home". It was 8 minutes. I had been left waiting at least 4 hours the last time and wasn't even tested for what I very specifically and very clearly requested. When asked if I wanted to reschedule the West Hollywood location wouldn't see me for another 5 days! So I wouldn't be seen then and there and also you can wait another week basically at your location.. I also do not appreciate anyone telling me "we have other patients to treat and see" ?????????? Wtf am I?? I'm sorry but out of the four people waiting outside and two being men, with I would imagine, very different appointments needed- am I not a patient? At what point did I not become a patient that needed to also be seen? The condescending attitude from the entire staff at Hollywood from walking through the door, was highly highly questionable. And with the current administration, the amount of people out jobs, you think they'd be more grateful for still having theirs. Not being so condescending to a helpless young woman who repeatedly has looked for help. read more

I want to begin by saying planned parenthood is absolutely a godsend! I have been to multiple locations in LA and I've felt welcomed and supported by every location except this one. The women working the front desk were not very welcoming. The woman doing my blood work didn't even tell me her name and didn't look me in the eye once. The doctor was so short and rude. She made me feel very uncomfortable. She tried accusing me of missing a visit at a different location even though that information was incorrect. She was cold and and intimidating, she also threw my cup of water out with so much force that the water splashed back up at my face and completely drenched me. I'm a huge advocate for planned parenthood, this is the first bad experience I had. So I highly recommend the other locations in LA - all of them are very loving, supportive, and helpful, but maybe try to stay clear of this one if you can. read more

Every staff member I encountered was friendly and knowledgeable. I had been trying for an extremely long time to get my birth control implant replaced with my regular OBGYN but was repeatedly ghosted despite calling frequently, I called PP and they were able to get me in on the very same day (within hours!). I explained to the doctor that I was a little anxious as I can get woozy and it comes to pain and she was a total rockstar about it. She talked to me and kept a conversation going to distract me, reminded me to breathe and explained everything she was going to do before she did it. I felt valued and respected as a person and I appreciated how kind she was. I would definitely go back, this was top notch care. read more

Planned Parenthood wasn't my first decision but they do provide quick information on ways to prevent pregnancy and also forward their clients a little. But basically if you get pregnant you have to go to a doctor that works with pregnant woman. This company can only tell you if you are pregnant or not pregnant. They seem to be confidential enough. They offer a day after pill too . There is medicine for s.t.ds. the problem is we need to have incentives and promos and women have energy and can work. Refer to good companies for money! read more

I have been here 3 times for testing. Some of the nicest people. I just finished w Fatima. Sometimes she does the Van Nuys location as well, but she's absolutely amazing. Very polite and KNOWS how to draw blood without feeling it at all. Didn't even realize she stuck it in or took out the needle. Not only her, the whole staff is very chill and so nice. The last one who did my last checkup was just as sweet. It's 8am and they're too nice for being this early . I recommend this location. I love this location very much because it's close to where I live. The services they have to offer is great. I also love the nurses and the staff that work here most of them have a great attitude and I am saying this because at the location in El Monte the staff is terrible they need to adjust there attitude.
