I grew up in an environment that taught me to distrust Planned Parenthood; it was an institution I honestly loathed in my formative years. However, my political and socioeconomic beliefs have shifted significantly over the years, and now I feel I need to send PP a huge public 'thank you' for helping me last year when I was between healthcare coverage and was new to Richmond. One amazing thing about PP is their availability. You can so easily (and confidentially) book an appointment on their website for a time that works in your schedule generally within the week. I was in so much discomfort last year and really needed to see a doctor; I had an appointment within two days and the treatment was beneficial almost immediately. I visited again a few months later and again had an exemplary experience. The doctors on staff were great. It's been a while so I don't recall names, but the clinicians I saw were gracious and caring. They were also prompt, which was nice. And the cost was totally reasonable. Last month, I realized I needed my records sent over to my new physician at the very last moment. I showed up an hour before my appointment at the other office and was able to receive a copy my history on the spot. I so appreciated their help! I know this organization is highly contested in the political realm, but from a basic human standpoint, I think their work is stellar -- and necessary -- and I hope they can continue to receive funding to serve their population for years to come. read more

DO NOT TRUST THEM! And especially don't trust their billing department, including Nora, the financial coordinator! Incompetent liars! They quoted me at $280 for an IUD ($80 for removal of old device, $200 for the new Liletta.) Then the lady over the phone took my insurance information ahead of the appointment and said the IUD should actually be covered completely by my insurance. I was surprised, since I only had temporary (not ACA-compliant) insurance. The day of the appointment, I asked two additional staff at the office if my IUD was definitely covered by my insurance. They looked at me, surprised, and reassured me that I didn't have to pay anything. Six weeks later, I got a bill for $924! I immediately called their billing department and was forwarded to a woman named Nora, who is supposedly the "financial coordinator". I was under the impression that I could get a free IUD due to federal grants that Virginia PP had received, but was at the very least not willing to pay more than the $280 I was quoted. It turned out my insurance didn't cover the procedure as promised. But I didn't hear that from Nora. I left voicemails for her and continuously hounded the billing department about my case for 2 months! I asked them to contact Nora's boss when she repeatedly refused to call me back, but she refused. Then I managed to get a different phone number for a more central office and got someone there to contact Nora's boss. The very next day I got a phone call from Nora saying that my new bill was $385. Then Nora called back a few minutes later correcting herself and saying that my new bill was $285. Two months of lost sleep and constant phone calls! What absolute idiots! I primarily blame Nora for being incompetent, but the billing department's unwillingness to help was also atrocious. Do not trust this organization! Liars and morons! read more

So the guy that I was messing around with told me he had caught an std. nothing crazy, something that's easily taken care but none of the less, I went here to get tested and get the treatment I needed. Mind you I KNOW I have it because there's NO way that I can possibly not. I get tested at planned parenthood and it came back negative. When this happened I already felt funny about it like how in the hell could I not have it. So I followed up, went to a different doctor and it came back POSITIVE! Guys this is serious because had I taken their word for it I'd still have it now . Like its ridiculous!! Planned parenthood is sorry! I will NEVER go back ! Nurse Molly did not take my pain seriously after having a medical abortion. "Use a heating pad and take ibuprofen". Condescending and continued to act like I was faking. I was having a miscarriage that my body wasn't recognizing and was told by my midwife that I would need to have a D&C. The place she referred me to was going charge $1200 (that's with insurance). The emotional experience of the miscarriage was difficult enough but the financial burden would have added even more difficulty. My mother suggested I contact Planned Parenthood for the procedure. They were so supportive and sympathetic and I was able to have the procedure which was almost entirely covered through my insurance. They had even offered discounts and financial aid if my insurance didn't cover the procedure. I am so grateful for all of their help. The only issue I had was actually getting ahold of person over the phone. Every time I called I would be on hold (sometime for up to 10 mins) and then eventually would be connected with a voicemail. I eventually just ended up going to the center to speak to someone and get information. Other than that, it was a very positive experience and I am so grateful for the work they do in so many capacities. read more

I know, I know. You're not supposed to review Planned Parenthood. I mean, you can, but... Still, I'm reviewing. I've been there twice for things that are none of your business but should suggest that I am a healthy single woman you should feel free to ask out (if you're a dude), because I am on top of my health and not-wanting-to-have-a-baby-ness. The the online appointment-making is super convenient and easy. I've never waited long when I arrived on time, and the folks are pretty nice out there in the front. I even got to watch some Let's Make a Deal in the lobby. Bonus. I'd never watch that on my own. The nurse practitioners that I've seen have been good, and the doctors are top notch and personable. We're in there talking about our chick parts, and you need folks who have senses of humor while they're making sure everything is good under the hood. Two tips: There are fun-wrapped condoms in the lobby and the exam rooms. Take some! And, the parking lot is compact, so if you have a choice between the Hummer and the Geo Metro, go with the Geo. Still, I did see someone in a full-size SUV parking in there. It just wasn't pretty. And hey, you're a beautiful snowflake going to Planned Parenthood. Things should be pretty. read more

I had an appointment via Phone which was nice. The problem I'm having is getting through to someone over the phone to ask basic follow up questions that would take a 1-2 minute phone call. Unimpressed with the front desk or the call back voicemail box. I rushed off of work to drive to a LabCorp location and they did not have any information that was supposed to be sent over from PlannedParenthood. Such a waste of time. If only they answered the phone, the experience would of been different. And don't bother calling 4-5 times during the day, they still won't answer. This has been going on for almost a week and a half to get test done and to have the information sent to LapCorp. read more

The doctors here are patient and kind and take the time to listen to your concerns and provide the best medical direction possible. I get my birth control here along with my regular annual exams and I've never had anything but a five-star experience. These folks risk a lot to provide services other than abortions and it is often a thankless job. I appreciate all that you do and will continue to donate to the cause. read more

I had a great experience here, the wait time was around 20 minutes for me. i came at 9:30 my apt was at 9:45 & i was called back around 10:15 & left around 10:50. Didn't have to be there that long at all. Everything was comfortable & easy, they assisted me to the car and everything. read more

I had a very bad experience at this location. (1) They canceled my appointment with only a few hours notice due to... rain... (2) When rescheduling, they were rude, pushing me to call back later instead of helping me find a time that works (3) The woman on the phone was INSISTANT that I arrive promptly at my appointment time (what indication did I give that I wouldn't know to show up on time?) (4) Day of the appointment I arrived 10 minutes early. They did not open the office until 4 minutes after my scheduled appointment time and left me and several other patients waiting outside in the cold winter morning (5) I was not called back until an hour after my scheduled appointment time (6) They had not let me know I would need to provide a urine sample until after I was called back (Why not let me know via phone or while I'm waiting so I can drink a lot?) (7) They held my insurance card until I was called back (8) They discussed my reason for my visit including asking very personal questions in the main hallway (9) They are actually not able to do full testing there and in fact it is there policy not to recommend patients for certain kinds of testing elsewhere (this contradicted what I was told on the phone) (10) When I pointed out the contradiction and the long wait time I was given excuses Overall, my experience felt like an airline. No apologies, misinformation, long wait times, rude staff, no responsibility, and canceling because of rain. Just go to an urgent care center or your primary. Absolutely terrible service and untrustworthy. I've been getting treatment for transitioning and though I'm grateful I initially was given access to this treatment at a price I can afford, this location itself is terribly stressful. They have cancelled and rescheduled all four of my appointments throughout November, December and January to the point where it's been so long that they refuse to refill my prescription until I'm seen by them- which I CAN'T because they keep cancelling my appointments. It's never worth calling because you'll always be sent to an answering machine, the information you're given is never consistent and there's no communication across staff whatsoever, and majority of the staff have been terribly cruel and rude- especially considering what kind of clinic this is. Please do not use this location and go to another instead, it truly isn't worth the stress, frustration and disappointment. read more

My initial introduction with some of the staff was mediocre. However after giving the staff here a second glance I am nothing short of a impressed patient. Not only were the doctors welcoming they adjusted themselves to meet my needs. They are professional and knowledgable as ob/gyns. Dr. Klien and Dr. Falls are experienced doctors and go out of there way to provide excellent care for the patients. Although the clinic is small it is clean and organized. If they are not able to preform a certain test or treatment they will be able to provide the resources you need. They also followed up with me over the phone unlike most other places. I can assure you that if you are need of care or are without insurance give these doctors a try. You will not regret your visit here. read more

( found out she wasn't) but with her experience the nurses there were rude, unprofessional and ignorant..they were rushing her and were all talking about how they all couldn't wait to get off and some were talking about getting off early because they couldn't wait to party and get drunk tonight..how unprofessional is that!! I forgot the name of my gynecologist but she was really sweet and talked through everything with me. She was just amazing and I plan to go back there, maybe even making her my primary gyno because I never met a doctor like her and I just felt totally comfortable. I walked in there really nervous (one of the nurses could tell by my taking blood pressure), because I had no clue of what it will be like since it was my first time going to a gynecologist.
