I arrived around 7:45 am on a Saturday morning and this quaint cafe was nice & quiet. I was greeted by the gentleman behind the register who cheerfully took my order. I ordered an Americano with almond milk and #4 on a jalapeño bagel. I cozied up at a table near the window and my piping hot coffee arrived. It was perfect! Just the right amount of milk. The coffee smells so incredibly good as you're walking out on the street. I visited on a beautiful Saturday afternoon to have ice cream. I tried 3 flavors in a cup and they were equally delicious to where I couldn't choose one being better than the other. I had a mint chip, heaven (which was peanutbutter and vanilla bean-it was heaven) and mochacoffee. I walked around downtown San Carlos, to burn some of those calories, afterwards. I recommend this place because the staff is welcoming and friendly and they have an excellent product and services to offer. I'll be looking forward to going back soon. read more

Came to burn some time and get caffeine before our kids school event, we came because of the high reviews and the proximity. It's a neighborhood coffee place, locals are sitting inside and outside. I've never seen this before; super comfortable customers leave money on the counter and walk behind the counter to get coffee for themselves. Cappuccino: Milk was not frothed great and coffee was not good. Tasted like something you would get out of a machine with a button for "cappuccino" on it. breakfast bagels: These took really long to make, we ordered two and they took 20 minutes to be finished. These are made way faster at local donut places. Egg in mine was crazy hot like it was nuked in the microwave and super tall and hard to eat. We did like the toasted bagel, nice crispy outside and soft inside. As we were leaving we saw a customer pulling used coffee cup sleeves out of the trashcan, folding them back flat, and putting them back into the sleeves tray! read more

Update to my last review - I've come back to this place a couple of times since, specifically for the ice cream. The whole family enjoys coming here to get a sweet treat. They have lots of flavors to choose from. Ice cream is standard quality, my favorite is their Goofy Foot. They offer a variety of different sizes, including a kids' size which is still pretty sizable. Prices are reasonable and the staff (family owned) is always friendly when servicing us. read more

Local coffee shop with lots of seating outdoors and indoors. Inside is due for a renovation but is still cozy if you wanna sit with the friend. They play classical music at a pleasant volume inside. Vanilla latte is always solid and perfectly sweet. I prefer it over the other coffee spots in down town San Carlos (mostly chains). Minimum $5 charge for credit cards. Parking can be hard at peak hours. Nearby to many local businesses and sit down restaurants. read more

If you prefer a casual and cozy human experience, you will like this place. The servers are super friendly and will make sure you're comfortable and enjoying what you ordered. They knew the names and regular orders of several other people who came in while I was there. There are a lot of options for in-house coffees and snacks, as well as beans to take to-go for roasting at home. There is a decent sized parking lot out back shared by the businesses, had no trouble finding a spot midday on a Saturday. There are outlets and plenty of seating inside and outside. I work down the street so I go here for a cup of coffee now and then. I much rather go here and support local business than the other chain stores near by. Every time I come here, I either get a latte or a hot coffee. No complaints from me. I think each cup is good. Sometimes it's a little bitter but I don't mind too much. I have never had a rude encounter there as well. They ask if I need help and then they take my order. I think that's good service to me. I do recommend coming here for a nice mom and pop type of coffee shop. read more

I really wanted to like this place but my coffee was more than an hour old. Coffee should be changed every hour because coffee does get stale. My coconut ice cream from Mitchell's was also old. It had a cake like texture and tasted like old cottage cheese. I eat ice cream from the Mitchell's location as well as other ice cream places all the time, and this was definitely not the right taste/texture. The caramel came from the bottom refrigerator and had a funky taste to it, like it absorbed the odors from the refrigerator. I ended up throwing away both my drink and the sundae. I really hope they improve on both these things because I really want to support this local coffee house. read more

Used to come here weekly since I thought the service was super friendly but someone new was working today and told me my dog wasn't welcome so I guess I won't be coming back. Every time I came in the past with my dog the people working would pet my dog and tell me how cute and well behaved he is so I'm disappointed by the change in service. Excellent coffee to the point where i need to make sure I haven't had any other coffee before i get here so that I can taste the freshness. I have never had a bad cup here - but I also drink black coffee, so i get the full aroma and taste. No milk, no sugar. The staff is unfailingly polite and they seem to have a cult following with the retired locals. The ambiance inside is ok but the seating outside is great, good wifi, lots of shade and beautiful dogs walking by. Definitely a great place to hang out or get work done. read more

Called earlier this morning, inquired about their matcha green tea. I asked the lady who answered the phone about their sugar serving and she seemed surprised that there was an option. I clearly asked her if there was such a thing as adding less than 50% or very little sugar and she didn't seem to understand so she passed it along to another colleague. The colleague seemed not only irritated I was asking to modify the amount of sugar in my Matcha Green Tea order, she suddenly began to speak quickly to repeat my request and then just hung up on me. Nonetheless, I never went to this location this morning. There goes one less potential customer and for anybody else who who finds this review helpful. read more

If I lived in Redwood City this would be my go to spot for coffee. The owner made each cup with love! I wanted to try the toffee latte but opted for the blueberry latte instead. It was creamy, slightly sweet with a nice light hint of blueberry. They also sell Marianne's Ice Cream here! I'll definitely stop by again when I am in town! read more

Super friendly and warm atmosphere in the morning to grab a coffee with a friend and maybe a bagel :) there's an assortment of pastries and ice cream there as well if you so desire (because we're adults we can choose to eat ice cream in the morning). I had the vanilla ice latte and a #9 bagel which came with tomato, avocado, onion, cream cheese and sun dried tomatoes. Was pretty good and hit the spot for my early morning. My wife walked in here to get a snack and needed to use the restroom. Our other friend got a latte and the woman at the counter's vibes were super off. She very rudely told my wife that the restroom was for customers only and kept shooting us dirty looks while we waited for my other friend to get her latte. Great place! I honestly was having a pretty bad morning this day, but when I walked in I was met with a friendly smile. There was no rush to order and when I did, she was very sweet and made sure to answer any questions I had. This place is sooo lovely. I came here because I had just recently moved into the area and read great reviews about this shop. I will definitely be coming back every week to support such wonderful owners. I ordered the Iced Matcha Latte with Strawberries and the #2 Bagel (egg, cheese, bacon, and spinach). My boyfriend ordered the Acai Smoothie w/ Apple Juice and said it tasted great. What stood out to me THE MOST (and this is was sold me) was that the owner came up to us while we were eating and asked for our opinion on everything. I really liked the Matcha Latte, but I felt that the strawberries were a bit overpowering so I couldn't really taste the matcha. And he knew that! He asked me if I honestly suggested they add more matcha to the drink because he had felt that it needed a stronger matcha to milk ratio for a while. I appreciated that with all of my heart. He said he would remember to add more matcha for me the next time I came in. My heart! No wonder why so many people (while we were dining in) came in and out of the shop greeting the owners by name and ordering their regulars. This place knows how to keep their customers by personalizing every interaction. And for that, they have gained another customer 4life! Love! read more
