When I'm downtown, I don't always think about eating ice cream. But this evening was different. I passed an overly priced, but popular shop with an insane line. Their unusual flavors wasn't tempting enough for me to stand in the long line. I immediately remembered the hidden gem around the corner and so I made my way to Cravings. I've been coming here off and on for about 2 years. Their prices have only increased minimally since their opening. Small, cute shop, clean, brightly lit and friendly staff. They have little tables and little stools to sit and enjoy your ice cream. They're always willing to give you a taste of the ice cream when asked. A new flavor caught my eye, a sherbet and the server said it just came in today--champagne sherbet. It was amazing, refreshing and a palette cleanser. Just a small hint of tart, but very delicious. Definitely recommend trying it before they don't offer it anymore. read more

I kept seeing pics of the food from here based on reviews, and it looks so yummy in pics, decided to try. I got an ice cream sandwich and I didn't really like the cookie texture, I tried smores and chocolate chip. However, the price point is pretty okay all things considered. 10 dollars for 2 big cookies and a big scoop of ice cream. But the cookies I got were crumbly and kind of biscuity, not my preference. Disappointed, this was the biggest let down in ice cream history, since Thirfty's closed their stands down. So we were asked to leave before closing time and after patiently waiting in the shop for 15mins. This experience was bitter when it should have been sweet, I understand you have a closing time and if you plan to turn away customers the moment the clock hits 8pm, then at least let it be known, so we all don't stand there like fools full of hope. You do realize you turned away at least 10 people who were all standing in line, inside your shop, I don't know them but I'm writing this for them as well. Simply Ridiculous! And to the customer who thought they were being helpful, next time drink your shake and keep it moving you basically encouraged terrible service, so zip it! Zero stars for service, we have no clue what their ice cream taste like, maybe ask the a hole with the shake he might know, he seems to know it all. To Management, have a talk with your employees, maybe have two workers on site so this doesn't happen again and if they are trained to do this, then you won't last long. Also change your hours on yelp it says you close at 8:30p. We were in the shop at about 7:45p and waited until 8pm to be turned away with 7 other folks, check your cameras so you can see what disappointment looks like. read more

There's another ice cream spot nearby but they try too hard with the flavors. I love that this place has your standard ice cream flavors and nothing too fancy. Cravings in Redwood City was the perfect late night dessert stop for us. After a late dinner down the street, we were happy to find this spot open and conveniently close to where we parked. The service was great, friendly and welcoming, and the ice cream was fantastic. We tried the mocha almond fudge, strawberry, and vanilla, and every flavor was creamy and delicious. I will be 1000% honest, I was a little nervous about trying this place, but I was dead wrong. I don't know if the individual making it forgot, or if they stopped doing it altogether, but they should probably update the menu if it was the latter. Incredible customer service. All they WANT to do is help you make a decision. Great people work here indeed. A couple of tables were occupied. Not much space to sit in, but there is space outdoors. We got a Mint chocolate chip w/strawberries and a scorched earth marshmallow. The mint was a deep flavor and was some of the best we've ever had. We also got a Mocha chip shake, which was very rich and delicious. They use Loard's Ice Cream. I'm not familiar with them but it looks like they are based in Livermore. Cravingz is a great spot to get your ice cream and shake fix in Redwood City. They've just soft opened, but I can already see a bunch of things I can't wait to try. The infused ube ice cream was a refreshing and unique experience. They take the ube ice cream and put it on one of those cold ice cream platforms (the ones they use for rolled ice cream) and mix in Rice Krispies/coconut together, creating an interesting flavor and texture combo. I believe they also said they plan to offer rolled ice cream soon. Staff were friendly, very helpful and the decor is also pretty cute! Where do I even begin with this disaster? First off, your posted hours are a straight up lie. It says you are open until 12 a.m., yet no one answers the phone and when we show up, surprise, you close at 10 p.m. Update your hours or answer the phone. This is basic business 101. Walking in was already uncomfortable. Some guy on a first date had so much cheap cologne on that it was suffocating the entire room, but honestly that ended up being the least offensive part of the experience. The employee working clearly did not want to be there. She stood in the corner with her back turned, texting away, completely ignoring us like we were invisible. No greeting, no customer service, no effort. When she finally spoke, it felt like we were interrupting her phone time. Now let's talk about hygiene. Absolutely nasty. She used the same gloves to handle food and then went straight back to texting on Snapchat (she could use a privacy screen) without changing them. After that, once she put our shakes on the counter, she placed two straws down open and not even in the shakes, just sitting on the dirty counter. That alone should be enough to make anyone walk out. The floors were filthy and looked like they had not been cleaned in ages. The food was beyond mid. Overhyped, and completely forgettable. I could have made something better at home without even trying. The whole customer service experience is what ruined it all. This place needs new staff, actual cleanliness, and someone who knows how to run a business. This is not a hidden gem. It is a last resort. Only come here if everywhere else is closed and your standards are already low. read more

I'm lactose intolerant so I tried the only 3 options they had for dairy free ice cream which was cookies-n-cream, coconut vanilla, and cookie dough which cookie dough was the best and most creamy-like for me.
