Came for the first time on a Saturday night and had a wonderful experience. The cashier was so sweet, the store is clean and offers a pretty spacious seating area for an froyo place. There was constant foot traffic coming in and out but was not overly crowded or loud. They had all the popular toppings and flavors that you'd want. I would give Toot Sweet 10 stars if I could! The whole experience feels so nostalgic--like stepping back into the early 2000s. The froyo was amazing: perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. The fruit toppings were fresh, and everything was incredibly clean and well organized. The service was wonderful as well. I really like the self-serve setup because it lets you customize exactly how much you want and create your perfect combination. It's also very affordable, which makes it even better. I'll definitely be coming back to Toot Sweet--and next time I'm bringing my whole family! And I absolutely love the French touch in the name. read more

Toot Sweet is located near, but in a quieter part of downtown San Carlos. Parking is free and it's usually easy to find a spot even though it might be a block or two away. The place is bright and clean with ample indoor seating. Fro yo's hey day has come and gone but this spot still seems to always have a steady stream of customers. They have a good variety of flavors ranging from tart to rich and decadent. Toppings are your standards and it's all serve yourself. The texture is very smooth and light. Love this little yogurt shop. The yogurt tastes delicious. My favorite flavor is tart. And I like to top it with nuts. I can control how much yogurt I pour in the cup so some days need big pours and other days need small pours. It's a friendly easy stop in downtown San Carlos. Overpriced - definitely - but tbh, it's what you sign up when you go here, even if the "weighing at the end" backloads the hit and makes it more of a surprise. Asking for / proposing tipping for a 99% self-service establishment - in line with the times, but definitely: unwanted! Quality of the food: average, nothing special (I didn't especially like the plain yoghurt flavor - I always try that at any of these places). Personally, I'll only go back if my kiddo asks for it, and I'm kinda hoping he won't. If you didn't like it, take it as a one-time experience, and go to Yumi Yoghurt, Baskin Robbins, Haagen Dasz, or maybe Icicles. read more

NEGATIVE STARS. I'm writing this in support of my husband Anthony R.'s review and as someone who was present during the entire interaction. We stopped by Toot Sweet as we've done many times in the past, even back when it was Tutti Frutti. My husband, wanting to try a new flavor, took a very small amount of froyo to taste. He didn't like it, so he tossed it and chose another flavor. Innocent, right? You'd think so. But what followed was truly baffling. The man behind the counter confronted my husband as if he had committed theft. My husband immediately acknowledged what he did and even apologized, offering more than once to pay for the small sample he discarded. But instead of moving on like a reasonable person, this man continued to question, scold, and condescend to my husband--FOUR separate times throughout our short visit. He repeatedly asked questions like, "I don't know why you thought you could do that?" and "How many toppings did you put in your bowl?" as if trying to catch him in a lie or shame him. It was incredibly unprofessional and, quite frankly, bizarre behavior over what might have amounted to 10 cents worth of yogurt. What's worse is the way he treated my husband as if he were a child who needed to be lectured, not an adult who had already taken responsibility and tried to resolve the situation. Would he have berated a child the same way? Or was this just an unfortunate display of a superiority complex from someone who clearly values being "right" more than being kind or customer-focused? Varda (the owner) responded to my husband's review with a robotic and dismissive explanation, patting the staff on the back for their "professionalism" which is ironic, considering what we experienced was the exact opposite of that. It's disappointing to see a business completely miss the mark on accountability and compassion. Mistakes happen. People misread policies or operate based on what they've experienced at countless other froyo spots that do offer samples. Instead of handling a simple misunderstanding with grace, this place chose to humiliate a loyal customer in front of his pregnant wife. It left such a bad taste in our mouths that we will never be returning--and we urge others to do the same. Toot Sweet may still serve froyo, but the customer service has completely soured. A little empathy would've gone a long way. Instead, we got attitude, arrogance, and a lecture over a spoonful of yogurt. Do better. read more

If I can do 0 Stars I would! I've been coming to this spot since it was Tootie Frootie, but after today, I'll never be back under the current ownership. I came in with my pregnant wife to grab some fro-yo. I wanted to try the chocolate flavor, and since they don't do samples anymore, I put a very small amount in a cup to taste it. I didn't like it, so I threw it away and got a different flavor. Then the man at the front (possibly the owner) confronted me and asked if I threw it away. I said yes, and he started questioning me like I did something wrong. I told him multiple times that if it was an issue, I'd gladly pay for it, but instead of handling it professionally, he kept harassing me, talking down to me, and asking if I "understood the situation." I'm a grown ass man, I understand just fine. What I don't understand is how someone running a business thinks it's okay to treat people like that, especially when I'm there with my pregnant wife just trying to enjoy a treat. This place used to be a regular stop for me and my family. Not anymore. I won't be back, and I recommend everyone else stay away too. That kind of customer service is unacceptable. Wonderful neighborhood gem that we'll continue coming back to. Competitive pricing, nice topping options, very clean, and conveniently in downtown San Carlos. The staff was very allergy- aware and went above and beyond to ensure my son received toppings that were fresh and not possibly accidentally contaminated with peanuts (which he is highly allergic to). Yeah usually I am more creative but this time i just got chocolate and vanilla. By getting basic flavors tho it really shows how unbasic this place is. The flavors were super sweet, smooth and creamy. It tasted way better than I can imagine any other tasting. The prices are really good here too. You weigh your own Frozen Yogurt so it's kinda on you if its expensive ha my eyes and taste buds can easily make it pricey but in reality the prices are great and well if you do get more then you can handle the Frozen Yogurt is great to take home also. They have so many flavors and toppings to choose from right at your fingertips. The place is very clean and relaxing. I've taken it to go plenty of times but at least a couple times a month I'll sit here while reading the paper and have some good Frozen Yogurt . I try to stay away because it's easy to get carried away. They have a variety of flavors to choose from and machines are always in service. After filling your cup up with your favorite flavor/flavors, it's time to top it off. So many toppings to choose from it's hard to pick just one. I go a little crazy with the gummy bears and rock candy. Keep in mind, they weigh your cup in the end, prices are based on weight. The women whose there all the time is so friendly! I came here on a whim due to my sweets craving and I'm glad I did. I got strawberry and passion fruit froyo topped with mochi, strawberries and some walnuts. The strawberry was very mild, tasting like most other frozen yogurt places but the passion fruit was really good. It was tart, balancing out the sweetness of the strawberry. The mochi added a little chew to it and the walnuts are always good on any frozen yogurt. It is a little pricy here at 72 cents an oz so I paid $7.20 total for my yogurt. I love this place for a number of reasons. First, there is a good variety of options, whether it's tart, non-dairy, gluten-free, etc. They change the flavors out on a regular basis too. Second, they are CLEAN! I see how the staff cleans the counters and they ALWAYS wash their hands before they give us samples no matter what they are doing. I eat at least my weight in ounces here annually, can't believe I've never written a review! First of all, covid cleanliness procedures are top-notch, they work very hard to make sure their customers are safe. You have to sanitize when walking in and if you don't you will be called out which even though that was me once or twice, I really appreciate. A lot of kids come here too, and as cute but powerful little germ farms, I like knowing sanitized hands touched the levers! Communication is awesome here too- signage everywhere, clear labels, and when they have to close early for an afternoon or family event they always put a sign up so you know exactly when they'll reopen. Kind and respectful employees, definitely a well-run family business. Yummy yogurt with lots of flavors, sometimes I can't even decide and will get 3. My favorite is NSA Strawberry-banana, NSA strawberry, and the pineapple one which is pretty much frozen dole whip and tastes like Maui. NSA stands for no sugar added, but I like to call the NSA flavors things like "SECRET STRAWBERRY" because it sounds and tastes way cooler. Pro tip: only put rainbow sprinkles on NSA flavors and NEVER on pineapple, I can't explain it but it takes away from the island experience. read more

Unethical tipping demanded for no service. Yogurt is already really overpriced to begin with ( they do not tare the cups so you are charged for that too) and the cashier gave the uncomfortable stare down while navigating the pay screen. There is actually no option to not leave a tip ! Super shady. "Tip" for the business- Change your tip screen to have a no tip option and don't expect /demand/ stare down customers to tip on overpriced yogurt that they self served.
