Ok so let me start off by saying that I'm a budget and bargin hunter...and if you are too, then this is NOT your place. However, if you do want something that's something out of your fairybook princess stories, then THIS is your place. I only came here after my mother in law insisted on coming to meet Abraham, the owner. They did her daughter's wedding, and the flowers were epic. The meeting took about 1 hour where he asked me a lot of questions and gave me some suggestions. I did some research so I knew what kind of flowers were expensive, and what were in season...we ended up using the most expensive flowers - at that time, I thought it was so stupid. I mean I could not have been the biggest bitch to these people, but they handled my attitude with a smile. Once I got their quote, I almost choked on my own spit. My bouquet was $200, and my bridesmaids were $100 each. I had 9 bridesmaids...do the math. There was also varies charges for a candle wall, drapery, dishes, etc. - all of which I thought was a waste and wanted to cut out. However, Abraham insisted that this would create my vision, and even exceed my expectations - HE WAS RIGHT. At my wedding, I took the time to look at the flowers, and they were so gorgeous. The venue (Nouveau Antique Art Bar) didn't need a lot of decorations, but everything that Plants N Petals suggested made the venue even more unique and tailored to me! All of the guests took the centerpieces at the end of the night because they were so beautiful...I didn't mind, it was a gift to them. Look, I did some HEAVY negotiations with them, and some haggling, but I really believe that you get what you pay for. I would like to start with the positive. The flowers at my wedding were beautiful. I worked with Bahara and Chelsea. Now for the negative: 1. I asked for very specific flowers that were not necessarily run of the mill. I repeated my requests multiples times and even found where they could order them. Most of them weren't in any of the bouquets but there were flowers that were never discussed in there. 2. I ordered two extra bouquets a month before the wedding. They were not there. 3. They were extremely slow respond. 4. Chelsea lost our meeting notes several times and tried to pretend that she hadn't. 5. I repeated a least twenty times that I wanted all of the arrangements to be done with the same flowers. They were not. In short, they did not fulfill their contract and still changed me full price for the wrong flowers. read more

I have been using Plants n Petals for years. They have been my florist and decorator - both personally and for my work - for almost 2 decades and I have with the perhaps one of the longest professional relationships I have had with anyone. It is because of the outstanding quality of product and service that I receive each and every time I go there or call on the phone. First, as a retail florist, they have all kinds of unusual things in their store. It is plants and flowers - yes - but also a variety of unexpected bric-a-brac that is both in keeping with the quality of the store, but oddly things I would not expect to find at a florist. Wrought iron bar stools, beautiful glass paper weights, Morroccan and Indian tin lamps...it is a fantasy of things if you go in and look around. I can't really describe what it is other than to say it is whimsical, because it changes with the whimsy of the owner. There is, of course, also a huge variety of fountains, planters, pots, etc. If you need gigrundous planters, they have you covered! (Example of whimsy: Blue clay animals - frogs, ducks, turtles - that FLOAT to put into a pool or fountain! I gave these as a gift to a FWHE (friend who has everything) and they went down like a bomb in her pool!!!) As a commercial florist and decorator, providing not just floral centerpieces, but also room decor for large events, they remain unrivaled. Weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs and corporate parties are always better for having used PnP. You can walk in the room and their distinctive style and elegance is so noticable that people know immediately who did the work. The flowers are always the freshest and biggest, never a wilted bud or a rose past its prime here....but lightining, wall draping for effect, linen...they do it all. They provide set up and delivery service, but - what people don't think about - they also come back to clean it up! Often after the party at 2 AM, so that you don't have to worry about it the next day. This is one of the more expensive florists in Houston, but based on the service, delivery, follow through and all of the additional things that they do in addition to the standard florist service, it is worth every penny. I ordered flowers for a funeral that I could not attend. The flowers never arrived but my bill did. Plants N Petals needs to have a system where they confirm delivery of ordered flowers and plants. They were very gracious in offering to send something after the fact and I agreed and when I saw what the deceased's son received (and I will say that it was out of town) I was very disappointed. Yes the flowers were beautiful... but the customer service was abysmal!! Months before the event we ordered 9 arrangements for a bridesmaids luncheon that were to be delivered an hour before the luncheon was to begin. Included in the price was delivery and placement of the flowers on the tables. I confirmed these times and arrangements a week before and again a day before the luncheon. The day of the luncheon, as a hostess I arrived 30 minutes after the arrangements were set to arrive and to my dismay there were NO FLOWERS on the tables!! After three frantic phone calls, the flowers arrived to the front driveway of the restaurant after the bride and bridesmaids had arrived, an hour after they were scheduled to be delivered. Bridesmaids helped carry them in and arranged them, disrupting the entire luncheon After the event, I left several messages to inquire about the extremely tardy delivery, and no phone call was ever returned. When I finally talked to the head designer (Bahara), she refused to waive any part of the delivery fee. Due to the stress it caused to the hostesses and the bridal party, I would not recommend using this florist for an important event. read more

I hired plants and petals for my wedding. The center pieces were awesome. A large part of the order was a stage for pictures. I had given the coordinator Bahara a picture of what I wanted and she said it could be done. On the wedding day the stage that had been constructed looked nothing like what I had ordered. It was tacky and cheap and had to be adjusted just to get the expensive flowers in the pictures. When I talked to the people onsite they didnt know anything about it and only minimal changes could be made to the constructed stage at the last minute. My wedding pictures looked like we were standing in front of a cheap curtain. When I contacted her after the wedding she didnt even have the decency to call back. read more

Stopped here once when Williams-Sonoma had lied to me about when there class was, which happened to be before anything, including Williams-Sonoma was open. Life's hard isn't it? I had been needing some pots, and decided I would check this place out. Though the "storefront" isn't the most gorgeous or convincing, the inside is quite nice. It was a nice, sunny morning and I kind of felt like I was at some garden far away from the inner loop of Houston as I listened to the quiet trickle of their fountains. They have SO MANY pots. Most are roughly the same style, richly-glazed thick pots, in a variety of sizes. I don't buy pots all the time, but felt that their prices were comparable to what I've seen elsewhere, at $20-30 for a medium-sized pot. Inside the shop is, as others have mentioned, the floral part of the business. Saw some beautiful real and faux flower arrangements, as well as some pretty potted flowers. The fellow who helped me out as friendly and helped me take my pots to my car, after bagging them very well. Good experience - might come by again just for the ambiance and peace! read more

I needed flowers for a wedding. It was Sunday, many stores are closed but not Plants&Petals. I was in a hurry and when came in I asked the workers to make something unusual and interesting, I told that I did not have much time. They understood me quickly and gave me the order in some minutes, I was shocked. There was very quick service. The flowers were not cheap, but it did not matter for me that time. Had Plants n Petals do the bouquets for my wedding and the table arrangements for my reception. The bouquets were beautiful and half of the table arrangements were exactly what I had been shown and we had talked about. The other half I could have gone to Krogers picked up the flowers and dropped them in the vase like they did. They were not what I had been shown and did not reflect what was stated on my contract. When I emailed them about how I was unhappy about them I just got a very pointed email back stating basically it was my fault for not providing a photo of the example they had made for me and for not reading the contract. I actually read over the contract again and they in fact did not follow the contract. I would say for your special wedding day go somewhere else or just have them do your bouquets but don't have them do your reception flowers. They came highly recommended to me but what a let down. Terrible experience with Plants n' Petals. The florist, I believe his name is Abraham, was constantly trying to change the flowers and design. When I went to our first review of the flowers and design it was NOTHING like what we had discussed. Then on the wedding day my center pieces arrived and I had asked for real candles in the lanterns - he used battery operated candles with tea lights. We then called to complain and they didn't care. I selected Plants & Petals for my wedding. They did a wonderful job on the execution of the attendant florals as well as the florals for the venue. One main component of my order was a custom, topiary moss dragon for the entrance to the venue. They did a great job with this fantastic element. We received many compliments and people took pictures with the dragon at the wedding. When I met with Bahara, I did provide her with samples of things I liked and a general idea of the look/feel of my wedding. Bahara did a great job, with the help of her assistant Chelsea, bringing this to life. I ordered floral pin corsages for the Moms and let me tell you, she selected single full-bloom magenta roses. They were simply amazing. Show stopping beauty out of such a small part of the big picture. I had worked with Bahara at Plants N' Petals on a couple of smaller events (an intimate 12-person 60th birthday party for myself and a baby shower for 50, for which she designed an adorable floral giraffe) before very recently working with her on my daughter's wedding for over 200 guests. She has always captured the vision we had, only better. The wedding flowers were breathtaking, while keeping within our budget. She also offers great options for linens, chargers, candle holders, chairs, and other details that put the finishing touches on the event (she designed a floral backdrop for our photo booth which added a classier spin than we'd otherwise have).
