i have seen Dr Turko twice before, 2024 & 2025, regarding a severe dog bite, left hand. I called to make an appointment for another matter (right index finger ganglion). I was informed to send a referral from my GP. Done. Called again for an appointment; diverted to scheduling. I could only leave a message for someone from scheduling (Robin) to call me back; left my number. Called back 4 hours later after no call back to check on setting the appointment. I was then told scheduling had 3 to 5 working days to call me back -- their normal procedure. In all my years of phoning medical facilities -- hospitals, dentists, clinics, anything -- this was a first; 3 to 5 work days just to be able to set up an appointment date. Ludicrous. read more

I've now had two procedures with Dr. Turko and his team at Plastic and Hand. Despite a scheduling miscommunication early on with this latest procedure, the surgical team itself does a wonderful job. Things are run smoothly post surgery as well (e.g. follow up communication). Dr. Turko has a calm and professional manner about him and is a joy to work with. The front desk staff are also welcoming and helpful. In the Greater Portland area, this would be the practice I recommend for any cosmetic surgical procedures. read more

I just had extra skin on my stomach and arms removed. I am exactly two weeks since my surgery and my results are AMAZING! Dr Zelones is a wonderful surgeon and I wasn't expecting my results to look this great. He even saved my tattoo intentionally trying to keep my Mickey intact. The entire staff there are also amazing. Katie was my nurse after waking up from surgery and she was so attentive and the sweetest with the best bedside manner. Jaymyn was also wonderful answering all my questions and made me feel comfortable before the surgery. Charlotte who is an intake nurse on the phone is also great at what she does. I highly recommend Plastic and Hand to anyone who is in search of a great plastic surgery facility. This company has shady billing and scheduling practices. They cheat you out of your time, and they double charge you while they do it. They double book the Dr. and the Physical Therapist, and tell you you see both in 1 appointment. Then you get 1 appointment with the Physical Therapist, and the Dr. "steps in" to your appointment. So you don't get full time with the Dr., and you don't get full time with the Physical Therapist, but they bill you for two separate full time appointments that require two separate co-pays, and two separate insurance codes. They cheat you out of your time, and they double charge you while they do it. read more

I have been here for a couple of medical procedures. Initially, I thought they were okay. But they run a shady organization. I've always had billing issues when coming here. There's no transparency. I got a bill over $10,000, with no description of what for. I called them about it and the person on the phone acted surprised and said she would "look into it" and then soon after called me back and said that they didn't put the invoice through to the insurance correctly or something, so the bill would be much lower. Even with the second bill, I was only sent the amount with "pay this" ...I had to call and ask for a breakdown of services, and they mailed me a crude printout of misc items pertaining to the procedure in the office. Months later, I got yet a second bill for the procedure. Suddenly, they are prompt in asking for money. Pricing seems arbitrary, and the two visits varied greatly in price. They'll try to get you in for multiple cash-grab follow-ups just to empty your pockets. My previous surgeon in Chicago was nothing like this place. Here, they only want to swindle as much as they can out of you. I'll be investigating this further, and I will inform my PCP if I am to have any more similar procedures, that I want someplace else. read more

Made a yelp account just to say how awful my experience here was. I was highly uncomfortable for the entirety of my consultation. The nurse was swearing, which came across as super unprofessional. Dr Zelonis came in after and sat ridiculously close to me, to a point where I was creeped out and uncomfortable. I could literally smell his breath. He was very dismissive and actually had the nerve to laugh at me while I was processing the 300 things he'd said to me in a one minute time span. Then proceeded to rush me out to scheduling. He had an intern shadowing him and as they left me with the scheduler, he turned to her and said "I'm so sorry about that" (referring to me) and they both started laughing. I left the building crying and needless to say, I did not book a second appointment because frankly I would much rather live with this painful cyst than ever step foot in there again. 0/10. read more

My husband needed surgery for his oral cancer. we were urged to go to Boston but we chose to stay in Maine. Dr Zelonis did a 13 hr. surgery taking a bone and tissue from his leg to reconstruct the area after removal of the affected area of his jaw. Returning to our home, a visiting nurse came daily to treat the jaw area and the leg wound. After a couple of week, neither nurse nor I liked the way his leg was healing. Discussions with Dr. Zelonis went nowhere: "It was a complicated surgery; it's going to take time." Many more calls from me and from the nurse including photos showing the wound, pleas for an appointments for him to at least look at it. Same response. No appointment. Weeks later, we were leaving for the season and finally he agreed to see us. We arrived at the appointed time only to seen ....n o t Dr. Zelonis, but by his nurse practitione. Same answer, "Looks fine; going to take time." After we got to FL, we saw a wound specialist who was distressed by what he saw. It took weeks of visits, first three times a week, then twice a week. then once a week to finally heal the wound. This was more than two years ago and that was just the leg wound. It took several more surgeries to repair the jaw area....still not done. Would I recommend Dr. Zelonis....no, I would not. read more

Dr. Kirkham did my reconstructive surgery after my breast cancer treatment. I am so happy with my results and it's been 3 years. My scars are minimal and very neat and done with precision. I had no dog ears of the skin or rippling of the scars. So far no scar tissue. He did a beautiful job and I am forever grateful for his care of me. read more

Sometimes, sh*t happens. So when I had an unfortunate incident while lifting a lawnmower into my car, I was directed to the plastic and hand by my ER doc. I was able to get in quickly, I forgot to mention said accident occurred the day before a two week wedding vacation. Dr. Kutz (what a great name for a surgeon, but I'm sure he's heard that before), was quick, explained what I needed to do to keep my finger in tact and also hopefully get it functioning again. I have had multiple appointments here. I've never wait longer than 5 or 10 minutes and have always had a positive experience. I can't attest to their plastic surgery, maybe later in life, but as for my hand, so far so good. read more

I made an appointment a month out with Dr. Vaughn's "scheduling coordinator" for a facial assessment. Both my wife and I wrote down the date and time in our phones right there at her desk. After a two hour drive, I arrived early for my appointment to do the paperwork. First, they couldn't find me because the "coordinator" butchered my first name (which sounds nothing like "Jane"). Next, she scheduled my appointment on a Friday, which is the doctor's standard surgery day. Third, despite having my correct phone number and a month to correct her mistake, she never contacted me to reschedule. Finally, the next appointment I was offered was another month away. Really? If Dr. Vaughn is too busy to hire competent support staff, why in the world would I let him near my face? read more

i would never recommend Plastic & Hamd! it's all about the $$$$ . Justin Zelones was my surgeon and had no clue what he was doing. After having gone through breast cancer and developing an infection with one on my implants, he chose to take both out in the OR and replace them with two different sizes. a 350cc in the cancer (infected breast) and 325cc in the uninflected breast. in addition he cut out the nipple and on the uninfected breast. When I saw what he had done, I cried because I looked like a freak. I asked him why he put in different sizes and why he took out one of my nipples. He said it was the best way to perform the surgery so I everything looked symmetrical. A couple of months later the smaller implant began moving up toward my shoulder and was a couple inches higher than my left. I made an appt to speak to the head surgeon and he completely dismissed my concerns and said the right breast would fall.?It never did. I finally found an excellent surgeon in NH who corrected Zelones mistakes and she replace his with two matching 475cc implants. I still have only one nipple and she says she can correct that. This business is a money making machine and could care less about a happy outcome for the patient. on an aside, the staff are like caregiving door. In my two years of appts, I never saw the same nurse or front desk reception. If you want physicians snd surgeons who actually care, this is not the place!! read more

Dr. Vaughn and Dr. kutz have been excellent to work with. I had a double mastectomy (FTM top surgery) and they are super respectful of my preferred pronouns and explained the surgery to me and what the recovery time line looks like. I am 110% happy with my results and they provided excellent gender affirming care. read more

We took our son to this practice three times to consultation on a dog bite. On each occasion we waited extremely long to be seen by anyone. On our fourth trip, I scheduled an appointment early -- 8:45 am -- to avoid the inevitable back up at this place. To my surprise, however, we waited in the waiting room for 40 minutes. When I asked if I was correct on the appointment time, they moved us to an examination room but provided my son with a half ass coloring book and we continued to wait. After over an hour without being spoken too by any medical professional, I decided to take my son (who is 2 1/2 and by that point quite agitated) home. We will never go back. I am a professional too. If I made a client wait an hour over his/her scheduled appointment time to see me, I would be fired. These elitist doctors demonstrated no concern for my schedule or the fact that my son is 2 1/2 and waiting in a doctor's office to be seen. Frankly, I do not see how they stay in business, but I guess that explains the large amount of retirees in the waiting room.....if you have anything to do during the day, do not schedule a visit here. read more

Dr. did tummy tuck and thigh lift. Later needed emergency bilateral carpal tunnel surgery. Now dealing with basal joint arthritis. Everyone is pleasant. Dr. was and remains always professional. Results were fantastic. I can't say enough good about them. read more

Used the practice for many years. Very successful hand surgeries with Drs there. Attempted to have a neck lift with a Dr there. Long story short, 3 attempts but no success. No Dr in Portland would attempt to right it and I was sent to a well known Dr in Boston. After $10,000 the Dr did his best with one surgery and then a little touch up. He was appalled with what he saw during surgery, but in the long run he made me look normal again. read more

Absolutely ridiculous. I recently had carpal tunnel release performed on both of my hands. My experience at Plastic and Hand Associates has been exceptional from my initial phone call to set up a consultation to the discharge instructions given following my surgery. Dr. Maddali and his staff are very friendly and professional. The wait time in the lobby, as well as in the room was very minimal. The procedures i was about to schedule were explained very well by the doctor. Following my consultation i did have a few questions and was able to address these through the patient portal online. Dr. Maddali's nurse promptly called me to answer my questions. The days of my surgeries i was greeted with more friendliness and professionalism. The intake process was easy. The surgical area was very clean and the staff that was not involved with my case was friendly as well. Once in the surgery suite i was greeted with a surgical tech who introduced herself. I was made very comfortable with some warm blankets. The nurse monitoring my vital signs chatted about our mutual interests while the surgeon performed the procedure. All in all I would give this practice, and my experience there, high marks and would recommend their services to family and friends. read more
