My husband and I both had cataract surgery recently at Eyecare Med Group in Portland. The staff was very accommodating to our needs and provided wonderful care. Update: shortly after posting my initial review, I was contacted directly by customer care representative who personally promised to get it straightened out. She explained there was some confusion because my practitioner had also gone on an unplanned extended leave. Which could account for some of my experience, but not quite all of it. Anyway, they took fantastic care of me after that. We finally did the tiny corrective procedure I needed and the doc was not shy about scheduling as many follow ups as remotely necessary. I even canceled the last one since everything was fine. I've been happy with the results since. Should have amended this a while ago. Bottom line: I'm glad I did it, but I can't give full marks because of my particular extended experience that probably isn't common. read more

My mom was referred to here by her Dr. for eye care and procedures and what a nice place. Everyone is very attentive and so polite. Plenty of parking and plenty of seating. They were very busy, but managed getting people in rather quickly. My mom's nurse, Heather was awesome. She came and got us afterwards, so we could be present on the next steps in my mom's eye care. Dr. Sise is taking care of my mom and he was great, explained everything very well. Then the checkout - you will meet Jerrod, such a fun and nice guy. He goes over your insurance with you on the procedure you're having. Overall, such a great medical business and look forward to my mom's care. read more

My only problem with this group is that they recently added a $900 fee for a cataract evaluation. My insurance company confirmed it is not a copay for any tests, but an office fee that no insurance can cover. Who can afford a $900 office fee? read more

I was told the Toric ll lenses I chose at 3000.00 each eye would eliminate my need for glasses unfortunately I still need progressive glasses and my eye corrections I needed to happen, fell way short and they don't care. don't go there, its about money not your well being! Saw them listed as a specialist for an issue I have. When I called the office to see their availability, the lady who was rude, and said that they will only consider the schedule based on what the doctor referral says. I explained to her of my condition and wanted to know the availability. She again insisted that the referring doctor will determine when I get seen. My reason for calling is to speak to the office and determine availability as well as the courtesy of the office and how their patients are being treated. I think that if she is not interested in speaking to me, the patient then I am not interested in being seen by this group. Shes only interested in processing paperwork based on referrals, I would not be going to this office. read more

i am livid with Dr. France. he is a condescending arrogant jerk. i have had numerous medical peocedures including narrow angle (eye) surgery. My pain tolerance is very high. Other surgeries include back, shoulder, achilles, bicep, acid reflex (requiring surgery), lost all my natural teeth, and I was coded at dead in 2017 by first responders. Pain doesn't bother me. Here is what happened; Cataract surgery. The provider when placing the support device to keep my eye open during the procedure slipped (or I twitched) and the bottom part of it stabbed me just below my eye. Needless to say it hurt and all I said was "ouch". Was I not supposed to speak up? Dr. France refused to do the procedure and quickly told me so everyone could hear it "no one here did anything wrong". Then he went on to say over 13000 procedures and this has never happened. its his right to refuse to do the surgery. I get that. But to twist it and blame me? Really? All I said was ouch. Dr. France hurt me physically, did not apologize and blamed me for today's disaster. Shame on you dr Richard France. Thats doctor with a small d. I won't be recommending Dr. Richard France at Eye Care Medical Group to anyone. its unfortunate, I have known this group for a long time and they are wonderful. France is the issue. i would still recommend Eye Care to family and colleagues as they have many great doctors And invest in technology to stay current. read more

I took off work on PTO to make my very first appointment with them. They canceled the appointment the day of. Costing me the last day of my PTO. I was going to see them about diabetic retinopathy and find out what I have to do to keep from going blind. I was already anxious and worried, so there actions have caused a distress. I would not recommend anyone going here unless you are retired and have free time to waste. read more

9-23-2024 My regular eye doctor examined me and said I had a tear in my right Retina. Which is why I had him check it because of an issue. He set me up that day with Eyecare Medical Group and they called me within the hour. They fit me in the very next day. It was easy place to find with plenty of parking. It has a great waiting area with multiple check in areas depending on which Doctor you see. I saw Dr. Parnes. The wait was probably 30 minutes and it didn't bother me at all. The staff was very friendly and I was checked in and then when called the basic checks and scans were done and Dr. Parnes came in and after examination of my eye was brought by his assistant to the room where they use a laser to "Tack Weld" basically the tear. the procedure lasted less then a minute it seemed. I had my follow up today on 10/22/2024 and everything is fine. I had excellent care and service. They do "Emergency" procedures so sometime there will be a wait. It's totally understandable that you may have a delay from arrival to setting in the Dr. Chair. Unless yourself centered and can't grasp this idea I guess. I highly approve of this practice. read more

Great center of excellence for eye care. Every staff member we have met have been so pleasant and patient. My dad is quite pleased with his experiences here and I have been pleased to see the interactions with him as well. The parking is perfect. The waiting area is comfortable with complimentary coffee. If your insurance accepts the services here, I highly recommend them. read more

No matter the time of day or the day of the week, there is always a 60+ minute wait. That's in the waiting room. Then another 60+ minutes in the appointment with only about 5 with a nurse and 5 with a doctor. Given that patients are mostly elderly, this is unacceptable for the patient and their caregivers. This office has been like this for years. read more

Absolutely wonderful medical group. Dr. France is highly skilled, friendly and humorous. He carefully explained all the options related to my cataract surgery and care. This is my story. I was afraid to have cataract surgery. After 6 months of going back and forth yes-no yes-no I finally decided to do it. It is the best thing I've ever done. Dr Nguyen's Bed side manners are far from comforting. In 2022 I experienced some distress during retina reattachment surgery , and the doctor as well as her tech got frustrated with me . In March of 23, I went back to Dr Nguyen because I had a big floater causing problems in the other eye. When Dr Nguyen walked in the examining room , asked me what I was doing there and who sent me like I was bothering her .After looking for 1 minute .she insisted she saw nothing .A few months later when the floater got worse ,I went to SeaCoast Vision and was told I have a huge jelly floater in my eye and need to have it looked at at the very least .1 week later the floater tore a hole in my retina ,now I have to have Retina surgery .It will not be at this office, As a result of this on going rude and uncaring treatment ,I will not be paying the patient deductible for the unprofessional attitude services rendered read more

Very happy with the continued care I get from Dr. Sterrer and the entire team at EMG. I had advanced cataracts in both eyes in my 50's - Dr. Sterrer referred to me as his pediatric patient - his relaxed nature and humor made for a less anxious experience. I can't tolerate anesthesia and the staff there accommodated my request for only a mild relaxant and supported me through both surgeries. First, I need to say that I seldom take the time to do public reviews. Dr. Cassidy and his staff are extremely customer service oriented - such a rarity today I was really surprised. Everyone, from the front desk, to the techs, to billing, to the OR nurses to the anesthesiologist are all focused on providing excellent patient care. Procedures are explained completely - there are no surprises. I had two surgeries, and have had several office appointments as well - never waited more than 5 min past appointment time; had a survey on patient care sent after every appointment; very thoughtful thank-you's for choosing them after both surgeries. After my second surgery, I called the on-call dr. with a question. Half an hour after I contacted the answering service they called me back to make sure that I had spoken to the doctor and was all set. I have NEVER had that happen before. I would recommend Dr. Cassidy and EyeCare Medical Group without any reservations! The best part - after 54 years of wearing glasses I can see when I wake up in the morning and no longer need glasses to function! I have 20/20 vision now - cannot thank Dr. Cassidy and his staff enough! read more

I saw Dr Parnes at Eyecare recently. I found the staff to be very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr parnes explained to me what was happening with my vision in a way that I could understand and what my treatment options are. I was there about two hours which was a long time, but lots of testing was done and the care was wonderful. read more

Dr. Jordan Sterrer is an excellent surgeon. He removed cataracts in both of my eyes and implanted toric lens for the correction of astigmatism. I see beautifully. The staff was very professional, caring, and personally interested in me and my welfare. Dr. Sterrer did everything possible to make sure I was pleased with the process and results.
