I had an appointment at this location this morning and showed up a few minutes late (but well within the grace period) with the knowledge that medical facilities offer a 10-15 minute grace period and the assumption that due to the massive winter storm plaguing the East coast and causing mass congestion on the roads that that grace period is free to be utilized. I was wrong. When starting the onboarding paperwork, which felt unnecessary due to the fact that I had already sent in copies of my ID and insurance card AND was able to complete an online check-in the night before I showed up, the front desk clerk informed me that the doctor would not be able to see me because she was "booked full" for the day. I didnt understand what that meant since I was within the grace period for my appointment and was informed that actually, new patients are REQUIRED to show up 15 minutes prior to their appointment time and that because I showed up AT THE TIME SCHEDULED FOR MY APPOINTMENT, I was no longer able to be seen. I asked how this could be since theres no possible way it would take me more than 2 minutes to fill out the paperwork and that time would still be within the grace period and was told there was nothing that could be done, that the doctors day was too full and that I actually needed to be there well prior to my appointment. This was NEVER mentioned in any of the notifications I received from the office which are attached below, nor was it mentioned in the online check-in I completed. I mentioned the fact that for the past week the roads have been significantly congested due to the ice storm weve experienced and that makes it more difficult for patients to arrive but I was still within time. Again I was told there is nothing they could do because I needed to be there 15 minutes earlier than my appointment. If a new patient needed to be there early, why was this not mentioned at the time of scheduling or in a reminder notification? Why would the appointment time be for 9:45 and not 9:30? Why would I need to be there 15 minutes early to fill out 2-3 minutes of paperwork? If I was able to check-in for the appointment, why would I still need to come in and complete paperwork, and why could it not be done in a timely manner that still falls within the window of time allotted to see the doctor? At best, this policy is arbitrary and illogical, and at worst it actively deceives and denies patients medical care. I live an hour away and have a disability, it is not easy for me to get to these kinds of appointments especially considering most people, myself included, have to take off work to make them. If this is the kind of treatment that patients receive I am glad that this facility will no longer be receiving my business and I HIGHLY suggest that others seek other options. read more

"Absolutely appalling. My wife scheduled two appointments to have a concerning item removed and biopsied. Both times she took time off work, arrived at the office, and was told her appointment was canceled. The office claims they sent text messages and that my wife rescheduled, which is blatantly false. To add insult to injury, unbenown to others that I had called and got one story, they provided my wife a second story - they told her the doctor had an emergency and that they called this morning. My wife showed them her phone log with no missed calls - another lie. This level of disrespect and unprofessionalism is unacceptable. I went to see Dr. Shahabadi today for the first time. the staff is friendly helpful and doesn't rush patient with me while I found my insurance card picture. dr. Shahabadi asked questions about my skin and habits and products and answered all my questions! Very knowledgeable and professional and easy to talk to also. I had a breast augmentation consultation set up with Dr. Reza Mirali. Everything went fine, thought it went well. The surgery was discussed, I think some pictures were taken if I recall correctly. When the doctor heard that I was transgender, they sent me an email asking to call them back. I called them back, and was told they would not see me. "He does not do those," I was told. To clarify: I was told that he would perform breast augmentation for cisgender women, but not for transgender women. Transphobic trash has no place in today's society. read more

I've had multiple surgical procedures done by Dr. Mirali -- today's was about an hour, closing incision from Mohs procedure. He's very sensitive to patient comfort, keeps me informed on what he's doing, takes whatever time is needed to get things right. Support staff is great and they work together as a team. He's an artist, producing minimally visible scars after complex procedures. Partner Dr. Shahabadi is the best dermatologist, equally concerned, empathetic, patient. Eight years ago a friend recommended Dr. Shahabadi as a dermatologist and I'm so grateful for the advice. Dr. Shahabadi has completed annual skin checks ever since, taking great care with a number minor procedures and making me confident in my health. Recently I needed to have a mole removed. Her husband (and office partner) Dr. Mirali completed the procedure and I am equally happy with his excellent care. Dr. Mirali is an absolutely wonderful surgeon. I was very nervous about my reduction mammoplasty and he could not have made me feel more comfortable. He is kind, smart and overall super pleasant. So is Chelsea and the rest of his staff. His office being gorgeous and comtemporary is also a plus. I've never had a rude of unpleasant encounter with any of this team. I was able to book my procedure on a day Dr. Mirali doesn't operate. He was kind enough to make an exception for me. He knew how nervous I was the day of the procedure. Before they put me under, Dr. Mirali grabbed my hand and told me it would be ok. This is the last thing I remember before going to sleep. After the procedure, while I was still out of it, he called my sister personally to let her know how it went. Just amazing. On top of that, the entire experience at the Woodburn Surgical Center was amazing. The nurses were phenomenal. He is ALWAYS available and welcoming of any questions you have pre or post procedure. I also LOVE my results. I also found the procedure affordable. I have recommended many of my friends interested in cosmetic procedures as well. I truly I am so glad to have had such an ideal and positive experience. I still see Dr. Mirali once a month for checkups since I am currently about 3 months post op. If I were to ever get a procedure again, Dr. Mirali would be the only surgeon I would turn too. I cannot emphasize my gratitude for him and his team enough. She's a great dermatologist and has treated me for everything from hair loss to eczema. I've been experiencing hair loss for some time now due to some hormonal, thyroid issues and she has been open and receptive to trying different treatments and has now even started prp treatments for hair loss! She's genuinely so sweet and always listens to my concerns and I never feel rushed in any of my appointments. I also can't say enough good things about Oleana, their master esthetician, who is the only one I trust for my skin... she's seriously amazing! This husband wife team, Dr. Shahabadi (Dermatology) and Dr. Mirali (Plastic Surgery) are a gorgeous couple, knock outs...with knock out prices. Their new Fairfax location is a sheik, modern white office that mirrors their snowy white teeth and flawless skin. When I first entered the office it was 'glaringly' evident that they had hired consultants & decorators; their marketing plan was conspicuous. Their office is stylized like a Manhattan or LA spot to attract affluent clients or those that 'think rich, but have debt.' The sophisticated image conveys that the Mr. & Mrs. Dr.'s can afford white leather seating because they are talented; therefore their services warrant higher prices. It is smart for an outfit that promises to cosmetically improve their clients to present a glamorous image...but I question whether their brand image countervails their customer allegiance. I wouldn't take issue with their inflated prices if they didn't try to over service/bill me. I rely on Dr. Shahabadi for an annual regiment of three prescriptions that should be OTC. Previous doctors have written me a year of refills for the innocuous potions because they don't require medical supervision. Dr. Shahabadi only writes me three refills; my pharmacist and I both called and asked for additional refills and were denied. Clearly the Doctor wants to ensure I return for a billable office visit that is not necessary. It was disappointing to learn Dr. Shahabadi wouldn't extend that courtesy because I am a loyal client that calls on her when medically required...and the occasional nonessential indulgence. It should be duly noted that every visit has been pleasant and Dr. Shahabadi has earned my trust. She is congenial and displays expert knowledge and I will call on her when I need to have wrinkles ironed and brows starched...but I certainly wish she wouldn't suggest similar treatments until I express interest. I confess to being won over by the beautiful Mr. & Mrs. Dr.'s and their smart marketing, but refusing the products they peddle and gratuitous procedures is tiresome. read more

I agree with the other reviews..I waited in the waiting room for a skin check for 30 mins..another 20 mins in a paper gown in the cold exam room and she suddenly came in the room, glanced over me, and like a whirlwind was done in less than 2 mins. Dr Shahabadi was friendly, but terrible bedside manner, rushed, and didnt care what I was saying. Prescribed me a new medicine and circled a bunch of stuff to purchase from her front desk and to follow up in 3 months. I do not think so! I did not purchase anything from there (all available cheaper online anyway) and I will not follow up with her. Her PA or NP Gina (my son had an appt the same day) was very friendly and listened to our concerns. Maybe the doctor should learn something from her! 6 months 3 doctors visits - each we waited 45min to an hour... My husband took a day off to take my daughter for the visit & was sent back.. He got there late due to an accident on 495.. Appointment was @9am, they suggested we get there 15min ahead, we showed up @8:55am.... It took us 8hrs of driving 6months of waiting & they cancel it because of an accident on the highway that made us late for 10min.. Horrible people..... please don't go there... they kept us bringing back for consultation 1st with her then with her husband then another 1.. we wasted so much time to get my daughters little bump removed but I feel so used and tossed away... with absolute disregard to our visits, travel time & planning.. yet being cancelled right on a surgery day due to 10min that wasn't our fault... their time is more valuable than ours read more

I visited the office recently to get botox in my forehead. After discussing my concern with the doctor she proceeded with the treatment she recommended. Didn't work after 10 days,again visited the office to show the doctor my concern and was told I just needed more after I clearly stated what I wanted and pay for what she recommended. I went for a skin check and wart appraisal in Dec 2015. After waiting in the cold examination room for 10 minutes, Dr Shabnam breezed in and was literally done in 3 minutes. She just glanced at a mole I had on my back, dismissed it and then when I showed her the small warts on my hand, without any explanation of procedure and healing time required, took out a freezing gun and zapped my three small warts before I could blink. I was totally unprepared for what happened in the next few weeks. They blistered, became angry red for the next week to 10 days. The largest one, while it is now healed has left a brownish scar around the wart- still there after 3 months!! I HIGHLY discourage going to see this doc. She is terrible- really does not care and does not explain the pros and cons, procedure and outcome or what to expect from a procedure. read more

My mother had breast cancer and Dr. Mirali did partial reconstruction surgery after her mastectomy. He added her expenders in doing her mastectomy she will have to go back in for the 2nd surgery for the final part. Dr. Mirali wanted her to be really happy with her size and make sure she was 100% comfortable. The care my mom received from him doing this hard time has truly been a blessing from God. He was so patient with us I asked over 100 questions. My mom seen on other plastic surgeons that came recommend, but she said no one took the time to explain everything to her like Dr. Mirali. He made her feel like he honestly cared about her well being her restored her to feeling whole. He helped her through a terrifying part of our life. He did it with warmth and dignity. I was really excited to come here. I had just changed health care providers (I used to be covered by the military) and was in the third month of an accutane prescription. My first two experiences were adequate. Very clean and aesthetic looking office and friendly front desk people. The only downfall here was that they forgot to give me a blood work order to get labs done to fill my prescription, they quickly fixed it though. My most recent experience was not so great. I had a Friday appointment at 3:50. I arrived 30 minutes early (to avoid the late policy) and wasn't called out of the lobby until 4:15. The assistant was very kind and asked me about my concerns to tell Dr. Shahabadi. Then I waited another 10 minutes until the doctor actually saw me and it was for less than 5 minutes! I didn't feel that she listed to my concerns (I only had one month left on the meds and my acne still wasn't completely clear) and was only concerned with my blood work results. But she cleared me and I was supposed to get a prescription the following Monday or Tuesday. There is a seven day window in which you can fill an accutane prescription, by Tuesday I still didn't have a prescription as was beginning to worry. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and called them Wednesday night so that they would have it first thing Thursday morning. I didn't hear back from anyone all Thursday morning, I called again around noon and no one picked up the phone. I called again around 2pm and found out that my blood results had yet to be faxed over. They had called the lab to get this information - but didn't feel the need to tell me so that I could call the lab and get it faxed over. (The lab - Quest Diagnostics - had their own issues too that made this experience even worse). Finally I got a hold of someone around 1:00pm to find that she still hadn't looked at my lab results. At this point I was locked out of the 7 day window that a prescription can be filled in. Luckily she was able to override this and allow me to fill my prescription, but it could have been taken care of much sooner and with greater efficiency. In all I had called them 10 times in a span of 48 hours to make sure everything was taken care of, while they had only contacted me once. read more

Dr.Shahabadi treated me like I didn't matter. Rushed me out the door, and over charged me $300 for a visit I never even scheduled. I was never aware of the charge and she reported it to collections. Worst dermatologist ever. Do not go see them. They are conceded and don't care about the patients only their money. The reason I went to go see her in the first place was for acne. She prescribed my Acutane without testing my blood first- I had a terrible allergic reaction. My face broke out in hives so I went to go see her about it. SHE TOLD ME I HAD AIDS.... AIDS... After a blood test it turned out not to be AIDS, but a reaction to just as I described. This doctor has no knowledge and scared me to death. DO NOT GO SEE THEM. TERRIBLE PEOPLE. Who tells someone they have AIDs and makes them wait a month for the results? All i had was an allergic reaction.This practice should be shut down. read more

My first and only question was whether Plastic Surgery and Dermatology Associates were covered by my health insurance provider, Blue Cross Blue Shield (Federal Employees Program). They replied, "Yes". But in reality, of their (excessive) $800 in dermatology charges, my insurance will only pay $59.69. That's 7.5% coverage. They should have disclosed this upfront and flagged it well before they embarked on their overpriced treatment (which in the end did not solve the skin problem). In summary, the amount of their charges compared to the medical services provided was way out of line, and they all but misled regarding insurance coverage. Would strongly recommend to anyone that they find a different provider than Plastic Surgery and Dermatology Associates.Seems like a rip-off operation to me. read more

I had a horrible experience with Botox at this location. I called and asked how much it was before I committed to it and they quoted me I think it was $15 a unit or $600 for the forehead and in-between the eyes. It seemed reasonable to me since it was the same price as the Center for Laser Surgery where I had it five months earlier. To my shock, two weeks after getting the botox I still had deep lines across my forehead. I went back in and demanded they fix it but they refused to without charging me hundreds more. This experience leads me to believe that this office either injects the "botox" in places they know is useless or they're not actually injecting botox. It was a complete waste of $600 and I would warn anyone going in for Botox here. read more

This place is horrible!!! Stay away!!! The staff is incompetent and give you different information every single time and the doctors should lose their license for being so careless and unsympathetic to their patients. I made an appointment for a follow up on a service I had gotten done a couple of months ago, they specifically told me (multiple times) I was not going to be charged, because it was a follow up. When I get to the office and sign in, they asked for my insurance card, I told them that this was a follow up. They shouldn't need my insurance card, but they insisted that it was for future reference, so I gave it to them. During the visit, Dr. Shahabadi spent a total of 5 minutes and completely denying that my symptoms started after the service I received at their office. She practically forced me to buy another product. Two days later, I broke out in hives all over my face and was in serious pain. I made an appointment with my regular dermatologist and she was really upset that Dr. Shahabadi had completely mis-diagnosed me and gave me such a harmful product. When I called Dr. Shahabadi's office, they refused to talk to me even though I was in serious pain and my face was covered in hives. They refused to take the product back. They also submitted a claim through my insurance for the office visit. So now, my face is still covered in red blotches, I'm in pain, and they got money from me. I will never recommend this place to anyone. I think it is completely unethical and i'm sure illegal for a physician to ignore their patients when they are in pain especially since it was caused by that physician. read more

I saw Lan ( I think that's the way you spell her name. she works only Fridays.), the aesthetician, for a VI peel and she promised me I would peel. I didn't peel, I flaked a little around the edges of my face and peeled on my neck. She applied the VI peel twice and I consistently asked her to put it in the crease of my nostrils. she said she did but I did not feel it. there was no pressure, she applied it so lightly even after reminding her I had tough skin. I complained and she saw me after 7 days. Then she changed her story and said not all people peel and that I benefitted from the keratins in the peel. She said my skin looks better. I do not see that. when I put on my face make up it still have to fill in my deep pores. There is no difference. She also said she applied it 3 times. I can count and she only let the chemical dry once when applying. I was disappointed and she told me I would benefit from another product they sell. read more

I have been reaching out to the doctor's office since last 2 weeks about a medication that has been prescribed by the doctor. First we had been told it is sent to my pharmacy and then when we went to pharmacy they said nothing has been sent by the doctor. When we called to doctor's office they said you need to come to pick up there. It was very frustrating as I had been mislead first time. Next when I called them before I come to pick the medication they told us they will talk to doctor and see if they can send the prescription to my pharmacy and told us they are going to call us back later that day. My wife had an appointment time of 8:30am, we arrived at 8:45am due an unusually busy traffic day and were told that the appointment needs to be rescheduled....HUH! We were repeatedly told that office policy states that all patients who arrive 15 mins or more past their appointment time will have to reschedule for a different day....no ifs, ands or buts about it, and there is nothing that anybody can do...again "Its The Policy". No complaints about the doctor, Dr Shahabadi is great, but if you can't get in to see her and on top of that have to deal with the inflexible and cold staff then whats the point. Dr. Shahabadi was good with me, but not good with my adolescent son. Does not have the rapport you need to have with a teenager. She seemed patronizing to him and did not seem to understand the implications of his skin issues on his outlook on life. This office is way too much about glitz and expensive treatments like peels and less about doctoring to the whole patient. I will not take my son to her again. PLUS, we have had to wait an hour after the time of our appointment every time we have been. read more

I had an experience similar to the previous review. I Googled the address and it took me to their old location on Woodburn Rd (only about 1 mile away). I called them from that location and they informed me that I was at the wrong location and gave me the address for the new one. I arrived at the facility within the 15-minute grace period, but because parking is such a nightmare (another reason to NOT go here), ended up walking in about 1 minute after the 15-minute grace period. There was one other person waiting in the waiting room, so not crowded at all AND they knew I had gone to their old location and, yet, they informed me, very coldly, that I would need to re-schedule. I reminded them that Google had taken me to their old address and they replied they had no control over Google. This is actually the second time I've had issues with the front desk (last time they took forever, were rude, and didn't give me the samples Dr Shahabadi had asked them to give me). Was a patient for 4 years when, Sept 2014, I was offered a Cortex laser procedure at the "introductory price" of $1550.00 that, according to Dr. Shahabadi and front desk staff, would soon be the regular price of $3000.00. I had the procedure. Imagine my surprise and irritation, when 2 months later, I received an email with holiday specials, advertising the same Cortex procedure for $1250.00 with the regular price advertised as $1500.00 (or the same price I was informed was the special introductory discount). I called the office about the discrepancy and requested a $300.00 credit stating I felt I was misled. I was told "sorry," but nothing could be done. Is this the way to treat a loyal patient that has spent at least several thousand dollars over the past 4 years? I will not be returning to this office. read more

I saw Dr. Shahabadi for a laser removal of a brown spot. After it did not respond the first time she proceeded with stronger laser a second and third time. In the meantime she sold me expensive lotions to try and remove the spot. I decided to go to a different dermatologist who immediately suggested a biopsy. Turned out it was a pre-cancerous spot which needed to be removed through a Moh's procedure. The fact that this did not cross Dr. Shahabadi's mind is something anyone considering seeking dermatology advice from her should be aware of. read more

This is the best practice that I have ever been to. The office is very refreshing and almost looks like a spa. The front desk assistants are two of the most helpful and friendly people that I have ever met in a doctors office. Everyone in the office is so well put together and so professional. Dr. Shahabadi is a wonderful healthcare provider. She took the time to hear me out for my issue and gave me copious amounts of information about how to treat and improve my condition. There are signs at the front desk IN RED that clearly states that there are no returns on products, so I'm not sure why people don't understand that. There was a little bit of a wait in the waiting room, but everyone apologized to me and Dr. Shahbadi was very sympathetic. I will definitely being going back. And in my opinion if you return a few months later for a problem that hasn't cleared up then you need to re-evaluate yourself. read more
