If it were possible to get LESS than 1 star for Pera, I would! The service was terrible. When the order finally arrived, my friend's chicken on her salad was dry and over-cooked. Had dinner there Sept 7 and 8 th. The food is delicious, that is why we came twice. However there is not a good vibe from the owner Fahri. It was terribly hot in side, in fact it was 89 degrees at 7: 30 pm. When I saw that the AC read 89 I asked him to please lower it to a cooler setting. He was very loud, agressive and did not "hear" me, as he reiterated over and over that is the temp of the place and the AC has been on full blast for 24 hrs. I was indeed shamed in front of a room full of customers as he refused to put the AC on a lower setting as he yelled at me. As we were leaving he tried to put the blame on the "landlord" and added how difficult it was to find good help. In fact, the first nite we were told the wait would be at least an hour ( the place was nearly empty) as there was only one waitress. Strange vibe in this place - a dominating, abusive man. read more

We have just finished dining at the Pera Bistro and were delighted. The restaurant is small and cozy. We found the service to be very friendly, helpful and efficient. Our appetizers were delicious and the entrees were exceptional. Portions were generous and prices were more than reasonable. I have never had a bad meal...we do take out all the time for lunch and they always make sure we have utensils, napkins and the food is amazing!!! Spent my 40th Bday there are everyone made it so special!!! I was in a food coma for a week!!! I think for the type of food and the quality you of it...it is the most reasonably priced food around!!! I went to Pera tonight. I want to comment on the quality of the chef. Whoever made my food knew what was going on. The cuisine was fresher than fresh. I was also one of two boys in a group of 5. The latter had to leave for a baseball clinic, that's what happens when your talented at baseball in the middle of no where Williamstown. I was not offended by the waitress asking for my ID as it is her job and my face is young looking. She described everything in too great of detail, so if you are a tourist...come here she is amazing. My mom is a hair dresser so I tipped her big. I was with beautiful girls, but the place is not for college students. I'm from south of Boston, so I'm used to blue collar dive bars. But if I was on retirement with my 65 year old husband, 5 stars. read more

My husband and I just finished a wonderful meal at Pera with dear friends who we unfortunately don't get to see very often. Aside from the delicious food--including hearty lentil soup, tasty eggplant salad and beautifully prepared Mediterranean style scrod--the ambience and service were terrific. We didn't feel rushed at all, and actually spent about 3 hours in the restaurant, enjoying our food and reminiscing. It is currently spring break for Williams' students, so not sure 3 hours would work during a more busy time, but still appreciated their graciousness. This is a popular stop for people on the way to the theater or other attractions in the area: it was pretty full on a summer weekend. I had lunch at Pera on a recent Saturday and thought the food was pretty good and affordable. I ordered a chicken kabob warp, which came with a nice small side salad, and a few glasses of white wine. Everything tasted fresh and nice. It was a bit crowded when I was there, there's not much space inside, but the staff was very pleasant, although I did have to wait a bit on my waitress to take my order and refill my glass. Had dinner last night based on favorable reviews on Yelp...We entered after a long day of driving and were given a warm reception from the owner...Very nice ambience but we all felt the food was lacking...The meals were just OK..We finished our meals because we had not eaten all day but I do think your food could definitely be improved without a lot of effort.. Flatbread could have had a little more lamb..it was mostly greens. #1 I love falafels but yours was very dry...with little sauce and lacking in flavor.. #2 the shrimp fra diavolo. was bland and tasted too much like tomato paste .would have thought ut would taste more like fresh tomatoes...not thick sauce.. #3 Chefs special of the day...the mixed seafood was very good..not memorable though. Pera was definitely the best meal of our long weekend in Williamstown. Service was excellent. Owner was so friendly and accommodating, my husband and I came in right after two huge parties were seated. The owner made sure our order didn't get lost. The muscles and white wine sauce were garlicky and delicious, the sauce was perfect. We had a sirloin strip with the most excellent mushrooms. I think the mushrooms were roasted -- they were the highlight of my steak. We finished with the pistachio baklava, it was warm, not too sweet, really worth every calorie. The best I've had in a long, long time. You totally recommend this place. read more

Not super authentic, but very tasty! All of the flavors were perfectly balanced, and it was prepared quite well. My main complaint would be that they didn't bother to get true lavash, only tortillas. One of the waitresses was also super out of it, but everyone else was extremely helpful. read more

Came here for the first time. Can't talk to the wine selection, as we were drinking water (flavored with cucumber). But the food was largely delightful. If you're considering the Mediterranean nachos, definitely get them -- a complete surprise, given the description. The mushroom raviolis were excellent, as was the pasta with chicken and pesto cream sauce dish. My wife said that the baked stuffed shrimp were the best she had, and it is something she has panned in many restaurants. Can't talk about desserts. Pera has its up and downs -- the grape leaves are great, as are some of the other appetizers. I like the falafel and salads too. However, the cusabi sauce they put on everything is pretty strange and unappealing, and I think they'd be a lot better off with a more traditional tzaziki sauce or similar. The fact that their kebabs are served in a cold flour tortilla is also odd and not appealing. They're trying too hard to be creative, and often failing. Also, the elevator music they always play is really annoying. read more

This past Tuesday four long time friends celebrated one of our Birthdays here. (We like to try different places). Much to our delight , we were pleasantly surprised by our choices. Two pasta dishes and two fish dishes. My pasta was perfectly cooked with artichokes and asparagus. --asparagus crisp with a very tasty seasoned sauce. Yum! The fish was a goodly portion cooked to perfection with a creative topping to die for. It is a bit of a drive, but we will be back! The range of appetizers was remarkably ordinary for a Mediterranean restaurant - way short of the usual variety in Turkey. The falafel was freshly made but bland, even after several lemon wedges and the mild liquid wasabi provided. There should be fresh parsley available. The marinara sauce was freshly made from good tomatoes, but lacked herbs so was ultimately boring. The kitchen had put an unidentified cheese on top unadvertised in the menu - it's rare nowadays not to offer fresh parmesan at the table. Table salt had been put into a pepper shaker so it gushed out onto the food. The overhead light flickered between dim and very bright - very annoying, rather 3rd-world. Service was friendly and timely. Overall a disappointment, but maybe my expectations were excessive. read more

I visited the area earlier this week, and ate at Public in North Adams on Friday, and at Pera on Saturday, and I have to say; Pera has very clearly ripped off Public's menu. Literally almost every item on the Pera menu is ripped straight from the pages of another establishment, and I must say that it does a very poor job imitating. The food at Pera seemed slapped together from processed food orders, and the falafel was definitely not made from scratch, as their website claims. Their Pera "Nachos" are very obviously stacey's Pita chips covered with feta from a jar and olives. Worth upwards of the $12 price tag? Absolutely not. Their wine list is incredibly overpriced as well, I understand the need to mark up wine marginally (two or three, even four times the retail price might be acceptable) but to charge $45 for a bottle that's five bucks at the liquor store up the street seems downright criminal. Our waitress slammed our food on the table, seemed very distraught and unkempt, and kept running into the bathroom, not to return for fifteen to twenty minutes, which made trying to get her attention in order to return my overcooked and underseasoned steak impossible to do before it got completely cold. The owner attempted to apologize, but ended up insulting me further, and raising his voice in an attempt to tell me that "that's how it's supposed to be cooked". I love Williamstown, but I will never be returning to Pera. I'd recommend that if you visit the area, you take your business to a restaurant like Mezze or Hops and Vines if you're craving a meal with good food and service. Pera is awful. read more

We came down to stay in North Adams to hit Mass MoCA on the way to see James Taylor in Lenox, MA. My wife suggested Yelp to look for eats. Several places were closed or had limited dinner hours due to it being the day before the 4th, but not Pera. And the pics people took of the food looked well put together and fresh, so we tried it. We were not disappointed. From the smiling owner who got us a perfect corner table, to the constant flow of fresh lemon ice water on a particularly warm evening to start the night. And it just got better from there. Try the Pera Sampler to start; buttery and flaky Spanakopita, homemade falafel and hummus and a warm minty green sauce that even went great with the lamb that I requested atop my wonderful greek salad! There were no pits in the kalamata olives and a light dressing that didn't overpower the great selection of greens and veggies. And don't get me started on those grape leaves! Outstanding! Great cocktails and dessert selections were just icing on what is a truly great Mediterranean bistro experience. Kudos to the staff and chefs at Pera's! We'll definitely be back! read more

I am remiss that I must give this establishment even one star. The service was absolutely atrocious. My husband and I waited over 40 minutes for two wraps, and when it finally arrived they got our order wrong. My husband was served lamb instead of the chicken, but we didn't have the time to wait another 40 minutes for a simple wrap to be served again. Regardless, we took a bite into our lamb wrap, which was disappointing to say the least. Awful, and will never come here again. read more

Tho the staff are great here. I noticed the owner i believe taking tips from tables. Our food tasted a bit sour. The place was some what busy in this small quaint resturaunt. Tho the decor was pleasent i noticed alot of tension and maybe some hostility towards staff from management. The kitchen is close to the dinning room and alot of unpleasent conversation was heard. ItbWasnt a very savory topic to have with our salad. Just wish that the ingredients were more fresh clearly can tell that the veggies and meat were not fresh and the lettuce was warm and wilted our food was not to temp . We didnt wanna complain being that the staff seemed over worked and possible short handed as the owner seemed not to care and just chased around the servers quietly critisizing instead of helping. Upon further research found that the owner has had many failed resturaunts and has had many food safty violations. Pera has alot of potential. Just hope to see the buisness turn itself around or maybe go under new management. There isnt many nice places to eat in short walk from williams college. read more

Terrible experience, all the way around. Rude, intrusive owner, disinterested staff, and low quality food. I had the lamb dinner entree, and it was far and away the worst lamb I have ever had - tough, stringy, and entirely inedible. My wife had a similar experience with her scallops. When we voiced our concerns to our waitress, she rolled her eyes and said she'd pass our concerns along to the kitchen. At no point were we offered any opportunity to try anything else in exchange for our clearly unwanted and uneaten meals. Absolutely avoid Pera at all costs! read more

Years ago I decided that Williamstown was a culinary wasteland, but not so now that Pera has opened up. I enjoyed lunch there with three friends yesterday afternoon before a visit to the Clark Art Institute. The menu lists a varied selection of appetizers or small plates, including mussels and a couple of daily soup specials, six or more salads to choose from, wraps and sandwiches, as well as heavier pasta dishes and entrees to choose from. Bread for the table an extra $1.99 but enough for 4 to share for nibbles before your meal. Three of us had salads - Cookie enjoyed her Med salad - a large bowl of greens with tomatoes, feta, olives, etc.; Stitch tried the spinach salad and appreciated the toasted almonds and apples (a nice change); and TBB dug into a salad with smoked salmon that was loaded with capers (gluten and dairy free). Me, after a three hour morning stint at the gym, devoured an entire falafel wrap, served with "cusabi" dressing (yogurt, cuke and wasabi). This wrap was amazing - a generous serving of perfectly cooked crispy on the outside soft on the inside falafel, tender greens, a simple wrap that was chewy and fresh, and a sinus busting sauce that I asked for more of - it was such a great combo. The sandwich came with kettle chips, salad or fresh fruit: I got a nice little side of fresh pineapple. Staff were attentive, maybe a bit disorganized, still trying to figure out how to parse out service responsibilities, but they were kind and eager. The food was terrific - simple, no surprises, but made with quality ingredients, and the recipes were nicely (even lovingly) executed. Next time I'll try the kabobs!!! read more

Happened to stumble upon this quaint little place while staying at a nearby bed and breakfast. What a great find!!! The food was surprisngly delicious, the atmosphere was lovely and the staff (especially tabitha) was sweet and exceptionally attentive. Being a college town, pera seems to be very accomodating to the local students and staff as well. We plan to be back visiting again and will definitely come back at Pera. read more
