Sierra is the ONLY hair stylist I let touch my hair. I went in after not having my hair done for over half a year because I had been so nervous about having a stranger do my hair. I had moved from AZ to WA last September and my fiancé's grandmother and aunt were both hair stylists who did my hair for me and I trusted them both. Being in WA, they weren't around to do my hair anymore :( I went to Sierra to test the waters with a root touch up and trim. The outcome was GORGEOUS. I'm giving it two stars for the salon itself. It was very clean and beautifully decorated, I love the little pink dryer chair! Unfortunately, I must be the unluckiest person when it comes to getting a good stylist. I had an appointment with Katrina at 4. Man, I didn't get out of there until almost 8. She couldn't find any of her stuff, kept dropping combs and clips and stuff all over. I could not believe how long it took. I wasn't even able to pick my dog up from daycare and had to board her overnight because the daycare closes at 6:30. My husband came with me and after a couple hours asked if they had a place where he could take a nap, I don't blame him. All I did was get my ends trimmed and asked her to fix my layers because they had gaps in them. I also got one small blonde streak on the underside of my hair. Except that it's not blonde. It's a bunch of different brassy shades of yellow with an orange chunk in the middle. It seriously took her an hour just to brush me hair. I'm not kidding. I have really long hair that gets tangled easily, and she spent the entire hour saying "I should've combed it in the sink with conditioner when I was rinsing it out," yet did not take me back to the sink to do so. Because, ya know, spending an hour brushing hair is more convenient. Everyone knows the blow out is the best part of getting your hair did! In this case, my hair wasn't shiny or smooth or even dry all the way through. She left the undersides and roots of my hair very damp. Of course it got poofy and weird and generally looked a hot mess once it air dried throughout. I didn't even complain because I wanted to get the heck out of there already. She was very friendly though and at least apologized for how long it took, and told me I could come back in a week and she'd try to fix my blonde streak. Because my experience was so bad I really don't want her touching my hair again. No way. This is the 2nd hair salon in tacoma that I've had horrible luck with. I obviously can't speak for the rest of the stylists here but I couldn't recommend this salon to anybody based on my own experience. read more

I just had my hair cut and colored by Sophia Van Slyke, one of their stylists and I am extremely pleased. She's creative, easy to talk to, friendly, and knows her stuff as far as hair and makeup goes! I recommend booking with her in advance as her schedule seems pretty busy, which is saying something! I went here on a whim with a groupon. I hate finding a new stylist because you never know if someone is going to do a bad job until it's too late! The woman who cut my hair is named Sarah. She listened carefully to my concerns about not cutting my bangs too short, the type of layers I wanted, and trimming the damaged areas of my long hair. I could tell that she was not a stylist who was just going to turn around and do whatever she wanted. My hair looks exactly how I hoped it would. She did a really great job. Over shaved/trimmed my eyebrow this morning and went in on a wim to get it fixed. Love the girl who waxed it. It didn't get fixed perfectly but that's my own fault for the trim, not hers, she did a great job with what she could! Plus the wax isn't super hot, it's just warm enough that you can ignore it unlike other places where it is scalding. Def will go back for my eyebrows. read more

Very disappointed in Stacey the manicurist who offered an Amazon Local certificate for a manicure and pedicure. I called her numerous times with no response. I visited the salon to request a call back. She finally texts back that she has no availability until the end of January. Please get a refund. So unbelievably rude to a patient and paying customer! She took the time to make sure that she knew exactly what color I was looking for. The color came out better than I could ever imagine! She trimmed and thinned my hair out beautifully, my hair feels so much healthier now. Sarah has been my stylist for the past couple of years now. I began seeing her as a student. Not only is she extremely talented but she has the eye to know what works best for you and your face. I was perusing livingsocial when I saw they had a coupon for a $25 haircut that was normally $50. I had been looking for a new hair salon since at the last one I just never felt comfortable. Always awkward and dreading a haircut. That isn't how it should be. I hadn't had my haircut since last April and my ends were more split than a fork in the road. My hair had no real style to it anymore and I was in desperate need of a trim. Anyways, I scheduled when they opened up and had a little trouble finding the place (damn gps) but I called them and they led me in the right direction on the street haha. I walk in and the place is small, cozy, and nicely decorated. My hairstylist for the day was Courtney and she was wonderful! I sat in the chair and told her how I hadn't had a haircut since April and my hair is a frizzy mess that is damaged to the hilt. The shampoo she used was a nice high quality shampoo. The name escapes me, but I've seen it at Sally's Beauty (that's how you know it's good!) She made me feel comfortable and our conversation flowed really well! I'm an awkward person and trying to hold a conversation with me is like trying to hold a slippery bar of soap in a prison locker room...not a good situation. But we got along great and she cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. She even gave me tips on how to blow out my hair (which I have a hard time doing). She didn't let me see the blow out until it was all done and I LOVED IT. Gone was the Hermione hair and in it's place elegant smooth tendrils that made my face look slimmer and my face more grown up. I've never had such a great experience at a salon and I will definitely be a returning customer! Skip Gene Juarez and go to Platinum Salon! You won't regret it :) read more

HOORAY! She took a long time with me and asked questions so that we were on the same page with what I wanted. I have been back and I always love my hair when she gets done.
