This review is specifically about my experience as a trans femme here. I was unsure about coming here initially, after reading about places like Olympus Spa denying entrance to transgender women. I dress and present feminine, but am visibly AMAB. When I came in with my friend, who is a cis woman, they gave us both the pink sets of clothes and directed us to the womens side without asking or saying a word. Nobody bothered me while i was in the womens locker room and soaking pools, and everyone i encountered was friendly or neutral. Visited on a Monday morning with my mom, just for a day pass (no treatments like body scrub or massage). We didn't know what to expect because of all the recent mixed reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised by our experience. My key takeaway is: This is a decent spa, as long as you don't look too closely! We started in the jjimjilbang and tried out the clay, salt and ice rooms. We had the place to ourselves! The rest area outside of the rooms is a bit dilapidated (reclining beds that didn't seem to function anymore - can't change the position to sitting up or lying down, and we couldn't figure out how to turn out the overhead lighting so we could read), but fine. Then we moved to the private salt room that's only available via the women's locker (smaller room, but seems more recently renovated and a bit cleaner). We followed this up with the women's only steam sauna (very spacious), dry sauna (three levels!) and the hot tub. The "cool" pool was essential for cooling down in between the sauna and the hot tub. The "warm" pool seemed a bit too hot - and not all that different in temperature from the "hot" pool. The spa was very peaceful, and we only crossed paths with a handful of other patrons during our 3.5 hours there. The shower facilities are decent, and the provided shampoo, conditioner and bar soap is fine! Generally, if you look closely, you can see ways the facilities are in need of improvement (peeling paint on the ceiling, rusting fixtures, missing bricks) but our experience overall was decent. It's $45 to enter for the day, but if you buy passes for 10 sessions, the cost reduces to $35 ($350 for 10 passes). My mom noted that the experience helped with her joint pain, so there are certainly therapeutic benefits! Overall, not the best Korean spa I've ever been to, but good enough for me to come back when I'm in town. Also: The woman who works at the front desk is super friendly! read more

I used to love coming here, but quality has gone downhill. The guy at the front desk was sleeping and only spoke when telling me to pay. My body scrub package didn't include some features that it used to include like hair wash and cucumber facial. I asked the lady who barely spoke English and she pointed to the showers for shampoo and conditioner. Overall, minus some services, my body scrub was still good. My skin is silky smooth. As for the restaurant, it's Russian. So don't expect any Korean food like it used to read more

I guess I'll start off by saying it kinda is the only spa in Washington that I kinda know of that's like a spa and that offers separate sides from men and women, but I would say this on the guy side the janitor he's really mean he's not nice at all he's an older Asian guy and I come here all the time and my experience just now after you know multiple times coming here he charged me $50 for a check-in this time and then didn't wanna give me the shorts or the shirt handed me the towel with kind of with anger and I asked him when I was about to leave. I didn't do anything to you for you to be so mad all the time and he just looked at me and side eye me and when I shower, he came in the showers past the stall and was like looking in the corner while I was in the corner of the shower like I don't understand what he was looking for. I was the only one in the shower. He was so clo se to me and made me feel awkward. Made me feel weird. I have a lot more experience here with him being mean, but I'm just gonna leave it at that. I also made six attempts to call them after the first phone call. He has answered the phone. Mike and I said I needed to speak to the manager and I heard him slammed the phone and disconnected. I tried calling six other times and he will not answer the phone no more because he knew that I was going to complaint about him and how he made me feel uncomfortable how he was rude for no reason so I'm writing a review for everyone to know and to show the manager when I go there so to let everyone know, he is one of the reasons why I will not be go here back for him, watching me in the shower and coming really close to my face and looking at places he shouldn't be looking and for being rude and for constantly yelling at me when I did nothing oh and he also lied to me when he charged me $50 for entry which it was not $50. He lied to me that they that they close earlier than what they do just so he can get me out of the place faster. I don't think that's fair that I paid extra to enter and was not even allowed to stay. Palace Spa used to be a relaxing place and a fun treat once or twice a month. Self care is important, right? But, having said that, I'd recommend getting your self-care elsewhere. I will no longer give this establishment any of my money. I've been going here for many years. A few years ago, their was an ownership change. That's when a little gem started to slowly turn into a lump of coal. As will all things mechanical and aesthetic, maintenance is required. They seem to not even do the bare minimum in that regard now. I can only speak to the men's side of the clothing optional Spa areas, as I haven't been in the Woman's areas. But, there are loose tiles in the hot tubs. The tempature of the tubs is also an issue. The "Warm" tub is about right and most of the jets work correctly. The "Cold" tub is cold, but it should probably be about 10-15°F cooler to have actual theroputic value. The "Hot" tub is like warm bath water and most of the jets in that tub barely work or not at all. This has been the condition of the tubs for years now. . The Steam room has been down for many months now. I asked about it the last time I was there and the Eastern European woman who is, I think, a manager of some sort, immediately got argumentative, was rude, defensive and aggressive. All for me asking a reasonable question. She made some excuse about being able to find parts for the stem room. This feature is a very important part of what a facility like this has to offer, and part of what we pay the $40 entry fee for. They offer no discount or other compensation for this inconvenience to their customers. Just a very unprofessional looking sign taped to the window and inside the facility. That's another thing. The customer service is absolutely lacking. This is supposed to be a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. The front desk is often manned by very rude people, especially when the Korean man is working the front desk. He's very rude and if he speaks English at all, I wouldn't know it. He's often busy looking at videos on his phone and ignoring you when you ask a question. No "hello" no "Thank You" nothing at all. He'll just push the credit card machine towards you to indicate you're supposed to pay and gather towels, a locker key and a uniform for you. They also often will be cleaning the facility with hoses drapped across the facility and that feature being shut down during operating hours. This is hardly relaxing and is very unprofessional. How about doing the cleaning when customers who pay to use the facilities you are cleaning aren't there? All in all, what used to be a nice spot is now a complete turd. read more

Honestly I had a really great time here! It's $40 for entry and I thought the workers were fine. They were both Korean and Russian. I am not sure if people leaving bad reviews are familiar with Korean or Japanese public bath houses but this was exactly that, nothing more nothing less. It met all of my needs and it has everything you'd expect at one. The hot hot hot tub was down for maintenance so that was a bummer. But they had the warm tub, cold plunge, sauna and steam room all set up! I thought amenities were totally fine and great, not outdated at all. I didn't have a chance to go to the clay rooms and stuff but next time I will and I think they'll be great! read more

We went really early, it was still empty. Just my family. That was nice. Not too busy. The water was clean. The cold was really cold, the hot was not super hot though. My mom said the water seemed a lot cleaner now than before so that's good, but the place is definitely showing it's age. Major need of a renovation. Small pieces of tile missing here and there. Paint chipping. Lot of rust showing on door frames... etc. You only get one small towel and one large towel. The food options were quite limited. I'm not sure if I would call it a Korean spa anymore. I had a really great time here. The facilities were clean and fresh. The staff were super friendly in explaining things for our first visit. Sadly, I did not have as good of a second visit. My scrub was fine but still painful even though I had soaked for a long time. I got convinced to try the Diamond package, but I actually thought my Premium package (cost $30 LESS) was better last time. The biggest change was that the restaurant upstairs now serves Russian food rather than Korean food. Getting Korean food at a Korean spa is one of my favorite rituals. I ended up getting their ramen and it was basically instant ramen that they had added a few pieces of meat to and charged $15... given that it's basically a Russian restaurant I probably should've known better and just ordered one of the Russian dishes, but I was craving Korean food and settled for the only vaguely East Asian dish. Big mistake. There was also a man in the main room coughing a lot and not wearing a mask, which made me feel uncomfortable. It looks like I'll have to find another Korean Spa now :( read more

Woman at the front desk was incredibly rude, not just to myself & my mother but also to the Korean staff members. Never even lifted her eyes to look at us once and continued her personal phone call on her bluetooth. The facilities were dirty, neglected areas. One out of three tubs seem to stay broken. Had a nice time, very clean and smells good. However you must be barefoot they won't let you wear any flip flops and you can't wear any clothes to the hot tubs. So if you're a germaphobe or worried about that it's something to keep in mind. Went here to get a massage but they were able to convinced me to get the diamond package for $160 I think and it comes with 90 minute body scrub, massage & facial. Never been to a Korean spa so I honestly didn't know what to expect but here are some things that stood out for me: - Everyone is butt naked! No one is allowed to wear anything inside the jacuzzis and massage tables. - They do give you a top and shorts but we didn't end up using it since we had to be naked in the jacuzzi area. I just wish they give slippers, it was pretty slippery inside and I was so scared to accidentally slipped. - If you do the body scrub, they will really scrub your body so hard that you'll come out of there like a new person! They will also scrub places in your body that you haven't even seen! - The massage was painful for me (as you can see in the photo). I got some bruises from it. I don't think I want a massage from this place again. They use some kind of a saucer to massage you. I don't get it, it's painful :( - My body felt really smooth and clean after which is nice but I hope the bruises go away soon. - Not sure if I want to come back, but everyone here is actually friendly and nice. So yesterday on Jan. 1st, 2024 I went there after calling and was informed they'd open until 5 pm. I asked if they had started some type of discount tickets again and the lady behind the counter informs me it's "$160" for 5 tickets so I was confused because the last time I went there was when they had summer discount tickets as I thought them charging $35 for an entrance fee was way too ridiculous and so I stopped going there once the deadline use for the tickets was over. I forget what they charged for 5 tickets (or coupons). So, she informs me that was the price before they raised the entrance fee. So I asked how much the entrance fee is now and she said "$40". Seriously,... $40 Entrance Fee............................................. When comparing that price with the Korean owner with $25 and the new (Russian) owner with $35 ($10 raise at first) and now $40, they hardly have customers (men) going in. There was huge difference with $35 entrance fee and I worried about their business from closing. Anyways, I couldn't see myself wasting $40 just to use why I go there for which is basically for "steam sauna". Sadly, I just don't see them staying open for very long. I wouldn't be surprised if they also raised their price for some other services. You might want to call first before heading over there. Lastly, when they had the other owner and charged $25 entrance fee, they had a lot more amenities. With $35 raised fee, there's no more "lotion", no more "hair gel" like they used to have. There was no "toilet seat covers" for both toilets for quite a few months I went there and noticed. Oh yeah, I think they also replaced the tooth brush with the cheaper kinds as I broke few while using it which never happened before. If you are the manager or the owner here's how much I used to spend: - When it was $25 entrance fee, I bought 5 tickets for $112 or something like that AND I bought them after I use all 5. Therefore, I used to spend like over $800 to $900 a year. - When you raised the fee from $25 to $35 and at first you did not offer any type of tickets, I only went 2 or 3 times the WHOLE YEAR. Another word I only spent $70 or $105 for the whole year comparing to $800 to $900 a year!! read more

Me and my friend met here for a spa date. It's was our first time. Off top I love the lockers they offered for our shoes and personal items. The fee for the day spa is affordable. We did not have any of their massage services but we were able to see them. Day spa experience only! COVID cautious person. Not that many guest during our visit. We were able to relax and pace ourselves. Mask was requested to wear, but some people were not always wearing in the right rooms. Upstairs on one side was female only. Everything was convenient and easy to follow. Spacious rooms and jacuzzis. Downstairs was co-ed. One room was out of order but everything else was open. Sizes of room was comforting for space and relaxing. Over all we enjoyed our experience and plan to return for one of there services. read more

booking the service online was easy. When I arrived at the appt, front desk was cordial. There's a lot of signs instructions hard to follow through. The reason why I choose this location is shorter commute and found that place is rather quiet, private so it's good. But locker room is a little cramp if more than 2 people are changing there. Although not quite understand when I asked for Kim for my whole service, I got cindy in the end / because i got the tip envelop with cindy on it. Regardless, the service was decent, didn't state will wash your hair, but they do wash your hair in the service. Massage is a bit in a rush and little lack of rhythm but it's fair for price paid. The building has cafe on top level, but I felt the cafe short of authentic korean food menu. i.e. french fries and salad is not something enticing after a good scrub and massage, rather a nice bowl of brothy soup, and a good cleansing fresh squeeze juice blend would be more like it. When I asked about juice , only offer coffee and tea, juices are bottled sold at reception area, kinda disappointing. Then there's the nail spa next to reception area, since they have full list of service they offer, i asked about waxing services, turns out most waxing applicable for MEN only ( i hardly doubt these days men do waxing in a korean spa... ) I were to think more women will use the nail spa services . Value of the scrub bath is good, just not good to utilize all other services such as restaurant and nail spa. If it had to do with change management therefore not as authentic korean and making others get a juice and meal elsewhere by putting on their clothes and leave inconveniently. Hopefully that can be improve . Otherwise, it's probably serve one single purpose. read more

we visited today and we're very disappointed that no one mentioned that the two out of the three hot tubs jets were not working. Then one of the other hot tub was completely out of service. The body scrub was very good along with the moisturizer. The receptionist behind the front desk was not very friendly never even said thank you for coming or if we had any a nice time. This business has consistently gone downhill. My friends have enjoyed our scrubs and using the day spa many many times. However the cleanliness this last visit was terrible. Perhaps it's because we always have gone in the morning and this time we went in the evening and they're not cleaning the facility as they should throughout the day if so that needs to change. They are supposed to have three soaking tub, one hot, one warm one cold ---only the warm one was functional. This is not shared to us when we called a day before to book our services.. in fact we weren't made aware of it until we saw a sign handwritten on the front desk. After we had paid for our services. We may decide to drive up to Tacoma and use the Olympus spa up there. Hopefully it's better. I can't see ever going back to the place spa in Federal Way. And that's really sad because it used to be fantastic. read more

Stinky, dirty, water with floating film and hair; creepy old dudes just staring and looking at other people bodies, person with cell phone out may or may not be taking photos of people, steam sauna not working, tiles falling off the wall, empty hygiene products (paper towels, soaps. Ect), rude front desk staff, people getting into pools all sweaty and gross without rinsing off first, group of men just yelling, screaming, Laughing - not sure what this place is or what's going on here but it's not safe and it's not healthy...city should get involved here and investigate this place. I really enjoyed my time at this spa! My only reason it did not get 5 stars is the rules are confusing. For first timers... 1. You must wear a swim suits or go nude in the watered area, steam room and sauna (for women). 2. In the same areas above you do not wear shoes or even sandals. 3. They provide clothing for you to wear in the downstairs area which is the cold room and other rooms they show. 4. They do have a lockered area and they refer to your services by your key number (locker key number) not your name. Random rules you don't know of that would be helpful to have online. Have you ever walked in to a business and the person at the counter barely acknowledges you? Well that happened. Then she talked down to me and treated me like I should be lucky to be there. I know customer service has taken a huge plunge the last few years but this was ridiculous. It was my first time there AND my last time. I spoke with a friend who experienced the same RUDE BEHAVIOR from the same woman. She said her name was "Nadia", but I don't know if that's true because I had to ask her for her name a couple of times and she did not want to give it to me. That happens when they know they're wrong. Oh, and if you do go and book a Body Scrub, bring your own lotion. For $95, they don't include any moisturizing/lotion after the scrub....but before your service, they will upsell you moisturizing for another $25! Not for me! Same ol' place as far as I am concerned. A bit improved here and there. A bit more maintenance would be good. Prices went up but are still perfectly reasonable. I do find the clothing issue in the men's wet areas both odd and confusing. Is it clothing optional, must wear swimsuit, must not wear clothes? Which is it? And then enforce it so it's not confusing. I'd personally rather not have to wear clothing in the hot tubs and such, but it's not a big deal. Just needs signage and clarity and enforcement whatever it is. read more

Oh dear, I so wanted this Korean spa to be a nearby go to. It's not happening. The place is clean and it's bare-bones. I enjoyed the pools and the steam and sauna rooms. I was there for a scrub and that is where the entire problem lies. First of all the scrub ladies wanted us to start early so they could go home. Then they gave us a pretty strong pitch on coming once a month. Then they gave us a tip envelope and ask if they could get paid early. Then the person that had already received her trip complained that I put it on a credit card and that she wouldn't get the correct amount. This was a lot of hassle. if it had been just one thing it would've been different. The scrub service itself was fine but I will not be going back. The energy there isn't good and you really need good energy to relax at a spa. Too bad. read more
