It took nearly 2 weeks from my initial inquiry just to get sent a questionnaire. After filling that out, it took nearly 3 more weeks to hear back regarding estimates, and then yet another week to actually receive those estimates. After having to wait for almost 6 weeks, I was then told my estimate would expire in 7 days. Due to a family emergency that came up, I wasn't able to accept within that time frame. I reached back out shortly after, apologizing for the delay and asking if they could extend or resend the estimates. No response. After seeing photos of their work online, I was really looking forward to booking them, but that never happened. I realize they're a small company, but I don't understand why any of this communication would or should take THAT long. And even if they weren't able to resend my estimate for whatever reason, ANY response would have been appreciated over silence. I think it's a bit inconsiderate to make brides, who are actively trying to compare/book vendors, sit around forever in hopes of getting a reply. Ultimately, it worked out in the end. I booked someone else who responded promptly and had rates that I felt were more reasonable. (ChelanGlam quoted me a rate of $860 just for bride hair/makeup, plus trial, which was a few hundred dollars more than any other estimate I was given for the same services.)

However, when I had my surgery in October a beautiful group of mates got together and bought me a gift card! So, today I did something I haven't done in 12 years. I got my hair cut and when I explained to Morgan, the girl who cut my hair, that I cover my head for religious reasons she didn't even blink! I was treated with great respect and care! Then when I told her I am allergic to lavender she inspected every bottle to find what she needed that didn't have lavender. Additionally, it was my mates birthday and so I treated her to a pedicure and they helped me to make it extra special to celebrate her! Lastly, due to my health issues I can only my use clean products, they only use Aveda products for hair and skin, and they use Dazzle Dry nail varnish, which has no toxic chemicals! I wanted my long hair cut straight across in the back, some layers, thinned at the bottom, textured at the crown and the tone of my color at the time changed. None of this happened. 1. Issues with stylist. I was unhappy with my cut and the salon or stylist has yet to resolve. a. Got my hair done April 24th. Stylist took 40 mins to finish the girl in her chair. My appointment was for 3, she started me at 3:40. I just had a baby and have 5 kids so time is limited. b. I let the girl know I was unhappy with my last cut because it was longer on 1 side. She did the same thing but worse. My frame pieces are about 1 1/2 INCH longer on the right. Like left side starts at chin and right starts at collar bone. Looks like shit up. I tried to fix but the right is still longer because it needs razored. c. I hated the tone of my hair went I went in and I was adamant about my disgust for the color. My roots are dark ash and the color on my hair was brassy. She did not have a jade toner to fix it but didn't tell me that until after she put highlights in. So my brown is the same color. I would have paid for 2 colors but didn't know that was an option until she hurried me out the door because she wanted to go home. d. Stylist charged me 5$ more for every service. Cool for a master stylist lol. e. Didn't put in conditioner or flat iron my hair. She wanted to curl it to hide the mistake. She did put olaplex oil in but not the same. f. There is a huge blob of bleach in the front framing pieces. g. She said it was too tricky to cut long hair one length in the back and cut it in a V shape. No texture and didn't thin the ends. My hair is thick and heavy. 2. They are independent contractors not employees. Salons hold employees more accountable than contractors. a. I was unhappy and didn't want the same girl. Since they are contractors you have to go back to the same person. So they don't care if you are unhappy. Salons with Employees would have a manager or owner fix your hair. b. I left a message the next day for the owner or a manager to call back and 3 1/2 weeks later nothing. c. Even if I scheduled with the girl who screwed up my hair she doesn't have an appointment until may 27th a the month after my date. I was told I would have to wait a month to get my hair fixed. At that point it would be a whole nother haircut. I don't like to pay good money for crap hair or to go back or get shot down to go back to get it fixed. NTM I don't get much time off the kids so I wasted it here. I'm going to try 2nd ave Salon in Yakima and pay $70 for a better haircut.

I've been receiving so many compliments with my new cut and color. His salon is intimate, cozy, and all around gave me the sense of well being, healthier and much more sustainable (we share the same values) than other salons. If you practice mindfulness, you'll absolutely love this place. Dusty gives you the attention you won't get at a corporate salon. There's street parking in the neighborhood street and a cute patio outside before you enter the salon. He takes the time to get to know your wants and needs and he can translate that beautifully when he loves your hair up. When I reached out on Yelp, he responded quickly and made sure to make the booking experience a good one and answered all of my concerns with dying my hair. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and I will continue to go to KOH salon for as long as it exists and refer people here. Looking forward to collaborating with him in future photo shoots.
