Absoultely terrible service, employees act like they did not want to work. Only took what was on top/ on the side instead of looking through the entire large size cardboard box which was filled with nice teen clothes, some even still has tags on them. ZERO STARS if possible... It was horrible, they scammed my mother and I who were trying to sell stuff there clothes we never or hardly wore saying the quality was bad, I looked up places we could sell and Plato's was one of them "good selling places" It was run by like 4 teens. They basically stole our money so my expensive stuff was only $6 I'm assuming and my mother who brought in 5 bags worth of stuff said she had a few things for $10 we had big bags and really didn't notice a difference in amounts in the bags assuming it was only a shirt or something they gave us a time frame of when they'd be done checking and sorting and it was 4:36 when we gave them our stuff and they said they'd be done by 6:15 so we went home for a bit only for 30 mins later for them to send us a message that they sorted our stuff. When we left and checked our bags the clothes were still folded the same way we left them and it looks like they only checked the stuff on top... So honestly if your going to sell here you're better off doing a yard sale... read more

I used to love coming to this location but ever since new management took over , the customer service is lacking . If you can avoid this location , I suggest doing so. The employees they hire most likely don't have any retail or customer service experience based off of the way they treat customers. Mostly high school kids. They also don't take out the time to look through each item with patience. The whole process is very rushed. My most recent experience: I dropped off a small bag of clothes at 3:02pm. The associate seemed nice enough & explained to me that it will be about 20 minutes before my buy is processed. Then after she made that statement she also said , and I quote , "but I also have to look through this huge bag of purses and I don't know shit about purses so it might take longer than 20 minutes so you can come back later if you want, as long as it's before 9pm. " I was shocked that they allow her to use that type of language with customers. I picked out 3 items that I wanted to purchase but since my buy would take some time, I asked another associate if he can put them on hold for me while I go run some errands. He said sure and took them. I was surprised he didn't ask for my name but I didn't think too much about it I came back at 3:46pm to check on my buy and it still was not finished. I also waited in line behind another female who seemed irritated and stayed she had been waiting over an hour for her buy. At that point I knew I wouldn't be getting mines anytime soon. I had to leave so I decided to come back later in the evening. I came back at 6:45pm and low and behold my buy STILL wasn't ready. Not only was it not ready but it was sitting on the ready shelf. The associate asked me when I dropped it off . I said about 3 hours ago and she said OMG it hasn't been done. WOW she then proceeded to ask another associate what happened with my buy and this associate said I'm not sure it must've been someone else here earlier . Then I looked at her and realized it was actually her who told me that it would be 20 minutes. So I said no , it was you . She didn't seem to care, ran to the back room , grabbed a bag of clothes that I am assuming she had on hold for herself or was returning and asked another associate to check her out. I was shocked that there was no sympathy for my loss of time. No one seemed apologetic. To make matters worse, the 3 clothing items that I put on hold, yup you guessed it , GONE! I asked the associate and she shrugged and said oh they must've put it back by accident ARE YOU KIDDING ME ?? I was able to find one of the items on the racks but the other two items, I looked everywhere and couldn't find. I was very disappointed . One of the associates simply said I'll hurry and process your buy, sorry for the wait. So of course she sifted through the bag, pulled out a few things and offered me $25 . Whether that's what the items were worth, I'll never know, but I definitely don't think my things got the attention they should have because all the employees there only seemed to care about getting off the clock Horrible experience and I will never be back. read more

I took a bag full of cloth, brand names, cloths that are brand new with tags on. I left the store and not even 5 minutes after I left I received a txt saying my buy was ready. They didn't take anything which I guess it was ok seeing all their reviews? They can just give you whatever excuse they want? Their excuse this time is that they only take teen cloth and all the styles were outdated, I had cloth I bough back in 2022 but ok let's say everything was outdated and not teen related, which I am not a teen and I go buy stuff there and I told them that and I know the brand they can take in but ok. I went to grab the bag from their bin, it was ripped there was no way I could get all the cloth I had brought in, in that ripped bag. All the cloth was hanging from the bin they had it in, all the cloth disorganized at least if you are not buying my cloth just put it back in the bag they don't don't have to be perfectly folded like I had it but just don't give them to me like if they are garbage. I go here every now and then. Tend to bring clothes I don't wear anymore to Plato's Closet to get some extra cash. More so during my college years. The staff here is friendly and attentive. Greets you as you walk in the door. Longest I have ever wait is less than an hour for them to sort through my clothes. I usually leave, have lunch around the area, and come back. It's all planned into my schedule. Seems like I always bring a good batch though since I get decent cash back. P.S. - They don't pay much for your clothes so don't expect too much. But to make a little more, bring a lot clothes. Preferably, brand names such as: American Eagle, Hollister, and Abercrombie. Get rid of those and Plato's Closet will take them if they're in good condition. read more

I've heard of Plato's Closet multiple times but I didn't know what to expect. I've been to two locations (Duluth and Buford). They were both completely different experiences. At the Duluth location, the store is relatively small and has a genuine thrift store aura. The employees welcomed me in and instructed me to fill out their customer form and that they would text when the clothes were finished. The anticipated time was 30 minutes but it ended up being 20 minutes, which was commendable. They gave me almost $30 for 7 articles of clothing so I was pleasantly surprised. On the other hand, since the Buford location had more customers, the employees informed me that it would be a two hour wait. The store was much larger than the Duluth location and although I didn't look at the clothes, I'm sure they had a greater selection. The text letting me know the clothes were finished arrive exactly 2 hours just as they had stated. They offered me $12 for 3 articles of clothes and although it wasn't nearly as much as the Duluth location, I was still satisfied. I will definitely be visiting Plato's Closet again some time in the future. read more

Upon first glance I knew something was odd about this place. I was just in to buy some jeans for my expanding fat ass. A few other new pieces would be nice too. I went toward the rack with my jean size then took it up a knotch as like I said, my ass is bigger. I didn't see anything that liked, even though they looked decent enough. The prices were good too, but still, this was no Ross. In addition, the floor girl was hovering. She kept coming to the jeans rack fiddling about for no reason. I felt I was being watched. So I moved on. OK, so no jeans for me here, I went through the rest of the store to look at other things for which I might be interested. Everything looked a bit...off. I'm a sucker for costume jewelry and that is the only thing that I liked in the store. I picked out a pair of earrings for 2 bucks and went to check out. The saleslady seemed dissapointed that I had been in the store for 20 minutes and only found a funky pair of earrings for 2 dollars. After telling her that I had outgrown my jeans and was looking for a few pair to replace them, she asked me to bring them in. Wait...what! This place is a used...um...GENTLY used clothing store? So THAT what was off about the place. I'm glad my senses are keen in my old age. I could tell something was weird. Things just did not seem crispy. It explains why the prices were cheap, too. From a selling standpoint t's pretty bad. I often bring by my gently used clothing that's usually Gap or J Crew or the likes branding, no blemishes or anything.... I get maybe 10$ for four items of clothing, and it's very unpredictable as far as what they'll accept. IE, today, I brought a wide variety of tops and dresses and shorts/pants, and only a few tops were chosen which were older more simple t-shirts. Found this as a surprise. Another extremely annoying thing is that the young adults in this location simply threw all my neatly folded and arranged clothing into a large trash bad when they were finished, that was pretty rude I thought considering it nearly put holes in the bag that I then brought to Goodwill. I had a really good experience here. Came early Saturday morning with a bag full of stuff. I got a little over $40 which is probably 25% of what the stuff was worth, but it's more than the $0 I would have got if I donated it to goodwill. There were some things they didn't take. I didn't ask why and they didn't explain. I think those clothes are still good and will gladly give to goodwill. While I was there I also bought two dresses, so I guess technically I didn't come out ahead by that much since I gave the money right back, lol. read more

This place is such a dump! I understand that I perhaps do not fit the profile of a typical Plato's Closet customer anymore (aka I am not a teenager), but I used to love the Plato's Closet in Raleigh, North Carolina back during college so I know what a Plato's Closet should look like, and this isn't it. First off, the racks are so crowded you can barely walk around. The place is dimly lit and it is just not an enjoyable experience to shop here. Instead, I recommend stopping by the Nearly New shop on Howell Mill as it is a lot more spacious and you'll be sure to find better items. read more

This is the third (and last) time I've attempted trying to sell my clothes to Plato's closet, sadly from a selling stand point, it's not worth it. I took a bag full of " popular name brand" clothes still with tags, and they didn't take any of them. I ended up getting only 13$ just for a pair of 60$ converse and 25$ pair of heels and two shirts . Which seems like a rip off, honestly you're better off selling your clothes on your own. I have been going to this location for over 5 years. I definitely am know as a customer. I have sold clothes more than just being in GA. If we don't bring in times the stores can't sell items and make money. I have recently seen a shift in management and it's as if the entire staff that used to be here in gone. When you go to any other location even on a slow day it takes about 30-45 mins or more to go through your items. This location the last 4 times have not even looked through my items. They send me a text with in 10 mins with their long list of an explanation. When I bring up the treatment these last few times, of course no answer. I believe in equal and fair treatment amongst customers and I definitely have seen unfair treatment. I'm not pressed, I just love to support local small business. I have never experienced what I have been in any other location but this one now. So I purposely placed items a certain way, and had things placed in between others just so I could test this location. I wanted to be sure I wasn't being bias myself. As long and behold, nothing was touched! Looked through what so ever! So sad. I wouldn't waist your time supporting this location. The staff here aren't that friendly or helpful except the one black cashier (whose name I was determined to remember & can't right now) who checked me out. It was my first time venturing in and I found a great pair of shoes that retail for $80 for $30 so for that reason alone I will be returning. The store is a bit overcrowded and crammed so be prepared to be uncomfortably close to other shoppers. I visited this location on Thursday, April 12th at 11:20AM after doing some spring cleaning and gathering about 24 items that I no longer needed. I've been in Plato's closet before, so I attempted to sell them there. I asked if they were buying jeans and the tall male employee said yes and gave me the information card to fill out. He told me that it would take 20 minutes. There were several other orders on the counter, so I casually looked around the store as I noticed him making minimal effort to look through the bags. Because the store is overcrowded with overpriced STUFF, I decided to walk down to Staples and spend about 15 minutes in there. By the time I came back, the employee was helping other customers make a purchase and he said that he wouldn't be able to buy any of my items because they were all flare jeans. First and foremost, I know exactly what I had in my plastic bin--19 pairs of women's jeans, two pairs of men's jeans, one men's sweater and and two blouses--every item was mall brand or name brand! Not one pair of jeans was "flare" in fact two pair were skinny, the rest were boot cut as the labels noted. The men's jeans were carpenter jeans and j crew straight leg jeans. Once I got to the car, I noticed that all of the items were folded just as I brought them, so he couldn't have made an informed decision in passing over my clothes. I don't take it personally; I just don't appreciate being lied to and not receiving even the consideration of him objectively going through my items. I would never shop here! read more

For teens and young adults, shopping here gets them pretty nice clothing, etc., for a reasonable price. However, I just took in a large quantity of very nice, gently used and some NEW (with tags still on) jeans, tops and blouses. Granted, not everything was necessarily a teenager's "top brand", but everything was all known, popular name-brands. Jeans were all "skinny" and other items all "trendy". The young man who took the stuff rejected 90% of it, saying it was due to "condition"? Everything I brought in was in perfect condition, so what the heck was that all about? If you're into reselling you're items this location is a complete waste of time. Ever since new ownership/management it has completely fallen off. I have been a reseller with Plato's Closet for over 5 years and have been selling items overall for a span of 15 years. I recently noticed in the past 4 months a change in how the staff and management view customers items when selling and personally experienced, noted, and expressed how they were not going through each individual piece and were picking a few items from the top and completing the search. I come in with a nice amount of items where I'm first told it would take an estimated 20mins to go through for just my items when no customers are ahead of me. I sign in my items and 2mins later I get a text that my items are completed. I gave this location 3 attempts to make sure I wasn't imaging things with the shift and also brought in a witness with me to triple check what my eyes were seeing. I like to give the benefit of the doubt however after 3 strikes you're out. There are plenty of other resell locations in GA that I also visit which it doesn't affect me to make the choice to no longer come here, this one was just convenient from my home and never had issues prior to the recent interactions. It's just a bit disappointing though due to the fact that people take time out of their day to clean out their closets and time to commute to this location to only receive a half ass job and service from a store that only has inventory/product due to customers bringing in items for them to sell! On more than one occasion I have visited this location to consign. As a more mature person, you get this "oh no" look as soon as you enter with items. What the clerk did not was that the items were not mine; however, it was evident that she assumed it. I dislike coming to this location. Its too small, some of the workers are rude. The Plato's in snellville has seats to sit on in front of the fitting rooms, they don't have that here. The workers don't work around customers. They expect us to move while they suck on lollipops to put the clothes back onto the rack. Literally. They arent very accomodating to their customers. I came here once before and didnt think they had a restroom until i saw one open so i took my niece. I came again with my 8 month pregnant sister and knocked on the bathroom door to see if it was vacant only to have an employee tell us they didn't have a restroom when I used it before. Are you joking? She's pregnant! Its not very professional but that's expected for the type of store it is. I only gave 2 stars for the small handful of co workers that are nice and because my sister and brother in law were able to find clothes here than other locations. This review is referring only to the young man who decided to ignore me waiting in line to open his register once to other people got in line behind me. He then took both of them and yet I stood there waiting. He then went back to folding clothes even after seeing me standing there waiting to be checked out. My cashier as well as the nice young lady stocking was very pleasant and I informed them both I would address the young man before leaving on his poor customer service which I did. I let him know I thought it was rude of him to overlook me and serve everyone else. He responded that he didn't see me although he looked me in the eye several times while I was in line and I was right in front of where he was folding. I spend a good bit of money at that store so much so I am about to cash in my second discount card in less than 6 months. I don't have issues at that store and my only hiccup was I wish they had more space to move around. This young man needs some formal training in customer service if he intends on continuing in this line of work. I might need to look into trying out the North Druid Hill location. read more

I've been to a few Plato's before so I understand the concept. I was really just selling but as I browsed the store they had a great selection of items especially season appropriate. So many sweaters to choose from and plenty of jeans and coats. Even an aisle of summer items considering how much the weather changes here. The associate I dealt with was really nice, a Hispanic young lady with dark hair. There were a few other associates who didn't seem happy as it showed on their faces. I get it though, it's work. I will also say the location is terrible for business. There's hardly anything around them in that particular plaza. It was hard to find. read more

First time posting...unfortunately this is a negative review. l live near this location so I've stopped in here a couple times to sell clothes and sometimes trade. I know I'm never gonna get more than enough money here to put more than half a tan of gas in my car but it never hurts to try. The most I've got here before is about $40-50 and I just think they were being really generous that day. On this particular day I didn't feel like driving all the way to Rag-O-Rama (love that place btw) after i did my season closet purge. First, when I got inside I was told "it would be about a 30 min wait". The store wasn't that busy at the time so I decided to wait inside as it was extremely to hot to sit in my car. It ended up being over an hour before anyone ever touched my clothes. I don't know the process of what goes into checking clothing ( I had maybe 12 pieces tops) so not all bad except I saw one girl dump my clothes on the counter...pick up my pair of sneakers that I brought in while her co-worker commented that "they looked horrible". (That was not an insult considering how she was dressed herself but all in all, still very rude). I walked away. Waited another 30 min kept coming back to the counter...no one had still touched my clothes. (The girl who dumped my clothes on the counter clocked out and went home before ever starting.) The girl who said "my shoes were horrible" told me my clothes were next after I mean mugged her. Walked away again. Came back she and her friend were eating something out of a jar at the front counter. Promised that my clothes were almost done. Came back again she asked me why my shoes looked the way they did (They were designer sneakers that were made to look grunge-y, didn't expect her to understand but she could have asked me that over an hour ago when she told her friend "they looked horrible"). Finally, my grand total was a whopping $20 (including the shoes that I spent over $100 for, price tag still on the sole). Like I said, I never expected to get much but I'm a big stickler for customer service. The quality of clothing that they sell and clothes they accept don't add up...but they again the store is for mainly teeny-boppers and men. If you want a cheap club dress definitely go here. The store is small but mostly clean (that;s what the one star is for). If you want good customer service...go to Macy's(?) I'll be driving to Rag-O-Rama every time from now on. read more
