They offer like $1 to buy a designer shirt with tags still on it. It looks like they are just taking advantage of poor people and buying obviously stolen things from a long line of desperate homeless people. They will buy their bag of stolen clothes for pennies on the dollar then shoo them out not letting them shop around even though it seems 90% of the inventory is from them because no rational person would sell to them. read more

I am very disappointed in my Buffalo Yelp friends for not encouraging me to go to the location in our area! This places was amazing with the kind of deals on clothes I like - Affliction - Roar - Rock Revival - and my wife was equally impressed with whatever stuff she likes - it's my review so I review my stuff here! Though the place was a bit cramped it was cramped for all the right reasons. Plenty of guys stuff to rummage through and plenty of super buys for ME - YES! Prices were all right there and clearly visible - pricing was excellent in my opinion and the staff was really friendly and fast at the checkouts - place was clean and organized too! It's surely a place I would return to AND check out in our own area too! read more

I have a great experience from the second I walk in the door! The girls recognize me and always say hello and greet me with smiles, I am there often and sometimes many times a week but for good reason; me and my husband always enjoy looking through the racks. My daughter also is a fan and has learned that even though it's nice to buy your own new things it's even better to get more for your buck here!!! I have never had a bad experience here at Platos and their manager Jenn she's just fabulous!!! Keep on girls you all are doing great!!! read more

The staff at this store are amazing! They are always extremely nice when I come in, and boy it's often because I'm always revamping my closet! They always have designer brands like PINK and even Michael Kors purses. Always generally pleased coming here. read more

One of the LESSER of the Plato's I've visited. Selection wasn't very good. Prices average. Usual hit and miss, more miss than hit.

I had an awful and very unpleasant experience at the Erie, Pa location. The manager Jennifer Schuster was very unpleasant to work with and had terrible customer service experience. When I asked for help and fashion recommendations she seemed very distracted and was extremely unhelpful and unpleasant. I don't know if I went on a bad day for her, or if she had been treated badly when she last visited Layne Bryant. Whatever the circumstances I will never return and can't believe how terrible I was treated. Sadly to say I will not be visiting Ms. Shuster anytime soon.!!! read more

Don't try selling Designer brands here. This location is more interested in retail stores locally. If your attempting to sell from a brand or store not located in Erie, they are likely not to buy it. The majority of young women's clothing is from Pink/Victoria Secret, American Eagle, Abercrombie, Kohl's, Macy's, and yes Walmart. I've even seen things on sale there that were promotional gifts from Victoria's Secret. Really, so if someone purchases $75.00 or higher at VS/Pink sometimes you get a free promotional gift such as a tote bag or flip flops, blankets..... I've actually seen these items on sale here. I lived in Erie for two years and I can't claim I ever had a good experience at this location, especially when it comes to selling, but I'll start with the buying experience: Buying: The store is disorganized and haphazard. There is an awful cheap perfume stench from the moment one walks in the door. Sometimes, items were in such poor condition or style that I couldn't understand how they were ever bought. I saw items on the racks that were in style when I was in middle school (I'm in my 20s now), and I also saw items that were Walmart or Kmart brands. While I understand brand name isn't everything, Plato's boasts itself as a discount retailer of GENTLY USED, BRAND NAME items that young people want at a bargain price. So please tell me why they are clogging up their racks with Faded Glory and then turning away people trying to sell the Victoria's Secret, Abercrombie and Fitch, etc in great condition? In addition, while sometimes their prices were great, I sometimes found them to be a good bit higher than would would expect for used items. It seems that their pricing is inconsistent. I went there looking for a pair of tennis shoes for my fiance. Many times, I found that the prices on these USED and presumably at LEAST one year old shoes were worse than the prices I'd found at our outlet mall on the sale rack. Why would I pay the same amount for used shoes that I can pay for brand new ones? Selling: Selling is an even worse experience at this location than buying. We were usually greeted with attitude because the employees would have to stop gossiping behind the counter and actually do their jobs. My fiance and I usually only buy brand name clothing, so I never thought we'd have too much trouble selling here- but I was wrong! Many times, our clothing was new with or without tags, an example being some Christmas gifts that didn't fit and didn't have a gift receipt. The staff was very rude and made us feel as though we had brought in clothes from the 1800s or something. These were clothes that had been on a mall rack LESS THAN TWO MONTHS PRIOR. They were brand names like Victoria's Secret, Ralph Lauren, etc. Now, I understand that more than just how nice the clothes are goes into accounting for what the store will take, such as how much of a certain item they already have, but as I mentioned in my buying section of the review, they often clog their racks up with cheap, heavily worn clothing and then can't (or won't) take the good stuff when it comes in. I also got the impression that they didn't even go through my items on multiple trips, as the bags remained tied in just the way I tied them and hadn't been moved from where I watched the employee set them down when I dropped them off. After one particular experience, I decided to do a little experiment. The next time I took clothing in to sell, I arranged them in a certain way in the bag, so that I would know if they had been gone through. When I went to pick them up and was told nothing could be bought- I checked the bag and- SURPRISE they hadn't been gone through. I'm glad I am now moved away from this location, and hopefully the one near me now is better, but if I were still living in Erie I would NOT be going back. read more
