This is the worst place to sell your stuff. On the window it says "we buy all seasons, all the time!" NO YOU DONT! That's a filthy lie. They are so rude and unfriendly here it's ridiculous. They talk right in front of the customer about bad clothes they looked at that were out of style or not in season. They turn away so many things for that reason. Worst experience. The workers are not friendly nor very helpful throughout the process. I stood there as I watched a worker sort through my clothes while talking to another worker and not even paying attention to the items. You're lucky if they buy two shirts off of you. Very bad customer service, horrible manners and the place is in dire need of a new treatment towards its customers and operations. I sure as hell will not be returning here and I don't recommend this place to anyone. I've been to 4 other Plato's Closet and this is the best one I've ever visited. I love their style and their dresses are so cute and cheap!!!!!! Sometimes they'll have clearance days; I think that usually happen when the season is changing. I bought three dresses there during their clearance day, and each one is on average of $3-$5. So happy with this deal!!! Hopefully they have clearance more often! And one time I went there, every clearance item is $1!! (But I went late, so all the pretty items seems to be gone already:( ) I love this plato's closet! But I do feel their accessory items are kind of blah. The bracelets, necklace, and even begs and belts, are usually not very nice looking, old, and way too old-fashion. I can buy a brand new and even cheaper accessory on Amazon. I've never sell anything here though, so can't say about the experience selling clothes. read more

It was my first time there and I went off of a friend's recommendation. I had a large number of clothes because my grandmother hobby was shopping. It ranges from all sort of brands and they were all in great condition. No holes and folded up nicely. I brought 2 bags only because of the review but I wanted to give it a try. The minute I enter into it seem like a nice place but after that everything went south. I told them it was my first time and the girl behind the counter gave me such a bad attitude. The kind where they don't want to explain anything to and why are you here look. I nudge it off just thinking maybe she had a bad day. So I told her I'll wait for the clothes and went to the shop to browse around. I saw the sweater being priced for $12 and shirts $5. So I thought I'll get roughly half the price that they are selling for. NOPE! they took 4 items and i got only $15.25 out of it. So not even $4 per item. I decided to go ahead because I was there for such a long time and decided I'm better off selling on Poshmark or at a garage sale by the bulk. They didn't put anything back nicely and found a few holes in some of my knitted items. I knew they weren't there because I tried them on before I gave it to them to see if I still wanted to keep them. The clothes there are okay. A large amount has holes or some stains, which I personally don't understand what they were looking for. They do have a few good items but I'm better off going to Marshalls to buy it. There is clothes all over the floor and broken hangers everywhere. I wanted to try on a few items and another girl rolled her eye as it was a hard task. The only person that seems to enjoy their job there is the gentleman restocking the clothes. If you don't want to be there I'm sure you don't have to. I won't be back unless I have ripped clothes that i know worth the money they will give. Honestly don't bother!! read more

I drove 45 minutes all the way to this location and the rude cashier immediately yelled at me "we stopped buying at 3! Bye." without even greeting me first or anything. I looked at the time and it was 3:02pm. Extremely rude staff whenever I've come in here. They also mess up a lot. I've brought in bags of clothes here and they returned them to me with MISSING items that they did NOT pay me for. I've also walked out with my bags of clothes and realized that they put someone else's stuff in my bag and I had to go back and return it. Always careless and incompetent employees here. I try to give places the benefit of the doubt, but this place is consistently disappointing. read more

Convenient enough to help get rid of your wardrobe that no longer fits, but wouldn't go out of my way to come back here again unless I'm desperate for fast cash. Been here three times: twice for me and once for my boyfriend to bring his older clothing. The first time I was there with my clothing, the girl who was going through my items had an attitude and didn't bother putting my clothes back nicely. I figured it was a fluke. When we brought my boyfriends clothes in, they took everything. Now the third time, tonight, they treated me like I was trash. I come to Plato's Closet with my clothes washed clean, steamed and folded nicely. When they refuse my items (picking them up with two fingers like they're disgusted), they wrinkle my clothing and roll it up into balls and put it back in the bin or bag I give them in, where the clothes don't even fit. I know my clothing may not be exactly "hot" or "in style" and that's fine if you don't want to take it....but don't treat me like I just gave you smoke smelling clothing with holes and stains. The staff is also rude and the store is a mess, I saw soda and smoothie cups amongst other trash on the shelves. Save your time and energy, sell on poshmark or mercari. And if that fails, you can donate your old styles to the thrift shop at The Community Foodbank of NJ to someone who would be grateful for your clothes. read more

Wasn't happy with this store at all , the staff was very rude and unhelpful , as I was checking out the two girls were having their own conversation not paying attention to the customers and she made a comment about kids and how annoying they are, not realizing my 4 year old son was standing next to me . Okay I don't want to seem braggy but I own some pretty stylish expensive clothes and know what's in style and what's not. I can't even begin to say how much this place sucks. I've been here multiple times because I pass it on my way to goodwill so I thought hey why not try to sell some stuff before donating. I had a bag full of free people and urban outfitters and other higher end brand clothing. Most notable a wild fox couture sweater which is highly fashionable and wanted. THEY DIDNT EVEN TAKE IT. When walking around all you see is Victoria's Secret stuff along with other basic clothing. They need employees who know what's in and what's not because as of now, these employees are beyond stupid. Let me also state that a male was looking through my clothes. Now I don't have anything against them but I'm sure as hell if a female was looking through them more of it would have been taken. Even though I hate this place I will keep going before I go to donate at goodwill because hey, maybe I can make $12 for a $80 piece of designer clothing. read more

There are unattended children screaming everywhere, first of all. I waited 40 minutes for them to look through my 1 bag and what a waste of time!!! They only picked out 3 items and offered $11. Meanwhile on Poshmark, I got an offer for one of those items for $25. Ridiculous and never coming back to sell OR buy. read more

Biggest joke of a store. Brought in all designer clothes perfect condition and they took 3 things and gave me five dollars. Claimed stains and other ridiculous reasons why they didn't take my items yet they have shoes with urine stains on them! Horrible customer service. Don't waste your time going here. Give it to the needy instead. At least that way you're helping people who really need it. Also claimed they are in high demand for women's sweaters. I brought in 6...they didn't take one. read more

Not only was i ripped off for my coat the staff was disgustingly rude and not friendly i did not feel welcome when i walked in and no one greeted me as a first time customer i didn't know what to do also sold my peacoat for the price of a T-shirt. hateful people like that makes me sick. must be something in the water over in that town. read more

For all of those complaining that they don't take your "name brand" items: Yes, it may be name brand, but not all name brands make teen, trendy styles. They know what their store currently needs, so they know what to pass on. What you see on the store floor is not all that they have in stock. They have another building full of backstock; clothing that they will put out when the store starts looking empty. Therefore, they obviously cannot buy every single one of your items. Also, they are not going to waste time folding your clothes and putting them back neatly. They have other peoples' items to look through and they dont have time for that. Have you ever seen when they're drowning with buys? They cant even walk because all our bags are building up. So don't expect them to put it nicely for you. For those of you complaining about the prices; Youre complaining that they're offering you $2 for a shirt that will sell for $7, but i don't see you complaining when youre the one buying the shirt for $7? Thats how the whole business works so dont expect to be getting $40 for a pair or $40 shoes. For those of you complaining that the store is a mess and there are "size smalls in the large section and larges in the smalls". In case you haven't noticed, YOU are the one that does that. CUSTOMERS mess up the store. Obviously the employees don't want the store a mess because they have to clean it regardless. My cousin tried to sell her Coach purses here and the staff was very rude. They were in good condition and I'm not just saying that. They said really rudely we cannot take this it has a faded yellow stain inside, and there is a really small tear. I have one of the purses and they are in great condition. I've went to most of all the platos closet in New Jersey and this location is by far my favorite! My addiction has gotten so bad that I make a visit almost once a week and always leave with a huge bag of beautiful clothing. I'm really surprised by the negative reviews! I always find Free People Urban Outfitters Bebe BCBG and tons of other quality brands and the prices are always fair. Not once did I pick up anything damaged. I've sold a lot of stuff to different platos closets locations and you can't expect to get that much for your beloved items.. otherwise how are they supposed to keep their prices so low for buyers? And the stores are jam packed with clothing and shoes, they can't take everything you came in with and a business would go broke doing so!!! And also, the girls and guys that work there are always extremely helpful and pleasant to me so you other people writing bad reviews about the workers obviously did something to deserve an attitude read more

I've sold items at this location on one occasion. Nothing spectacular about this site. Staff are not friendly with somewhat of an attitude. Most clothing on their racks is not gently worn but looks well worn. I recently went in with almost a dozen very gently worn skinny pants. Could have been a great bargain for the young shopper looking for cute pants for school. BUT they force you to log in to a tablet with your D/L# - which to me is a breach of security. What happens to that tablet once it no longer works? What happens to all that data stored in that tablet? Why not just ask customers to log in with their name? If we've sold something you already have our credentials on file. I won't go back there again. I'll find another source who isn't so security conscious to force sellers to provide such sensitive ID info. Whose reporting stolen clothing anyway that they need to have your d/l#? read more
