One thing is consistent in all the reviews here. The staff are super rude an not helpful. They act like they are all working at Louis Vuitton and can't be bothered. Very different from the people at Once upon a child next door. I can't quite figure that out because they are owned by the same people (I think). CUSTOMER SERVICE NEEDS A LOT OF WORK. Ummm. Yeah. For example, there will be like 8 of them there halfway picking through clothes and not seeming to do anything but mostly talking to each other with a line of people. A lot of the clothes are dirty and or have holes. The pickers in there are garbage. I brought in 2 bins of stuff and after like 8 minutes they were like we will take just this one plain tee for $3 and tossed everything haphazardly back into my bins. I sold most of it on Poshmark. I would love to see the benchmark for what is "stylish" because there is a lot of the same, somewhat dated stuff. I can't quite figure out what there is so much of the same stuff, priced like it is consignment instead of on the way to goodwill down the road. No returns either. I bought a pair of shoes that ended up being too small for the intended recipient and thought that I could just sell them back when I brought in some clothes and jackets to sell about a week later. Online it says the store is open until 9pm, I showed up at 6:15pm to hopefully sell them some of my clothes. They told me when I arrived they stop buying clothes at 6:00pm--three hours before the store closes and 15mins before I arrived. It was a waste of my time. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I brought in a huge bag of nicely folded clothes. I was aware that they are only buying summer clothes as it is the summer season. So I brought in nice tank tops, rompers, dresses, cover ups for the beach. Some were from Garage, Forever 21, and Abercrombie and Fitch and some even had tags still on them . After 4 hours of waiting, I came back and they only bought 4 items and offered me $5. Yes. $5 for 4 items. I spent more money on gas than I received. Save your time and energy, I recommend selling your used clothes on online apps rather than wasting your time here. The staff was even awkward and embarrassed when telling me my total. Most of my bag was still folded the way I left it so my guess is they didn't even bother, who knows. Not returning back. read more

Came here to drop off some clothes to sell. Just a few things you should be aware of. You need to check in if your dropping off any clothes, wth a drivers license. If you have one or two bags/boxes they will allow you to drop them off and then come back before 4 o'clock to pick up your money. If you have more than two bags they ask that you stick around the store. I went on a Saturday and it took about an hour and a half before they looked at my items. They don't take clothing that is too old, if the clothing was bought more than two years ago they probably won't take it, no matter what condition it's in. They bought 5 of the items I brought in, and they gave me $10 for them. Some of the reviews I read before I came here said that the employees were rude, so I was expecting the worst. They weren't that bad. They weren't super happy or energetic either, but I guess they were alright. After waiting 45 minutes I got $2.10 for the rainbow bag in like new condition. Everything else was rejected for style reasons. I'm pretty familiar with this place from when I was in college and didn't expect to get any money back. My only complaint is them not telling me it was ready until I asked . I waited patiently and no one called my name. Every time I looked up my bag was still on the shelf. I looked at the screen and realized it was ready 40 minutes ago but no one called my name. There also were only 2 chairs in the whole store but they're for the fitting rooms. This store is horrible. Told me to wait 45min while they "sorted" thru my clothes and tell me what value they had or what they wanted. After waiting 45min I was told they would take only one black shirt that was not even namebrand. I asked why they did not take my forever 21 acid wash jeans or my Guess black bodycon dress I was told it was not "in style". Are you kidding me? What a joke and waste of gas and time. My gas and time was not worth the $4 for a basic ass black shirt. Do yourself a favor just donate. Wish I could give zero stars. P.S. I always get frustrated at this store, staff aren't very nice. They typically wont take anything (very picky). Store is messy, not organized. They keep some items in a case in the front --when you ask to see them its like you are annoying them. Other customers can be a bit aggressive/loud in this location also-- kind of odd. I like the Ledgewood Location better--- its more comfortable to shop at and also alot friendlier. More high end options there as well! read more

Don't be fooled by the very negative reviews. They are only people who are mad/frustrated that they didn't get any money for their clothing. That doesn't give justice to the actual store itself. People need to keep in mind that the store can't be buying bags full of clothing every day; that would seriously hurt their sales especially given how cheap they already sell their items for. Anyway, I actually was pleasantly surprised after shopping here. For a secondhand clothing store, it was actually pretty organized in there. Definitely not 100% neat, but what can you do? I loved the price range - I got a comfy sweater for $8, a cool Quicksilver tank for $3, and Gap shorts for $8. How awesome are those prices? And the clothing didn't even look that worn! (There was a small hole in the sweater I bought but it took me a minute to stitch up at home and it was looking almost brand new.) Plus none of the clothing had a bad smell or seemed gross. They also really only sell brands known to most teens, which is awesome. (i.e. PacSun, Guess, Nike, Adidas, Forever 21, etc.) I removed one star just for the fact that there weren't many customers in the store but it took me almost 10 minutes of standing in line behind -one- person to get checked out. I wouldn't have been a little frustrated were there not literally 8 associates behind the counter just folding clothes and not ringing anyone up when there were clearly registers open. Overall, I really liked my experience here, and I really do recommend this place for any young people looking for cute clothes without thinning out their wallets! :) read more

I've been here multiple times to sell and have made $25+ each time, making it worth the trip. Today I went and brought three bags, not realizing you can't leave the premise for more than two bags, ugh. It was over a 2 hour wait and I made $2.10. I get it, this is when everyone is brining in their bags. I just wish there was a way not to waste my time. I stopped in with a couple other friends and we were shocked that none of us were offered any/ a decent amount of money for the quality name brand clothing we all brought in. The store is a mess and the clothing currently on the racks didn't look like they were in great shape either. I brought in 3 huge bags and was offered 4.20! I had to ask if they were serious. Decent selection of clothes.. i always leave with something. However, a lot of the clothes are out of place and this is time consuming because ive learned to go through all of the sections so i dont miss something. (I always find the best clothes in the wrong section) Anyways, the management is awful. I drove from NY and was told tonight that i couldnt use the dressing room because they close at 8:30pm. The store closes at 9pm.. so why close the dressing room at 8:30??????? 8:50...sure i understand but this rule is very bizarre. i had to rush because i only had 5 mins in the dressing room that the manager "allowed" me to have after i BEGGED. Very rude.. as i also heard her laughing with another colleage about the way she spoke to me. Another thing, i dont try to sell clothes to them anymore because they won't buy a lot. Maybe one thing out of 50. I have designer, brand name, clean & in good condition clothes and jewlrey such as michaels kors and they would deny to buy them. Just a heads up. I drove 40 minutes down to Plato's Closet with two garbage bags of clothes. When I got there they told me there was an hour and 30 minute wait so i decided it would be better than to just drive back home, so i waited. In the end after all the waiting, they liked 6 items out of the approximately 60 pieces that i brought and offered me $10 for good quality, name brand clothing items. I do not recommend going here, you can definitely find a better place or mobile app to sell your clothes on for more. read more

The worst store policy ever! STAY AWAY. I dropped off 2 bags of clothes to sell. I asked the employee if my mother can pick up the money/leftover since I would not be able to. Store employee told me yes as long as you have the same last name of her. I informed the employee my mother was re married and no longer shares the same last name. Employee told me it was ok. Well what do you know, my mom went to pick up the money/leftover clothes and they would not give her the money because we did not share the same last name. I was on the phone with at the time of the incident and even provided the text from Plato stating the clothes were ready to be picked up. She had the receipt and everything. I understand the employee was following store policy but there has to be an exception. This is ridiculous. Stay away from this store. It's a rip off unfair and unjust. At this day and age families share different last names based on preferences, new marriages etc. This incident was cruel and not professional at all. Just awful.. Clothes were pretty shabby and the boots that were on sale were damaged. Nothing special. Another version of Goodwill. At least Goodwill doesn't sell customers on the idea of gently used designer high end clothes. Overcrowded racks with really bad choices. Most of the women's shoes seem to be directed to those that want to be 9 inches taller. So many other consignment shops around that actually sell decent gently used clothes. read more

All of the staff are SO so rude, and unfriendly. Especially the girl with the blonde pixie haircut. They are also extremely picky and nasty to returning customers. Dirty looks, eyes rolling, and don't even look up and acknowledge you. They have attitude problems and the customer service needs a lot of help. They are unhelpful and are the reason I stopped going. Super rude staff. If you're selling- you're better off using the clothing drop boxes- you'll get barely any money- kids often running around without parental supervision. Like other reviewers, I also don't believe they really looked at all my stuff. I brought 3 bags of things and they took one pair of shoes for 4 dollars. I asked why they weren't taking anything and they said they only take "trendy" clothes. I had plenty of "trendy" things and many similar pieces to what they had in the store, Express, American Eagle, LOFT, Gap, H&M, ETC. All good stuff that I didn't wear more than 1 or 2 times. While waiting for them to go through my bags, I had the opportunity to walk around the store. It smells musty and dirty. The clothes are OK but not as cheap as you would think for USED clothes. Saw lots of clothing from Express, American Eagle, Gap, LOFT, H&M.... funny though that they didn't take any of my clothing! I gave two stars because for the most part they have nice clothes so I can understand them being picky.. but greedy? I liked a plastic Victoria secret tote that you usually get for free when you purchase from VS. the manufacturer VS tag was on the tote and it was selling retail $4.95. Usually when you drop off clothes they give you less money and say they sell it at 50%-70% off retail price. I looked for a Plato's closet tag which there was none. I asked an employee who confirmed there was no price on the bag she will ask her manager. She comes back and says $10. How so? If it sold brand new in VS for $4.95 why ten at a thrift store? I really like the bag and agreed to pay 2.50 for the bag as it was 50% of what the VS tag read. Manager advised she would have to speak to the owner. Horrible service. When I first walked in the woman at the counter was extremely friendly, and I was told to wait until they put my name on the board since I was trying to sell my used clothes. They never put my name on the board, and my friend and I walked around for a half hour and then went up to the desk to be told they were not taking anything. Despite all the terrible reviews, I found this store/location to be great. I came in with a ton of old clothes I hoped to get money for. When you walk in you put all your info into a screen (which also displays how much time it will take to get your stuff back and/or money). The employees were friendly and helpful and even suggested I call before I come back to make sure everything was on schedule (it was exactly). When I can back I got some off my stuff back and got money for what they wanted. I would go back if I need to sell anything else! read more

The sales associates could have been more friendly and helpful. I brought in several bags of clothing and don't think they looked through most of them. I had new Guess items, Free People, DKNY, Forever 21, etc - that I'm pretty sure they would have bought if they had looked through the bags. They only bought one item. Overall, it was a waste of effort and time in folding my clothes and lugging those bags over for them to pick through, but I didn't mind the drive since I got to see their inventory. Don't waste your time or energy! They are very particular about what items they accept and they are geared towards young adults. They also give you a couple of dollars per item even though they are brands like Michael Kors, Free People, etc. What they gave me for six items they will sell one of my Items for!
