My name and phone number was already on file for years so when I dropped the clothes off all my info was already known. Waited 4 1/2 hours for them to look at my clothes and they never texted me. Showed up to see if they were done and they told me they didn't want any of my clothes. I asked them why didn't you guys inform me my clothes were ready for pickup and they said "maybe you put the wrong number". Wasted my time because the store is run by 16 yr old girls who just sit there and gossip all day. Unfortunately all the Plato's closets are like this and if your a man then don't even bother going to any of them, there all just "trendy" girl clothes stores now and the selection they have for men is stuff no one would ever wear that they charged $50+ for. My son ran down isle and ran behind register (he's 1) and lady yelled at me that he couldn't be back there so I suggest they get carts for Mother's it hard to shop with no carts . This location has way too many flaws compared to perks. This location is decent for buying but make sure to fully examine what your buying. I've accidentally bought shirts with stains and holes here and that's unacceptable. Also clothing is often mislabeled (especially shoes!) so double check every time. It's awful for selling. I've taken BRAND NEW clothing with tags here and turned away. "This is from last years PINK collection, we really only take clothes less than a year old". Their loss. There really isn't designer brands here, the only name brand clothing I've ever seen was American Eagle... the majority of it is literally target brands. Staff is often rude and short. I get it, I bet the customers here suck, but at least act like you like your job. They literally barely say anything except a total. read more

This is the newest location for Plato's closet in the area. Pros: Lots of brand names (especially Bebe, Free People, Juicy and more not just Aero and Hollister like most places) Cons: Prices here are slightly higher than other locations (I've been told anyway) I do feel like it's more worth it to come here though, just because you'll find items that you do want without having to search through all the preppy, Aero/Hollister/AE stuff. Horrible service by one teeny bopper who decided to just ignore me and ring up the next customer despite the fact that we were in as linear of a line as you can get, taking into consideration that we are people and not points on a coordinate plane. Okay, rant over. I had to get that out of my system. This location is bigger than the one in Paoli and has a larger men's/boys' section, but it is extremely crowded on weekends. Most heels/pumps are around $10-16, and in excellent condition. They have more Pink and Charlotte Russe here so it's definitely more geared to the teen demographic, which is good if you are a parent with a very picky teenager who loves to buy clothes. The accessories department is very lackluster with a few handbags, none of which were designer ones. This isn't very well-suited to my personal style but that's just preference. I was able to find a cute pair of Aldo heels for $10 (I know, I really don't need another pair of shoes but this is a veryaffordable way of indulging without overdoing it dontcha think?) , which is about 1/8 of what it would cost even at the outlet store. Not the best experience. The two girls working seemed very inexperienced and had poor customer service skills. The one was wearing marked merchandise from the store with tags on. The whole back of the selling and purchasing counter was a mess, they had a hard time finding my items once they were done selecting them. I've had fairly good experiences here in the past. I took very expensive merchandise in just to see what they would give me as this is the first time I've never thought about not donating. They call me, they won't give me the price over the phone, they also have a 72-hour window where is if you don't show up after dropping clothes off you forfeit your clothes to them. And then they offer me $15.21 for over $400 worth of clothing. I can tell you what you have to be pretty desperate to sell anything to these people or just plain greedy when there's so many in need in our country today. Went in today to sell two bags full of clothes, all good brands (express, Nike, etc.) and in new condition. I watched the girl take a few items out, not even look at them, toss them on the counter, then stuff them back in the bag. My second bag she didn't even bother to look through, every piece remained in tact how I packed it. They told me "these styles aren't currently selling for us"...which I could totally accept, had the girl actually LOOKED at anything I brought. Waste of time going here. Wow, I need to completely retract my initial review. I came by the store today, and it was spotless. Everything was neat and organized, and there was no clutter or incorrect sizing. I spoke with an employee who told me there trying a new method where thud each are in charge of a section, for example, her "baby" is the tanks. Everyday she makes sure those are organized and presented well. I also learned they have begun a new customer appreciation discount. Once ou spend $50 dollars in the store you get a free pink "platos closet" reusable shopping bag. Every time you return to this location holding that bag, you get 10%! Besides all that, today they had almost everything in the store for 50% off. It was one of the most epic and memorable thrift moment (or hours) of my life Today, the staff were knowledgeable, approachable, funny, and a pleasure to consign with. I give this review with a heavy heart. I've been a loyal shopper at this location (since~2013). The staff have been super friendly & helpful (James & Lani). But the exchange I had today was disappointing to say the least. I bought a pair of Adidas superstars for my son. They were in the men's aisle & labeled as an 8.5 (his size). The price was right so I bought them. Only to find that they were a size 7 when I got home. I brought the receipt back & explained to the lady behind the counter that they were mislabeled & of course never could be worn by him. She promptly cut me off & said it's policy not to return shoes & that I should have tried them on before leaving the store. To which I explained that they were for my son not for me. She then suggested that I resell them Back to the store for 1/3 of the price & walked away. Basically, it's my fault that they were mislabeled. I encountered this problem once at the Plato's in Fairless Hills (4.5 mislabeled as a 5.5) & they promptly apologized for the mistake & refunded me my money, which I turned around & bought $200 more in merchandise. Now that's what I call customer service. So overall, the lesson is, let the buyer beware & inspect the sizes to the labels carefully if you decide to shop at Plato's Montgomeryville. read more

The staff is ok. Pretty nice for the most part but I couldn't help but notice the 2 girls behind the counter leaving to look at themselves in the mirror 5x in 10 minutes. I have been here two or three times last year. I never found anything in great condition or anything from more upscale stores like armani exchange or crew. Stock: 90% Hollister. 5%pacsun bullhead jeans, 3% h&m, 1% nike/adidas, 1%unknown. The items are organized by size and color. The racked were CRAMMED with clothing on hangers - it was impossible to look at anything individually. The xs and s tops are on the top rack which is very difficult to reach! The jeans were so over worn and washed. They were so stiff. Prices weren't any better than what you would find new on clearance in stores. Don't even get me started on the shoe selection. Fila. Etnies. beat up athletic nikes. Really now. The reasoning for the 1 star rating is mainly for the selling process. I haven't been here in a year and this is the closest location to me (I live in Manayunk). I decided to take my big duffle bag of donations here to see if I could make 50 bucks. My bag included about 7 pairs of jeans. Joes jeans gently worn and 2 Express jeans new with tags. Also, urban outfitters plaid button ups, diesel hoodies, etc. The employee completing my sales hands me a giant bin with 2 of my items in it saying "This is all we were able to buy from you! We would like to offer you $9!" They took a pair of shorts from Urban Outfitters, and Jack purcell converse shoes. Keep in mind the shoes alone were $85. Im sure those are on the shelf now for $25+. While waiting for my sale, I browsed a bit. I was sure a lot of items would have sold because I saw beat up h&m jeans, some jeans I recognize from Kohl's (Urban pipeline?) and a spongebob tee. ????? Coats were made up of a couple of old over worn north face fleece from obviously years and seasons ago for $50. A knockoff Burberry trench, a wrinkly eagles jacket, and other random jackets. I still don't understand. Id advise anyone thinking of selling here to go sell on eBay. I recently started and have sold 5+ items in 2 weeks. I am able to sell a pair of Joes jeans for $50 there. The employees are not friendly they are very snobby and judgmental. They talk down to you and treat you as though your bothering them. This has happened on more then 1 visit ... Please managers talk to your staff because without customers there would be no jobs for them! Not everyone is ment for customer service so please weed out the ones who are not ment for this. Also talk to your staff about dress code. Some of the ladies have some risqué outfits. I understand its the style however this is still a job. (Reviewing as a shopper, didn't experience selling or trade-in.) The stock: an excess of cheap polyester tops from Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, Delias, and similar brands. There was only 1 rack of dresses vs. 6 or more racks for tops. The shoes were nicely sorted by size and quite current/trendy, BUT were mostly very worn, scuffed, and visibly used. Huge used Vera Bradley collection. But some Vera's were stained and discolored. There were a few isolated racks featuring clothes exclusively from popular retailers, like an Urban Outfitters rack, an H&M rack, a Victoria's Secret "Pink" rack, etc. But only 8-10 pieces on each rack. Overall: The clothes are for a very young crowd (tween-18, some college "night out" clothes). Not my favorite, lower quality than a consignment store. For higher quality and more mature stock, try West Main consignment shop in Lansdale. read more

This is a teenybopper's paradise. As a grownup, I'll try and find used t-shirts and the like in here. For someone that doesn't weigh 150 lbs and love Abercrombie or Hollister, there isn't a huge selection, but occasionally I find a gem here or there. Polo shirts sometimes brand new for $14, and T's for $8-12. As someone who doesn't fit into a large but doesn't like the length of an XL, a used XL, which has been worn and washed fits perfect. The trade-in value here is low, but they give you more for store credit than cash. read more

Stayed at a local B&B in North Wales, PA a few weeks ago. I recognized this store because a location opened up near my home in Union, and I heard very good things about it. There was a huge clearance sale taking place, so I had to get my butt over there. I was impressed. I have been to many consignment shops like this, and it was the MOST organized store. Kudos to the manager! They carried a wide variety of brands from Old Navy to the higher end labels for women and men. My only complaint is that their women's shoes; they carry stop at size 10, and there is no real plus size section. I inquired about this, and it looks like the majority of their customers are average size women. The staff was helpful and very friendly, the prices were fair. The quality of items they take in to sell are in very good condition . You must check out their consignment program. It is worth taking part , you will enjoy the perks. I purchased 2 bags for the spring, each were $12. I also got a black mini to put over my leggings for $6. So friggin' cute! read more

Jam packed with clothes on each shelf, you'll have to really spend a big chunk of your day finding good deals on good clothing. Only if you want to spend the time out of the day, it's totally worth it. Yet, they are a tad bit pricey comparing to others I have been to. The customer service is also not that good as it's just a bunch of teenagers that don't really know much of what you're asking. They have good clothes such as Forever 21, H&M, Ambercombie & Finch, Hollister, American Eagle, etc. Has a crap load of shoes also that are insanely cheap! read more

This place is a mess from the minute you walk in the door. I have only been here to drop off items, but it's total disorganization, from the messy racks of clothes to the chaos behind the counter. It's a real chore trying to sell anything here because they tell you come back in an hour. When you come back, they say "we're just getting to your stuff". Seriously, they pay practically nothing for designer labels, which is probably why they don't have anything designer in the store. (See other reviews). I googled Platos closet on Sunday to see what time they were open until... 6:00pm, I arrived there at 2:45. The music was insanely loud, I was not greeted by anyone & I was there to sell clothing. When someone finally greeted me, they said we are not buying today, we are getting ready to close "3:00" They were rude about it, & I drove an hour !!! She was like "you can come back tomorrow" ... like that is convenient ... maybe do inventory on a very slow weekday not on a weekend .... so disappointed. read more

Decent selection of used clothes at okay prices, but nothing spectacular, at least on the day I was here. What blew me away today was the utter rudeness and unhelpfulness of the staff. The people behind the counter were completely preoccupied with listening to music too loud and inappropriate for a retail store to help answer a question, though they did refuse to allow my wife to accompany our daughter in the fitting room for "security" reasons. A question about an item missing a tag was answered with an accusation of removing said tag, which I most certainly did not do. I've enjoyed shopping in Plato's locations in other states, but this location isn't one that I'd be inclined to return to. read more

I like this place a lot when it comes to always finding something I need last minute. So far it's saved me twice from having to go to a million stores to try to complete a costume. But that's just it, I've tried to find something for just my closet in there and I can't. Everything is so out dated and bizarre looking. I also took a star away for the smell that lingers in there everytime I walk in, I mean old fashioned clothes do tend to smell like moth balls so maybe that's why. I felt the store to be very disorganized. I found a few shirts with stains and wear and tear while I was waiting for my items to be sorted through. After waiting an hour, I was offered $25 for 6 items out of the bag I brought in. I was told my items were being rejected due to wear and "too old"/out of style. I was disappointed since a majority of what I brought in had a tag or was worn two or three times, but compared to what was in store, it seemed like it was better quality. I felt like it was a waste of my time and would have much rather donated all items or took the time to sell pieces on poshmark that I felt had a little more value to them. read more

Not a fan of shopping here (the prices are good but everything is too cluttered for my liking), but 3 stars for the service I receive when selling clothes. You can make a good amount of money selling your clothes as long as they are still in style and good condition. I've made over 40 dollars for 3 shirts and a wallet. Not too shabby for stuff I was going to just throw away. My favorite part is the fact that they only take between 20 and 30 minutes to sort through the clothes, so I never have to anticipate a long wait. read more

Went into this location to sell men's, women's & accessories. Went on a weekday evening, there were a few people in the store. An associate saw me struggling to get all my heavy bags in the door, did not offer any assistance. Went to the counter, multiple associates walked by me several times and I was not even acknowledged. Finally an associate asked me to sign in on an iPad. There was no hand sanitizer in site and the pad was not wiped down after use. I didn't see any associates performing any cleaning procedures at all. They told me they would text after 25min when they were done reviewing my order. I sat in my car, waited, did not receive a text, went in after 30min. I had a lot of nice clothing, great condition, some NWT. The only item that was bought were some old gap jeans that still had a little dirt on the bottom ankle (oops). I was offered under $4 for them. This place is a joke. Everything I has was folded neatly in my bags, when returned to me they were just thrown in there. Very disappointed with my experience. I really miss Clothes Mentor, ashamed they closed and this place is still open. (Writing this review the next morning, at work right after I received my "your clothes are ready" text 13 hours later). read more

Tonight, the entire store reeked of cigarette smoke. I'm guessing someone was smoking in the back room. Very disappointed with my first trade in experience. Was told I would wait behind one customer 25 mins wait, then my name would go up on a whiteboard when ready. I waited an infuriating 1 hour 5 minutes looking at cheap BS and they never put my damn name up. I spent the last 25 minutes of that time standing within eyeline of the buyer.
