Every time I sell to this store the employees are rude and disrespectful. They are vocal about how they feel about the clothes they are looking through. During one visit to this store, an employee said "ew who would wear this stuff?!" as they were going through my things and I was standing by the register. These employees should get their attitudes in check. Before I bring my items to the store, I take the time to organize and fold everything neatly. When I receive my items back from them, the clothing is stuffed back into the bags and the jewelry is thrown back in the bag instead of put into the jewelry box I provided. More times than not, the bags I brought my items in are ripped to the point where I struggle bringing them back to my car because I can't carry them normally and things keep falling out. I have visited numerous Plato's Closets in the area and they all seem to have friendlier employees than this location. When it came time for me to review their purchases, I felt rushed and pressured to just accept the offer they were making. I did not get time to see what they were buying from me; I was only shown a basket of the items they were taking and it was taken away quickly. Other locations have made me feel more comfortable to be able to look through that basket and negotiate if I needed to. This store should either give you more time to look through that basket or give an itemized list of what they are buying. Overall, I don't think I will ever sell to this location again. I recommend anyone reading this to not waste your time even going there because it is so unorganized and clustered. read more

Very rude I entered the store no greeting couldn't find any one who worked there for about 20 minutes when I finally found the two young ladies to ask a question they looked very bothered and as I should already know the answer would never go back even thou they had a great selection customer service goes a long way and I couldn't see myself spending money where I feel I'm not wanted worst experience ever read more

I had a terrible experience last night. I brought clothes in to sell. I wasn't greeted by anyone. It's just a bunch of teenagers standing around behind the counter goofing off. The entire register area looked it was affected by Hurricane Katrina. When someone did acknowledge me, I couldn't hear her because the music was insanely loud. We had a short exchange and she was as miserable as could be. I guess her promposal was underwhelming, but I digress. She said it would take 30 minutes for her to go through my items. I left and returned in 30 minutes. Again, no acknowledgment by the employees. It's clear they are all waiting for someone else to greet the customer. When I was acknowledged, they said they hadn't gotten to my items and needed 20 more minutes. I left and returned. No acknowledgement yet again so I had to stand there, alternating eye contact with the various characters behind the dumpster, I mean counter. I was finally acknowledged when their game of customer-service-chicken concluded. Again, I couldn't hear the girl explaining my payout over the blasting pop music. I took my money and left. I will never, ever, ever be back. read more

The store was very messy, employees weren't useful at all and were playing games instead of helping when I asked for assistance. Highly recommend NOT going here, instead try clothes mentor it's right up the street and a much better experience. read more

Waste of my time! This was my first time at Plato's closet and the website and commercials make it seem like they buy and sell all pretty much mid range nice clothing. I went thinking I can sell them some nice stuff I've had sitting in my closet and look around to find something to buy and still make a little money. I wasn't expecting much, but I was really in for a surprise! I really made sure I brought the best items I had; no rips, tears, some worn only once (BCBG, guess, Aqua, mostly Bloomindale's items). They ended up offering me $6.30 TOTAL for two items, a $70 guess skirt and a $60 Aqua dress. WOW. ... The store was 90% Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe clothing and I even saw a Walmart dress in there. This store is more of a juniors thrift store than what they make it out to be. It took me 40 minutes round trip and waited 45 minutes for them to decide to give me $6.30. HA! I spent more in gas than that just to get there. Not to mention that when you drop off your items they say they will call your cellphone when they are done. I told them my cellphone just died and I'll check back in with them. When I went up to ask if my items were ready, the kid was rude about me not answering my phone. So all in all, not worth the time unless you are 13 and looking to buy. There were no BRAND NAMES unless you legitamately consider Forever 21 a brand name.... So much of a dissapointment. read more

Awful customer service - it took them 25 minutes to check out one pair of shoes that they didn't buy at the end.

Love love love this location! Great prices and I can always find what Im looking for plus a few other great selections. Props also to the friendly staff that didnt give me attitude when I was shopping a little past closing time. read more

I gave them very expensive clothing that I had bought and they buy it off of you for a very cheap price and the clothing in there store is very used and not really a good way of saving money and the prices are not that good that they put them out to be read more

I was very unhappy with the platoes closet in allentown pa. I brought a bag of cloths in to sell everthing in great shape and they would not take one item .. the stuff I seen sitting around in that store was in pretty bad shape compared to the items I had .. this place should be closed down really poor management ... read more

platos closet was one of my favorite places to go since they have great prices for originally expensive things. although the place is a mess, i still went and minded my own business, again i only went to shop, not to critique the environment. one day i put something on hold and it took ages for the person to find my things, it was no surprise since there was a mess behind the counter. super loud music, employees seem not to care much about their jobs, they are also ignorant. the same day, i was changing and one employee softly knocks on my door to see if anyone was in my room but it was so soft i didn't think it was meant for my room, still i clearly said someone's in here and yet the worker, while talking to someone else opens the door. right after she closes it she laughs and tells several other people. the walk out was one of the most shameful and humiliating things i have ever done in my life. i'm now so afraid to go back, worst experience ever. invasion of privacy much? also no greeting when you walk in. very very very upset with platos. i'm thinking on changing locations, i don't think i can ever go to this platos ever again. very dusty and small but organization is average. please please please work out your customer service. read more

My daughter (11) and I visited last night for the first time. I'd heard of it before from friends, but had never been before. After a few minutes, she declared out loud "THIS IS MY FAVORITE STORE!" I found a very nice Vera Bradley handbag that I'll use this spring and also got my 13 year old son a few Ralph Lauren Polo shirts for $10 each. She scored a pair of gently worn Uggs for $40--and was delighted!! She also got a pair of strappy silver high-heels for $2 that she loves and will get a kick out of wearing (though not to school!). My son is very big into Hollister recently and I'm guessing there were some Hollister T-shirts that he'd have been able to get for low prices which would make him happy. I don't know for sure because the store seemed very cramped to me and there were four or five guys looking at the huge and jammed t-shirt racks and I didn't want to intrude. Plus I didn't have a whole lot of time. But we'll definitely be back! read more

I had a horrible experience at this location. Having lost 40 pounds, I went in with approximately 35-40 items, many new with tags, after hearing the ads every hour on the radio. They said it would be a few hours so I left and returned. Out of the entire bucket, the store purchased 2 items for a total of $9.60. They told me the items were too old, which made me laugh since one of the items they purchased was the oldest in the bunch. But, I have to say, it was the store's loss. Last week I put everything on ebay. So far, I've sold 10 of the items and am already near $140 in sales. I get my money back (or close to it) for the new items with tags. If you're willing to take the time, this is a MUCH BETTER route to take. People will purchase your stuff and you will get a much better price. The store obviously doesn't know what people will and will not buy, and I found it a huge disappointment and a waste of my time. read more

i wish i could get back the 1/2 hr of my life i wasted in that store!!!! two young customer service reps supposedly went through my clothes, shoes, purses, accessories (most of which were designer and still had tags attached) while dancing and singing to the radio. the young man processing my things called me over when he realized i was watching them do this. he then stated that my items were of 'basic' style" and he could not accept them. i found this to be a bit strange since they didn't have anything in stock that was a womens size 6 shoe (my size) or anything nicer than played out ed hardy crap. in fact, the clothes there look like they were slept on by a homeless dog. about 45 minutes after leaving the store, i got a phone call from 'chris' stating my order has been processed and my cash is ready to be picked up. i called back and asked for chris who tried to convince me that it was from an old message. i asked how could that be possible since i had never been to the store before and left with all my "basic" items. instead of admitting he may have made a mistake he asked me if there was anything else he could do for me?!!!! yeah, dumbass. get a friggin' clue along with the rest of the morons you "work" with. learn about fashion and how to operate a business. do not go to this store. you won't make any $$$ and you can find nicer clothes in a dumpster at marshall's. read more
