2.7 Stars Overall. Customer service was good. The low rating is due to the selections available in the store and the lack of high end quality clothing and accessories. The store was well organized. This is the least popular and appealing Plato's Closet I ever went to in my life. There was nothing that appealed to me except one item. Prices were too high for the their products. A flawed Kate Spade bag was $40. Their credit and cash for consigned items are fair or low. I was satisfied with the money I received for my items. I would recommend only consigning clothes & accessories here for quick cash if you don't want to sell them online or consider other places to consign. If you want to purchase clothes, you may find something you like here. I prefer TJ Maxx and other stores to buy similar items for almost identical prices except they are all brand new or have more affordable prices for used items. The customer service is good here and you receive cash quick. read more

The clothes are always of excellent value, and for a cheap price. The staff helps a lot when you are trying to get clothing from above and help quickly when you are trying to get into a dressing room. I love how all of the clothing is color coordinated and all the sizes are separated so you always know where to go. The clothing is always from really high brands like Nike, Hollister, Polo, etc. My sister and I love shopping here. This store will forever be our go to since it's near home and its cheap clothing for a great quality, and I know I will always find something I like. read more

They tell you what they are looking for to buy and then you bring in exactly what the store is looking for and they don't want it. They don't even take brand new clothing with tags or Jordan's even though they say they are looking for them. They were selling a trashy George mason university draw string backpack that had a decal that was peeling off and dirty for 12$ which they hand out free at every george mason university orientation but did not want my north face backpack or american eagle jeans and jean skirts which is literally the only thing they sell there. Don't even waste your time going out there and taking the time to wait for them to look at it they aren't going to want anything unless it's dirty and cheap. read more

It's a scam! I had a whole basket of almost brand new Nike, adidas, and vans. They took maybe 10 minutes and only picked out two pairs of shoes. They offered only $30. I was put on a two hour waiting list for three items just to hear a no because the items I had brought in, "didn't fit the vibe" the store was messy and unorganized. The three items I had brought in were one pair of the coffee brown, orange, and black Jordan 3's, a top shop, studded sequential homecoming dress, and a mini Helmut Lang leather skirt. And to my knowledge, this store is a thrift shop that holds all styles so that was very confusing and total crap. Horrible customer service by Manassas team and more so by an owner (Ms. Serbo), who is clearly off her meds. I wrote to Ms. Serbo describing what I thought was poor service and bad communication at the Manassas location. Ms. Serbo called back and despite me saying I was at work and it wasn't a good time, decided to lament on how awesome her employee was completely discrediting my personal experience. I decided to get off the phone when Ms. Serbo decided to raise her voice and say I was banned from Manassas and Fairfax stores. I recorded both calls and let 3 separate friends listen to both and we all agree that Ms. Serbo was in the wrong and is clearly mentally unstable. I received a follow up email addressed to someone else stating that I was banned and then another rude comment on one of my reviews. Ladies, dont support this crazy person by shopping at Manassas or Fairfax. read more

Do. Not. Go. Here. I brought in a good haul of clothes. Great clothes, name brand. Barley ever worn. All under 2 yrs old. I also brought in a pair of brand new vans I'd worn maybe 3 times. Let me just say this.. the SECOND I walked into the store.. I see MY shoes out on display immediately. Priced at 30!! I was excited thinking ok I'm getting some money. Then they bring out the bin of the items they are purchasing. (Two items a bag and short priced at a whopping..... 6.50) The shoes were not in the box??? But we're out on sales floor.... FUCKING HILARIOUS. Wouldn't have given the shoes back. Definitely took more out of my pile then what was bought. I feel robbed. Trying to teensplain how retail works to me... Ladies & gents.. This place is a rip off and insulting. They stereotype who walks in, and profiles you. It caters to a bunch of snot faced staff and teenagers. I literally brought in brand names, damn near NEW* Adidas & Nike sneakers with a few clothing items. They rejected all of it except offered $4 on a pair of shoes. $4?! F thats and $5 on almost NEW Adidas & Nikes bringing it to a total of $30 (and that's after I asked for the manager to review items again.) I gladly rejected and took it in my control and donated it to Goodwill for free and the guy there was so nice so I felt better "donating for free." I'm not that desperate to take $4. Don't bother with this place period! They take a 1/3 cut and leave you with nothing even if it's almost NEW! She even rejected Boys Swim Board Shorts because "they were too long" and short in seems trending right now. When I went to correct her "They're board shorts for the ocean! The style is supposed to be LONGER.." she twisted her face and looked at them again as if she would reconsider but felt she ) had to find a flaw and so she did.. Apparently "Old Navy" brand is not "cool enough" for the "kids" these days. Are you kidding me! I saw their inventory. They swim shorts would've blended right in with the demographic just fine, but they didn't take them. Insanity . You're better off selling on eBay, Poshmark app etc.. I give up on bringing stuff back here. To ice the cake, the original associate said "they're used.." lmfao. It's a FUCKIN' USED retail store, you're gonna have some modicum of wear! You have some cool clothes that teenagers and college students might like?!? Take them here! They accept most items as long as they're in great condition. It's awesome that you can make money off your old stuff and help less fortunate individuals find nice stuff for great prices. It's really easy to sell. Bring in all the stuff you don't want (well, up to 6 trash bags full) and give it to the sales associates. They will review it and tell you when to come back. It's usually an hour-3 hours. But I'd always give them more time than they say because they never finish in time. They usually tell me an hour, which means an hour and 20 minutes. read more

rude workers. face value, they're "nice" but they can't be bothered to repeat themselves twice. if you ask them anything, be ready to catch some attitude. they're just snobby. I know they're mostly in their teens and early 20s, but that's no excuse. (FYI I'm the same age as most of the workers... I know how young adults are capable of acting). I've gone in to sell and buy clothes at every time of the day and when they're busy and empty, but STILL all the workers act incredibly rude. The one star represents the first employee that helped me today that seemed genuine and offered to answer any questions I had. Also, they are SUPER picky, which is fair. They have to keep their inventory fresh, in season, and constantly rolling... BUT i just don't know what they are looking for. To give you insight regarding what they'll pull from your trade in, picture this. they selected two things : a pair of old running shorts and worn out neon green Life Is Good shirt from 4 massive bags of clothing. Both items were purchased 5+ years ago. You might be thinking that everything else is in worse condition and not in style but no I promise you that isn't it. They weren't interested in a brand new with tags Madewell sweater. I purchased it last Spring and went to the mall today and found similar styles available in H&M Also, multiple skirts that were perfect for summer: barely worn or new with tags. Also, I brought back 2 dresses that I bought there and hadn't worn and they didn't even want those back... I don't get it???? half their inventory seems completely worn in. I have no problem using clothes till they have holes, but I'm just curious as to what other great stuff in good condition they are passing up on. From now on, I'll just go to the Goodwill across the street because I know the good stuff they passed on will probably be donated there. Also another disclaimer: I've shopped and sold at the Plato's in my college town and didn't have this experience. Plato's in Manassas is awful with entitled workers. I didn't try to sell anything like most reviewers. I've been looking at the store for a while and decided to step in. Overall I think it's a great store, very organized and clean. You can find things easily which is a major plus. The prices are okay some things I thought the price was a bit high but just moved on to the next. If your looking for a quick outfit and don't mind lightly used clothing this is the place for you. SideNote... this place is mainly for young adults and teens. I've taken brand new never used items and gently used and they either don't take it or they give you pennies for it. I usually just end up donating it anyway but why advertise, buy, sell, trade if you're going to rip people off? I get that you need to make a profit but be fair. I would give this place negative stars if it was an option. Most of the clothes are really worn looking and over priced. I brought in a whole large bag of my daughters clothes, Aero, VS, Hollister, F21, all teenage name brand, some with tags and everything was rejected except for one pair of torn jeans. What? LOL!! First off, before I start my review, let me start with a claim: 1. This place is a second hand clothes store. You have to be willing to buy second hand clothes and shoes. 2. If you sell things here, don't expect a big payback. 3. If you are buying here, there are actually some pretty good deals. Now my experience! When I walked in, I was a bit thrown off. There were rows and rows of women's clothing! I almost thought I was misplaced and that maybe I should just leave. So, if your a women, you will not have any issues! I came with a group, so I thought I would stay. As we got further back, I found the men's section. The selection was clearly not as wide as the women section. I was expecting some poor quality clothes, but I found out that the clothes were those super marked up high end clothes, like Aeropostale, Polo&Ralph, American Eagle, ect. They were all in good shape and weird smells were non existent. Some of the clothes even had the original price tag on them. One thing I found were a $100 pair of jeans for about $18. We ended up buying things, but what we didn't know that the store had been closed for about 40 mins. The employees said nothing. They were very nice and helpful. I thank them for not saying anything, but I would apologize for staying late (even though I didn't know). I would definitely recommend this place for buying secondhand clothes! read more

They only take trendy clothing...no more than 6 months old. Don't bother bringing in anything classy unless it's high end. Don't expect much $ and you'll be satisfied. The prices are also excellent compared to local consignment shops and the products are better than most Thrift shops. Only bummer? Employees attitudes. I went to sell some clothes about 2 weeks ago, I had 2 full big trash bags full of tops and like 2 bottoms. They only kept 4 items and i got $10. You can tell they have no style here. Everything I had was hip items like forever 21, h&m, pacsun/trasher and nike. Most the items were worn but not destroyed or overused. While they were checking my clothes, I went to look around and nothing is cute anymore. I used to come here like 3 years ago and I would find a couple of things. I've tried to sell multiple times to this location. I understand how the buy-back process works and realize that they can't take everything. I'm just really disappointed that much of my stuff looks new and they still won't take it. I'm not even upset about how much they will pay me, it's the fact they won't even accept it. I brought in Steve Madden suede booties today that I've only worn one time (literally) and she said they were too worn to accept. They had minor markings on the bottom from walking in them that ONE time. Seriously?! I feel like I have to bring items with tags still on if I want to make any money back. While I was in there waiting for my stuff to be processed I noticed several shirts on the racks that had armpit stains on the sleeves. Why would they accept this but not my brand new shoes? Also, staff has never been very friendly. The last time I donated they threw out my donation bags and then stuffed all my unwanted stuff in a bin and said they wouldn't take it. I was left there to scramble to get all my stuff in my arms so I could leave with it while she stood there and waited for me to get out of the way. Really uncomfortable experience. read more

Understand the logistics of the used clothing market but feel that they are way too particular in their "buy backs"- Vera Bradley, Coach, and many named brands in near perfect condition were turned away when we presented to Plato's. Every piece was high end and current but not accepted. They do have a large inventory and this store is better than the one that was in Chantilly previously. read more

Platos Closet has great prices and styles! Really recommend shopping here if your on a budget but want to be trendy. Great selection of brands and styles to choose from. Although Yesterday evening , I was checking out and the cashier seemed to be rude. I had a 20 dollar bill and my total was 19.80. I told her to keep the change and she gave me a rude look, and said are you kidding me? I was disappointed because I am used to seeing such nice customer service here. Pretty awesome place overall. A step up from the salvation army, but still very cheap. My girlfriend is a hair stylist so shes always getting hair dye on clothing, and this is the place to go for replacements! Cheap, but still fits and looks great for her. The men's section is still pretty small and I don't always have great luck, but regardless its a fun experience to just look at the things that people have once worn and lost interest in. read more

The staff here is so unfriendly and they seem rather pretentious. They make buying and selling a really uncomfortable experience. Also, it's a waste of time. They give you almost nothing for your stuff and don't take things that are of better quality and style of about 75% of things they have in store.
