My husband and I had some time to kill between sushi and a movie, so we decided to check out Plato's Closet. Big plus--they're open until 9PM, which is perfect for a little late-night retail therapy. No big welcome when we walked in, but the staff seemed focused on their tasks, so it didn't really bother me. The store was clean, organized, and easy to browse. My husband actually found more than I did--men's section was solid. The women's section had variety, but the plus-size options were disappointing. Label sign said XXL, but I didn't find anything truly above an XL. As a reseller, I appreciated the selection and price point overall, though prices were on the higher side--pretty aligned with what most thrift stores are charging these days. Shoes were the highlight--nice display with LOTS of trendy styles, including Dr. Martens and platform options. I only found one pair of blk/rainbow Cortez looking platforms in my size 10 size, which the old raver in me really wanted but the SAHM in me had to pass.The bag selection was small, limited to a single basket-style display. They had a mix of sunglasses too--some out and some in a case. Accessories were mid, and the phone cases were for random phone models I didn't recognize. I chatted with one of the employees who was super helpful and explained the selling process--no appointment needed, just drop in with your items. He also mentioned they're NOT looking for formalwear, which makes sense because the store leans more grunge, retro, punk, and pop culture vibes. I will say, this store leans towards one of the best Plato's stores I've been to compared to some in Cali that were just a complete wast of time. The clothes are great, super big choice of clothes. The problem is the employees, I have never felt so unwanted in a store ever. The employees treat you like you are bothering them and don't say hi or bye when coming in or leaving. Every single time I've been in I've been judgmentally stared at and like I said treated like I was an annoyance just for being in the store. Jm not sure if it's the management that just makes everyone there miserable or what it is but I'm surprised they haven't done anything about it yet. Not to mention last time I went in it REEKED of weed. Would not recommend coming to anyone unless you need to find something for an occasion because you will be treated like gum on the bottom of the employees shoe! read more

rude ass sales associates. i went in to sell a bag full of clothes (luckily they took a lot of it) and when entering, there was this girl who looked like she didn't even want to me there. i also work in retail, so i totally get it. i brushed it off -- as my husband and i were browsing the store more, i made eye contact with another girl working, she literally stared at me like she had a problem? lol... okay, whatever... maybe just a bad day for everyone? then a few minutes go by, i see all of them staring at me and giggling like they were talking about me? okay now, i'm real confused... ya'll got issues for real. i didn't come in with an attitude, nothing. i was polite and nice from the start. bunch of young, insecure lil kids. read more

Honestly never going back here. This is the second time I have gone to sell clothes and they did an all pass claiming that my clothes were "not the current style and worn". I bring in name brands like American eagle, hollister etc. often brand new things and if not they're barely used with no wear and tear. I was under the impression it was a consignment store so I assumed they would take used clothes. Everything in there looks like it's from 2000 so I'm not sure what style they're considering current. This Plato's is awesome! I spoke with the owner and she donated clothes to my sister who lost her home due to fire. I also found out that they do monthly donations to a local charity providing clothes for teenagers and young adults. The store is clean and organized. Staff is awesome and helpful. The clothes and other products sold here are priced well and are of high quality. read more

Not sure why they hire employees if they do nothing! I wasn't spoken to a single time- no greeting, no help in the fitting room, no good bye or thank you. Plato's Closer overall has gone downhill over the years but this location is an absolute joke. They had my bag for all of 9 minutes. When I opened it, it looked like they hadn't pulled a single item out to inspect anything. They said everything was very worn and unable to purchase. Some of the items in the bag still have tags attached. The staff is also very rude and not welcoming at all. I highly recommend avoiding this place. read more

Contacting corporate and possibly the police. The young boy working, Gabriel, stole some of my clothes and didn't give me the amount they even said they would pay me. ...THAT part is slightly on me because I should've checked before I left the store, but I was so angry about his horrible customer service that I just stormed out and didn't check to make sure he didn't short me. Gave me five ones when I was owed $12.50. Yes. Yes I am mad about $7 because it was stolen from me. Principle of it. And they probably pocketed the money anyways. I bet they do this all day and make a bunch of extra money honestly. Will be looking into this more until someone checks cameras or loses their job over this. I've never felt so cheated by little punks before. What a disgrace to Plato's big store name. This location should be shut down if this is how they run it. I've been calling every few minutes from 7:30-8:00pm since they are open til 8. I would leave zero stars if I could. This has to be the worst Plato's in America. To start, they are rude. I usually call to make sure they are taking drop offs and they will tell you they are until example 4pm and you get there at 1 and they won't take them. Secondly, I dropped off a whole bag of stuff that majority was brand new, and some still with the tags on it from nice and current brands (lululemon, free people, Aerie) They took 5 things. They really need to have buyers who know what is in style and what isn't. Half the stuff they have in the store hasn't been in style for 8+ years. Do not waste your time here. read more

I am so disappointed, if i could give 0 stars i would. I brought in all high end stuff (vineyard vines, lulu lemon, o'neil) and everything in the store looked like it haven't been touched in months. I picked up a pair of shoes and a dead bug fell out. all of the stuff in the store was very cheap brands and very outdated. I brought a chuck full bag and they barely took anything. Just left this place. absolutely disappointed in the service, very unorganized and unprepared. They stated they had no money to take clothing for cash back, but were still able to price shoes and purses... they took 3 pairs of my shoes. One of the pairs being CHACOS which are 95-100 dollar pair of shoes. They gave me 10 dollars.....ridiculous if you ask me. They then said to me I could bring clothes back tomorrow because they would have money... BANKS ARE CLOSED ON SUNDAY. Me as a customer had to remind them of this. One of the employees didn't know how to even greet customers properly and couldn't even answer my questions. Thankfully there was a female that could. I came in with a tote of mostly new clothing, many name brand items and several still with tags. They only took 2 items, one being a name brand NWT dress at $50. I received $8 and some change for the the 2 items. I understand how consignments work, but what gets me is when you look around the store, there's much older items, some with holes, pilling or stains. It blows my mind. Lazy staff. Even when you bring top shelf items they just skim through it. Believe they have an inside buddy system of sorts so they're "favorites" can sell their items instead of regular customers. Never have any guys clothing worth looking at. Womens selection is wide but theyve gotten out of control with their second hand prices and won't budge even when the clothing is stained or damaged Clerks are proficient and ice cold I guess I just have zero respect for a store that will sell some items at 66% of original price $12 for a t shirt that's $18 new. Awful. If I could give 0 stars I would. DONT shop here, and especially DONT sell clothes here. Snobby, young staff. The entire store was empty when I brought a few clothes in to sell, 2 girls sitting at the register on their phones, said they wouldn't have my clothes ready till tomorrow but still had 3 hours being open. Entire place smelled of pot..... and the computer screen said estimated clothing wait time to sell was 20-30 minutes. LAZY. Waited all day the next day for a text for my clothes to be ready, nothing. Finally called and they said "oh ya they are ready", And then I received a text. I show up before 6 pm and they close at 8 pm. I'm walking to the door and all the lights turn off... I continued and there were 2 boys sitting in the dark on their phones and the door was locked. I sat in my car and called the store till they answered. I asked why they closed all of a sudden, I need to pick up my clothes. They said they were closed due to weather. I asked what weather? And they said "the weather". It's 40 degrees and not raining or anything? Definitely sitting there clocked in and just being lazy. Will be contacting a manager and corporate. Everytime I have come into this store to shop, it has been a nightmare. The staff look disgusted when you walk through the door as if you're bothering them. God forbid you try to sell clothes. I brought a bag full of almost brand new and some actual brand new clothing and show items the other day. When I came back, they handed me my bag and told me they couldn't take anything and "sorry it happens". Lol ok. The clothes were still folded and sitting in the same order that I put them in. They never even opened the bag. How lazy can you be? The ONLY 2 girls I like there are usually working down the road at the other store. Everyone else who works here is a joke. I know you're probably in high school, but how about not acting like it at work. You're getting paid to do your job, NOT sit on your phone and mouth off to customers under your breath. Each time I bring items buy to sell the girls working are not very friendly to me. They seem to not take the buying process seriously and quickly go through 3 bags full of clothes in under ten minutes... Usually the offers made are low and they won't accept most of my items due to wear and tear even though some things still have the tags attached and some things in the store are far more faded and worn out! I would rather donate the clothes to a local charity then sell them here. Not worth the trip for the little amounts I am offered for my items. read more

Only putting the one star to review. I went to the store to sell some clothing Friday, July 3rd. The girl working was friendly enough. After she calls my name she tells me she can't buy any of my clothing because it wasn't 'in style'. So whatever, I leave. I get back home and go through the bags of clothing and realize quite a few things are missing! I call the manager to let him know that those items were definitely taken by someone working in his store. Not only was he unhelpful but rude. I highly doubt he will do anything about finding out who stole my clothes, because he seems to think all of his girls are too good for that. My shit was stolen. Period. I will never go back here again. To sell or purchase. If you go there to sell I highly suggest you make a mental note of everything you brought in and check your bags before leaving.
