Wanted to trade in some old clothes for some cash and brought in 3 baskets!It took them considerably all afternoon and after they finished, they only took 1/4 of the clothes I originally brought in without any explanation. The lady at the check out desk was polite pleasant and efficient. I found a nice sweater for a good price. Since things are brought in it's hit or miss as to finding something you like in your size. Pretty well organized and tidy. I didn't have any allergy issues which is a good sign that things are clean. read more

If your there to sell clothes be sure to get in 7 hours before closing.. drove 30mins to drop off clothes for them to tell me they stop taking clothes at 2pm. Went to another Plato's closet where I waited 30min for them not to take any items only to find out all of my clothes had been still folded and untouched( they didn't look through any of it). This Plato's closet is nice (6,000 sq ft and the biggest Plato's closet store in Minnesota) and has a good selection of guys clothes And has more space than the maplewood location I would recommend going here. the reason I am rating it 5 stars is this location good staff and good guys clothes. I love this store! Great selection, pricing is perfect! The manager and staff are super friendly. I love this store so much whenever we have people from out of town we bring them to this store to find brand name stuff that isn't everywhere for half the price. Plato's is extremely picky with what they buy from you. I will never understand what they want from me. I offer 4 like-new dresses when they want summer dresses and what do they choose? My black, heavy winter dresses. Huh? I'm not complaining, I'm just glad they bought some stuff! Just be prepared to be surprised at what they do or do not take. It is worth it because I love getting cash on the spot and I have found some decent cheap items here. My last purchase was a pair of turquoise stud earrings for $2! First impression, the store is nice with a lot of fun trends isolated from the main section of clothing. the store was bright and pretty well organized. however, there was four people working behind the counter and no one greeted or even acknowledged i was there waiting to sell. the process was done after about 20 minutes, despite saying it would take about 50. they passed on everything, citing wear. i also had to wait behind multiple people checking out to pick up my clothes, despite at least 6 employees working, four of which were behind the counter. the manager was ringing, and one girl was going through clothes, but the other gals were not helping any customers. poor customer service, poor attitudes, and they didnt take anything, despite having clothes in near new condition. won't return. read more

This place has gone down hill fast. Currently waiting outside with about ten other people fifteen minutes after the store was supposed to open. Nobody is in the store or answering the phone. Shoe prices have also gone through the roof after new management. Not sure who they are running their appraisals through but BEAT shoes with a month left of life in them should not be selling for over $100. No longer feels like our local consignment shop but more so another retailer in the area :( read more

Superb selection of clothes. Great and helpful staff. Don't listen to the complainers on here. I needed clothes for a trip and went to Roseville over Minnetonka because I heard they had better stuff and lower prices (both 100% true btw). I showed up half an hour before closing and was still helped and taken care of by staff and left with great stuff! I saw most of the low reviews were people complaining about their clothes not being bought....which made me laugh. They don't owe you anything lol, they're a business not a goodwill. They have a sign now on their door saying they will only look at two bins or less because they have sooo much inventory coming in. So yeah I guess some Karens were bitter their stuff wasn't even looked at properly (I guess they should move your clothes around in the bag so you can feel validated lol) but they obviously didn't have space for your stuff!!! That's not being rude, that's business! I understand if they were trying to buy stuff for unreasonable prices (I saw in Minnetonka $9 for several brand jeans which seems unfair lol) but that issue was never brought up, just that "my brand name stuff wasn't bought, how dare they!". Which again I found hilarious. Everyone was polite. It made me bummed the were getting bad reviews for running a business. So by all means go try to sell some stuff there. But don't take it as a personal blow if they don't take your stuff- they literally state they are getting so much stuff they won't even LOOK at more then two bins a visit. I brought in a few bags of clothes to be sold and most of it was on brand and fairly new and the store did not take any of the clothes and they only opened the bags. The clothes were folded and in the same place as i brought them in. The person at the counter was very rude about the fact that they did not accept any. read more

I love this Plato's Closet. I've been going to here for years. Yes, they can be picky with what they buy, but they get SO MUCH IN. I know they usually buy for the upcoming season, pieces that are actually in style, and clothing that has usually been purchased within a year. If you have any stains or wear on your clothing, don't bother. Bring them in nice pieces and they will pay you fairly. I've walked away with 40$ a few times. It's hard to find this location as it's tucked away in a sketchy strip mall. The staff isn't very friendly but my service was quick (probably because I got there right as they opened). My advice based on experience: Don't bother wasting your time trying to sell clothes to Plato's closet. They've become too selective for their own good, and you're lucky if you even make back the amount of money to compensate for the cost of the gas it took for you to drive there. Go to Goodwill or Salvation Army to drop your items off instead. Besides you can write that off on your taxes!! read more

Took some clothes in to sell after doing a major overhaul in my closest. I don't know if I trust the "buyers" here - they claimed that most of my items were out of style, which is a fair point to some of them however quite a few I bought last year from Jcrew, and Nordstrom the buyer said was out of style - strange. they only took 4 pieces out of about 120. I doubt they looked through all if it. Don't waste your time coming here unless you have cheap clothing from forever 21 or high end clothing that you could get more $ for at a better consignment store. read more

While I was looking for a sweater to try on I got treated very poorly by a African American female employee who shouted, "HEY MAKE SURE HE DOESN'T WALK AROUND WITH OUR CLOTH." This is not a place geared for me, so it makes sense that I was less than impressed with the place. It is geared for teenagers and young 20 somethings. It's a consignment shop that raided the juniors section of everyone's closet. If you're looking for thin material clothes, mini skirts, or stretch skinny jeans, this is the place to shop. The prices were actually pretty good and the staff was friendly. In sheer quantity the selection was pretty impressive for a second hand store, I just wish they had something more than junior's fashion choices. read more

The staff member had never heard of the UO and Nordstrom store brands, so she rejected all the items. Came in today to drop off clothes, the employee told me to come back around 3:30 so I did, they hadn't even started looking at my basket of clothing yet. The same employee told me to come back 30 minutes later, so I showed up at 4 and my basket of clothing was still sitting there untouched. I ended up waiting an extra 2 hours for 13 items which is pretty fucking ridiculous. I took in 3 bags and a few coats and they only took 4 items. They told me that it had to be in season and in style and it couldn't be more than a year old! Okay prices and a lot of name brands to buy but they only accept name brands so don't expect to sell a lot if you go there. Unless u have VSX, pink, American eagle, etc I would go somewhere else. DO NOT SHOP/SELL HERE! I came here to sell some clothes one day and decided to come right when they open (10am) since their wait times are always so long during the day. The problem was, NO ONE WAS THERE TO OPEN THE STORE. So I thought I could just wait a couple minutes for a manager or whoever opens the store to come, but no one showed up for almost an hour. Completely irresponsible. On top of that, it was freezing cold that day and there was children with parents waiting outside in the freezing cold. I was furious and so were the people waiting with their bags/bins of clothes! Other than that, the multiple times I've been to this location the people that work here are extremely rude and stuck up. Not to mention there's always a foul smell of marijuana near the men's section. They really need to step up their game and not have a teenager running the store. Came in yesterday with a box of clean hardly used clothing. I included a list of the items with the Brand names...Gap, Free People etc. I had the feeling they didn't like that I had listed everything on paper. There were 2 sun dresses and gap hot pink and white checked ankle pants, the ripped jeans look jeans, knit tops (never worn or worn once) from the teen department at Macy's, a pair of Kensie leather mid height heels my teen neighbor now has. My point....Nothing you would wear to a job. When i came back to pick up my things they said they took nothing because they were too much like a ladies Business Clothes ????? !!! hahaha They could of had a better lie than That. Bottom line Bad Experience. I was warned by others about Platos rip off buying prices but I had to try it for myself. Never Ever Again.
