My friend and I walked in and we were approached by five girls, they looked at my bag filled with clothes that have been sitting in the same give away bag for months. One girl took the bag and put it on the floor and bent down to smell the clothes. She then got up and walked around to each of her employees saying the bag smelt. The girls were all trying to keep their laughing quiet but it was very obvious that they were laughing. The girl came up to the counter and told me that my clothes smell like "weed" and that if I want to sell my clothes I would need to wash them and come back. Mind you, the clothes were clothes that were passed down or given to me that I no longer wanted so I was confused on how they smelled weed. This store needs new employees. ASAP read more

Today, I stopped by wanting to sell some clothes and I have two service animals that came along with me...as I walked in the girls at the front desk stopped me and told me "no pets allowed" and I explained that they were indeed service animals, but then they told me they needed to see documentation??? They offered around the same amount for a Kate Spade bag. When I was taking the items she said it's not about making money which I can understand but don't say that if you are going to purchase the items for low just to sell it for 3x to 4x times you purchased the time for. Took 35 pieces of my lightly worn office clothes and handbags and other accessories in a box clean and folded. They looked at 2-3 pieces with an immature look of disgust. Surprised I asked, what's wrong? They said everything smelled like smoke and I had to wash it and bring it back separated and folded. as a first time customer, truthfully, I am disappointed. I went to the Wellington location, hoping to sell some of my items such as Lily, Brooks Brothers, Nike, Adidas, etc. Only get a phone call two hours later that they had only picked 2 to 3 items out of my stuff. when I went to pick up my items of what was left over, I noticed that nothing had been touched. I had asked the front desk if they had taken any of my lily items especially and they said that something was wrong with them. My lily dresses were practically brand new. No stains no rips nothing was wrong. But when asking I was given an attitude about how my clothes should've been cleaner. It's a no from me. I used to love Plato's years ago, but it was a different location. I'm not sure if it's just this location or if Plato's has gone downhill over the years in general. I went to sell some clothes and while I was browsing, a literal spider scurried out of a clothing item on the rack. Not to mention, I never received a text or call when my clothes were finished being reviewed, and I was waiting over an hour for about 10 items. Yesterday, I went to Plato's in Wellington. I was pleasantly disappointed. I reviewed the online website where it is advertised as buying all day, everyday. As the store closes at 6pm, I arrived at 5:22pm. There was an employee at the cash register helping another customer, as I waited there was no greeting nor recognition of arrival. A few minutes later an individual walks over and informs me they aren't taking any more buys today because they are closing. When I questioned the online information the response was sorry we're closing. This was frustrating because I reviewed the online site specifically for this reason prior to arrival. They have the cutest selection and it's all in style. it easy to find pieces that look brand new at 1/4th of the original price. Their buy process is amazing. You can bring in your own gently used clothes and, if they meet the store's standards, you can earn cash on the spot. When I arrived the staff members gave me a run down of what they were looking for and helped me understand the process. Was told I had stains on all of my clothes, so that is why they didn't buy anything. I know for a fact only 2 old vintage Levi shorts had small stains. But the rest did not have any stains. So I pulled out a brand new romper I never wore from ASOS, that a friend wore once and washed. 0 stains. And the employee turned the romper inside out and said because the cotton on the inside had some fuzzies, and that was considered stained. And the store "does not buy worn out clothes". However I don't know how that store is making any money the brands they sell in store would seem to appeal to a middle age woman, if that and not a fashionable one. First off I've came here about two different times rarely ever found something i liked and If i did it's a win for me. There stuff is all old looking for Wellington being a wealthy area . I've worked at a Plato's closet before so i know the drill on what they take and how it works. When i did work at Plato's the owner would ask the teens what we should buy because she was an older lady who was unsure... maybe this place should too. The first time i came i doubled checked the clothes before brining it in. They took about one item only which is fine but i was confused and they have a "buy" sheet which explains why items were not taken , the girl looks at the paper and it's empty and then makes up a reason. As if I'm stupid?? I went again and gave it a second chance two of my items i bought from the Plato's and they didn't accept them?? The girl didn't even show me what they took and didn't give me a reason as to why the others weren't. I have absolutely adored going to platos closet for years. when i travel around the state i like to see what types of clothes each plato's has. This location is my local one, and i actually got pretty lucky because the merchandise here is always great. They do a really good job at shopping for clothes when you bring them in, and the reason they don't buy a bunch of clothes is because they need to keep their store up to date and up to standard! There are lots of variables when it comes to buying clothes that people do not know about. Whenever i come here i'm always greeted when i walk in the door, and if i need help with anything i could just simply ask. I brought some clothes in that I bought a month ago and never worn. They had price tags still on them and yet, the staff refused to take them saying they look worn and old. I have been selling my daughters clothes at this location for years. As a matter of fact I drive 30+ mins to sell at this location. The girls that work there are sweet and honest. I have gotten great and fair deals on all my clothes. What they don't take I donate to the foster family program on Okeechobee. It's a win win for everyone.
