I was looking for a nice refreshing fruit bowl or smoothies. The Playa Bowl has plenty of choices and I wanted to try the specials. I was not disappointed. The pumpkin pie smoothie was made with oat milk. The jack o lantern açaí bowl contains pumpkin flax granola, pumpkin butter, and pumpkin spice with banana. When you mix it all together the bowl is very flavorful and scrumptious . I was full after eating the whole jack o lantern bowl. The service was good, I didn't have to wait for a long time. I love acai bowls, but I never had a chance to try Playa Bowls until recently right before my Wegmans grocery shopping spree across the street. I had a very pleasant experience here, and the interior dining area was a lot bigger than I expected! I liked the cute Hawaiian theme/colors that gave the space a very "refreshing" feel. I got the Pura Vida bowl, which was delicious! I do feel that there's a little too much granola and honey for the sweetness level, but perhaps this is something I can adjust next time. Before Playa Bowls, I never craved acai bowls. Now, I want them all the time. I've ordered from Playa Bowls twice. Both times, my orders tasted fresh and were neatly prepared. The Coco Berry bowl is my favorite -- I'm crazy about the coconut blend! The only bit of not-glowing-feedback I have is for the green bowl; it just wasn't as appetizing to me as the others. That said, to each her own! Also, I wish the website were more upfront about the ingredients in the kale blend. They *are* under the FAQ, but I had an allergic reaction to my Ocean Ave bowl because pineapple wasn't listed as an ingredient of the kale blend on the ordering page. I've frequented this location several times when I've been in the area. I'm a major Playa fan, who has been to many different locations. While Playa is a chain, I can still sometimes see quality differences between locations. I've used the Playa app each time that I've been to this location. I've always gotten my go-to custom bowl. It consists of a half pitaya and half coconut base, with vanilla whey blended in. I usually get kiwi, mango, banana, and strawberry on top as my fruit toppings. For other toppings, I opt in for shredded coconut, and the standard granola inclusion that comes with every bowl. Each time I have ordered from this location, the employees have been pleasant in serving me as soon as I enter. My bowl quality has also been consistent each time, and the portions of topping that I pay extra for are generous. I have noticed sometimes that other locations skimp; that does annoy me, as I pay an extra fee for each and every inclusion besides granola. The location is also clean with lots of open seating. Despite this location being in a high-volume area of shoppers and busy state routes of Cherry Hill, I have only had good experiences. This is my first time ever in life getting a bowl like this. My husband usually gets them often. I see the Açaí bowls all the time but I was never interested. I looked on the menu and noticed they have a nice selection of bases and you don't have to just get Açaí. You also have the option of doing a half and half base bowl which I thought was great if you wanted to try two different bases. I opted for the Stupid Cupid with added sliced banana and it was right up my alley!!!!!!! It was sooooo good! The only two things I wish is 1.They offered a smaller size because that thing was a lot to finish. 2. There's a build your own option with a list of bases and toppings. Now to be clear I never went inside I just sent my husband my order from the online menu as I finished up business in the car. They could have those options in the store but I didn't see them online or on the regular paper menu. Either way it's a far healthier alternative to the big a$$ thousand calorie Sundae I had last week lol! I say go get one! read more

COVID19 Quarantine Delivery Order Review; Since it's opening in Cherry Hill, I've wanted to try Playa Bowls. I finally decided to give them a try during this Cornona19 Quarantine. The owner has continued to update their Facebook with cleaning standards, delivery options and charitable contributions to local hospitals. This made me 100% comfortable with ordering from them through Door Dash. I ended up ordering the Nutella Bowl Acai Bowl. It was delicious. The fruit was fresh, the acai was cold & delicious, the granola was crunchy (even after delivery) and the portion size was decent. I first fell for Playa Bowls in Rehoboth Beach over the summer. I had no idea there was one right here (kinda) in my own backyard! This is especially helpful when my kiddos want to divert from their go-to Nutella bowl and can't agree on something. In addition to your standard acai and pitaya bowls, they have kale based bowls, coconut, oatmeal, chia and even poke' bowls! So many choices!! The Cherry Hill location is an awesome location. And my favorite bowl is the Coconut Power Bowl. It's probably 100% more square footage eating space than the Rowan location, which makes sense since university locations usually are smaller than regular. This is a very clean and well-maintained shop in the Wegman's shopping center. This is a more upscale area than most in South Jersey, so it would be expected this Playa Bowls would meet a higher bar. Since your bowl is made to order, the wait time is about the same as the other location. The menu is equally as overwhelming, but I'm more used to it now and know how to navigate it. The price is still expensive but the serving size large. I wish they had smaller servings for less cost. Although healthy ingredients, these are still high calorie. I keep wondering since I love Playa Bowls, what is it preventing me from a five-star rating? Bottom line is the cost. It is too high, even for such a large serving of deliciousness. I could get an entire Italian meal at a decent restaurant for what I pay for Playa Bowls--with leftovers, which is never something I seem to have here. read more

I was thoroughly disappointed in my Acai bowl. Prior to eating my bowl, I was impressed by the size of it - the bowls are a nice size for the price. I got Acai, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, coconut and granola. First off, the granola was waaaaayyy too sweet. It tasted more like sugary granola-wannabe cereal than actual granola. Next, all of the fruit was on the top, so most of the bowl was straight-up acai. Most places do a layer of granola on the bottom, some fruit on the sides and top. Well today I went back to Playa Bowl and I was welcome by Alexis then I showed her my review and the owner's response. When I tell you she was sooooo apologetic and talked to me about all bowls, smoothies, juices, etc, I was super impressed! She was soooooooo awesome, sweet, funny, and deserves a raise, promotion, and to be head trainer of all new employees, I mean it. Her customer service skills were beyond phenomenal and her personality alone made the whole experience worth while. Now I got a half acai, half coconut bowl and I must say OMG it was delicious!! The employee was standing there right above 2 uncovered bowls for customers while eating her own bowl. She was actually sucking on her spoon. She takes the spoon out of her mouth, speaks with me, grabs my bag with her spoon in her other hand and hands the bag to me. I really like Playa Bowls. In fact, I have received all of the 12 stamps on my Playa Bowls stamp card required to receive a free acai bowl or smoothie on my next visit. I can't wait. Compared to other options, it's easy to order here, the service is polite and helpful, the place is clean, and the ingredients are high quality. I build my own - in an attempt to reduce the sugar - but I'm sure I'm still getting a lot of sugar. I also ordered a water, but it was not in my bag when I finally got home to eat it. Disappointed. I ordered on here, and it took 40 minutes for my single bowl. Definitely order in advance. They are always busy from the few times I have been in the complex for other eateries. Also when I walked into the establishment no one greeted me and I looked directly at some of the staff. That wasn't nice. It felt like they were waiting for someone else whose job it was to greet me??? The girl that finally greeted me said she didn't see me...I was right in front of her. I don't know how I was missed, but it felt purposeful. Other than that, Great bowl! Could use some customer service improvement. Also, the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. I got the Dolce here and it was a little weird. For some reason, it had a sour taste and I looked up what was in it again when I got home (banana, chocolate protein, peanut, and coconut milk). Nothing in there made sense as to why it was so sour unless they were using weird bananas or something. I don't know. I've gotten similar smoothies from other places in the past and I've never had it be sour. Besides that, I was a little too sweet for my taste.
