It's frustrating when you put clear instructions and pay extra for the order to be completely wrong. Shouldn't be paying $20 when instructions are followed!! When I pay for extra for any product I should receive that but when I got my bowl that was supposed to be extra Nutella there wasn't even the normal amount on it!! Came here on opening day & it was WILD!!!! Luckily I was one of the first 50 people on the line & I got a free bowl!!! I've been coming to Playa Bowls since the original in Belmar, NJ & I just can't believe how far they've come and the following they've built, truly amazing. Every single Playa Bowls I have been to, and I've been to MANY of them, are CONSISTENTLY great. I've NEVER had a problem with any of them. This is an awesome addition to Darien and I'm so relieved I don't have to drive all the way to Fairfield or even back to NJ to get Playa Bowls. The owners / founders are such humble people & on opening day they were entertaining the large crowd & talking to everyone. They were so personable & it makes supporting their business even better. The bowls are the best and the fruit / toppings are ALWAYS fresh. I can NOT say enough good things about Playa Bowls! I recommend it to EVERYONE. I love Playa Bowl and I hate writing this review but I paid $30 for 2 bowls and one wasn't even done correctly. I ordered an Electric Mermaid Bowl with an add on of almond butter. The bowl came sloppy and had honey all over the container, it was sticky to touch. My friend ordered a Nutella Bowl with half açaí base half pitaya base. She substituted out nutella for peanut butter (because she doesn't like chocolate) and added honey and blueberries. The bowl came with Nutella and no added honey even though I was charged. Both bowl presentations were sloppy. And I understand they were busy for first opening but I have been to Fairfield many times when they were busy and my bowls have always come out Instagram worthy and correctly. I have high hopes for the Darien locations but I do hope they improve. read more

The food is great and fresh, but none of the employees ever have their hair tired back which is a big health concern. I've ordered several times and was shocked by this. Seems like something that should be addressed by management. read more

These bowls and smoothies are *really good*. Located right on Main Street in Darien, Playa bowls is really easy to get to, has a fun & young ambiance, and is loaded with smoothie, bowl, and juice options. Slightly pricey, especially if you add in whey protein to any bowl or smoothie. 4/5 stars because sometimes the fruit is not ripe enough and could taste sour (I'd say avoid mango here, since it happens the most frequently with this fruit), and I sense a good deal of added sugar. A suggestion to the business would be to let customers know which bowls just contain natural fruit sugar vs ones with sugar added in. Thanks!! read more

Rude staff, served friends first who ordered nearly 10 minutes after. Waited nearly a half an hour for a bowl when I was the only one in the store. The girl who served me didn't even include spoons, and just said "here" didn't address her or complain or anything, one bowl wasn't even correct. I went there on a Tuesday around 2:30 and ordered ONE açaí bowl. There was about 10 workers and I waited about half an hour to get my ONE açaí bowl. Many came after me and ordered multiple bowls and smoothies. I did not understand how they got theirs first. I finally had to ask about my order to find out that they forgot. Loving Playa Bowls in Darien, such a great addition. I started with the Acai Power Bowl, had a few of those, then tried the Green Power, but now I'm digging the Coco Power Bowl. The place is festive and fun, so happy that the kids now have a great, safe place to visit and have fun. Wishing for the team at Playa Bowls much success. Opening up in the middle of a pandemic cannot be easy. Also, they are hiring many local kids, for whom this is a first real job....so give them a little break as they get organized and efficient. read more

Great bowls and smoothies. Great addition to the local restaurants. So much better than Robeks in Norwalk and Stamford. The ingredients taste fresh, lots of fruit, and unlike Robeks they actually remember to add the additional fruit that you pay for. Playa Bowls is great.
