I ordered a Playa Bowl through Grubhub and was very disappointed with the experience. When it arrived, the bowl was completely frozen -- the fruit and toppings were hard and not edible. I had to transfer everything to another bowl and wait for it to defrost, but by then the fruit was mushy and all mixed together. When I called the store, I was told that orders waiting for drivers are placed in the freezer. This practice is unacceptable and ruins the quality of the food. read more

This is my favorite Playa Bowl. It is clean , consistent and some of the workers are nice. This is a treat for once in awhile for me. Yes I know they are high in sugar but hey it's natural sugar ! And we all need a treat at times. It's still better than a bagel coated in cream cheese and just as yummy! My favorite is the Stupid Cupid. Loaded with strawberries, cacao, coconut and granola ! As a lover of playa bowls one would think a location in a lovely town such as Franklin Lakes would have some sort of standards but this was by far the worst bowls I have ever gotten in the Northern NJ area. I got two bowls, a tropical bowl and a pure vida bowl and they were barely filled to the top, and the Acai base tasted icy and frozen rather than smooth, and fresh like I'm used to in other locations. The strawberries were super wilted and gross -- it literally looked like it was sitting in water and there were blisters on the sliced strawberries. Just shocked at how poorly prepared these bowls were and how for the price - they barely filled the entire container. Will not be back to this one. read more

I love Playa Bowls but unfortunately this location isn't my favorite. I wish I could say it was since it's convenient for me, which is a bummer. But I'm hoping for future improvements at this location. The reason for that is because the Acai tastes a bit diluted and too icy (which makes it colder) when compared to other locations. Yes, I know the difference since I probably eat more Playa Bowls then I should. There's a decent amount of seating inside and outside which is nice. The space itself is very cute and clean. It may be a bit hard to find at first as the sign doesn't stand out much from the strip mall that it's located in. Don't forget to get a Loyalty Card if you haven't done so yet - it works at any Playa Bowl locations and you'll get a free bowl for every 12 you order :) read more

I order through their app about once or twice a month for my boyfriend and I to have dinner and it's always smooth sailing (I'm a sucker for not having to call in an order but place it online instead). This was my first ever Playa Bowls experience. I have never had acai ever and i think i found my new true love. Who needs ice cream when you have this!? I was blown away with how awesome this place is. The decor is beautiful and the inside and so clean and nice. My girlfriend and i decided to stop in here while at the market next door and it was the best decision ever. We are new to the playa bowl experience so we stuck with the classic Acai bowl although they had other "bases" to choose from. We decided on going with the Nutella bowl which had strawberry, banana, Nutella, coconut, and granola in it. WOW was i blown away. The acai is essentially blended or something to make it into an Italian ice consistency, and then everything else gets thrown on top. I was expecting it to be like a whole fruit or something, i didn't know. It was nothing short of wonderful, its like ice cream, but healthier (i think). Although expensive at $11 for the bowl, it was big enough that we could split just one. I was amazed how delicious it was, i highly recommend coming here if you have never had one of these things. They also have healthy smoothies and other little snacks; really cool place in my opinion. I'll be back! read more

Big fan of Playa Bowls. My favorite two things to order are the Nutalla Bowl and the Stupid Cupid Bowl. I also tried the Avalanche Bowl which is a winter special and that was really good as well. This location of playa bowls is clean and nicely decorated. I do wish they had more sit down tables inside and less barstool seating. My only complaint would be that the wait staff is young and inpatient. They can be a bit rude at times and I just try to ignore them. read more

I have been to this location twice now and it has never failed to impress me. My first time I ordered the electric mermaid. It was my first ever Playa Bowl and it tasted heavenly. My second time I ordered DragonBerry and it cost as much as a normal bowl even when berries are out of season! The DragonBerry was outstanding too! You can see the workers making your fresh smoothie and then placing the fresh fruit on top. Since they make the bowls/smoothies on the spot, you might have to wait a while (5-7 minutes) for your food, but trust me, it is worth the wait. Both bowls were cold and the perfect meal to refresh you on a summer day! The granola has a slight blueberry taste and is easy to crunch. It compliments the honey so well. The inside is decorated beautifully and is always clean. You even get a free sticker with your purchase! Overall this location is perfect and I will most likely be coming back regularly! read more

They're okay, but I'm not sure why every time I order a large smoothie I get a 16oz cup instead of a 20oz cup. I just found out in Belmar today what the two sizes actually look like. This place and the Pompton Plains playa bowl too, hide the cups behind the counter and serve a 16 oz as a large instead of 20oz, but for the price of a 20oz. I always thought I was getting a true large, but now I know I was not. I feel ripped off now. They also really, and I mean really skimp on the almond butter in not by sir bowls, and when I pay 75 cents more for extra they give me such a wimpy tiny little drizzle that I feel like my 75 cents went into the garbage because it's pretty much nothing extra. This is at both places as well. I think I will make my own playa bowls at home. They cost about $15 and are usually half melted by the time I get them. read more

I called at 7:30 telling the sweet girl on the phone I'd be around at 7:45 (15 min before they would close ) I was looking to place an order because most businesses if you walk in right around closing you'll get crap service . Açaí bowels are great. It's kind of hard to mess up though. I don't t come here often, but I should. It's not too far and it's always delicious. They use fresh fruit and I always top it off with Nutella. The portions are pretty big so this can be a meal for some, or just a refreshing snack for someone else. Perfect snack for the summer! I think the prices are pretty decent for the amount that you get. Definitely recommend if you're in the mood for and açaí bowl. This location is pretty good. I've been here a few times and I understand that the wait is somewhat long - the place is popular and busy. However, there was one time that I waited 30+ minutes for an order placed in-house. All the while, the staff was prioritizing the orders placed on the app/called in. This particular staff was just inexperienced. After a while they were making the orders of the customers that complained the loudest. I don't blame the staff, they were understaffed and inexperienced for a busy, warm Saturday afternoon. I've been here when it was wayyyyy busier and got served much faster. I got the Nutelloco and everything about it was great but specifically the granola was amazing. The actual store has the nicest decor and atmosphere than all the other locations I've been to. This location is my least favorite in NJ for these reasons: 1. Workers are all rude, unfriendly, and dry. I'm not one to care if I get greeted with a warm welcome, but dirty stares are unacceptable. Customer service is an extremely important aspect of running a successful business, the staff should look into that & learn. 2. Half assed filled bowls; I ask for half açaí and half coconut every single time, yet I get a 1/4 açaí. Pictures to come. 3. They really could have 5 stars BUT every time I order for pickup through doordash, my order is never ready in time. As I arrive and mention my doordash order, that's when the associates process the order otherwise it goes unnoticed. Why is this service available if the associates aren't trained to monitor doordash orders? The last time I ordered, doordash gave me credit back because my order was sitting on the counter for a good 15 minutes until I asked for a status. I went home with a soupy acai bowl.
