    Cheese Corn

Holy wow! As someone who eats out a lot - it is quite hard to impress me this much. This little hip place in eglinton square really surprised me with the ambiance and area. The service was quick and the food came out super fast. We decided on getting Mexican corn as our appetizer which was amazing and flavourful and better than a quac and chips appetizer (which was for some reason $15!?!?) Next we shared 3 tacos, crispy shell shrimp, soft shell fish and soft shell octopus. Out of everything we ate the shrimp taco was 10/10 amazing. It reminded me of Birria tacos but for people who don't eat red meat! And to follow up was the fish taco which was an 8/10 because the fish was crispy and perfect and felt fresh which was lovely. The octopus one was good as well but my 3rd fave. I will and would go here again - what a fabulous place and you should 100% check out the Mexican corn appetizer and the shrimp tacos!

A "happy birthday" note. So thoughtful.

The menu highlights classic Armenian dishes with touches of Lebanese flavour, all inspired by recipes passed down from their late mother. You can really feel the care and tradition behind each plate. We visited on a weekday evening to celebrate my sister's birthday, and the team surprised us with a sweet birthday note waiting at our table. The restaurant has both a main floor and an upper level that can be used for private events. The vibe is elegant yet cozy, making it a lovely spot for a special night out. We tried "Yalla Per" menu which is the tasting/experience menu here, that includes cold appetizer, warn appetizer, main dish and dessert. You can also do wine or cocktail pairing at extra cost. We trued "Cold Appetizer Trio", "Kibbeh Nayeh", "Bazoog Salad", and "Mante" from the appetizers menu. For entrée, we tried "Vochkhar" and finished off with "Ashta Tart". Everything tasted fresh and delicious; perfect combination of spices.

Highly recommend the lamb chops as well. Service was quick and attentive. We sat on the top floor which was cozy.

Enjoyed stopping by Jade with my parents tonight!…read more We made a reservation on open table, although there were definitely some tables that I think would be free for walk ins. There's a nice pink flower wall in the entrance and the interior is a bit dark and cozy with velvet booths and a nice bar. We ordered oysters, kaizen toast, tofu, steak, sea bass, lobster spaghetti, and broccolini. A few thoughts: - the oysters are nice, I appreciate the tiny bits of rice that add a bit of a texture. They come with toppings already so if you're looking for just plain raw oysters, don't order these - the kaizen toast is one of their specialities. It's pretty heavy (with the foie gras and unagi) but delicious if you like all the toppings! We split between the three of us and that was the perfect amount - the steak frites were cooked perfectly and I enjoyed that the fries were truffle fries! - I would have preferred the broccolini sauce to be on the side, it was a bit heavy I also tried a lychee fizz, good, but I would probably try something else next time. Overall, a nice time especially for a nice dinner, date tonight, or celebration.

The entrance alone sets the tone with a stunning floral walkway that feels like the prelude to a special evening. Whether you're planning a romantic dinner or celebrating a special occasion, this Yorkville spot delivers an elevated experience on every level. The ambiance is sophisticated and chic, with dim lighting, luxe finishes, and a modern yet intimate vibe that makes it perfect for a date night. The service is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming; small details like offering complimentary champagne for our anniversary didn't go unnoticed and added a personal touch that made the night feel even more special. We started off with cocktails and got the Lychee Fizz, which is their most popular option. It lived up to the hype: light, flavourful, and incredibly refreshing. A perfect drink to ease into the evening. Appetizers kicked off with the Corn Dog & Caviar, which came as four perfectly crisp bites. The contrast of the crunchy exterior with the melted cheese, sausage, and caviar-mayo topping was indulgent and playful; elevated comfort food at its finest. For mains, we shared the Lobster Spaghetti, Grilled Sea Bass, and the Slaw. The spaghetti was packed with generous chunks of lobster, al dente pasta, and a breadcrumb-like topping that added an unexpected but welcome crunch. The sea bass was tender, flaky, and full of flavour, while the slaw - a sleeper hit - stood out with its mix of veggies, peanut sauce, and crispy wonton strips that gave it depth and texture. We ended the night with the Pandan Cake, a sizable chiffon-style cake topped with passionfruit, dark chocolate, strawberry, raspberry, and sakura dust. Admittedly, I was unsure how all those bold flavours would work together, but somehow it did! Delicate, airy, and perfectly balanced. Jade is the kind of place that impresses not just with its food and cocktails, but with its atmosphere and attention to detail. Whether you're celebrating love, a milestone, or just a night out, this Asian fusion spot in Yorkville is well worth the visit. Highly recommended.

My only problem is that they don't have enough lighting, so it tends to get quite dark (hence my lack of good pictures). The wait staff is accommodating, but they have forgotten to bring side dishes on two separate occasions I have visited. Also, on one occasion they started to clear a plate before we were done with it, which was annoying. The food is quite good. I particularly enjoy the bread, prawns, and mille-feuille dessert (has a nostalgic element for me as it tastes like an elevated Passion Flakie which I would have as a child). I had the lamb saddle as a main on my most recent visit which had good flavour, but was a bit too chewy. Overall, Alobar is a good choice for dinner, but has a few flaws which holds it back.

Even at aloette they would have tried to fix the table for us. Dinner was fine, but nothing stellar where I would want to come back. They were polite and nice but never took in consideration my friend was having. Scotch and always want to take the glass away without asking him if he is finished. It's dark in there, I get it but just ask instead of reach in and assume he's finished and you can clear the table. He ordered more than 2 of these and a glass of wine. They can be more professional. Oh they were nice to sneak a birthday candle with my dessert when my friend told them it's my bday. Still professional on that note being attentive
