We were told the best Chili Rellenos are at "Caleb's", a breakfast and brunch cafe, opened by an American woman in 2003, and still going strong as a bakery and restaurant. The Chili Rellenos are a 'battered' version, dipped in flour and whipped egg, then fried to a golden brown, melting the Monterey Jack cheese inside the Poblano chili (see the photo). Served with rice, refried beans and corn tortillas, it is everything locals brag about, and certainly a full meal! Current price (May,'22) is 120 pesos ($6.00 US). Sherrie chose the cinnamon sticky bun, and it was every bit a signature breakfast entrée. Don't forget to ask for butter. The owner came to our table and explained the history of her starting a restaurant - tied to her value for Christian service to the local community. She was a delight to talk to, so upbeat and positive, obviously committed to the best dining experience she could provide. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared.
