I came here on a Sunday afternoon after attending a motorcycle rally in Ramona with a group of friends. It was burning hot like 100°in Ramona but Poway was cool for some reason. Once we arrived, the bartender was very attentive and brought us some cold drinks as we requested, I ordered a chicken kebab. My friends ordered a club sandwich and also wings. All of our food came out and was presented beautifully. I could only eat half of my kebabs although they were quite delicious. My friend who ordered the club sandwich ate it so fast there was nothing left. I guess he liked it. The wings were presented beautifully, hot and delicious. There was plenty of seating in here. One of the few standout restaurants in Poway is Players Sports Bar. They have a simple menu of creative comfort food favorites paired with an eye-watering selection of beers on tap! First dish I had there was an order of their outstanding Philly cheese tots. Just like it sounds, a liberal amount of grilled Philly cheesesteak over a mountain of fried tots and cheese sauce. Such a tremendous dish, perfect for sharing. On subsequent visits I've enjoyed their jambalaya; gyro; pizza, etc. All very good, although the one Cobb salad I had was rather unorthodox. Most recently I had the Loco Moco and it was very tasty. Players is tucked in the western corner of the Poway Wal Mart center, right next to the DMV. Perfect place to unwind after a trying visit to the DMV, or while waiting 4 hours for your number to come up. Highly recommended for Happy Hour! read more

Huge diverse menu with something for everyone! Hubby had the gyro and it was perfect. Super soft pita and the meat was spot on flavor for a gyro. Oh, almost forgot, the tater tots were amazing, cooked perfectly soft and crispy! The wedge salad is nothing to write home about, just your standard wedge with not nearly enough bacon! We had the garlic parm wings and the Player's Hot wings and both were great, our favorite being the hot ones! Only drawback is the noise level, it's super loud! A cool little neighborhood sports bar with a nice size patio. I love craft beers and they have a good selection of local beers. The service has always been great and for some reason I always have the same waitress which is fine because she's great. For a small sports bar they have a pretty big food menu and the prices are very fair. They have a lot of TVs and during the NFL season they have the teams logos on the TVs of each game. Visited 9/3/2022 Suggested to me from a good friend I thought I'd try this great Sports Bar here in the Walmart parking lot nestled in between Taco Taco and The DMV. Funny thing is I've eaten next door At one of my favorite Taco joints for years and never stopped in here. Nice roomy place with lots of seating inside and out. Three Pool Tables and kid friendly. Dogs are encouraged on the outside patio. They have a huge selection of draft beer and a mass amount of televisions throughout the bar. Service was first class and the beer was ice cold. I was baffled but delighted at the same time and the strange selections on the menu. Things such as Standard bar food to Thai Spring Rolls, Cajun Jambalaya, Hawaiian Loco Moko, And even Pizza. I tried the spring rolls and the jambalaya with shrimp . Both were very tasty and enjoyable. I went with The .394 Draft Beer to wash it all down and wasn't disappointed with any of my experience. Randomly dropped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with this place! It was quiet for a Saturday afternoon but they had great food for a really good price, and I loved that there's a ton of TV's to watch the games. We tried the mango habanero & insanity wings and as people who enjoy spice, we were pleased with the spice levels of both flavors and the wings were huge! Also got the 10" pepperoni pizza and the spicy chicken wrap and were pleased with both of those as well. Will definitely be coming back to spend Sunday game days here! read more

Today we came in for an afternoon snack of jumbo wings, cheesy tots, and onion rings. The place was lively, fun and family friendly. Games from many sports were on the dozens of tvs on the wall. Since it was Saturday, college football was all over the place. We loved it. It's not too crowded and aisles are very spacious. Lindsey, our waitress, was super attentive, friendly and nice. She was able to take our order with no paper and remember it perfectly. The drinks were nice and cold. The food came out fresh, hot and fast. We were surprised the wings came out relatively fast. This place has 3 pool tables, 2 corn hole toss, and a jukebox for great music. The patio is on the side for fresh air. This is my spot. Love this place and the food is always delicious. Beer is always cold and well served in the glass; no foamy amateurs pouring here. Wednesday Nights is $10 Burgers ($2 for fries, tots, chips, etc.) and $4 Personal Pizzas Night ($1.50/topping). There are plenty of big screen tvs with all of the sporting events playing. You can also pay to play pool at one of the 3 pool tables. Inside and outside seating is a plus. Right next to DMV so plan to eat here after you get your license or registration. read more

My group from work descended upon players at lunch for two coworkers going away party. Unfortunately, nobody called ahead to let them know (oops). The staff immediately sprung into action and played Tetris with the tables. Moving them around to accommodate our group of 27. We were all seated and more coworkers came in (table added). We started to order drinks and more coworkers entered (another table added). I could write for days about this.. I wont... I ordered the Hawaiian burger which happened to be on the $10 menu. Let me explain that the $10 menu is just the sandwich. If you want fries or tater tots that's an additional $1.50. Probably the one thing that I thought was weird as the sides normally come with the burgers on the regular menu. My burger came out and it was lovely. However, I forgot to take a picture of it. I remembered halfway through and it wouldn't have been pretty! It was really tasty and on a ciabatta bun. My appreciation goes to the staff who were most likely short handed as they weren't expecting us. They filled our water glasses and have out ranch dressing with smiles. Thank you! read more

We took the. 91 yo MiiL, the sister/brother-in-law from Missouri and the niece from Georgia.and 4 ordered the BLT, one California Burger and one chicken kabob. My mother-in-law said its the best BLT she ever ate. And, this frail 91 year old, not only ate the whole sandwich, and all te onion rings. The niece said hers was just great and her Tomato bisque was good. The brother-in-law had the California burger and the speed he devoured it, was amazing. I had the chicken kabob, as I trying to lose the ten pounds i gained on the cruise to Cabo, and avoiding carbs. I had started with the steak kabob, but were out, But, for $5 less, you get 2 chicken kabobs, with onions, mushrooms, green peppers and pineapples, along with rice and teriyaki sauce! Joanne, our wonderful waitress, just came by and said one of the customers was so impressed with my mother-in-law, eating the whole BLT, paid the bill for the whole table! It was amazing. Pros: Pool tables, dog-friendly outdoor seating and right next to the DMV -- it was much nicer to get a bite here to wait (and wait, and wait) for my number to come up than to wait in the DMV lobby. We got sliders with tater tots... the portion was great but the quality was meh. I thought the meat on the sliders was of mediocre quality and the tots weren't spectacular in my opinion. Next time I'm at the DMV waiting then I will probably come by and try something else, but based on this experience I won't have super high expectations. read more

One star only because you can't leave zero. I heard this place was dog friendly and came in on a Sunday after a hike with our 2 dogs and sat on the patio. We were given menus and water. Not long after a large group came and also sat on the patio. The staff completely ignored us and never took our order until after they took the order of the large group. After finally taking our order a half hour later, they never brought our drinks until I asked for them again after our food was already brought out. The wait staff only catered to the large group. I don't know if it was the dogs or they just didn't care about waiting on 2 people when they had a large group. Either way, it's not a place I will ever return to because I have never been anywhere where the service was this bad. read more

I interacted with several servers and they were all super friendly. And somehow they managed to remember our names and split the bill in the most ridiculous complicated manner. Like, me and guy#2 are going to treat guy#3 and cover his whole bill, in addition to paying for our own bills. And oh yeah I'm buying guy#2 another round while we are at it! Great hangout spot to get a quick bite for lunch or to spend the afternoon with a couple of drinks and playing billiards. They have 3 pool tables, a jukebox, a couple of board games, etc. I can see this place having crowds for watching sporting events or fights; they have tons of tv's all around. My coworkers and I stopped by for lunch around 11 and all tables were free. However it quickly started to fill with other workers around 11:30. I ordered the Philly Cheese Tots which was delicious! It was perfectly crispy and didn't have that greasy taste like most fried foods. There was also a good ratio of melted cheese and steak. Would definitely order again. My coworkers ordered their French Dip, the Roundup Burger, Philly Cheesesteak, and the Spicy Chicken Wrap. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Their Happy Hour is Monday thru Friday from 2PM-7PM. They offer 12 food items for $6.95 or less (nachos, house salad, street tacos, etc) and over 40 drinks for $4 or less (house wines, Coors Light/ Bud Light pints, etc). Overall it was a good first experience. Great food and exceptional customer service. Our server didn't give us a hard time for giving each of us 5 separate checks and she was very attentive. Terrible... Not sure if this just for locals. We came here for a late lunch at 3pm. When we walked in the server was taking an order at a table, looked up at us, didn't say anything to us. So we walked in at sat at a table. We literally sat there for for 10mins and the server walked by us 3 times. Did not acknowledge us, did not offer menu, or drinks. My first time in since 2018 and I have to say that I was really impressed! I was craving a cheeseburger and fries and decided to give Players a try. I ordered the BSM burger, bacon, Swiss, mushrooms. It was so good! The place was clean, the staff was friendly and the water was great! I ate everything, every bite was flavored. I have never been to this place. But I will make the trip from La Mesa to Poway when the doors re-open. The establishment owner does not want to risk the health and safety of customers due to the Poway water issues, so he made a responsible decision. However, the fact that he pays his employees, even though the doors remain closed is what makes me want to support his business.
