Lauren was so wonderful during my engagement photo session! We loved her airy, bright, light style and my fiancé insisted on going with her. From the get go, she was always willing to work with us. She helped us choose an engagement photo spot that met my interests. Before our session, I sent her a Pinterest board with photos that got to the 'vibe' I was trying to capture in the photos and poses. When we met her, she was there early and ready. She had reviewed the board, and already had a plan laid out! We are both not so great in front of the camera, but she was so natural and got both of us to loosen up quickly and so many amazing shots. This review is long overdue! Lauren has taken photos of our family before and this is the first year she did our photos in November for the holidays. For the past two years we've hired photographers in other countries that we visit during November when we take the kids along with us for our anniversary trip. I told Lauren I wish I could take her with us wherever we go because I love her photos! She is great with kids, so patient, so sweet and tries really hard to connect with them to make them laugh and smile. I've been eyeing Playful soul photography and finally had an opportunity to try them out at a free mini photoshoot experience. As a mom sometimes just a good five minutes of photos is all you and your kids have patience's for before they loose attention span. Its been about 8 yrs since we last took family photos. I booked a last minute mini session with Lauren for one of her outdoor sessions. From the get-go, Lauren was super responsive. I hired Lauren for my proposal shoot and it turned out awesome! When I first reached out, Lauren made sure to schedule a consultation to nail down the proposal and how to best capture it. She gave recommendations on timing, where all the attendees would be stationed, and talked through a plan of action of making sure that my girlfriend would be surprised. It was extremely detailed and we discussed many points that I would have never thought about! She also made sure to tell me which way to face my girlfriend so the perfect moment would be captured. I'm a DJ and I worked with Lauren and her team on a wedding at Orcutt Ranch. She and her team are incredibly nice and very easy to work with. We worked as a team to review the timeline together and made sure we were all prepared whenever a special moment in the wedding was about to happen (ie first dance, toasts, cake cutting, parent dances, etc.). I decided to do something very special for my mom on her birthday and booked Lauren for a mini shoot. This is actually the second time that my wife and I have worked with Jay and Playful Soul Photography. The first time was for our wedding and reception and I wish I could've given a review on that at the time. You can really tell that Jay has a lot of experience shooting weddings. Days before our big day, we talked with him and planned out what is expected and he even made a suggestion for our reception that all three of us eat first, so that when we are done, my wife and I can go to each of the tables and take pictures with our guests. Photography with Jay went smooth and the pictures were of high quality and high resolution. Now I'm going to comment real quick that when we needed a photographer for our baby's baptism, it was suggested to us that we give another guy a try. Wow, what a difference! This guy is clearly new to taking photographs. While in the church, he only took pictures from one side and angle, he didn't move anywhere else. Then in the reception at the local buffet place, he was already chowing down and we had to call him to take pics of us and our guests. I'm not going to name who it is, because frankly don't remember who it was. Fast forward to my baby's first birthday that took place this past Sunday. We only had Jay for 3 hours, but he made the most of the time. Every chance he took to take pictures, whether posing or just candid, he took it. I know that at one point I was just standing there, smirking and he took the photo. With the party a lot formal than our wedding, we didn't need any direction or planning ahead, we just told him to take great photos! One of my wife's friend, who just gave birth to her own baby girl, was also in the process of looking for a photographer and remembered Jay from our wedding (and really liked how the pictures came out) and they are planning on having him take photographs at her baby's baptism. read more

Nicole and Jay are professional in every way possible and can capture the true essence of who you are with their photography.
