I was referred to Justin by a friend and am confident that he was the best photographer that I could have booked for my wedding. From the beginning, he was very responsive and communicative about his services, expectations and things to consider for the big day. As someone who was planning her own wedding and did not have a coordinator, I very much appreciated his guidance and wisdom since he has so much experience with shooting weddings! He was very understanding and patient when it came to details regarding my timeline (which I sent to him only a week before the event). On the day of, we were running late in the morning, but Justin showed up early and even kindly stayed 20 minutes later than scheduled to make sure we could squeeze in all the group pictures that we wanted. Also, to both of our surprises, my uncle showed up with a camera, but Justin was very understanding and accommodating about the matter and made sure both he and my uncle were able to capture shots without getting in each other's ways. Justin did such a wonderful job positioning my husband and me for shots. We did not really come with any ideas in mind, but Justin had such a wide array of poses, both direct and candid, that we absolutely loved. He also did such a great job showcasing both of us individually and fluffing my train/highlighting the beauty of my wedding dress! Andrew, his son and the second photographer, was also so sweet and helped make sure the full effect of my veil was captured on camera. I am also so appreciative that they went out of their way and captured some special moments via video for us to have (we did not have a videographer). We had the absolute best experience with Justin Kim Photography for our wedding! We were referred to Justin by our venue, La Petite Rose, and from the very first email he was incredibly responsive and on top of communication. He replied quickly, answered all of our questions, and was so accommodating to our wedding schedule. We had a short brunch wedding and only booked him for two hours because we really wanted to enjoy the celebration with our guests but Justin truly made the most of every single minute. We warned him ahead of time that we are not photogenic people and told him we would need him to take the lead. We're also not very picky and just wanted a few photos to hang in our home. Well... he completely exceeded that expectation. He guided us through posing, made us feel comfortable, kept reminding me to smile and not stress (which I needed! ), and somehow managed to capture the most romantic and candid photos of us. For just one person shooting, he was incredibly organized and attentive. He even captured short video clips along the way. In just a two-hour window, he delivered SO many beautiful images -- far more than we expected. We especially loved how he captured the outdoor setting of our venue and made sure to highlight the details of my wedding dress. One of our favorite moments was at the end when he asked us to do one final spin for a farewell shot. Working with Justin was a fantastic experience. I'm genuinely sad everything is all over because both him and Andrew have been an absolute delight to work with. We chose Justin as our wedding photographer because we absolutely loved his previous work at our wedding venue, The Vintage Rose. I'd always feared the thought of how much time, effort, stress, and frustration it would likely be to go through the process of arranging a wedding photoshoot, and this was the reason why I'd always tried to avoid it at all costs. Note that you really should do some research and interview several photographers before you find the right one that fits your own personal needs, tastes, and style. Having viewed Justin's website photos, we got a good feel for his style which matched exactly with what we had envisioned for our own photos. Thank goodness my lovely fiancé did much of the leg work and interviewed several photographers (by phone and zoom) to find just the right one, and that perfectly right one we finally found and went with was Justin Kim. Justin is a really nice guy who's down-to-earth, friendly, patient, very professional, well equipped prepared with everything he needs, and has a naturally great eye for photo detail, composition, and creativity. Moreover, he knows exactly how to capture the perfect and most appropriate mood and ambiance according to different situations. Justin was so helpful from day one when my fiancé found him many months before our planned photoshoot date. Justin was always there to thoroughly explain the process, promptly answered any questions we had, made suggestions of amazing venues based on his own years of past experience dealing with clients' various wants, needs, and requirements, etc. When the time came for the actual photoshoot, Justin had already prepared for this day by having checked the weather forecast, high and low tides (since Laguna Beach was one of our photoshoot locations).....he even timed our entire shoot by the minute so that we covered all the best spots (instead of wasting valuable time figuring out where to take the next shot), and even made sure we were perfectly on time for sunset shots at the beach.....he had had the entire schedule timed with notifications on his phone! Everything went perfectly and without a hitch....a big PHEW! of relief for my fiancé and I! What we really so appreciated was that Justin helped give us instructions on how to best pose, where to place our hands, tilt our heads, how and when to smile or look more serious, etc......once you get the hang of this, things will go so much quicker! Note that we had actually arranged a "casual" dress outdoor photoshoot a month earlier, just as a rehearsal leading up to our most important wedding photoshoot just recently. The pictures from that first session turned out so AMAZING!...in fact, I never knew I could Iook that decent on paper! haha...anyway, we were absolutely sold! Note that I have always hated having photos taken of myself as I'm very camera shy and not photogenic AT ALL!.... but after seeing what a great photographer Justin was and the amazing quality of photos he is capable of, we now plan on having a new and different photoshoot with Justin every year. I stumbled upon Justin's IG and found him posting artistic shots of engaged couples & wedding photos consistently! (Consistency is key; I don't want a photographer who was able to capture good shots by mere luck, but rather someone who can turn even the "palest" of moments into beautiful moments). I've reached out to 8 different photographers and ended up choosing Justin. There is absolutely 0 regrets in our decision. Let me tell you about my engagement photoshoot session. A couple days before our shoot, we were monitoring the weather and it says that it will most likely rain on our date. I couldn't get a hold of the venue we were taking photos at to see if we can reschedule. A day before our shoot, it says that it has 30% rain at our projected time and with SoCal weather, it could just be sprinkles, so we just went for it. We met Justin and his 2nd photographer, Joon, at the location and it rained here and there our entire shoot. The rain did not bother Justin nor Joon. They were professional-- still had a smile on & had a couple of jokes! Justin directed us with posing (I'm so awkward with twirls and hand placements) and it turned out fine! (I do recommend watching some poses/smile tips on youtube just to prepare yourself. Perhaps smile in front of the mirror and make sure to know your good side before doing the shoot.) Our 2nd location was at the beach and BOY, WAS IT RAINING CATS AND DOGS!!! We asked Justin if it was OK for him to continue as we don't want him nor Joon to get sick and he said that it was fine to continue. My fiance was also worried that we may not get good shots with the rain and bad lighting but I was confident that Justin would still be able to capture artistic shots. And I was right! Joon also captured beautiful shots as well! Also, it's worth mentioning that Justin replies promptly! He's actually one of my favorite vendors so far due to his quick and easy communication. We chose Justin because of his extreme familiarity with our wedding venue (The Vintage Rose in Orange), his ability to communicate with my family members who have a language barrier, and because of his photography style. It took me awhile to write this review because I don't like to write anything negative unless I have given it some serious thought. Our wedding was on August 13, 2023. With all of the great reviews I didn't think we would have any issues. Everything at our wedding was amazing but the photography turned out to be the worst. I think there were about 10 photos out of 100's that turned out to be usable, which is a bummer because it's the one day when photos should have been the best. They were so bad we didn't post any of them on any social platforms. The photos that family and friends took were awesome and that is basically what we've used for everything. We really enjoyed having Justin as our photographer for our wedding in Orange County! He was affordable, personable, always very quick to respond, and clearly dedicated to his work. We've been to many weddings now and in comparison to other photographers, Justin was always working 110% throughout the whole day to capture every detail, we especially loved his candids. He and his second photographer Joon were so sweet and adapted well to incorporate our dog in our photos! Justin brought his expertise when it came to unique photo shots and excelled in nighttime lighting. He was even gracious enough to re-edit some photos to better suit our liking. We did not have a videographer and Justin kindly shared the videos he recorded. From the start, it was clear that we could trust Justin to do his job well. I can't say enough about how amazing Justin Kim and his assistant Andrew is! I reached out to Justin as a preferred vendor through my wedding venue, and I ended up doing both my engagement photoshoot and my wedding photos with Justin this year. He is an absolute gem, so professional and so responsive to all of my messages, no matter the time of day, and he's always friendly and accommodating. His work is worth every penny and more. He even did some extra editing of my photos that I didn't think was included in my package for the wedding. On the day of our wedding, he took off so much responsibility and stress from our shoulders by directing our guests and wedding party (and us) where we needed to be, so we could just enjoy the moment as much as we could.
