This is a wonderful place for little ones to play! My 1.5-year-old son absolutely loves coming here, and as a mother, I really appreciate the thoughtful and engaging style of play they encourage. The environment is clean, safe, and perfect for active toddlers. The complimentary coffee and water are such a nice touch--perfect for parents to relax while the kids have fun! I highly recommend this spot to all moms, dads, and caregivers looking for a great playtime experience. Just remember to bring socks since it's a shoe-free zone, which is another detail I love about this place. We'll definitely be back!

We love coming to playlab! We've been coming since my son was 1 and he will be 2 in a few months. It's easy for him to have solo play here where I can sit back and enjoy the complementary tea which is a much needed break for me. We also play together :) I've been able to watch his coordination and tactile skills grow here. He gets so excited when we pull up. Other families are always very friendly and there is a great staff.

I love coming here with my son whenever we can! We live in DTLA and PlayLab is in the perfect area to be a nice, peaceful break from Downtown life. He loves getting a balloon each time we come. I've gone to a lot of indoor/outdoor play places but this one has the most community feel. It's a much place for children to play and for adults to connect.

We had our daughter's 2nd birthday party here. What a great venue! They make it so easy, with options to add on just about anything- plates, silverware, balloons, coolers, ice. They even ordered the pizza for us. All we had to show up with was ourselves. Jason, the owner, has a great eye and can make any color scheme and/or balloon decor option work for your needs. All of our guests had fun playing both inside and outside. Aside from hosting a party, we love coming here for open play! The pricing is so reasonable compared to other places, and it is much cleaner and designed for real play, not just overstimulation. Everytime we pop in, my daughter makes a new friend. It is a great spot with a focus on community building, evident in all of their programming. We really love PlayLab!

Simply amazing place to hold an event for your young one... The owner was super helpful super nice... I was hired to set up Balloons. He was so accommodating and very, very professional. I recommend this to everybody.

Perfect for 2 year old boy! I went there 10am on a weekday and it was not crowded at all. Exactly same as photos and definitely go there again. FYI, Three parking spaces for visitors and the rest should be on a street parking.

I liked how access was through ramps or single steps. Little birthday guests seemed to enjoy the deck sandpit the most. My immediate family no longer has small children, but we enjoyed the space this weekend (Keurig kept us on location instead of leaving for the coffee shop across the street). The party rental was for about three or four hours. There were different kinds of seating so you weren't sore or standing around.

Our kids ages 2 to 7 all had a great time! There was so much to do, from walking through the river and doing water play, to sand play in the pretend lake, to crafts (that we didn't have time for), to climbing equipment, and building/engineering/physics activities. Plenty of things to do both indoor and outdoor. The physics section is great for older kids too, even middle school (but the rest of the museum is definitely geared to elementary).

The museum is both indoors and outdoors. There's several activities that are geared towards older kids such as sitting on seat and self-pull to go up. Or a tug a war type thing. The other outdoor activities are for all ages, they have areas where you can bang on stuff to hear the sounds. There's an indoor which I feel the younger ones loves such as the train table or the parachute. Overall there's activities for all ages. There was even a spot if someone wants to read and do storytime. Fun overall. It can get pricey. I'm not big on places charging adults as it truly is more for the kids.

And honestly, best decision. The second we walked in, she just froze. Then started running around, pointing at everything like she owned the place. The bouncy house and slide combo had her completely gone. I literally sat down, opened my laptop, and got two hours of actual work done, with real WiFi. I mean, come on. You could easily spend the entire day here. There are comfortable couches to lounge on, great picnic tables with high chairs, and you can bring whatever food you want, which is such a game-changer. No overpriced snack bar guilt. Just pack what you need and stay as long as you want. And the music is actually great, not just kids music, real music that the adults can enjoy too. It makes such a difference. We loved it so much that when her birthday came around, it was a no-brainer. She's really into Mario Brothers right now, so we went all in on the theme, and the decorations were amazing. Like genuinely impressive. But what I remember most is that I did nothing. The staff handled everything, and they were so warm about the whole thing, not in a corporate way, just real. Other reviewers say the same thing, and they're not exaggerating. For anyone who has ever stress-spiraled while planning a kids party, trust me on this one. What I wasn't expecting was how much I'd love the space itself. I'm kind of an architecture nerd, and this building is gorgeous, old, historic, with these incredible vaulted ceilings. It doesn't feel like a typical kids gym at all. Apparently, it's been used as a filming location for both Shameless and The Office, and honestly, that tracks completely. It has that kind of soul to it. The neighborhood is great, too. Amazing restaurants and coffee shops right outside. We grabbed coffee, wandered through some shops, and came back. The whole day just flowed. Oh, and don't forget to bring socks for the adults. There's plenty of street parking, so that part is easy. It's the kind of place where you leave feeling like you both got something out of the day. That's not easy to find. If you haven't been yet, go. You'll wonder why it took you so long.

To top it all off, they were playing some seriously cool music, which made hanging out there fun for me too instead of the usual annoying Disney tunes on loop. We'll definitely be back, it's a total lifesaver for burning off some serious toddler energy!

For my daughter and me, the total came to just under $144. They mentioned some fun accessories available on-site, which piqued our curiosity. Finding the venue was straightforward, although the parking situation was a bit tight. Fortunately, we arrived right on time and managed to snag a spot. The woman who greeted us was polite but seemed to lack the energy and enthusiasm I expected, especially given the price we were paying. I had envisioned a vibrant atmosphere based on their photos and social media presence. As we settled in, a couple arrived, and my daughter, who has sensory sensitivities, expressed her preference to sit at a separate table. Initially, the host was a bit hesitant to accommodate us, even though the space was empty. Eventually, we got started, but I noticed the assistant pretty much took over my daughter's craft instead of guiding her through the process. My daughter is quite capable, so it felt a bit off to have someone do it for her. However, I didn't want to make a fuss and let it slide. As I was finishing up, the host tried to help reset my supplies but didn't consider that I'm left-handed, making it trickier for me to wrap things up. After a bit of chatting with the host, I used some leftover string to add a mouth line between the whiskers to my plushy, only to be told that it went against the rules due to copyright issues. I found it ironic, given their message about unleashing creativity all over the walls! Our surprise didn't stop there. Adding even a small bow to our plushies came with a shocking additional $30 fee! My daughter had her heart set on a different accessory but was told mixing and matching wasn't allowed, which seemed odd when we were paying for the specific items. The host was nice enough, but the experience just didn't match the excessive price. I felt like there were some unwelcome assumptions made, which added to my disappointment. In the end, we spent $174 on an experience that left us feeling let down. While we both loved having a plushy as a memento from our road trip, the difference between what we'd seen online and what we experienced was stark. If the price had been about half of what we paid, we might have walked away feeling satisfied, but for that amount, I would rate it no more than three stars.

Visit August 2026…read more This was a super fun and cute visit. Attended the birthday for my cousin's 1-year old boy. My cousin had strong happy memories of visiting Bob Baker Marionette Theater when she was young so ta-dah! Tbh, I had never heard of this place. Tbh, I was very curious how this generation of young kids, who are raised with cell phones and tablets would be engaged in this live puppet based presentation. I mean, I recall watching marionettes live at fairs and even on tv when I was a kid (Thunderbirds anybody?) but I was born in the 70's. BBMT pulled it off! The show, centered around a train journey, kept at least 30 kids (ranging from 1 to at least 10 years) laughing, clapping, "oohing" and "aahing". No crying or kids having to be entertained by their parents' cell phone because they had tuned out. The puppeteers did a fantastic job. You can tell they put in a large amount of work. Each scene was a super fast transition. They definitely got their exercise. Each song was catchy. There was a live organist as a pre-show as the theater filled up. Total nostalgia songs. Started tearing up when he broke out "Rainbow Connection." Theater staff were super welcoming and patient with the kids.
