I've lived here for 8 months now. I liked the idea of renting in a condo building. The location is great, my unit is beautiful and the owner is an individual investor and very easy to deal with. Unfortunately, as a renter, there was key information that was not disclosed when I signed the lease...
One, the "receiving room" is actually a Dry Cleaners in the basement of the building. All packages are delivered directly to the Dry Cleaners-- it's not possible to get a package delivered to your unit. The Dry Cleaner is very disorganized and I've had two occasions where I was not notified of deliveries because the Dry Cleaner did not properly track them and they were "lost" for a period of days. The owner of the Dry Cleaner argumentative and quite unpleasant to deal with. As for front desk deliveries, the concierge/security desk only accepts deliveries of flowers and food-- good luck if you want to have anything else delivered and you're not home.
The second issue is the laundry room. While it's bright and usually well maintained, getting a dryer on Sunday nights is a challenge. I recently had an issue with the laundry card machine --I called 2 phone numbers and left messages, but the bottom line is that I'm only home on weekends and was unable to do laundry for 2 weeks. Not acceptable.
Lastly, the office is not open on weekends, so if you travel during the week, you're out of luck if you have a problem, assuming they might do something about it. The Management Office passes the buck, saying that both the Receiving Room and Laundry are run by outside companies and they are not responsible.
For a downtown property, this is not what I expected. I asked the right questions during the rental process but was not given the whole picture. If these issues are important to you, let the buyer/renter beware. read more
