To be honest, I didn't like this location, so I didn't come here often because it wasn't a very lovely atmosphere, especially at night, and I didn't feel safe there. However, after visiting here for the first time in a while, the theater has improved a bit recently, and I got a better impression. It's useful when you want to avoid crowds. Also, parking is not an issue once you have found the best spot for you, which is convenient and close to the movie theater, because there are public parking and street parking. I wish they had a little more food and drink selection. Alternatively, if they can't offer a wide selection of food, it would be good if they allowed guests to bring their own drinks and food (I'm not sure if it's allowed to bring in food, since most movie theaters don't allow it). If you don't need drinks or snacks, and just want to watch movies, and then this theater is fine. read more

Haven't been to this theater in a few years and went back to watch a movie that was only available there. It has gone down hill so much. The bathroom was dirty and as a person who used to work at a theater, on an extremely slow day, there is no reason for the bathroom to be grossly messy, the screening room was dirty with stain covered sets. The guy at the podium was very kind and helpful but the girl at concessions had a an attitude. This will be the last time I will be watching a movie here. read more

It just is what it is. Has a great historical and local feel. These days if you live in Oxnard you go to the Collection to watch a movie at Cinemark (it's the cool thing to do). I like going there but living in southwest Oxnard, it's a little far (ya ya I'm just trying to save gas). I've only moved back to Oxnard a few years ago so I'm still getting use to all the new things around the town. So when I heard of a local theater in downtown Oxnard and closer to me, I had to check it out! I was pleasantly surprised. They offer the MX4D seating which is like watching a movie with 4d effects and as a motion simulator. I love that stuff so I had to try it out. All I can say was that I was blown away (but I do understand it's not for everybody). Plus I went on opening day for the new Antman movie and it wasn't crowded at all. You go to the Collection and it gets pretty crowded on an opening night. I also thought the price for the MX4D was great, especially since you get more experience than Cinemark with their more expensive 3DXD. I think I may have found my go to spot to watch movies in Oxnard. If you live in Oxnard and haven't watched a movie here, I would definitely recommend it. read more

Went here last night for a date night. Upon arrival we were informed that their internet was down and they were only accepting cash. Totally not their fault but their lack of communication skills was unbelievable. The manager could barely get off his cell phone to talk to us. Offered zero empathy or apology for the inconvenience. This is a nice place to take in a movie. They don't have the big comfy seats that recline, nor do they reserve your actual seat when you buy your ticket. However, they do charge a little less than most of those types of other theaters. The place is neat, clean and well maintained. They also have stadium style seating, so you don't have to worry about some tall guy sitting down right in front of you and completely obstructing your view of the screen. Also, the seats do rock. Street parking in downtown Oxnard is usually not a problem, so that's another big plus. read more

the discount days here are great, but the customer service needs a ton of work. i understand this is a smaller theater but seeing the state of the place on a busy night is not for the weak. everything, and i mean EVERYTHING was filthy, and to top it off there weren't even paper products stocked anywhere to clean.. no toilet paper, no hand towels, no napkins, nothing. my mother and i waited in a fifteen minute line (if you can even call it that) for concessions and after we paid for our drinks and hot dogs, the cashier walked away, meanwhile at another register some folks also got a hot dog and were given it immediately even though they hadn't even paid for it-- we could clearly see the till was open and their transaction was not processed while we had been sitting there for minutes already. my mother even called out to that cashier that we paid already for those three and the employee just shot us a glance and then handed it over to them anyways. when our cashier finally came back we saw him talking with the other guy and obviously you can't just take away someone's food, so we were left with only two hot dogs for the three of us. no apology or refund was offered until the manager stepped in, who didn't offer a refund either, we had to ask because we were not waiting the supposed 40 minutes it takes to make a hot dog when we were already missing our movie by standing in that hellish line. then they tried to send us off without our drinks or the popcorn we paid for (why were neither made in the entire time we were just standing there??) the boy who "served" us was just rude all around, hardly spoke the whole time except to curse at us under his breath. can't help but wonder if there was some prejudice going on as my folks were the only ones in that entire lobby using mobility devices. it's difficult to have outings with them as it requires a lot of care from those around us and this incident just spoiled our night out. read more

What an experience! My family and I came to watch Star Wars: The Last Jedi on Christmas Eve and we really enjoyed it. I mean, not because it was Star Wars, but because it was Star Wars in MX4D! Not to mention we had the entire theater to ourselves. In short, it was like riding Star Tours at Disneyland... For two and a half hours! MX4D IS the future of movie watching! With MX4D, I was able to feel the action that was taking place on screen. If you thought the lightsaber duel between Kylo Ren and Rey was intense, imagine going through every motion while watching it happen! The theatre seats move in sync with the movie action and there are even special effects to accompany the motions. Though the movements are not entirely harsh, I wouldn't recommend watching a movie in MX4D if you suffer from motion sickness. The overall theater itself is pretty basic. The lobby could definitely use a good mop down because the floors were looking a bit dirty. I would come here again for the MX4D experience. It's completely worth it! read more

Before the pandemic, this was our go-to movie theater because we want to support local. We brought our kids to see a movie for the first time in a long time and bought popcorn. When I asked for a box or something to use to share our popcorn, girl said unfortunately they no longer stock boxes. She sold me an empty paper popcorn bag for $6.75, because "unfortunately you'll have to pay full price" even though the bag was empty. She told me I'm welcome to bring my own container from home next time. For me, there won't be a next time. We had not bn to movies in a long time. They had no hotdogs ready No jalapeños for the nachos and soda had only the carbonation. Had to return the drink. After I was already in my seat I then 25 min later returned for hotdogs no hotdogs. The refill of popcorn is in the same paper bag you used the first time. My bag was all crumbled . They filled it up. Yet, butter dripping down the bag. If I would of know I would have told my kid not crumble it to be nice to it. The mens bathroom was a mess. The trash cans had no room to throw out trash in them. During the movie people taking pictures , babies crying, some guy recording! No staff around in our area . I was yelled at by the manager Paolo Constantino to leave the movie theater, meanwhile other patrons in the facility were free walk and purchase items in the lobby without their masks. I rarely go to this theater and yesterday reminded me why I choose not to. The concession stand was dirty and there customer service is so slow. You're on a time limit when you're going to watch a movie. It's much appreciated when you can walk in and get your goodies pretty quickly especially if there isn't a line. I mean it took about 10 mins to get 2 drinks, 1 popcorn and 2 hot dogs. And my hotdog bun was hard as a rock. So I needed to wait another 5 mins because they had to get more from the back. It was pretty ridiculous. I'm a patient person but it's a Saturday. I feel the theater should be better prepared for more customers. And the theater itself just felt dirty. All digital projection and awesome sound has catapulted this theater to a whole new level, and I bet not many of you know this. This theater has been through the ringer over the years. So many people have criticized it for many reasons, some justified, and others based on a belief that Downtown Oxnard has nothing special to offer. Not so. Not anymore. I've been attending this theater since it fist opened its doors to the public. I was one of the first in line at the grand opening. The excitement of a first rate movie theater so close to my home was a movie lovers dream. But after a few screenings, my disappointment turned to the marginal quality of the sound, the low brightness of the picture, and over-salted popcorn. Fast forward to today and this theater is now at the top of my list. All 14 screens are now equipped with Sony 4K digital projectors, the audio is now crystal clear and booming in all the right places, and the level of brightness in the picture makes the color pop and is free of any film scratches or jumps (the advantage of digital projection). No IMAX here, but their 3D screenings make up for it. They no longer use the bulky and heavy 3D glasses, instead they've switched to the lighter plastic frames that offer better clarity and are easy on the eyes. As for the digital projection, film enthusiasts will continue to debate the film versus digital projection argument, but don't let that discourage you from wrapping your arms around this technology. The best thing about digital projection is that no matter when you decide to watch your movie, the quality is pristine whether you see it on it's opening weekend, or wait weeks down the line. The quality of service by the theater's staff is professional and polite. They do a good job of making sure people don't interrupt the movie going experience with loud talking or noise. They do this by checking in at least twice, sometimes three times, into each theater. They do this seamlessly and quietly on the side as you watch your movie. The bathrooms are clean, the lobby is big and comfortable and they do a nice job of decorating the walls with posters and stands of upcoming releases. Popcorn and snacks may be somewhat pricy, but the same goes for every other theater in the country. Trust me, prices are high everywhere you go. With theaters getting more and more fancy, my only complaint with Plaza 14 Cinemas is that it needs to offer a better selection of snacks, or at the very least some flavored toppings for the popcorn. And by the way, the salt monkeys have limited their contribution to the popcorn. But if you get a bag that burns your lips 5 minutes into the previews, just ask for a refund or a new batch and their staff will gladly help you out. Spread the word because not many people know that Plaza 14 Cinemas is now fully digital. Side note...management did inform me that they held on to one 35 mm film projector that is used during their foreign film series. You see, the theater does offer something for everyone. read more

Just beware that if you go in the afternoon or at night, it get pretty crowded. I wished it had the reclinable seats like the Roxy in Camarillo since Oxnard it's closer for me. Concession stuff comparable to other theaters. Employees are nice, although not nice enough to let me sneak in my Starbucks inside, haha Starbucks, ice cream store, subway and a couple of other food choices located just outside the theater. You can also walk your food down around the gazebo in the park... Just be careful with the vagrants that are hanging in there. This is my go to theatre in Oxnard. I like the how the surrounding area and business has improved aesthetically. The ambiance of downtown Oxnard exudes a little more class...Or maybe it's just the Starbucks? Anyways, I like everything about this theatre from the cleanliness of the concessions, theaters, lavatories, the movie staff, the security guards, and it's proximity to some good restaurants. I never experienced a movie malfunction and movie refund which tells me this place is professional managed. I understand having someone in training and having to coach them in the moment. However my husband and I were being subjected to pay an extra fee for two cups of soda because the cashier-in-training grabbed the larger size cup and filled it with our desired sodas. Someone stopped her and said "since they are getting the larger soda, you have to press this button to charge them." I interrupted by saying "oh, we didn't order it, that's what she grabbed. We shouldn't have to pay anything extra, if it was a mistake." The person trying to help out tried to explain to me what was happening, to which I replied "I understand but how is it my fault that she made the mistake and why are you trying to charge me." I received this response "it's only $0.50, you are arguing over 50 cents." And she proceeded to take the large cups and pour the soda into smaller cups! My husband and I laughed as how ridiculous this scene was, since we both are retail managers and clearly Plaza Cinemas doesn't train their employees on how to take care of their customers. They made me feel like I was being cheap when in reality the coaching/training could have been done on the side after we were taken care of. What a waste of cups, soda and time. read more

I've been to this theater several times because it is close to where I live, but today I forgot my mask went had to ask for one. They tried to charge me a dollar for a .10 cent mask. I said no thanks and went across to Starbucks who gave me one for free. We are in the middle of a pandemic and they are trying to profit from it. I was disgusted. As far as I'm concerned, if you need to give out a mask to your customers so they can spend money in your store, that's the cost of doing business, and this is the first business that I've walked into that ask for money for a mask so I could enter their establishment.
