Excited to share VCBs 27th Annual Nutcracker at the Oxnard PACC... the facility is a generous size although the center could use a little upkeep! Clearing of the grounds with leaves, palm fronds outside etc... maybe a coat of paint inside the lobby and theatre?... also we've NEVER experienced a production that allowed ANY food Or especially Drinks inside the center during a performance?!! That was quite distracting as people kept coming and going during making it difficult to Fully enjoy the show! Also personal recordings of the show (that a lady kept doing With her FLASH on!!!) was REALLY super frustrating as 'they' were already 'professionally' recording it anyways?!! Otherwise the SLO Orchestra did a FABULOUS job accompanying all of VCBs beautiful and talented dancers!! Hopefully next year there will be less 'commotion' so we can enjoy this once in a year production without sooo many disruptions!! read more

I had a great time at Oxnard performing arts center seeing which one's pink ( Floyd tribute) I went camping the day prior and left my wallet at the campsite. Went here tonight to see Louis CK. Although his performance was amazing, as always, as were his opening acts, the staff here is horrible (with exception of security check in). I sat directly behind a group of rowdy guys that smoked the entire time throughout the show and the staff did nothing. Completely inconsiderate. I generally don't mind smoking, but do it outdoors not at an indoor venue with little to no proper ventilation. Ruined the entire show. Also, if you're one of those people who are strict about Covid regulations (which I am not so much), they absolutely do not enforce whatsoever. They didn't check vaccination status and no one wore masks. There was also not a single employee assisting people find their seats. You can enter the venue and watch the show for free if you find an unoccupied seat. Ridiculous. No one checked our tickets. They also tell you no cell phones allowed during the show. BS....no one enforced it. Parking is free, but very poorly lit and impossible to see anything. They sell alcohol, food, and snacks. OPAC offers venues rooms for events or parties and I had a surprise birthday party in 2022. It was super prompt response and clear and affordable details to rent the the room I loved that part of my experience the downfall is the canyon place within the OPAC holds the liquor license so you need to hire them for bartending service the party was from 7pm-11 or 11:30 pm guests arrived at 6:30 and bar was set up and serving as they arrived which was great but they were packed up and gone by 9pm! So guests got to go to the bar from 6:30-9 and we were there from 9-11:30 with no bar tender no where in the paperwork email did it say they pack up and leave early we were behaved and the bartender gave no explanation so for $350 I expect the bar tender to stay the duration of my event! Very upset at that for that I am cautious when recommending this venue which is super upsetting because OPAC part of the deal was a great experience read more

We had a Good Time watching these young performers. The sets were done up very nice. Enjoyed the big screen, nice added touch. Thank you O'My Theater well done!! The Performing Arts Center was a perfect place for this performance. Large parking area, good size auditorium and clean restrooms. Would love to see other venues perform here. Save the PAC! I've been here now twice for 2 totally different types of music concerts. I'm giving this only 3 stars because the first concert we saw here was to see Malo & Tierra - great bands but the acoustics and sound were horrible for full bands as loud as these bands were. The sound was muddy, boomy, echoey and completely distorted the entire night, sounding like we were in a high school gymnasium. Very disappointing. We said we'd never be back. However, then we learned Australian guitarist Tommy Emmanuel was going to play here and knowing he was basically an acoustic one-man show, we figured it might be safe to try attending another concert here. This time it all sounded amazing with excellent sound and acoustics! Maybe there was just a way better sound man for this concert. We'll go back for similar music but probably not again for large, loud & amplified bands. We'll drive to the Canyon Club in Agoura for those. read more

My husband and I attended Beatles vs Stones last night. The anticipation was great but unfortunately missed the mark when it came to sound. The musicians drowned out the vocals which was disappointing. I don't know if the venue itself has bad acoustics or it was just plain too loud for this small indoor venue. 4 stars because we love you OPAC, the performers were 3 stars but this one was a miss for us due to sound quality , 2 stars. read more

We came by for the Jeff Dunham comedy show and were astounded by the crowds! Of course, we know Jeff attracts thousands of people, but couldn't imagine the blocks and blocks of parked cars were all for him at a theatre meant for him . . . until we entered the performing arts area and heard security directing people into three different areas depending on what even you were attending . . seriously? What genius plans 2 other events the same night as a Jeff Dunham show? It was more evident when we left the show and the entire parking lot was empty before half the theatre even got to their cars. The acoustics and spun were also terrible in the theatre, seems nobody could control the volume, and even Jeff had to make multiple announcements to the sound and other crews to have them turn up/down lights, sound, screens, etc. read more

Awful experience. Had front row seats in right pit. About 15 minutes before the show, our entire section was jammed with people from other seats. Security was a joke. 1 guy on each end next to the pit looking at their phone or just standing there with folded arms. The venue was at best 1/4 filled, so it wasn't like there was a massive crowd to deal with. It got so crowded in the pit because everyone was leaving their seats and coming forward. It started to get confrontational. About 20 minutes into the headliners set, we went back 15 rows and watched the show. Hey A-holes who run this place, if you are going to have pit seats, then have your Security clear the aisles every 10 minutes to get people back to their seats. This is how professional venues operate to respect the ticketholders. But not this place, no need to pay for a front row seat. If you ever have the misfortune of going to this place, buy tix in the back row and help yourself to any seat in the place. Have been going to shows for over 40 years and this place was one of the worst ever. I want my money back!!!! read more

I paid $130 to attend a mariachi festival and their sound equipment was awful. Mics were dead most of the concert and their sound engineer mismanaged the event. The mariachi would've been better served to sing without equipment. Additionally their speakers looked like someone pulled out DJ equipment for a house party and put it on the stage. Have some vision and do better. High schools have better sound equipment. No artist should perform here and I'll be asking for my money back read more

Attended George Lopez show on 11/26. Me and my group were ready with our masks and vaccination cards. They didn't ask for proof of vaccine and the girl sitting next to me without a mask on, proudly let me know, she was not vaccinated. With people that are ill, have been ill and all the death and the new Omicron variant spreading, you would think, a proof of vaccination would be required. Went to a Dodger game last month and had to show proof of vaccination. Why doesn't this venue require it? Will not recommend this venue and no one in my group is returning. It's too bad they're not taking the health and welfare of the people attending seriously. read more

The facilities are outdated (50 years old). When visiting here, you can expect to see relatively clean, but dated facilities, seating, equipment, etc. Personally, I would much rather see performances where the ambience is better and the facilities are more modern. I presume that the Center is not booked often, because there are several "free family movie" showings throughout the year -- all or most that cater to children. The acts that do perform are not necessarily the most popular or well known to the public. Nevertheless, they can and do provide entertainment opportunities to the residents. Was here to attend a dance recital on Sunday night. This is a smaller, older venue. The seats are large and comfortable so you don't feel like you are crammed in the theater. You get a nice view of the stage from all of the seats as long as a super tall person doesn't sit in front of you. It is an older place so it is not as fancy as some of the other theaters but it is very clean and well kept. Overall, I like this venue but it is a little difficult to get too, situated in downtown Oxnard and not close to the freeway. read more

I haven't been to this venue since a school field trip 20 years ago, needless to say not a lot has changed. I recently attended the Segura comedy show at this venue was excited since I spent quite a bit of $$$ to get 2nd row seats. Unfortunately, the seats still appeared to be of the same layout, material, and size that I remember from my childhood. I am a large guy, 6'5", 275, but even the worst middle seat I've ever had on an airplane could not compare to the utter discomfort I felt the entire 2hrs during this show. I'd like to be able to comment as to the cleanliness of the restrooms, but quite frankly I never left my seat as had I gotten up, I would have simply gone straight home. Segura was GREAT, but this had to be the worst 2 hours of my life in quite a while. Pro Tip - if you MUST go to a show at this venue, pay the extra/extra for FRONT row where you have all the legroom one could need. read more

Well where should I begin. I have been attending the oxnard performing arts center for years going to expos and other cool attractions there. I witnessed something I will never forget recently. Outside behind the center surrounded by a fenced in area there is the sketchiest parking lot I have ever seen. Filled with pot holes ankle deep in some areas and broken asphalt chips scattered all around. For years this has been the case. To get in from the back way is literally impossible for some people. Especially people who are elderly and in wheelchairs & walkers. At nighttime there is even a higher risk of falling due to these circumstances. I urge the city to please look at this problem. I thought the city of oxnard motto is: "The City that Cares" apparently not!!! read more

One star is a generous gift! I wish someone, ANYONE from OPAC would have mentioned in all of the articles and promos that the "World Premier" of Bram Stoker's Dracula on Sept 30 was not a traditional stage play but instead actors speaking into microphones. I brought 4 couples at $100 per couple to see this performance and we left utterly disappointed. We walked out as soon as we realized we were not going to see a play. I called the office several times asking who I can speak to about a refund. I got a letter saying they have a NO REFUND POLICY. If you are considering attending a performance here, I would be very careful before booking tickets. My family, friends and I will not be returning in the future. I guess even when the Oxnard Performing Arts Center falsely promotes an event so that many people spend $50 on a ticket to see a production that turns out to be something else entirely, they still stick to their NO REFUNDS POLICY. It's called The Old Bait & Switch! The OPAC Board of Directors voted on it and decided not to refund all the people who complained and requested refunds for the ticket to the "World Premier" of Bram Stoker's Dracula on September 30. I was told by a couple of people in the office at OPAC that there were MANY/SEVERAL etc. people upset by being made to believe we were purchasing a ticket to see a live stage play when in actuality the event was a live radio recording performed in front of the audience. Needless to say, I will not be supporting OPAC in the future if this is the business they choose to conduct and how they chose to treat the local community. Nice going. OPAC is trying to revitalize this venue? You will need local support to make that happen. You don't have mine. Thank you to the Board of Directors for voting NOT to refund all of the patrons who were tricked into purchasing a ticket to Bram Stoker's Dracula expecting to see a live stage play. I'm sure none of the local community who purchased a ticket to this this falsely advertised event really needed that $50 per ticket for anything else anyways. read more

Nice to bring talent to our county. Overall don't like where this place is situated. Just went yesterday and seen security neglecting a homeless man on their property. He wax asking for help and the security would not help just tell him to leave. The other people around finally came to give this Guy up and out. Them once we where inside rjs house manager would not let is exit back to our car even thought the show had yet started. For my 1st time here not the best experience. We are all human and deserve to be treated equally, no matter the kind of show. Would prefer to go other places than here. read more

I only picked one star because zero stars wasn't an option. I purchased tickets to Bram Stoker's Dracula, which by all advertisements, articles and posts, was made to sound like a stage play. When we arrived we found that it was a a reading for radio, performed in front of a live audience. My group along with several others, walked out. We were misled into believing we were buying tickets to a play. There were enough tickets buyers who complained and asked for refunds that it warranted the OPAC board of directors to have a meeting about how to handle the complaints. In their poor judgement, they decided to do nothing and stand by their no refund policy. As a huge supporter of local theater, I was excited to have OPAC as another venue so close to home. Unfortunately, if OPAC's way of doing business is to deceive ticket buyers and then keep their money, after numerous complaints, then I, and my large group of theater loving friends, will be boycotting this venue forever in the future. It's a shame to have a potentially great venue ruined by a handful of greedy board members. Shame on you read more
