God, Why didn't I take my own advice? In my last review I told you how poorly the staff treated me and how bad of an experience I had. For some reason, almost 2 years later, I decided to try it one more time. I went to see One for the Money with my wife. We went in and purchased concessions and then went and found a seat, and that is where it really started going wrong. There were 3 women in the front row talking loudly during the previews, but hey it is only the previews. Once the movie started I leaned over and said " The movie has started, can you please keep quiet?" One woman responded by standing up and yelling F you mother F'er and for 3 to 4 minutes continues to threaten physical violence. So like reasonable people we left the theater and asked to speak to a manger. The manager of the theater says he is "Neutral" and cannot do anything about people talking, yelling or threatening physical violence and if I didn't like it I could call the police. And that is what I did. I had to call the police out there to get the theater to refund me the entry price to the theater after some crazy woman said she wanted to start a fight a F' me up. However they would not refund the price of the concessions. I don't know about you but I don't normally feel good about pay $11 for popcorn and a soda when I am not going to see a movie, and since I didn't get to see it why would I want $11 popcorn and soda? I really cannot believe that they will not do anything in situations like this. Don't go see a movie here, you might get in a fight with a crazy person and they won't even ask them to leave the theater, and they will try and tell you that you don't deserve a refund. Great movie theater. $5 Tuesday and Sunday special. A lot of younger people come here. It's usually pretty packed. The theater is decent, a bit messy at times. The chairs are ok and the screen is good. The bathrooms are clean. Snacks are expensive as expected lol they have a lot of young employees with a lot of energy which is nice to see. Don't prepay for online tickets. You will pay an extra fee per ticket and still have to stand in the ticket line. There is a kiosk outside for processing but it doesn't work, even if you could read the screen (you can't). The theater is old and the screens are small. Asked manager to credit it us back the $1.00 per ticket processing fee and they refused. You can't pre-select your seats with online pre-pay, so don't bother. Better to go to much nicer theater at the Collection, Century Riverpark 16. read more

I'm really not into the the gimmicks of movie theaters, I just really want a place that is in a good location that shows the movie that I want to watch. I hardly ever get any junk food, so this review is pretty straightforward. So the good things about this theater. Its in downtown Oxnard, which means its easy to access and close enough to me. It also means it generates foot traffic in downtown so even further plus points for that. I'm glad it was build here, targeting the city of Oxnard and not near the freeway in an attempt to lure people from Ventura (which would also mean that it would be very far from my house). The seating is also superb. I didn't really think about it but I noticed it after going to the ventura downtown theater and noticing their terrible seating. If somebody tall would have sat in front of me it could have been a bad experience. The theater is clean and the area easy on the eyes. Yes there's a bunch of teenagers, but they gotta go somewhere. Also they don't show movies that are in selected theaters (like Biutiful for example, had to go to Ventura for that). They do have foreign film Monday but I have not checked it out. All in all a nice centrally located theater that fills my movie needs. read more

Matinee prices are 6 bucks, comfortable seating and never really packed unless it's a major tween movie premiere weekend. Good location and parking usually isn't an issue unless there's a festival going on. Plus Cold Stone, Starbucks, Subway, and China Square are literally right there for whatever you're hungry for, as well as the Italian spot and 5th Street Steak and Seafood on the opposite end of the square. super convenient. Downside is it's part of the SR entertainment group, so if you get there before the previews you have to watch the way cheesy "bee-fore the movie.com" ads, which are really bad. read more

I live in Oxnard and like to spend my hard earned dollars here. So when I heard about the Plaza 14's $5.00 Tuesday movie special I decided to take advantage. Grabbed a meal at the Califonia Slice (Pizza) very good, caught a newly released movie for 5 bucks. The Theater was clean and staff was on point. Crowd was well behaved. grabbed a night cap and was home by 1030. Thanks Plaza 14 for a great night out. I plan to pay you and the other local businesses a return Tuesday night visit. read more

This cinemas is in downtown Oxnard the area is well taking care of,coldstone and subway on the side and starbucks in the front,the theater; the theater was really clean outside as well as inside (the first showing no left over trashs and the smell was great, there is about 6 more restaurants in the area under 0.3 miles, 2 more under 0.9 miles if you want to save some money go Matinee 2 for $13.60 and if you bring your own food in BIG saving ;) read more

I was on the 101 freeway driving home from work in Santa Barbara to LA. The traffic was terrible, so I decided to pull over to the nearest town and see a movie as the traffic dies down. Plaza Cinemas 14 seemed the closest to where I was, so I went there smack in the middle of downtown Oxnard. Now downtown Oxnard is kind of a dump (no offense), but it seemed safe enough to park on the street. I walked up to the cashier and saw Guardians Of The Galaxy about to play in 5 minutes, so I got a ticket and went inside. No lines. Hardly any people and this was a Friday night. Opening night to one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer. No crowd. Walked in. Found a seat. Enjoyed myself. I noticed more security guards at this theater than most others I've been to, but I guess that means its safer. After the film was over I was happy to see that my car was not broken into and I quickly jumped back on the 101 and headed home. Would I come back here again? Probably not, but it was better than being stuck in traffic. read more

So we decided to find a movie theater in the Oxnard area due to the overwhelming traffic on the 101 fwy. We happened to find this theater on my iphone and decided to check it out because they had a 5:50pm showing on INCEPTION. Perfect! Just enough time to kill traffic. Upon arriving at the theater, the area surrounding it was pleasantly nice. Parking right across the street in a public lot. If there's signs telling you to lock your vehicle, that's a good sign already telling you what kind of neighborhood you're in. Once at the box office, we asked for the 5:50 showing and to our surprise, the box office employee told us there was no showing at that time and that the next one was at 8:10pm. There was nothing posted outside or even on their recording warning people that they were not showing at 5:50pm time. The box office employee didn't even give a reason why they weren't showing it at that time. It felt like they didn't want to sell us the tickets or something. That bad experience left a mark. Downtown Oxnard's MAIN ATTRACTION!!! I appreciate the significance of having a movie complex in my hometown. It has definitely transformed Oxnard's downtown into a place of interest & attracts customers to local businesses. There is a sense of safety now that wasn't here before Plaza Cinemas was built. As for the theaters itself, our family has always had a pleasant experience here. The staff is friendly and helpful. Their popcorn has NEVER been salty. (I hate buying expensive popcorn that sucks you dry! Happens too often in other cinemas. Not here though!) The theaters are clean, appropriately lit when its supposed to be, and seating arrangements allow for easy passage through. Booster seats are available for the little ones, too! In addition to street parking, there is a parking structure very close by, that has an obvious police presence. No complaints from a family with little ones! 5 stars for doing what a theater should do, allowing us to have a great movie experience. So, what are ya waitin' for?!?! The theater is your average theater: Current movies, surround sound, 3d, and IMAX if I'm not mistaken. The prices are high in my opinion. 5 bucks for nachos = they hand you a small bag of nachos and a tray with cheese. The nacho's aren't even hot! I'll look past many things, but don't mess with my nacho's. Safety wise, never felt worried and never had an issue. Theaters are not cleaned between movies. Staff was barely there. Candy was.. "old". AC was on ~ literally freezing you to death.

I took my granddaughter to see the smurfs movie. The parking was very easy. The surrounding area was clean and nice very nice little theatre. The staff were very friendly and nice. You may not be running but for damn sure you will be sprinting the hell out of this place. Pure nastiness, my stomach didn't know if to turn or jump out & run. The seats were so filthy with dust and every colony fecal matter known to man. My wife, friends & I just walked out with disgust & got a refund. Went here to watch mad max with the wife yesterday and were in the Sony 4k theatre. Sound was freaking amazing!! Picture was awesome, seats felt brand new, with stadium seating. Matinee pricing Sunday was $5 a ticket. Can't beat that for the quality! Bottom line: I found my new go-to movie theater! read more

Went to see the movie Dumbo today with my aunt at the Plaza Cinemas 14 Theatre. I was having problems with my encore rewards card. A gentleman named Darrell was nice enough to offer his services after we got out of the movie. After the movie he assisted me with accessing my reward points/ transferring the information. Christmas Day family, movies and what was supposed to be a great time almost got ruined. My daughter chose the wrong movie! I couldn't believe we almost sat through a Disney movie which was totally getting on my nerves (musical) not what I envisioned! So, I got out of my seat, looked for a manager, explained our situation and to my surprise a kind manager gladly exchanged our tickets for a movie we totally enjoyed watching. In comparison to other theatres, this local spot is more than sufficient for the city. The seating is comfortable, sometimes the staff is helpful, and it's located right next to Sugar Beets if you want to catch a quick drink before the movie. The theatre is not "huge" but the screen and sounds are just fine for a quick date. 3.5 for me. read more

Good staff, but when I asked to speak to the manager after my sister got gum stuck on her leg from a seat that had gum on it, the manager said "I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do about that." I didn't want a free ticket, but honestly he sounded like he had no interest in what had happened. I tried to play it off as cool, but honestly, after thinking it through... it isn't okay. The people working there, like I said, were great, showed some kind of sympathy, did the most they could by calling the manager. The manager didn't give 2 craps. And by the way, this isn't the first time this happens, I know other people who have expressed similar concerns. Anyways, I'd give this place no stars if it weren't for the nice staff, not the manager, the manger deserves no stars. I will prefer going elsewhere from now on. Thanks. read more

Went to see Annabelle, and had a terrible experience. To begin with while standing in line to get a bottle of water a little twerp dumped her popcorn all over my fiancé and I shoes, getting oil all over them and effectively ruining her shoes. All of this transpired without a word of apology or acknowledgement of what she had done. Thinking that her mother would say something about it, or at least discipline her kid we looked to her. Much to our dismay we see she is surrounded by at least 6 more kids also running rampant. Our adventure continues once we get into the theater finding no seats side by side because people do not how to sit next to strangers and are oblivious to the fact there are multiple couples searching for seating. This angered us seeing as we purchased our tickets for the 7:45 show at 2:30 that afternoon. We were able to get a refund and tickets to see any movie for free. So the two stars is for the manager. If you don't like crowds of screaming Mexican children who are rude and whose parents don't control their kids this is not the place to go! read more

Facility is nice and clean. Not too many staff on premises that we saw. The movie we saw was advertised on their website as BOGO, but we had to ask for the discount and show the ad on our phone, even though the employee said she was aware of the offer. 15 minutes after the movie was supposed to start, I had to go tell an employee that we were sitting in a dark theater. About 5 minutes later, someone came and apologized, and the movie previews started about 5 minutes after that. read more
