The screen is large and there are many seats so should be able to enjoy any showing. One Caveat for me: family friendly movies are usually shown at 2pm, so if you are someone bothered by young children in the audience who may not tolerate sitting still for several hours and who may be naturally noisy, than you may be better off going to evening 6 or 7pm movies. The seats are fine for comfort, older style with no reclining but not too dirty or thin in padding (for comparison, the older seats in the Regency theater in Ventura are much more uncomfortable for me)

They have fresh popped popcorn, hot dogs, candy, etc. The concessions are cheaper by quite a bit than the outside theaters. They only have one screen but it's a pretty large theater so can fit a lot of people. I've only seen it super busy one time. But they did run out of hot dogs. They won't give you an extra tray to split the popcorn so you have to figure out another way to share. The seats do not recline but are not uncomfortable. Overall it's a nice theater and you can't beat the price.

In the grass area there were many vendors selling various items. There was also a stage for musical performances. There were a few food stalls that sold tamales exclusively but most seemed to have a variety of offerings on their menu. Several vendors listed the price of $6 per tamale, which is pretty steep. I only recognized The Original Tamale Co. as I've had their tamales before at the farmers market. Their tamales are big and yummy. There was also a stand that sold sweet tamales with different fruit fillings. As I arrived later in the afternoon the lines for food was short and it seemed a few of the vendors were already sold out because their booths looked zipped up. Most festival goers were relaxing on the grass enjoying the musical performances. Although coming later you can avoid the crowd and easier parking but it didn't seem like I got to enjoy the festival to the fullest so I plan to attend much earlier next year.

I also really enjoyed the live music. I stopped at The Canyon truck as last year I really liked the tamales tatemados! I got a red pork tamale. The gentleman even remembered my name ... like what!!!! That was over a year ago!! I got an agua de sandía for 10 bucks at another stand. Wow .. pricey . Festival foods are pricey though! The line for gourmet tamales was long but they're not from Oxnard or even Ventura County. Back in the day it was more local vendors. I wish it was more of that. I'd love to see more local Oxnard, Port Hueneme ... etc vendors. Maybe even a home cook competition!

The fact that it's free and…read moreopen for all ages makes this the perfect weekend spot annually to partake with friends and family. I also appreciate the variety - initially I thought everything was "bananas only" but my friend informed me that while booths have banana specials and some banana centered booths, this is truly a well rounded event showcasing all kinds of different shops and food stalls for banana addicts and people just here for a good time and some non-banana items. I love a good theme but I'm not the biggest banana fan so I was happy to be able to try food and drink vendors that catered to the masses. This year I supported a few local vendors and tried lumpia, dim sum, and fresh fruit juices. The food and drinks were 10/10. I was thoroughly impressed with the amount of food and drink vendors they had. They also had a small beer garden which was great to see. Aside from food there were some shopping stalls, kids arts and crafts areas, and a kids play area. Again, great for all ages. Also throughout the day they had different artists and dancers to keep the crowds entertained. This event is super walkable and honestly I was able to see all I wanted to see in about 1.5-2 hours. A small but mighty festival. Some notable tips: I would highly recommend getting here early / at opening. Parking is sparse and when arriving close to opening I had to park pretty far, I didn't mind the walk but for those elderly and such it's smart to get parking closer in the beach lots. They also had a shuttle to get people from the lots to the event but I opted to walk. Also keep in mind that seating is always limited at these types of events... I felt like they did a good job of setting up multiple tables and chairs for people dining but by lunch all of the tables were taken. No issue for me as I was here early, but I could see as it got busier It would be difficult to be able to sit down to eat. All in all, this was a really great free event and I'm so happy I came. I definitely love to come support every year and I'm so grateful the community has such a fun festival such as this one.

However, after visiting here for the first time in a while, the theater has improved a bit recently, and I got a better impression. It's useful when you want to avoid crowds. Also, parking is not an issue once you have found the best spot for you, which is convenient and close to the movie theater, because there are public parking and street parking. I wish they had a little more food and drink selection. Alternatively, if they can't offer a wide selection of food, it would be good if they allowed guests to bring their own drinks and food (I'm not sure if it's allowed to bring in food, since most movie theaters don't allow it). If you don't need drinks or snacks, and just want to watch movies, and then this theater is fine.

I was told there was an option to have a docent provide me a tour, but I decided to explore on my own.
