Unfortunately there were no Sunday concerts due to Covid but 2021 is looking good. The Vince J. Whibbs, Sr. Community Maritime Park is a multi-use, public-private park development on Pensacola's waterfront. The Randall K. and Martha A. Hunter Amphitheater overlooks beautiful Pensacola Bay. The amphitheater part of the park supports a covered stage a "Back of House" facility that supports two dressing room spaces, & grass seating for up to 5,000. It really is picturesque sitting on that grass with breezes coming off the bay and digging the music, very nice indeed. While I am very fond of the concerts there's a lot more going on in this well laid out, well maintained and highly functional park. The Rotary Centennial Playground is great for kids ages 5-12 and includes climbing structures and more for them to explore and play. The walking path around the water makes the park perfect for working out, biking and running or if you're just looking for a looking for a place to walk that had enough room for social distancing and was by water, this is a great choice. Hey, love to fish? Well you can do that at the park too! Because the park is on the waterfront, it makes a nice place for fishing, there's even a fishing peir. It's also right next door to the Blue Yahoo stadium, the AAA team for the Cincinnati Reds. I know there's a bigger connection to the Yahoo's but not sure what that's about. Let me close by talking about our last concert in 2019. We roll up with our picnic, chairs and coolers and get hit with a little Memphis rockabilly. Wait I just left Memphis and I'm in Florida. LOL But it was really good and everyone was in to it. There was a very nice crowd, very nice people and there's free water and there's a Greek food truck set up on the edge of the concert area at the top of the hill. Somebody slap me LOL Very important note: The great folks at Blues Angel Music put on the free concerts and people are offered a chance to buy raffle tickets for some really cool musical instruments and other nice stuff. They do this to raise money for their foundation that provide musical instruments for schools and those in need, big kudos to those guys. Music has been VERY big influence in my life and I support this effort, it's a pretty big deal! Bottom line: Our last show was rockabilly but there's other genres of music represented by the water at Maritime Park!! You can bring a chair, your cooler and the parking & the admission is free. It's really cool and highly recommended for this weekly family friendly fun outing for your Sunday. Because it was high in the results for Pensacola parks, we both expected it to be pretty expansive and on a major road. Imagine our surprise when it's more of a tucked away neighborhood playground! But it turned out to be a wonderful little spot to sit and relax while enjoying our subs and macarons from Publix. Green space in a quiet neighborhood.

The miles of paved highway is surrounded with white sugar sand beaches and towering dunes and beautiful water with lots of parking and not so many people at least the day of our visit. I guess this would be considered a barrier island but regardless of its designation it's one of the most beautiful stretch of beaches that I've come across and I've seen plenty - if you're planning a visit be prepared to spend the day the memories you make here will last you a lifetime, there aren't a lot of amenities if you consider the vastness of this place and please pack out everything you pack in this is one of the most pristine pieces of land I've visited and deserves the respect from all that visit. If there is such a thing as a bucket list item this definitely qualifies and if you're lucky enough to be able to spend some time here just do it - it exceeded all my expectations and I hope to return again soon...

Reed is wonderful to be around and he has taught me so much. The adoption process was so wonderful, everything I've wanted. All my needs were met. Reed makes sure all these birds go to great homes. As for the parrots, they are provided with daily enrichment, a great diet, other birds to interact with and places to hide . Misters in the heat and heat lamps in the cold. Nothing better than Uncle Sandy's!!!!!!!!!

Historically ridden place. In the best way. There's a fort…read morehere. Actually. Unlike some other places the ruins here exist with old cannons and beautiful arched brick. We've not explored them and mainly visit for the beaches. Military can receive a free lifetime pass for national parks so the entry fee is waived here. I greatly appreciate. My husband loves to bike here. I love to come and see the Inlet. You can go to the Bayside or you can go to the Oceanside. There's also some older probably early 1900 homes scattered about the property from another iteration of its use. There's also I believe World War I one or World War II bunkers present here so this state Park has had many different lives and leaves quite a legacy. We've driven through the campgrounds which look really nice. And the stretch of golf here is substantial. You could definitely find a place to be all on your own if you were willing to walk. The facilities are nice. There are restrooms but parking can be limited at the beach lots on the gulf side when driving in. It's an extensive park and a very long stretch. The water is incredible. It's turquoise jello on the right days.

This area of the Gulf Islands National Seashore is called "Fort Pickens Beach area" it is located…read morebetween Pensacola beach & ends at the Fort. It is a beautiful stretch of beach there isn't much out there once you pass Peg Leg Pete's, but some designated areas to park for beach access, on the Gulf of Mexico side. You can see some remnants of the old Fort areas on the sound side, they are restricted areas, it's kinda of eerie, like time has stood still. Not a lot of people use this end of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, there is a unspoiled beauty about it. Untouched beautiful beachside paradise. There is a overnight camp/campground area, within the park, at the end near the Fort. It's a great place to camp while exploring the Gulf Islands National Seashore "Fort Pickens area."
