I have been seeing Dr. Partovi for a few years now. She is an excellent dentist, very detailed, patient with my specific issues and has done crowns on many of my teeth to great satisfaction. Her work has been stellar and I get a lot of compliments for the sole reason I actually SMILE these days... it's taken a lot of work to get there. Unbelievable. This place only offered to do two half-cleanings for $276 each, among other insanely costly procedures that my HMO and Cherry were only gonna barely cover. The guy who did my X-ray didn't seem like he knew what he was doing and was unclear with some of his instructions. Not to mention they have the most annoying music from the 80s and 90s playing on their radio (nothing against either decade, but still). When I went for one of the half-cleans, they had me wait 10 minutes in the chair with numbing gel in my mouth, and it was an absolute challenge not to swallow during that time. The cleaning itself went about as well as at any other dentist, but I am certainly not coming back. My previous dentist did full cleanings for half the price of a single half-clean here at Plaza, and without HMO as well. Ya' better believe I'm pivoting right back to them. read more

I really like Dr Partovi. She is very kind and helpful to those of us who have issues with dental pain and fear of procedures. My problem is with her office. The front desk always screws up my appointments. Once they tried to do a procedure before I had discontinued my blood thinners. If I had not been a smart patient there could have been a bleeding problem during the procedure. The schedulers knew about all my medications. I have recently had my hip replaced and could not have dental care for four months and I had to premedicate with antibiotics before any procedures. I made my appointment, took the antibiotics and could not have my cleaning because I didn't have a release from my doctor. This was not mentioned to me when I made the appointment. The person making the appointment knew I had to premedicate. I took unnecessary medication for an appointment. I am still upset. I have heard nothing from the office addressing the issue. read more

I went into plaza for a check up and was Recommended 3 teeth to be pulled along with other $$procedures, seemed if you go in they need to find dentist work to do and pay the bills. I came in as a new patient recently. The staff was friendly and professional. I got a thorough exam and x-rays and an informative meeting with the dentist. So far, so good. Then the recommended treatment was exorbitant. I consulted with my previous dentist, at my expense, and he said none of the recommended treatment was necessary. Come to this place if you like being scammed and the used car dealer experience. Came in for an appointment, all they did was take x-rays and have Dr. Partovi do a visual exam. She gave me a laundry list of unnecessary to dos, I've never even had a cavity. I was told to come back for a consultation/recap. I came back another day, they hadn't applied my insurance to my quote so gave me an incorrect amount, the whole purpose for that visit, and I was there for about 15 minutes- this visit was a scam. I just opened a bill, fair amounts due for the evaluation and x-rays but was charged $110 after insurance for the consultation visit where she only reiterated what she had already told me at the previous appointment. They literally did nothing, didn't touch me, and are charging me $110. Maybe try at least cleaning your patients teeth and building confidence before presenting them with a tens of thousands dollar estimate. I will be letting everyone I know and don't know (Nextdoor, etc.) to never come here. I feel swindled and hope they rot faster than unbrushed teeth. Edit: Look at the other reviews and see how many others are for "Billing Errors." Seems like this office charges whatever they want with hope you'll have the money to not question. Great dentist But, after dealing with the horribly inefficient front staff for years, I finally had to go find a new dentist. Constant misinformation and billing errors are the overriding problems !! Example: I asked how much I would have to pay to have my mom's dentures adjusted & was told "it's covered by insurance" two weeks later I get a bill for several hundred dollars .. and I'm told the insurance only covers part of the cost. What part of "HOW MUCH DO I HAVE TO PAY" wasn't clear? Example: After 2 lengthy conversations I agreed to 3 procedures the dentist recommended. I asked several times exactly what my out of pocket cost would be and was given an amount that I agreed to pay. I made 3 pre-payments but the 3rd check was sent back to me. When I asked why, I was told they didn't know what the money was for because I didn't write it on the check. Duuhh you are a dental office..the money was for dental work. So, I show up for my 9:00am appointment.. I pay the remaining balance of $312 (in cash) and I ask "do I have any remaining balance?" No "So, my bill is paid in full - correct?" Yes I got a receipt and trusted it was correct .. but NO When I looked at the bill later I saw I was only given credit for a $247 cash payment when I actually paid $312. Then I go back to have the work done & the hygienist did a great job. But, as I'm leaving I'm presented with a bill for $200. I'm told "oh sorry we thought you were only doing 2 procedures so the 3rd one wasn't on the bill." Really ??? So, somehow the hygienist knew there were 3 procedures but the front office had no clue?? Then Nancy chimes in with "I've made the same mistake myself so it sometimes happens." So, in a nutshell she said they repeatedly make the same mistakes and since it's a common mistake that makes it ok. What ??? Then I'm informed that it takes 2 appointments to complete the work. Shouldn't the appointment person know I need 2 appointments and set them both up at the same time ?? So, I make the 2nd appointment. But, the next day I get a call cancelling the appointment. I have been trying for years to continue going to this dentist because they do excellent work. But, I can't deal with the ineptitude of the front office staff any more. Every single time I deal with the front staff I am given misinformation & constant billing mistakes. read more

Watch the billing and excess services. I got pushed to have 4 laser treatments in 5 months which is basically just an expensive water pick. I have since researched and this treatment is not necessary (something you can just do at home). Nancy, the front desk billing became outraged when I questioned my overcharge and mysterious billing. The office staff and Dr. Parvoti is STELLAR! Pairing Hygienist Grace with Dr P was the best experience I have had in years! I had to change dentists recently because I no longer have dental insurance and my regular dentist out of pocket raised his costs. Dr Parvoti and her staff not only worked with me to make payment arrangements, but also were honest about what was going on with my gums. I usually don't have issues but had slight gum recession. Grace called out legitimate "gum pocket numbers" (i think that's the routine name) and fixed my issue right there in the same appt avoiding an additional trip. ***They also suggested AND gave me a small piece of sugar free chewing gum to rest in my mouth during xrays. I tend to gag on bite wing pads but i had ZERO gagging. I was never so comfortable in my life with xrays! :) It was the best experience. Even though I traveled further to go there, I will return AND refer family and friends. Thank you Dr Parvoti for your smarts and kind, well educated staff! One important additon to this review. FYI this place has relocated to Loma Vista. I wanted to share my and my husbands personal experiences with this place. My story: I've always had very good healthy teeth. My first cavity EVER was actually diagnosed at this place at the age of 25. I had been going for 2 years (so 4 visits total). I felt like every time I went back for my cleaning/check up the doctor found more cavities. My last visit doc said I had a total of 9 cavities, I was appalled! I brush my teeth twice a day and floss daily. I get my regular cleanings twice a year and due to recommended fluoride treatment. So I ended up switching dentists, just had my check up/cleaning today with my new dentist and I have ZERO cavities! Also, I had multiple fillings done at Plaza Dental which repeatedly fell out. The doctor tried to blame me for eating too many almonds...therefore causing damage to my fillings. What a joke... My husbands experience: long story short the doctor did work on the incorrect tooth... and he has had pain ever since... She tried to blame it on his past dentist's "bad work". The X-ray technician and dental hygienist were always super nice and very professional however! read more

Been going to this office for 20 plus years. This review is really for their unprofessionalism and how unorganized the entire office is. Dentist was always late for my appt. I would have to leave before she would even show. My last treatment the dentist butchered my mouth and my teeth are still not the same. The office was suppose to call me back for follow up never called, now they have sent me to collection. I didn't realize a few hundred dollars of money owed was more important than a lasting relationship with a patient and her family. The customer service at the front desk of this place is horrible.Both Nancy's never call us back when we're trying to find out why we are being billed and they schedule dentist appointmenst for our kids and we get text messages too for appointments we never made, then I call during business hours and no answer.They only to scheldule kids in afternoons which means your children must miss school to go to the dentist in the morning.That is completely wrong! I have been a patient of Dr. Partovi at Plaza Dental for many years and have always appreciated her expertise as a dentist. I am deathly afraid of going to the dentist and have a gagging problem as well, so finding a dentist with her skills, professionlism and gentle chairside demeanor was huge for me! I have been battling bone loss problems for the last six years due to medication I took for breast cancer. During this time Dr. Partovi referred me to specialists in Ventura, who then referred me to UCLA. No one wanted to work on me because of the serious medical complications any surgical dental procedure might cause. I cannot tell you how devastated I was during my last consultation at UCLA when I was advised to come back when my teeth were infected and ready to fall out. At that point, they would work on my teeth in Hospital Dentistry and hope for the best. It was Dr. Partovi and her staff who figured out a non-surgical treatment plan for me. I's been a long journey but so worth it! Today, I have a beautiful smile and it doesn't hurt to chew. I owe it all to Dr. Partovi and her wonderful staff! I had to take out all four wisdom teeth and charged me to get put asleep and did do so and was in so much pain during the procedure! Also was a patient of Dale Perry 20 years, never any major problems with my teeth, then the new Dentist that took over found something to be done at every visit. And would also push products. Last visit I had a filling and that was under a year ago and its breaking away bit by bit. Last year my crown came off and it was the worst experience ever, * Although they did take me in immediately and made a new one. No of pain with drilling, and friendly front staff.
