Came back for dinner (carryout) last night and this place did not disappoint. Tried their stuffed salmon (it was stuffed with crab cakes) and the portions were very generous. Salmon tasted very flavorful and delicious with the crab cakes. I ordered it with a side of asparagus and sweet carrots. Just a note that this place is a little pricey but highly recommend ordering their stuffed salmon! Soooo, I saw a foodie make a post about Venetian on social media very recently. Right before that, there was a sponsored post that featured the stuffed flounder plate and I was highly intrigued! After driving around downtown on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon, I was hungry! I didn't know where to go and then I remembered Venetian! I hopped on the 95 and drove all the way up to Edgewood. I passed this restaurant NUMEROUS times before!!! The outside of the restaurant is quite inconspicuous. Like, you know it's there, but if you didn't know how awesome the food, service and ambience is inside, you would never think to go! Anyhoo, when I arrived around 4pm, the dinner crowd was there. The parking lot was full, but I parked in front of the restaurant, just above the lot (one would probably say I parked on the thrift store's lot, but it's so close to the restaurant that it could be up for debate). The inside was very busy at the time. It was my first time there, so there was a slightly awkward moment where I looked around to see who would sit me or where I should stand to be seen. But a very nice waiter took care of me. He sat down and gave me a menu. It didn't take long for me to decide on what I wanted. I had my eye on the stuffed salmon (and I was not disappointed in my decision!). As I waited for my dinner to be prepared, I sipped on a very tasty (and strong) cocktail. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of the menus and the drink menu isn't yet featured on the website or Yelp. It was a tropical beverage with lime, pineapple and coconut, I believe! It was refreshing, fruity, and sweet. They have a variety of cocktails, wines, juices and sodas, so there's a concoction for just about anyone! When my dinner arrived to the table, I was SO excited! Boy, oh boy, everything was soooooo delicious! The salmon was tender and absolutely delectable with the fresh crab meat on top. The butter sauce that was drizzled on the dish was light and tasty. My rice was parboiled and paired very well with the salmon. The waiter suggested the spinach and I'm so glad I went with his suggestion. It was very deliciously seasoned. The meal comes with a lemon wedge, and it was the perfect spring of flavor that just took everything to the next level. For desert (unfortunately I ate it without taking a photo), I had the strawberry shortcake with cheesecake in the middle. It was okaaaaay, but nothing super duper special. I would love to come back to try the other featured desserts, because they ALL looked really good (especially the pistachio cake). All in all, I cannot wait to come back to try the other offerings at The Venetian. Honestly, I just may get the same dish I had on this visit, but you never know! 5 stars across the board! read more

I visited Venetian for the first time yesterday with my dear friend and her new baby. It was a treat to dine out because my friend is usually cooped up caring for her sweet little baby.Venetian was well worth the effort to get there. The food and service were amazing. Our service, Louis was so thoughtful and engaging. I ordered the ravioli, my friend ordered the surf & turf, both meals were absolute perfection. Wow, what a menu. Breakfast all day? Nice! Pasta, salads, wraps, burgers, wings, and pretty much anything you could possibly crave... a great selection of cocktails, wines and (I suppose) beers (I don't know anything about beer. Vodka is my alcohol of choice). Great portions, and delicious. It's not a surprise that my mother said, "Well have to come back here." But this time I actually agree. I need to go back. Amazing breadsticks with marinara dipping sauce came to our table while we were waiting for our order to be prepared. How dare the Universe tempt us - we JUST started to change our diet away from carbs and we were just too weak to resist!! I could have eaten the whole basket, but I did stop at one. For entrees my boyfriend had the Caesar Salad with blackened shrimp (The dressing and cheese create a perfectly salty accompaniment to the wonderfully crisp lettuce. The shrimp were okay. Personally I wouldn't have bothered, but my boyfriend enjoy them.) and a cheesesteak sandwich (Super Super Cheese Steak - Chicken or Beef. Double the Meat! $13.99) with ChezWiz and grilled onions. He loved the roll, which seemed lightly toasted. My mother had the Gamberetti wrap (Shrimp salad, romaine, tomato, scallions, melted provolone on grilled pita with creamy sriracha aioli. $13.99). She's a newfound love of sriracha, which is interesting because she spent most of her life avoiding spicy foods, but NOW she's starting to explore hot sauces. Usually that goes the other way, with people cutting back on the spicy as they age. She enjoyed the wrap. I had the Sando Olga (Blackened grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, fried eggplant, roasted peppers, arugula, honey dijon, rosemary schiacciata on Tuscan flatbread). It was INCREDIBLE. The way the sweetness of the roasted peppers mixed with the dijon and eggplant was a delight. And you can't go wrong with fresh mozzarella (an unexpected cheese pull halfway through the sandwich was a great surprise). It was a HUGE and filling sandwich. The restaurant was fairly empty for lunch. Food Network was on the TV and kept my mother occupied. I could have done without Guy Feiri grinning down at me, but I realize most people don't harbor the same level of distaste for him as I do. This is hard, because in some ways it was five star and in other ways, it was zero star. Regarding the Caesar salad, the dressing was very good, but they used red leaf, lettuce rather than Romain, and it was stuffed so tightly in a little container that it was falling all over the place. Regarding the French dip sandwich, they gave such a tiny container of au jus that you could not dip the sandwich in it at all. Also, regarding the packaging again, they stuffed the container, so tightly with chips and a pickle that it was terrible! And lastly, regarding the spaghetti and meatballs; the spaghetti was fresh, but it seemed to be cut up so I could not twirl it on the fork. The meatballs were just like my Italian grandmother used to make. They were very soft as opposed to hard like most meatballs are. I loved that. read more

I haven't been in a few months I went to get the prime rib special, which they no longer have. The menu had changed. I ordered the ribeye and it came with carrots, potatoes and I ordered string beans instead of the asparagus. When the food was served, it was beautiful. I wish I took a picture. They charged $4 for the sliced banana/strawberry/blueberries So turning it into a platter "saved" me a $1 and doubled my meat (bonus pts), but without letting me know I had an option for two different meats (lose points) PLUS they added 15% gratuity! For ONE person at breakfast! I was not given an option it was auto added in! I tried this Italian Restaurant since my mother and uncle had came and loved it. When we first arrived we were quickly greeted and seated. The first thing I noticed was how well the servers were dressed. Though the dress code for customers is casual, I love how well the staff presented themselves. They had button up white shirts and black ties. Our server was both energetic and cheerful. He went over the menu and we ordered butterfly shrimp and mini crab cakes as appetizers. Both were excellent. I was surprised how perfectly well they cooked the shrimp. It was not overcooked or rubbery like you would find at most restaurants. The crab cakes had a little crisp on the outside but were so moist and fresh on the inside. Our server told us both the tartar and cocktail sauces are made in house. I also had a caesar salad which had croutons that were also house made.So good! I ordered the Seafood Maryland as an entree! Their pasta is yet again house made and it was so good. Instead of shrimp I asked for extra scallops and it also comes with jumbo crab meat. By the time the entrees came we were so full but we took a few bites and it was just true Italian. Our server and all of the staff were very attentive the entire time. The entire experience was so good that when we found out the owner was there I asked our server if I could speak to him. The owner was very polite and friendly and I expressed how impressed I was considering it was my first time there and I wasn't expecting the amount of quality and service provided. It's very rare that I leave a review on Yelp. It's not something I generally do but this place is a hidden gem so I figured I'd share my experience because they absolutely deserve the praise. Outstanding Dining Experience - A New Favorite! We had an absolutely wonderful meal at this restaurant during our visit from Michigan. From start to finish, everything was top-notch. The bread and marinara sauce were a tasty start--warm, comforting, and full of flavor. The Oysters Rockefeller were divine, with a rich, savory sauce that had just a hint of mustard. A squeeze of lemon and a dash of cocktail sauce took them to the next level--chef's kiss! The Caesar salad was hands down the best I've ever had. Perfectly balanced with just the right amount of anchovies, creamy dressing, and Parmesan, all topped with light, crispy croutons. A classic done exceptionally well. All of our entrees were delicious and expertly prepared. Each dish felt crafted with care and attention to detail. Although we were full, the desserts looked too good to pass up--so we took some to go. We tried the double chocolate cake, coconut cake, and the limoncello cake, which I had and absolutely loved. The limoncello was possibly the best dessert I've ever had: moist lemon cake layered with creamy lemon curd and frosting, topped with white chocolate curls--a perfect blend of flavors and textures. The service was excellent--attentive, polite, and welcoming. Still, this restaurant has quickly become one of our favorites. I think what makes this restaurant stand out is its service. The servers are attentive and are almost classically trained in how to take care of customers. This is VERY RARE but matters!! Now on to food. So many choices. I got the honey chicken salad with walnuts, friend got the Rachel sandwich, hubby got the bacon cheddar cheeseburger (he's still talking about it) and other friend got the eggplant parm. Every one of us loved our dish. One friend got a pizza to go and called me later to tell me how good it was. Things are presented beautifully and taste delicious. The decor is super cute! I love the hardwood floor, sleek...giving off fine dining vibes without the bougie part! Lol. The wait staff is always courteous, knowledgeable and attentive. I love that they take the time to pack your leftovers in the container for you, they are also very knowledgeable about the menu. The lamb chops are delicious each and every time I've had them. The greens need a lil vinegar or something, but they are pretty good as well. The Mac and cheese taste like it's missing something but I'm not sure what. Overall, I absolutely enjoyed my meal, it was my boyfriend first time having lamb chops and he loved them. The crabcake tasted oh so good, IF there was any filler in them, we couldn't taste it! Visited here on Father's Day at dinner time and only waited 10 minutes! The menu is extensive, with plenty of options for drinks, desserts, and food. Everything we ordered came out fresh and hot, and the portions were huge. Our food was absolutely delicious. We especially loved the tiramisu--seriously one of the best we've ever had! Our waiter was wonderful, super friendly, and really great with our toddler. The owner was also walking around, chatting with customers, and making everyone feel welcome. The restaurant was spotless, which we really appreciated. It's clear they take pride in keeping the place clean inside and the parking lot. If you're in Edgewood, don't let the area fool you. Since it was our first time, we opted to keep it simple. Two salads, a cheeseburger and some complimentary breadsticks later, we left the building highly satisfied! The ingredients were fresh, especially in the salads. The portions were plentiful with great taste to match. Must try: Original Caesar Salad - I believe the Caesar dressing is made in house. The restaurant sits on a hill but there is ample parking. It felt very spacious and open inside the restaurant. We had Half & Half Crab Soup, Pollo Ripieno with Caesar Salad, and Crab Verde. Everything plated was delicious - just enough salt to taste, good amount of cream... nothing tasted too much & over the top for our palate which is exactly how we like our Italian food.
