I had eaten some of the plaintains at the point I took the pic. Chicken was small. Overall, it was delicious.

After being denied water at CAVA next door (the only location to do that of maybe 10 locations I've been to before), I went next door to El Gran Pollo. I ordered 1/4 chicken white, plaintains, & yuca fries, which was about $15, which is a little high compared with some other places, but I was going with what was convenient in this shopping center as I was pretty unfamiliar with restaurants in the area. Incredibly, the cashier said we have bottled water for sale. I explained what happened at CAVA, and that it would be incredible if 2 restaurants in this shopping center gets 1-star on Yelp because they denied me water (I saw this CAVA next door was only my 26th 1-star ever, so quite rare percentage wise, less than 4% of my Yelp reviews). And also said that in addition to the 1-star, you aren't getting a dime from me from the food you made. The cashier was smart and said that I could have a bottled water. However, if their normal policy is denying water, this is why they don't get 4 but 3-stars. Food was pretty good. I've had some better Peruvian chicken places, but it was solid, above average overall. Sides were solid too. Portion size of the chicken was kind of small too. Considering their normal policy is no courtesy cup of water but gave me the bottled water only because I threatened no business & bad Yelp review, they got my one pre-tax sale of about $15 (which should've been about $13 or so), but I wouldn't return here.

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. $15.99 for a steak sub!!!! Stick to the chicken!!

El Gran Pollo is a nice alternative to the typical fast food options. Authentic charcoal grilled chicken with accompaniments is their specialty. I ordered my usual - Quarter white with fried rice and plantain - which was quite satisfying, as usual. Service was fast and friendly. EGP is a safe pick if you're in the area!

The food was ok. Got Chicken Quesadillas that were really good. Also got 1/4 chicken with Fried Rice that was dry and not that great. My husband got a shrimp bowl that was really good. The staff was not very friendly. Our order was ready and no one let us know.

When we arrived early and checked out the grocery store side. They didn't have an extensive selection, but there was a good variety of foods, beverages, bulk items, and spices to choose from. I picked up a container of wheat wheels and some horchata concentrate. When we got the food home, our order was complete and correct. You'd be surprised at how much of a problem this has been recently. With the additional carry out traffic most restaurants are seeing due to the pandemic, we've had issues with multiple orders from most of the restaurants. Everyone was very happy with their meals. Our boys inhaled their burritos, and all of them said that they'd want to order from El Piquin again. My wife enjoyed her huevos rancheros, after some initial apprehension about the eggs because I'd forgotten to order them scrambled. They were hard fried, which she actually liked better. My parrillada platter had a large variety of tasty proteins and vegetables. The refried black beans were a little runny, so I mixed them into the rice, which I generally do with my beans and rice anyway ;) The service was also quick and every one was super nice. We'll definitely keep El Piquin in mind when we're in the area again.

I ordered the mix-and-match tacos (Birria and Bang Bang Shrimp), which came with two sides. I chose the the Dito Caesar salad and Tajín waffle fries. The Birria taco was good, though the meat could've been a bit more tender. The Bang Bang Shrimp taco surprised me. The sauce was more sweet than spicy, it was missing that spicy "kick" that Im use to. You know the kick that Bonefish has went their Bang Bang Shrimp. However it was still tasty overall. The Dito Caesar salad, unfortunately, didn't hit the mark. It had plenty of dressing but somehow lacked flavor. Honestly tasted like plain iceberg lettuce. On the bright side, the Tajín waffle fries were solid, with a really nice crunch. Overall, it was a decent experience. I'd come back more for the drinks and atmosphere than the food.
