I'd been researching dentists for some time and kept coming back to Elk Grove Healthy Smiles (EHS), due to all of theor positive reviews and the staff from posted photos seems very friendly. I finally decided to visit EHS, and it turns out my girlfriend we t here when she was younger and had positive experiences as well. My initial consultation was thorough, and everything noted was gone over with me by both my Dental Hygienist and Dr. Nanra. And any further treatment was discussed and I given the option and opportunity to do it the same day, which I opted for dueing my 1st visit. Further treatment I went to another professional, and EHS helped me through the process and were even able to get me in sooner than expected. And then get me back in in-house, to finish a treatment before I went on vacation. Standard visits have been quick and easy as well, and staff have always ensured I was comfortable throughout my visits. From the reception team up front, to the dental professionals in the back. The staff are always nice and friendly with a positive attitude. And the front desk staff, make everything from billing to appointment booking as easy as possible. Overall: Great Dr. and great staff. I always receive a printout of the recommended services and how much they will cost. I understand that it is ultimately up to me whether I want to proceed with any treatment, but the constant reminders of the RECOMMENDED work makes me feel pressured, and I don't like that feeling. It also makes me question whether it's all about making money. Going to the dentist already gives me a lot of anxiety, and I'm sure that's the case for many people. At the end of the day, I don't want a doctor who makes me feel like there is always something wrong with my teeth. Throughout my years, I have seen a lot of doctors and none has ever made me feel pressure like Dr. Sato. Maybe it's his personality or how he approaches his patients. My goal in finding a good dentist has always been about finding a great dental hygienist, but this time around I feel like I need to move on and find another doctor who makes me feel more comfortable and at ease. Kalia took great care of me. She was gentle, caring, and answered all of my questions along the way, especially when I wasn't sure about something. She took her time cleaning and polishing my teeth thoroughly, inside and out, and I really appreciate the attention to detail. I tend to get nervous due to past experiences, but she made me feel at ease. The dentist came in to check my teeth and gave a quick explanation of the work I may need. I didn't catch his name since the interaction was brief, and it felt a bit rushed. I also felt the scraping on my front teeth to remove some tartar was quite rough, with noticeable pulling and tugging- it honestly made me worry my teeth might break. All staff are very friendly and welcoming. Lena did my treatment. She seemed knowledgeable and told me about options and expectations. We discussed what I wanted done before she started. Room had a tv angled from the ceiling so you can watch it comfortably while laying down. She starts with measurements and pictures, does some markings on the stomach (may not be necessary for other body parts) and then sprays the cold cryo stuff on. That part was pretty quick. Then I laid down and she did my face/neck. When applying a serum + sunscreen afterward, she massaged it in and that was nice and relaxing. She's very gentle and checks in frequently to make sure you feel ok/it's not hurting. Finally, I chose to end with EMS. They described it as vibrations that are equivalent to 1,000 crunches. Another option is to use metal tools similar to a gua sha. Overall, took about 1.5 hrs. Front waiting area is a bit small. Can only fit 4 people sitting, but really just 2 comfortably (2 chairs and 1 small couch). They have a small fridge with waters and some snacks above it. I'm going to wait at least a few days to see if I have any noticeable results. They recommended 10 sessions, which is $2k if booked as a package. While I would love the see the results of that many sessions, it's difficult for me to take off that often from work and have sitters for my kids.. so we'll see. Buuuut, the staff made for an excellent first experience and I would recommend giving them a try (at least for the aesthetics stuff; I can't attest to the dental side). 4.5 stars, but kept it at 4 until I can tell if it was worth $200.
