As a "hotel" this is one star, as a roadside "motel" it's three stars. From the perspective of being a "TWO STAR" MOTEL, this is NOT a hotel, I give it three stars. The front desk curated this room, I say this because he seemed to ponder which room as he got our key. No one will accuse them of being overly friendly. The fireplace in the lobby is one of those fireplace looking heaters. There's a mini vending machine in the "lobby" with soda, water and snacks reasonably priced for the region, about $1.50. Now the gross bit: The human generic material on the bedskirt as well as interesting leftovers on the sheets inspired is to sleep on top, luckily we didn't bring a UV light, because we may have ended up sleeping in our car. Pros: no bugs, no bad smells, located close to good restaurants, shopping, sun valley Mall, the door locks, the TV and remote works, the AC works, the mini fridge works, the lights all work, shower works well and has warm water. Cons: Firstly, there was "evidence of intimate 'seggsual' activities" on the bedding, see photos. Epically disgusting. Renovated rooms are being neglected so it's pretty stained (rugs, bedding, walls), damaged (ceiling, walls, toilet top), and dirty (stained walls, bedding, filthy carpeting)-yeah redundant on the cleanliness. Kinda surprised there isn't a gross smell, I guess give it a couple more years. Lumpy pillow, no facial tissue, just empty box This is a MOTEL not a hotel. A hotel has more amenities, like breakfast, pool, etc. Would only recommend if they have a clean room, but I think they "know what they have" and are content to offer this to their customers, and probably complain how spoiled we are to expect clean rooms. Very run down and dirty. Reminds me of a sketchy dilapidated apartment complex/slum. Door handles were visibly dirty, large dry wall patches every where, paint peeling and popping and water damaged in bathroom, shower faucet was a pull that turns the shower on-- BROKEN-- couldn't get much other than a drizzle out of the shower head. I believed the reviews on Expedia, they seemed overall positive, but should have come to Yelp because those now seem like planted reviews. It seems relatively safe but I was worried the entire time I would catch something or get bed bugs. Couldn't sleep at all. read more

If I could give zero...Stay as far away from the Peasant Hell Sin as possible. On Sunday morning at about 7:15am the painfully loud fire alarm went off in all of our rooms. Smoke could easily be smelled on the second floor, but many of us were told that it was a "false alarm" by the manager on duty in a blatant and dangerous LIE. I met a couple outside that said management attempted to pin on them that the alarm was triggered, no less. The manager finally admitted that it was his wife who caused the fire. Yes, his wife. For this disruptive fiasco I was offered only $20 off my bill; far insufficient to make up for the monstrous early morning disruption THAT THEY CAUSED. I met others outside who complained about finding ants in their room. Enough said, this place is run by clowns. Allow them to house only other circus acts. read more

I have feedback for this establishment from both the perspectives , as a guest and as an employee at the desk. As a guest I have to give this hotel same average rating as other reviewers. People book rooms at this place only if nearby hotels have no vacancy. A few of the guests are prostitutes and if you happen to be near one of those rooms then you will hear doors opening and closing every few minutes and the smell of weed wafting up in the air. Rooms are tiny, pull back the sheets before you sleep on the bed , you don't wanna wake up with the bed bug bites.Breakfast is minimal just like the size of the room. I unfortunately worked here as a receptionist in the year of 2014. The worst decision of my life.A couple of years prior to that I had worked there briefly for about a week. The owner Tony, an almost bald , Indian man of about 5'9" is a conman. Before I joined Pleasant Hill Inn I had a nice job on hourly basis at another hotel. But while at my other job Tony contacted me and offered me to work at his place. I asked him about the pay and number of hours and I was misinformed by him. To lure me to work at his place Tony promised me that it was going to be a very light work at his place, and that I would be working only few hours a week at Pleasant Hill Inn and since it is a live-in work I would be saving a lot of money on rent. Also he promised that if I ever feel that I need a break he would ask my co-worker to cover for me or call an hourly employee to relieve me. He said I can easily work and go to school while employed . He misled me and made it seem like it was a great opportunity to make and save a lot of money while working only few hours a week. Next thing I know I start working at his place and initially he doesn't reveal the truth about how many hours he intends on making me work. But as a week goes by I find out from Tony that he intends to make me work more than 80 hours a week from 10 am to 10 pm and 7 days a week. I asked Tony why he didn't tell me about this before and why such deception? As a response he just started falsely accusing me.While another guy at the front desk worked 10 pm -10 am 7 days a week. The other guy basically slept pretty much all during his shift except for preparing breakfast around 7 a.m.Moreover Tony told my co-worker to lie about his wages to me. Tony told my co-worker at the front desk to intentionally state to me the amount that was $300 less than what he actually made.Tony did this in order to make me feel like I was getting paid enough comparatively and make it seem that that. I was basically enslaved, that is actually human trafficking. Also he told my co-worker to steal money from the drawer and blame it on me and when the drawer was short Tony took it out of my paycheck.He did this a couple of times. After I quit my job at the hotel I had my mail still going to that place and Tony had the audacity to open my personal mail that had sensitive information in it without my knowledge and consent. I had been waiting for that mail at new place but never received it.Eventually when I asked him if they had received my mail and he responded via e-mail saying that it was opened accidentally. It shows that he has no respect for other's personal mail with sensitive information.He may not be aware of the law but opening someone else's mail without consent is a federal crime. He opened my mail and has the audacity to tell me that someone threw it in the trash during the renovation and he pulled it out and thus it was accidentally opened. read more

I ended up staying here overnight, and absolutely what the heck. Everything was alright in the lobby in terms of appearance (however the smell was slightly off putting). I then got to my room and the beds were clean. HOWEVER, I proceeded to go to the restroom and found an ANT INFESTATION. Thank God the bed I laid in was clear of them. My boyfriend and I stayed here for around 6 days. First off I want to just say that their beds were SUPER COMFY. I almost didn't want to get up out of bed lol. As far as our room goes, it wasn't too bad but it wasn't great either. There was some dust, some chipped paint here and there and some stains on the walls. It wasn't the worst I've seen and I didn't mind too much. What concerned me was that we found a TON of ants in our room. I used to live in a place where we got ants every year and it's not something that can be easily fixed. I went down to the receptionists, who both seemed very professional and apologetic, and the male receptionist said he would give us a king suite free of charge. When we left to go somewhere in SF shortly after this, they called my mom (who payed for the hotel room, shout-out to mom) and said they were getting very busy and needed us to move our stuff out super soon so they could fill that room. When we got back, they weren't busy. We were the only ones in the lobby. They downgraded our new suite from a king to the same kind of suite we had before, which was a bummer but i didn't care, I just didn't want ants. When we went into our new room, it was cleaner and the bed was even MORE comfy than the first. Everything was fine for a day or two and then I noticed ants on the floor leading into the bathroom. My bf threw away some food in that trash can and the ants were making a run straight for it. Luckily, I had raid and took care of that while yelling "DIIIIE!" (I really don't like ants). I didn't report the ants the second time because I didn't want to seem like a nuisance also I already killed them lmao Seeing these reviews makes me kind of sad because I realize that the owners and the staff probably already know they have ants and won't do anything about it. There were also lots of times where no one was at the reception desk at all or the receptionists were on their phones. They both looked very tired and like they didn't want to be there. Long story short, I don't recommend this hotel if you want a Holiday Inn type of hotel. If you need somewhere to stay, this place is alright for the most part, but BRING RAID!!!! read more

This place is absolutely disgusting! Dirty, filthy, Nasty! The lobby is decieving.... lobby looks nice and clean... My first room I was in had old food in the fridge, including someone's hemorrhoid cream in the freezer. The fridge ended up dying on me and all that defrosted nastiness from the freezer dripped on my food and contaminated it. I was on the second level of the hotel, they had a stick I. The window to keep it secure. The air conditioner broke as well... the front desk clerk was able to come bang on it to get it to work again. The security latch on the door was faulty! You could literally slip the security latch off while the door was opened! The mattress was all springs and completely outdated! The floors are stained and torn, the walls are filthy along with everything else. They refused to give my money back because they were able to move me to another room... same floor, directly across from the first room. All I can say is the latch worked properly and the freezer was coated in so much frost that they had to remove the freezer door to shut the fridge. The bathroom in the second room they moved me in had hair stuck to the shower wall! Old food was on the floor. Horrible mattress... I unfortunately was stuck there with my young daughter! The staff did not care about the conditions. I was accused of looking for things to complain about, that they were just as safe as the Hilton. I eve. Emailed management and never got a response! You will be more comfortable at a Motel 6! Do yourself and your family a justice and skip this place! read more

This place is the worst I've EVER stayed at. As soon as you enter the smell of curry and B.O. hits you right in the face. We had to wait for someone to come to the counter. To which we could barely understand. We headed up to the 2nd floor and was then hit with strong smells of cigarettes. Upon entering our room, we realized not all the lights worked and the room was tiny. It was completely outdated and you saw ants right off the bat in the bathroom, and on the wall in the entryway. Looking closer at the wall as you enter there was a huge trail of dead ants where you could see that were sprayed with poison. After sitting on the bed for a while I got this weird sense of bugs crawling on me and felt itchy. After about 30-45 minutes my husband and I decided we'd had enough. After gathering our things, headed down to the front desk to tell them we were checking out. All the guy says is, "Ok. Thankyou." My husband told him that the place stunk and there were bugs all over and the guys says again, "Ok. Thankyou." My husband had to tell him to print a receipt for us so we could leave and the guy asks us three times if we made any outgoing calls and finally prints the receipt. We then hightailed it out of that HELL HOLE. Oh yeah, and there is at least three people living behind the reception area, which you can see lying down on a matress every time they came out of the back. read more

The bad: The pool area was unlit when I went to swim. I had to ask the clerk to turn the lights on, which he did. The pool was advertised as heated. It was tepidly warm at best. Do not waste your time or money at this dump. Had to stay here once unfortunately, due to poor planning on my end. All the hotels in the area were completely booked up due to a tech conference so I decided to take the only place available, The Pleasant Hill Inn. The staff is rude and lazy and even that is being generous. The rooms are dirty, cheap and tiny. The walls are thin so you can hear everyone surrounding you. I had to listen to drunk college kids yelling and slamming doors all night. It was a regular fucking "Bro" fest. I went out to grab some food during a pretty heavy rain, only to return to a locked front entry way. There were 3 men standing at the front desk (All who worked there) motionless, watching like a bunch of slack-jaw monkeys as I fumble to find my room key with bags of groceries in both hands in the pouring rain. Not ONE of them opened the door to help a lady out or let me in but rather made me go around to the side entrance 50 feet away. The next morning, I had meetings and due to traffic on my way back to the hotel, I returned back 15 minuets after the scheduled check out time. Just as i was doing my last scan of the room, making sure nothing was forgotten so I'd never have to return again, the phone rang and it was the same dickweed from the night before at the front desk. He informed me since it was after check out time, any more time I may need would be $20 for every 15 minuets moving forward as if I were a hooker and he was giving me some type of deal. I wish I could have roundhouse kicked the ugly smirk off his stupid face. Save your money and sleep in your car or on a park bench. read more

This filthy hell hole does not deserve a single star. It should be shut down by the health department which I am in contact with. The front desk management stopped answering the phone calls after the better business bureau, booking agents, and police was notified. They don't want to re compensate me for the hell they put my child and me in. We have bites all over, not to mention the inspectors investigation report and videos, but the hotel still denies the filth even after seeing the pest crawling all over. Not to mention bad customer service from the moment we walked in, the suspicious characters and their not even hidden drug deals and use. If you are looking for a cheap stay, it will cost you more than a 4 star hotel I checked into last minute, after the medical treatments and disinfection of your belongings. I could go on and on about the health hazards and nasty practices of the establishment but I want to put this nightmare behind us, and simply hope the ground this building stands on sucks it into a black hole along with the filth, where it belongs. read more

I'm giving this place 3 stars for a reason. We were skeptical because the yelp ratings but we were on a road trip and needed a place to rest for a night or 2 while we hung out in the bay. This place isn't the best that's for sure but it was clean and comfortable. We drove to Bart spent all day in the city and came back. It's conveniently located to plenty of food and shopping and that's a plus. If your looking to spend time in a hotel then this isn't the spot but if your looking for a place to rest at night then it's great. Again my husband and I just needed a place to sleep while we explored the bay. I'd come again. Oh and the continental breakfast could use a face lift. read more

This is a no frills place but did have what I needed..small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The room was clean. My only issue was my key card not working twice. The guy at the front desk insisted I put the card near my phone, causing it not to work. This did not happen! He also insisted he put the wifi code on the little envelope that held the key card. Again, this wasn't the case. When I called down to ask what the password was he said "its on the little envelope". I told him it wasn't and he said "I put it on there but I'll go ahead and give it to you again now". Again, the password was NOT written down. Could have been a bit friendlier but the female that let me in when I got locked out was helpful. Overall, I would stay again for a night or two. This hotel has some work to do. The room was OKAY, for the price could have been nicer. The "high speed internet" is passablr I guess as long as you dont need to stream. Netflix is almost unbearable. I brought it to their attention and their excuse was "people.in the smoking rooms dont usually ask about wifi"..what the hell is that supposed to mean? My bf comes to visit twice a month and has stayed at this hotel numerous times (read: has given them steady business). Mainly because the location is close to my place, he overlooked all of the things like bad service, dirty bathtub (he used my bath at my place instead), dirty smell of cigarettes and bleach, etc. etc. However, last visit was the last time. Simply put, the person at the desk was rude. And when he realized after an hour of back and forth that he was the one in the wrong... he offered no apology and resumed acting like he was being so very inconvenienced and even using a harsh tone. Wow. I would not recommend this hotel. I'd rather save the $$ and stress of dealing with the unpleasantness that is them, and just camp out in my car if they were the only place with vacancy. My bf doesn't use Yelp and I just started Yelp otherwise I would have told him to take pictures. I highly recommend the Pleasant Hill Inn if you in the area and a nice place to stay. I am traveling for construction and found a new home away from home. I've tried quite a few other hotels in the area and after staying here, I had to look no further. From the first time I walked in and met the husband and wife management team Pratik and Ravina, they treated like family and continuously ensured I had every comfort during my stay. This hotel is safe with very strict assurances made to ensure my visit as well as all the other guests are are not confronted by unwelcome situations (like just renting to anyone that has money). The hotel is an older hotel yet the rooms are well maintained and always have fresh linens when needed. The rates are extremely reasonable and I hear they are about to restart some sort of continental morning service. I visited relatives that stayed here. I was disgusted the minute I exited my car. Used condoms, their wrappers, and the box right next to my feet. Gross!!! The appearance of the front desk staff was not professional at all. Stained shirt, hair not combed, no name tag. My family's room was so small even for only 3 people to have a visit. Major stains in the carpet. Horrible patches on the walls just left without repair. They had obviously been there a while since even the patches needed patching. The best hotel I ever stayed. Very clean and pleasantful stay. The ambience of the staff was simply great !!! The facility looks almost new. Rooms were simply awesome !!! Here are few things about this Hotel. 1. Rooms were very clean and bed was very comfortable. Rooms were equipped with standard latest Amenities ( LED Dish Tv's, Free Wifi ,Air Conditioners, Coffee Makers, so .. on..) 2. Free parking, indoor heated Pool. 3. They have a complimentary breakfast in the morning. Bagels, Waffel's, Coffee, Juice , Hardboiled Eggs, Yogurt and more !!! Typically continental breakfast good to start your day. 4. Most importantly the neighborhood is very calm and quiet with ample space in and around the hotel. 5.They are reasonably priced compared to other places in close radius. 6. Off the I 680 exit. I couldn't describe how disappointed we were to stay here. Mind you we didn't. Arrived for check in and saw the parking lot empty. Inside the smell of chemicals and something funky in the air. The "attendants" not really professional and seeming to just press some buttons, as well as, possibly living in the back room behind the counter wall. We get to our room on the second floor and we're petrified. I understand old hotels but it's still a HOTEL. Carpet was ripped to where you can see the floorboards underneath. A dirty blanket that just seemed to sit on a mattress on the floor(no box spring). Small and room at that. The bathroom was....hmmmm. Wasn't ok. The lights all didn't work and the cover was held up by scotch tape and yet not connected. We literally went out to lunch and I immediately booked a known brand hotel. Yea we lost out on money and paid more for our stay but it's worth it to be comfortable. I do feel this hotel needs to be inspected and made sure to be in code. read more

The one good place I stayed at lately. I had to stop there for about two nights. Pleasant hill is beautiful country side in California and the motel makes it even the more comfortable to explore the country side. I have read the reviews and still had to go there with no other choice left. And after staying there I can say reviews definitely matters but might change time to time. I didn't really experience anything of such which was written in the reviews may be worked over it and made it the best now. The help desk guys are really good and helpful in everything they were quick and the hospitality was amazing. The room was very clean and have no complaints about anything in it. We stayed there for three night . The place was fairly clean but the service was non exsistent. We arrived and the desk clerk gave us a room on the 3rd floor. When we arrived at the room there was a young man in the room, we went back downstairs and was given another room after the desk clerk told us he was busy and we needed to wait.The new room had a funny smell but looked clean. My husband went to get some ice and the desk clerk informed him that the person in the first room was the son of the housekeeper, and was waiting for his mom. The next morning we wnet downstair for som breakfast. There was a young woman in the breakfast room, she was making food for a whole family, we think it was the owners family. She monopolized all the appliances and was not willing to move. The coffee was undrinkable and the rolls were stale. Next day we decided to go out for breakfast, in order to get something edible.
