Staying in a Hotel during COVID is usually a 3-Star experience at best. During my recent residence, everything to do outside the room (gym, bar, lounge, etc.) was closed. Other negatives were a relatively small room and having to pay for parking within a larger free lot. They did have a breakfast box (with apple) available in the morning and fresh brewed coffee on request at the front desk (a huge plus compared to those in-room packets). Other pluses were front desk staff who were friendly and helpful, and the fact that there were lots of restaurant choices (then take-out only) just across the street (or in the case of Boston Market across the parking lot). Using my Marriott Bonvoy Visa, I did picked up some travel points on the spend as well as the stay. I really look forward to using them someday soon. read more

Do you need to spend the night in the Bay Area because you are flying out of SFO early in the morning? If so, this hotel is the best and most inexpensive place at which to stay. Hotels in the Bay Area are expensive, and staying at them is often a hassle because of parking. Finding this Courtyard by Marriott was a lifesaver: free parking, convenient location, high-quality economy/midscale accommodations. 10/10 would stay here again. GM Katrece Raine knew that my husband and I were staying here en route to our honeymoon, and she and her team conveyed their excitement for us and made sure we felt appreciated. I score low on the sentimental scale, but I will save forever the card the staff signed for us and left in a thoughtful snack and gift basket! The hotel is so conveniently located near highways and delightful places to eat and shop. Free parking is a huge plus, as is being located within walking distance of a drugstore, grocery store, and Bank of America banking center. We had one meal nearby and one meal and drinks at the hotel restaurant. Every employee with whom we interacted was pleasant and professional, from Darius who checked us in to the folks that we passed in the hallways. Hotel pools are my jam, and this indoor pool and jacuzzi was solid. The hotel beds were comfy, and being located near the highway did not bother my husband nor me at all. We don't have cable or a TV in our bedroom at home, so let me tell you, it was a treat to chillax and watch a movie from our hotel bed. $209, tax and fees included, for one night, was a STEAL for the quality we enjoyed. What an unpleasant stay at a Courtyard Marriott in July 2020. As our jobs still have us travelling, we've had many properties compare during the COVID19 area, and this has been the worst experience by far. Check in - very unpleasant. No thanking us for our loyalty to Marriott (which they are trained to do), and really just no respect at all. It was around 10:30 PM and we asked if there was water as our welcome gift (many hotels have a bag ready with water and a snack bar or candy bar). She rudely said no that she gave the last one away earlier. After an awkward pause she told us we could buy some for $5. Then my bf had to explain as the top tier on Marriott we should get at least 2 waters, we'd been driving all day and were pretty drained. She then in a really rude tone said "I was about to give it to you for free if you would have let me finish," as she stumbled over her words and realized she was wrong. We also didn't get upgraded even though we asked, the woman just overall was in a bad mood and we got the brunt of it. Room is janky and not very clean, which is odd because some rooms are cleaner than ever. Breakfast the next am with another rude, annoyed lady. The real frustrating part was that they 1-removed the coffee makers from the rooms. Most hotels will provide them on request, as all other Marriott's have done. They do not. 2-they ask you to come down for free coffee (which should be unlimited as it is in the room bc you can get as many as you'd like) and in most lobby's of hotels in the AM's. They had this annoying sign saying "1 coffee per guest OR 1 water." What? You can only have 1 water or 1 coffee for breakfast? And then it says "1 yogurt and 1 snack box." The snack box has a list of items. Fast forward to the execution. They are OUT of yogurt - admittedly "ran out last week and haven't been restocked." And the snack box had a list of items that surprise - when you get to your room - are actually not in the box! How hard is it to print a new breakfast list that has the items in the box and makes no mention of yogurt? You've had over a week to type it out. The gym was closed and we did not check out the pool Originally our reservation was more than one night but we checked out early and ran away to the Marriott in Walnut creek which was an absolute DELIGHT! Talk about a staff that knows how to treat people, they are great. Price - wayyyy to much for what you get in a dumpy, disrespectful hotel. read more

A little outdated but lovely and clean, not to mention they have plans for renovations in 2020. My room was large and came with a refrigerator, and while I was originally skeptical about the super minty shampoo and conditioner I absolutely loved the complimentary soaps. While I would normally consider a 3 star rating, this location was bumped up a notch due to the stellar staff. I know it sounds cliche, but getting a hug from the GM is a great way to start the day. Complimentary wine in your room with a personalized note bc you're staying with a group, yes please! I would absolutely stay at this hotel again in the future thanks to this first experience and fantastic customer service. read more

I just spent the last 16 hours at this hotel and I'm really surprised that it has a 3 star rating. I have seen few economy hotels better suited to business and overnight travelers. First of all, parking was easy, close and free and the lot is shared with a drug store and a few other shops, so should you need anything it's just a few steps away. As soon as we checked in we were presented with a welcome gift of complimentary snacks and drinks. Staff was very nice. Then we proceeded to help ourselves to glasses of ice cold fruit infused water, which is always available in the lobby. We headed up to our room, and I will concede (as other reviewers have complained) that the carpet in the hallway is dated but the room itself was lovely. I don't know about any of you, but I don't tend to spend too much time in the hallway. I only had a standard room, but please see the photos. Everything was clean, well appointed and comfortable. So comfortable as a matter of fact that the person I was with spent an uncharacteristic 12 hours sleeping in the cozy bed. This hotel is one of few that we have been to where the pool and spa area is open 24 hours for your convenience and for me that's a big plus! I hate rushing to try to get down to the spa for a soak before the pool hours are over. There were multiple families enjoying the pool and having a great time as we relaxed in the spa. They were also taking advantage of a very nice outside terrace to have some snacks in between swim time. You can see the gym from the pool area and the equipment looked new and in good condition. There was no refrigerator in the room, but the ice machine took care of my needs and the coffee station was fine in the morning. The bath products offered smelled great and were good quality. The hotel is also only 30 minutes from the airport. Personally, I had an enjoyable experience and would definitely stay here again. read more

This is a nice property right in downtown Pleasanton Hills situated immediately next to a big strip mall on one side and a large shopping area on the other. Kind of strange that their parking just blends into the mall's parking area. I am always amazed at various design hotels use to accommodate TVs - all those wild swinging arms with zillion-degrees-of-freedom or that beveled stand that flips like a gymnast. The room I had, offered a delight as well. Here are the instruction a for the best tv viewing pleasure: (1) rotate stand 37.5 degrees, (2) rotate around your head-to-toe axis by 47 degrees, and (3) stare at 2:00 clock direction. Now you are watching! In all seriousness though, they had s real nice gym and a nice lobby. Their lobby opens into a nice patio so you can enjoy decent outdoor if you want to take your drink or food outside. Bistro is a typical Marriott bistro and with so many other places close by, I suggest you skip the bistro dinning. read more

Not sure what happened to this staff, but we were not very pleased at all. We understand the concern of being safe (mask required) unfortunately, not most of us are quite familiar on the restriction due to living from another state. Scenario One: Around 7pm Saturday 9/6/20 MY Wife walked in before I did and I did not have a room key. A nice fella open the sliding door for me so that I can enter and keep in mind that I had two luggage and three shopping bags with me at the time. I was so grateful the fella let me in because I was a bit aggetitated that I stood there for 10 MINUTES, WHILE the Front Desk Personnel Lady Literally IGNORED me. Scenario Two: As I walked in. The Front Desk Personnel Lady had the nerved to raised her voice directly to me that why I am entering with NO ROOM KEY and No Mask. First, I apologized and I explained to her that my wife had the room key and tried getting her attention to let me in. So, being a customer for almost 5 years (Elite Member) I gave her my credentials. Just as I was expecting a return of apology for her rudeness behavior, I was lectured about the hotel's restrictions regulations (fairpoint) I get i But am not some child running around making mess,lol So, I told her, if she can change her approach to be a bit more pleasant and ask nicely and show some descent customer service. Scenario Three: We stayed for three nights and probably passed the front desk 10-15 times and NO ONE GREETED us and most of the time, no one was even there to attend any customer needs.... SMH Scenario Four: We needed some assistance and trying to see if they have a bottled opener. One personnel was trying to helped a couple for coffee and while waiting, the personnel bluntly ignored my wife for fifteen minutes. Where this person could've offered to help my wife for one simple task, to open a bottled Coca-Cola...60 seconds! That's all... I'm quite embarrassed... Last note, We will never ever go to any marriot anymore. We are DONE read more

I have to say that my rating of this hotel is not based on the facilities, as those are actually pretty nice. My rating is based on my experience with this hotel and the issue with my stay. Upon check-in I had a short wait time was greeted by a very friendly staff member who seemed appreciative that I would be staying at the hotel. I did the chicken song and dance and got the keys to my room and had a comfortable night stay at the hotel. The next morning I woke up, took a shower and started getting ready for my day. While I was in the shower parentheses I use the hotel supplied shampoo and soap parentheses I noticed that my skin felt like it was on fire, the burning sensation was pretty extreme. I turn the water down low and cool to rinse myself off and figure out what was going on - I had red burn marks over my shoulders down my leg everywhere that I just use the soap. I get out f the shower and attempt to towel off which did not help. When I looked in the mirror my face and upper body looked as if it had been sleeping out in the Arizona sun with no sunscreen on. To be honest I have fairly sensitive skin, I readily admit that. That being said this was a totally new experience to me. I travel quite a bit for work I have never had something like this happen prior. I tried to sooth myself with cool water and some medicated lotion - and sat a bit to try and get he redness and swelling down. A good 30 minutes or so later, I left my room and went to the front desk to check out and advise they offer a different soap or at least let guests know that what they offer is not for sensitive skin people. The hotel manager came to me and apologize zed, stating that she doesn't even use the soap there as she has sensitive skin as well and it does the same thing to her. I asked why they use that so why not something else or at least let just know that it's a very harsh chemically based soap and she didn't have an answer. I ended up having to going to the doctor later that morning as the burning would not go away and they gave me a prescription to apply multiple times a day to try to help. I had to go back the next day as it was getting worse and every time I apply the prescription and seem to make it worse and the pharmacist told me that the doctor gave me the wrong prescription. She called the doctor recommended a different one which was then prescribed to me and I picked it up that evening. On other visits to town I did try to book another stay at this hotel using their email service and they never responded, so I've never gone back. I did send a complaint letter into the corporate office talking about my experience and how much time off of work it had cost me and money out of pocket (o was reimbursed) however I never heard back from anybody. I was really surprised by the lack of customer service related to this incident and it really went as far as to show me how little they care about their guests. Unfortunately this has impacted Marriotts all over is I seldom use the Marriott my travels anymore and I use one of my other preferred hotel providers wherever I go. To date this chain has lost out on about 42 nights of my business. read more

I pre-paid for the room through Marriott.com. No complaints. A week later on 1/29/18 they attempted to charge me $1,000!! After failing to do so, they tried again for $500!! They were successful in collecting $500.00 I immediately called them to see what was going on? They immediately accused me of thrashing the room, breaking all the furniture and staining all the sheets! Without calling me first to check and see what had happened, they charged me whatever they could. I told them I was the only person in the room, there's no possible way I would create such damage. After asking to see pictures of the room they "claimed" to have..They apologized and said it was the guest who checked in on 1/28/18 and would be pursuing him/ her now!! They said they just assumed I was the last person in the room! They also said they charge first and ask questions later. This raises a lot of questions: 1) Do they not clean the room for up to a week? 2) Do they not know who's in their rooms at all times? 3) Do they accuse people of such acts knowing you're out of town and won't fight it? 4) Could I have been robbed and kidnapped and they didn't look into it? 5) Could the room have been burglarized and a week later they pick someone to charge? The list goes on... I fought to get my money back and they offered me a lousy 20k points to my Marriott account that they said I'd get within 24 hours. I've yet to receive the points. They got caught wrongfully charging a customer on purpose and can't back out of the corner now! HR & corporate are friends and this isn't over. read more

This is by far the worst Courtyard by Marriott I've ever stayed at. I travel for business and pleasure. At $265 per night is way over priced for this outdated property. Let me start with the bistro. Most all the food is pre-made and food items that are made onsite are overcooked and poorly prepared. Service after purchasing highly priced breakfast is nonexistent. During my stay they had workers come too my room to take carpet measurements!!! DURING MY STAY?? The front desk staff were nice and did their job which was the only good thing about this property. Oh and had to pay parking $5 a day !! Not expensive but it is an open parking Lot shared with Rite aid and other business establishments. Total rip off. This is a corporate property; might want to look into new management. And 1 star is only cause of the front dessert staff. read more

We stayed here few times. Yesterday the hallways were absolutely freezing. I'm not sure why would they crank up the A/C to such uncomfortable setting. The room itself is a typical hotel room. The sink area is very small yet the shower/toilet room is big. Maybe they could put an extra vanity in there. Right now there are a lot of people here from Napa fires so I'm not sure how a family gets ready in the morning with such a small sink. The elevators were not working when we came so that was a hassle but they got them working again later on. The bar area is very nice and cozy. The pool is indoor and looks inviting. read more

I am the husband of this account holder and needed to post about my recent stay. This stay was for neither business or pleasure. I got a call my mother was dying and in hospice about 6 miles away. I didn't know how long I would need to stay. As you can imagine your entire mind is a mess. I could not have asked for a more caring and wonderful staff. They were kind as daily i came in at weird hours and extended my stay. This morning at 2 a.m. she passed. Once all the arrangements were made I went back to the hotel to hopefully get a few more hours of sleep, they told me to not worry about the check out time, get the sleep I needed. Recently booked a room for a friend from out of town. He recently had undergone chemotherapy for cancer and I thought a visit would do him some good. Unfortunately, he had some complications due to the treatments and told me 3 days out here wouldn't be able to make it. I contacted the hotel, who explained they couldn't provide a refund. I elevated the request, explaining the situation. I was again told they refused to refund my booking, even though it was 3 days out. The room was only $140 per night, for two nights. I was very disappointed seeing the room and hotel conditions comparing for the price I had paid. The hallways and elevators are so run down and old. Carpets really need to be changed. Room needed some updates too. The part that really bothered me was that the carpet area in front of the sink was all wet, not sure what it was but it was gross standing on it. This place was old/tired...but the hotel admits it and is working towards a full renovation in 2020...nice! They even replaced the AC unit during our visit. Took less than 30 minutes. The room was quiet and the shower worked well. The location makes it a bit "loud" outside, but you know that staying this close to Walnut Creek. We'll be back another time. We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Pleasant Hill for four nights, just after Christmas. My husband and I were extremely impressed with their location, services and amenities. I love that the hotel is located near a variety of shopping and restaurants. We could walk across the street and have access to coffee, movie theaters, local restaurants and shopping. My husband walked over to Great Clips, which was practically in the parking lot of the hotel, for a haircut. It was nice to be able to walk instead of drive. The rooms were comfortable and well maintained. Housekeeping brought us up a microwave and a fridge. The concierge was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. If we ever visit California again, we would come back and stay here. read more

Pleasant Hill is a long way from downtown, but sometimes this is the only place to get. Get off at Pleasant Hill station and Uber it to the hotel. Take the 18 bus back in the morning. This hotel is recently remodeled, the rooms are comfortable and functional. Some have balconies, request that if you like balconies. Typical Courtyard with the Bistro bar and restaurant. Indoor pool looked nice too. There are shops across the street and the area is very suburban. read more

Being a coffee adict from Seattle, it is disappointing that they dont offer complimentary coffee at all. Instead you have to buy coffee from them that is actually more expensive than Starbucks. The reason for the five stars is because of Daisy who works the cafe. I have worked in hospitality for over 10 years and I think it's safe to say its hard to impress me. Daisy has a great attitude, works extremely hard and cares about her job. She tells everyone to have a great day.... even if she is busy bussing tables. She is something special! read more

Worst service I have had at any Marriott Booked here through company, arrived and room was 86 degrees .I called front desk who sent housekeeping who could not fix instead opened the door and got it to 83. Then left to deliver towels to the pool . 20 more minutes and no return so I called front desk who said they were booked and I said fine I can go to another hotel, the front desk clerk said I will try and call engineering who is off and would call back. Still sitting her at 8pm . 3 hours after check in. Since it's company booked I can't book another hotel without them cancelling reservation. Housekeeping said I could leave door open to cool off ?? Really?? I would give them no stars if I could .. do not go here - another person next to me said their room won't cool down either . I have gold status and I had already checked in on the mobile app the night before. However, when I arrived to get the keys to my room, they told me that they were overbooked tonight?! Then they said that my only option was to stay at the Clarion Hotel nearby but when I checked it's ratings it showed that it had only 3 stars and recent reviews stating that there were holes and bugs in people's rooms. This is absolutely ridiculous having to deal with this. Do not recommend this hotel that condones such practices, especially to higher status members. read more

I am so happy with our stay here. The staff went above and beyond to make our unique experience a great one. My daughter just had a birthday and a couple of her close friends planned a surprise get together for her at the park. Well, the weather spiked above 100 degrees and I suggested that we move it to to a hotel where they could swim and I could order pizza so they could keep cool instead. So I dropped the girls off and went to pick up my daughter who thought we were having a "mommy and daughter relaxing night." I had arranged to pull up and keep the car on so she would stay in the car while I supposedly "checked in." The front desk staff totally went along with it and my daughter just thought I checked in for the first time. Then we walked to the room and her best friends surprised her! It was awesome!!! Darius, at the front desk was so sweet. He got my daughter's name and had a very sweet employee (I didn't catch her name but I wish I had!) bring a yummy mini cake and birthday card wishing her a happy birthday! She was so happy! The fact that he did that just shows how outstanding his customer service is and just how nice he was to do that for her! I also loved the fact that even though my girls were playing in the pool and laughing and being teenage girls even in the later hours, the staff was understanding. The pool was nice too! We had lots of fun swimming and just hanging out in the pool and patio area. The room was clean and comfortable. Beds were really comfy. The air conditioner was AMAZING!!!!!! The only thing that I wasn't 100% happy about was apparently the downstairs neighbors complained about us walking to loud at around 11 so the front desk staff on duty came to the room to tell us. The only walking at that time was maybe to go to the bathroom. The floors must be very thin. So that's the only thing I wasn't thrilled about. If I knew we were jumping around or being loud I would totally understand but I know for a fact that we weren't being loud and to get a noise complaint about loud walking when it was only regular movement sucked. But other than that tiny detail everything was perfect and I would definitely stay here again!!!! Management, I hope you read this compliment on Darius' fantastic service. Normally, we do not have a problem at Courtyard Marriotts. We have stayed at so many. Hence, why we continue too. That being said, I was met with the WORST manager i've ever met. Her name was Lisa R. First she tried to say that she was the head manager, and then i asked if her name was "Katrice" as it said on the wall, and she goes "oh well, no she's out of town for the weekend so i'm the manager on duty" Then she was totally rude during my whole 2 HOUR CHECK IN. She ripped papers out of my hand, was snotty and then BLAMED THE CUSTOMER! She said she was going to "relocate" us to the Red Roof Inn (which, i'm sure you can imagine isn't a Courtyard-type place). She made ZERO effort to make the customer happy, and i will not be visiting this Marriott ever again as long as Lisa works there. read more

We stayed here for two nights over the summer and found the place enjoyable. The pool is in door (A big plus if you have small children who get cold easily), the rooms are clean, and the staff friendly. A major advantage of this place is the location. Courtyard that it shares a parking lot with CVS, and so you can pick up anything you missed when you packed. The hotel is also located within walking distance (less then a block) to a Sweet Tomato, Jack's (A restaurant that serves a mean breakfast), Peet's Coffee, and a bunch of shopping. Not mention Safeway is down the street so you can pick up some fresh fruit and snack for a trip to Marine World or on the way to Napa. The bad part of this hotel is the lack of food located within the hotel. I agree with the other guest that the food at the hotel is not only expensive but the quality is really lacking. All the items are reheated and not worth the price. I recommend going to Jack's if you want a sit down breakfast / lunch. read more

Great hotel! I stayed here Halloween night-- my friends and I wanted to stay at a nearby hotel close to Port Costa, and this place was about a 15 minute drive away. I'll keep it simple: The great: 1. New EVERYTHING. Well appointed rooms/suites. Very happy with the furniture, the beds, the kitchenettes were nicer than my newly renovated apartment. 2. The parking is easy and accessible. 3. The breakfast bar/brunch in the main building (Sunday we went) was AMAZING. I've never had a free hotel breakfast that was so good, and had so many different things to try: hashbrowns, eggs, Belgian waffles, granola, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, sausage, biscuits & gravy, etc.. you get the idea. The not so great? 1. I got a special rate for the night-- and when I looked at the door on our way out, i saw that it's $250 or so a night normally? (around that) That's a little rich for my blood out there in Pleasant Hill-- but I suppose if you're company is putting you there for temp housing, its not really a problem. The hotel is fairly average but upon reflection rates an additional star. During the late evening check-in the clerk was short, unwilling to be helpful during a credit card snafu. All of the other desk staff and cleaning help were courteous and accommodating. Several days after checkout we noted an item didn't make it home. We phoned the hotel and asked for a check of the room and lost-and-found. The hotel reported finding the particular item and would send it at our expense--not an unreasonable demand. A couple of days later the particular item arrived along with not yet missed articles. Well done Courtyard. We were disappointed to find there were no complimentary breakfast items. Instead, there is a limited restaurant and bar. To our surprise the hot breakfast was only somewhat over priced and of decent quality. Figure $15 per entrée and beverage so about $30 for 2 adults. Certainly more than the Original Pancake House and other nearby diners (one was cash only) but remember the concept of "convenience tax". Very nice hotel right off I-680 and Contra Costa Blvd, especially for those on business trips as was the case during President's Day Weekend (my school's speech and debate team). The room I was assigned to was very clean and comfortable and even included a small refrigerator. There are also convenient shops next door if you need something to eat or drink. read more

I am The Marriott chain's number one fan. They always have the best customer service out of any other hotel chain. I think the lobby of the Courtyard Marriott is super cute and modern. It's got a modern retro funky feel that makes you want to stay there and your hoping that charm Carrie's over Into the rooms but it doesn't. At first I thought it I was just getting out dated rooms because I renting through priceline or another discount app, but that's not the case either. I walked in and rented s room the other night, paid full price and got the suit and it's even worse than the priceline rooms. I mean its seriously in need of an overhaul. read more

This property is quite old. The room smell like smoke. The worst of courtyard I ever stayed. The people also not very helpful. I request a new room and I need to go down and pick up my key. When I was assuming they would know me since I only checked in about 5 minutes ago. I was waiting in front of the front desk and they don't even greet or ask me how can I help or anything. Very very very bad. The worst Marriott I ever been, and believe me I have been to many hotel. I spend almost 200 nights yearly staying at the hotel. So when I say it's bad. Means bad!!!! read more

I really like this hotel: the decor, the staff was friendly, easily accessible. We came back late each night and there was plenty of parking. I checked in at about 11pm and the front desk guy was really friendly and efficient. But I was surprised he was in a t-shirt with suspenders and lots of tattoos showing. My only complaint and would make me not stay here again is that the beds are really HARD! If you like hard beds this is the place for you but I like them soft. I did not sleep that well. read more

Stayed a couple of nights. The staff was very friendly. It is conveniently located in walking distance to the shops downtown. The beds were clean ask very comfortable. Although the room faced the street, there was not any noise in he might so was able to get a good nights sleep. The fitness area was ok. The equipment was ok. 2 treadmills and a basic. Dumbbell set with a portable bench. Just enough to get a decent road workout in. read more
