This review is for Lauren at the spa. I got my first ever facial from her a week or so ago (I did the nano, 75 mins) I really didn't know what to expect, but Lauren absolutely exceeded expectations. Not only was she so funny and made me feel incredibly comfortable, the entire experience was luxurious and wonderful. I was so relaxed after. I am going to update my review about the spa. It did get pretty bad during the Covid years, but thankfully, I'd like to say that spa does seem to be back to normal. My family went today to have a nice girls day. Cheers to 2026. We had planned the day about a month in advance and we're looking forward to it the entire time. Everyone who worked here was very nice and all of us really enjoyed our services (some had multiple) I do just need to say a warning. I've always know Lafayette was once a sundown town even though I grew up there and was hard to picture. So I expect certain people to act a way however it's gotten so much worse in recent years and we are white. So this is a warning to others. My sisters and I were in the hot tub after one of our treatments and we had ordered a couple appetizers and a bottle of bubbles to enjoy. The staff was very nice and brought it out to us in the hot tub and obviously brought it in plastic wine flutes as they know as employees no glass is allowed. About an hour later, an employee or manager approached us and let us know. There had been a complaint about glass in the hot tub. We explained to her and no, this is from your hotel that we ordered (and spent over $100 after spending a lot of money in the spa) and then she asked to verify that we were residence of the hotel and we explained yes we are doing the spa. I want to again state, This is nothing against the employees there. We clearly knew the lady was doing her job. A couple of us get out to go into the locker room to shower and change for dinner that we are going to have on the property (again money to the Park Hotel) and we noticed in the shower area, the swimsuit of a lady who was in the hot tub with us hanging by the shower. She is nowhere in the locker room and my friend notes "she is the one who complained and she must be getting a service right now" We realize that while we were in the hot tub chitchatting amongst ourselves, we brought up two points. 1) is the orange turd going to die this year and 2) why is all a certain type of people posting bad reviews on the Stranger Things episode where Will comes out to people - and SPECIFICALLY said we don't understand why people hold so much hate in their hearts and spend energy on it (this becomes ironic in a bit) While we didn't spend a lot of time talking about either of these, and they're not in excessively political, the lady I will name "Karen" in the hot tub (yes she looked like one) clearly was angry with the conversation the three of us were having and wanted to " get us in trouble" Meanwhile a man in the hot tub was super cordial and even joined in on our convo on airline preferences So this note is just straight for the Karen. We all grew up in Lafayette and we don't need your hate and toxicity in it really. I so really hope that you're not from our area and we're just visiting and staying at the hotel. Wonderful service, food was excellent and delicious!! From the appetizers, highly recommend the crab cakes and the calamari. My sister and I shared a bistro greens salad, it was refreshing and delicious with many layers of greens, fruit and crunch. I ordered the pan seared halibut and it was perfectly seared, light and fresh. I fell in love with the flourless chocolate cake from a previous dinner and was excited to order again. I have been going to this restaurant for the last 10 years for lunch and breakfast with groups and with family. In the last seven or eight months, the food has been extremely disappointed. Their grilled cheese sandwiches for which they have been famous no longer have the variety and quantity of cheeses they have been known for and they are not grilled with a toasty finish. The crust on their quiches are no longer flaky and buttery, but have a different texture altogether. The quality of their omelettes have diminished... They are no longer fluffy and light, but dense and dry. The service staff are excellent and do a wonderful job, but I believe their chef is not doing the job that we previously expected. I recommend that the Yelp send out a team to review this wonderful restaurant as it has put forth a lot of money to redecorate this beautiful hotel restaurant... But is no longer the great experience you expect. read more

Although I've lived in the area for 10+ years, I've never stayed at the Lafayette Park Hotel. My husband and I had an excellent Valentine's staycation here. The front desk crew was super friendly and informative. The room we had was very spacious with a king sized bed and a view of the courtyard. Room service was from the restaurant on the property. The French onion soup was amazing and I also enjoyed the pancakes the following morning. Friendly and quick service to our room. We had a quiet and relaxing evening and would definitely stay here again. I wish I had more time to enjoy all the amenities but will do that next time. It appears they host corporate events as well which could be a nice luxurious option for a business event. read more

I booked with this Hotel last minute. During check-in, the lovely ladies working the front desk were absolute gems. Extremely friendly and gave some pointers to elevate my short stay. The Hotel grounds are sparkly clean and so was the room. The whole experience is truly breathtaking. The antique style is gorgeous and exactly what I enjoy. Some of the positives were: the room was already chilled when walking in after a hot summer day. The AC is perfectly quiet as to not disturb my sleep. Not quite sure which star to give because this review is not about the Lafayette Park Hotel itself. The low star is for the wedding planning experience. I'm writing this review purely to provide insight and help future brides-to-be. I canceled my first venue because it was stressful as I had to piece mail every detail. I also thought, "It's the Lafayette Park Hotel, we're in good hands here." Rose Ventura was in charge of our big day, and while my wedding turned out to be the best day of my life, she unfortunately made the planning process very stressful. There were countless oversights along the way and I had to reach out to her for any progress updates. Rose double-booked my rehearsal and blamed the mistake on me. It was classic gaslighting. She even tried to shift the blame to me and my fiancé, then later back-peddled and saying, "I thought you had your rehearsal (at a different location) in June." 1. Why would I have a rehearsal in a different location? 2. Our wedding was in August 2025. Why would I have the rehearsal 2 months prior to the wedding? My fiancé and I had multiple conversations with her about his demanding work schedule and how difficult it would be for him to get the Friday, before the wedding, off for the rehearsal (our wedding was on a Saturday and we chose Saturday with a Friday rehearsal in mind. All of this was discussed in front of Rose.) When the double booking the day before our wedding, I brought her boss Kim Moraga in on the issue, yet did not hear from Kim, not even once. Throughout the planning process, Rose often told me "no," that the hotel "doesn't do that," or that's "not included in the Paris package." However, when I brought the same requests up again at a later time, her answer sometimes changed. This happened time and time again. For example, early on I asked about a "His and Hers" cocktail list, and she told me my package didn't offer that. A month out,, when I finally managed to meet with her in person, after repeatedly having to chase her down for communication or updates, she suddenly said, "Oh, I can get you that if that's something you'd like." I asked for that option two months ago and she said it wasn't possible...the communication lacked from booking the venue in February 2025 up until the day of. While the day itself turned out beautifully, the lead-up was far more stressful than it needed to be, and I wish the planning experience had matched the quality of the venue. This experience was definitely not something to be expected for the price tags we paid at the Lafayette Park Hotel. Do yourself a favor and do not have Rose or her boss, Kim Moraga, plan your special event. They don't care. read more

We did not know that the restaurant closes in the afternoon and came in for a late lunch. We were seated in the bar which offers a very limited menu. Our mistake. The spit is very cozy especially on a rainy day. It has a fireplace and is very inviting. The food was good. Will go back during regular lunch hours to enjoy more options. read more

Went for a spa day we booked massages. We are spending the night. The sweet girl at the pool wasn't of age so she couldn't serve alcoholic drinks so you would need to wait for a manager if you wanted one. This wasn't ideal but not my main issue. My friends had called ahead to order their meal so it was ready before they arrived to the pool. Then upon sitting down checked in with the server and they said they would put in the order and it would be ready in about 20 min so that would give about 20 minutes to eat before the massage. 40 min later it was delivered as they were walking into the spa. The manager seemed irritated and I asked him to re order the food for after the massage. He said I could do that myself seeming non apologetic. Then stating they don't take pre orders which would have been an hour an 15 min in advance. I told him regardless if you do or don't your staff took the order and then we had to Re order in person and it still wasn't out at the appropriate time. Again he seemed like it wasn't his problem Spa is cute, nice massage, small pool, rooms were clean and very nicely updated My rating is based mostly opinion the management of the hotel and for the price you pay you don't need to get rude late or incompetent service read more

We've driven past this legendary Bay Area hotel for the past two decades and always tried to imagine the luxury within. We've been lucky enough to have stayed at the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa (a sister property) several times and always felt like it was the total splurge in elegant California hospitality. So finally we had a chance to spend one night, and it not exaggeration when I say praise jebus it's only one night. Let me put it this way, we haven't even gone to bed or checked out yet and we wish we could get a do-over on our decision to stay here. It would have been better to maintain the illusion in our minds of the hallowed "luxury." The general take away is how dated and in need of a facelift everything seemed. From the wood floors outside the elevators, to the old elevators, to the room carpeting, to grandmas stained and worn room furniture and furnishings, to the not really big enough for bathing in bathtub, to the not even cool enough to be retro sink fixtures. All of it is just kind of shabby and nowhere near the quality you would expect from the cost of a nights stay here. The bed was also disappointing. First glance it looked like your standard hotel bed with crisp sheets, duvet, and all hospital corners. But after 5 minutes reclining I found my body sinking unevenly in some places while feeling supported in other spots. My head felt lower than my torso, like I was lying head down on a slight incline. So much so that I had to stuff the ironing board under the mattress to try to even things out. The irregularities persisted the more we looked around. Or sniffed around. The first impression of the room was a general musty odor. Like the room needed an airing out or dehumidifier. Again, a grandmas house vibe. When we opened the windows for some fresh air, we also noticed there were no screens in the windows (we're from the East Bay and can speak with authority on our mosquitos and flys). And I'm not sure if there was supposed to be one, but our room had no directory book or room service menu. Also, was the toilet tissue holder with the opening facing the direction you pull so that the roll falls off every time you pull installed by a sadist? I'd like to note that the interaction with staff on checkin was professional and pleasant. So no complaints there. Likewise, we did not eat or have drinks at the hotel, so we can't comment in that regard. I'm not trying to beat up on the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa. We really wanted this stay to be great. We went into this short stay with every expectation that we would be striking gold. Unfortunately, we struck out instead. read more

Really weak experience from a to z. Starting from check in being difficult. We have a suite but the layout is so strange and the tv is miles from the bed; many of the channels don't work; and the remote didn't work either. The room has not been updated in decades and the ceilings are low and makes the ancient looking room feel small. The location is top notch but the rooms and electronics need a major overhaul in order for me to come back. I only dealt with a couple of staff members and was disappointed with them. read more

We started in a room with tons of freeway noise, asked to move and one option was to be near a "loud dog daycare" or the cemetery. We chose cemetery, fine. We move to the room, that is not listed on the hallway room guides. We walk around and around, through messy construction sites and double doors that are closed. We find our room, ok, looks nice. I take a shower. Found a few long hairs in it. The shower handle falls off the wall, hurts my hand. We use the main light in the room, it flickers and flashes in a strobe like way. We go to bed. The shower rack rattles all night long like a train is passing by. Overall not a pleasant experience. No turn down service, fyi. They did credit me for parking, but that's a stupid fee this hotel that's only steps up from a motel, shouldn't charge. read more

We spent my birthday weekend at this boutique hotel and from the moment we stepped onto the grounds, the stay was magical! We checked in on 1/24 and the front desk staff was so accommodating and kind! We were upgraded to a room with a fireplace and vaulted ceilings and it was so pretty! We then explored the grounds-- it felt like we were in another country altogether! I could imagine being in the French countryside! The spa experience we had with Katie as my massage therapist and Natasha as my partners esthetician was superb! Highly recommend the spa! We had dinner at the Bistro and had Gavin as our server and he was delightful! Very engaging and attentive to our needs the entire dinner. I ordered the rib eye (chef's kiss) and my partner had the Park burger. Everything was cooked to perfection! If you are looking for a relaxing weekend getaway, or a day spa experience, I HIGHLY recommend this adorable hotel! We can't wait to visit their sister properties for a romantic weekend away! My son got married July 20th at a venue near this hotel. The wedding was at 4 pm but check in was 4 pm as well. They were very accommodating when I called and were able to get us checked into the hotel early. The staff was all very nice and professional. Even the next morning as I was getting some very good coffee they asked me about the wedding and if I enjoyed myself. Rooms were very clean and the bed was spacious and comfortable to me. It's not really walkable to anything, and there are no grounds to speak of, but the building itself is stylish and well-maintained. The pool is large, and the adjacent area elegant. The pool was not terribly well heated at night, but during the day the sun warmed it up a bit, and I found it delightful. The room impressed, with two huge beds and a giant screen TV. I didn't see a microwave, but it had a large fridge that, unlike most hotels, wasn't jammed with stuff for sale -- it was just empty for us to use as we liked. Service was very good, consistently so. At one point, our door lock didn't work, and maintenance was there in less than a few minutes to fix it. We went to the restaurant a couple of times. Food was good, but the prices were a bit high. This isn't a cheap place, but I felt there was enough luxury to justify the price and would go again. read more

It's a nice hotel but the wedding party that was there with unruly children at our check in and then loud wedding party guests trudging through the halls after 12:30 pm at night was frustrating. The staff at the check in desk were nice other than Melinda. She was very condescending on the phone when I called for help. Christopher was nice. But screaming unruly children taking their shirts off on the stair well as we walked to our room was a horrible first impression. Hotel staff did nothing about it. I liked our room but I will not return. The restaurant could not handle the crowds of people between normal guests and wedding guests. It was a cluster. I do not recommend coming here for holidays such as Mother's Day. It took and hour to get a dinner on a Saturday night with reservations. Staff are nice but it just seems chaotic everywhere. I called to get help but they don't care to help and expect you to call back instead of take a message for manager to return call. I wanted to enjoy this stay but it was a circus! read more

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots for brunch and dinner. They have a great outdoor patio and the food is delicious. There is plenty of parking and the service is great! The Ora king salmon is served with crispy shallots, corn, green beans, cherry tomatoes and a pistachio arugula pesto and is one of my favorite salmon dishes of all time. Had the BEST time for Valentines Day at the Lafayette Park Hotel! The service from April at the front desk was especially superb, she catered to all my needs and deserves all the recognition! She truly made our stay the best time. The room was gorgeous, location is perfect with easy access to downtown. The amenities are clean and well kept. Like a slice of heaven in my hometown. I can't believe I'd never been. Parking was easy and all staff was very friendly and helpful. You didn't see one face of any employee not smiling and greeting you anywhere you go. I would absolutely recommend this place to friends visiting the area. So calm and serene. read more

I had the body polish treatment with Crystal and she was AMAZING. I was running a little late and felt bad about it, but she was so kind and professional and made me feel totally at ease. She didn't rush anything at all--in fact, it felt like she took even more care to make sure I got the full experience. The treatment itself? Unreal. My skin feels insanely soft--like, actual velvet. Crystal was warm, friendly, and just really, really good at what she does. I walked out feeling relaxed, refreshed, and honestly kind of glowing. Can't recommend her enough. Tammy and Kevin took me to Mother's Day brunch here today. We used to meet at the Duck Club and their other restaurant for special occasions before the pandemic, when Alan was alive. As a matter of fact, one of my birthday photos was taken there, the profile photo w/ me behind a dessert w/ a birthday candle on it. Tammy made 1:30 reservations. She was given the choice of that or 11:00 and, knowing I sleep late, she thoughtfully chose the later time. When I arrived I parked in the garage and texted her that I was there. I took the elevator up and saw tables of desserts w/ people clustered around them. I was greeted by staff members and then Tammy and Kevin came in from the lobby, where they had been waiting for me. We were led to a table for four. There were long tables loaded w/ salads, cheeses, cold cuts, crab claws and shrimp and assorted other dishes, like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, Eggs Benedict and something else that looked like a Benedict, but was different. There was also, on another table, Beef Wellington, cioppino, rolls and an omelet station. I had champagne to drink and Tammy had a Cosmo. Kevin had a Diet Coke. We went to the start of the line and filled our plates w/ small bits of most everything. I loved the beet salad. Tammy did too and raved about the strawberry salad, which was out when I went back for it. I had some cheeses and cold cuts and a Benedict, which had a perfectly runny egg, impressing both Tammy and me. The shrimp and crab claws were excellent. Truth be told, everything was fresh and flavorful. I went back for seconds and had scrambled eggs, a strip of bacon, more beet salad and a little bit of Beef Wellington, which was good. I couldn't have much more than that, so I skipped the cioppino and didn't have a second Benedict or more cheese or cold cuts.. Kevin had a cookie, pecan pie and a macaron or two. I had a bit of his cookie and some macarons, which were tiny and good. The food was excellent and I was full enough that I skipped dinner completely. read more

I live near by.. and this is my go to spot for a "staycation". It's actually pretty beautiful, I feel transported to some where serene and peaceful. It feels like you are away on a holiday even though it's about 17 minutes from our home in oakland. The pool and hot tub are perfect. Hot tub is hot, they keep it nice and hot to soothe away any worries. The pool area is relaxing and tranquil. I've not tried the spa, but I intend too soon! Our room was cozy and clean. With vaulted ceilings and an electric fireplace. The bar is fantastic, with pleasant, witty service. The food is actually quite good at the restaurant. I'd come here for dinner even without being a hotel guest. This place is perfect for a getaway. It's on the expensive side but very worth the price. I also recommend it for anyone with bougie out of town guests. I love it here. And can't wait for an excuse to come back and stay again soon. read more

Standouts were the appetizers: delicious and tender grilled octopus and the tomatoes and burrata salad was amazing. This is like a common old fashioned cute hotel. The hotel is big and nice although it isn't in the best location the space makes up for that. They have all the amenities you could want and the rooms are very big. The bathrooms are a decent size and there are a bunch of lotions and moisturizer samples. The shampoo are in big containers and have nice scents. The shampoo is mint, the body wash is lemon grass and the conditioner is also mint.I personally love those flavors but the mint can sting min your eyes and isn't great for babies or younger kids. The water pressure is light which I like but some people might not. The beds are nice and have nice backboards but are a little soggy and uncomfortable for two people. There is a nice elegant desk and chairs as well as the room bring a very big size with tall ceilings. The closet is the perfect size for someone who is staying for a week and there is a TV in the room but it doesn't have cable TV which is annoying. The food I didn't get to try because for the room service the person was coughing and she said the wait was at least an hour for the food. read more

Stayed there this weekend. We had two rooms and spent the bulk of the time poolside. Likes: Great staff and service. The property is well kept but not snooty. Halibut at dinner was a stand out. Robert who helped us with our luggage at checkin was smooth and professional. You can opt out of housekeeping (but don't forget to tip the poor staff who miss out). Terrific water pressure in the rain showers. Dislikes: they charged us for self parking on the property. In the suburbs? That is bullshit bilking tourists. We dropped a couple of grand there, but the $$100 added for parking really left a bad taste. There was no mention of this until we found it on the bill. It strikes me as a cash grab. Also, the pool is small and 4 ft deep, so consider it a dip pool. read more
