We took our 10 year old to have some baby teeth extracted. The consultation made her feel really comfortable about the appointment. she still had the typical nervousness that very normal the day of the appointment. He let her keep her blanket and stuffed animal for the procedure. After the anesthesia wore off she was feeling back to herself and zero pain the following days. I really appreciate Dr. Han and his staff. My only honest feedback was for them to check their appointments and when a staff member last talked to a patient when it comes to setting and confirming appointments since I had 2 calls that were confusing. I'm having some issues with my mouth and needed to talk to a specialist. Having done a lot of research on people to talk to, Dr. Han was recommended so I gave it a shot and came here. Not only did I see Dr. Han at my scheduled time (instead of waiting 40 minutes like a lot of other doctors in the area) but he spent a total of 50 minutes with me going over my issues. He recommended another specialist in the building and even walked down with me to go see them. He kept saying "I'm very honest, not trying to be rude..." which I never felt at all - tell people what they need to know, not what they want to hear. I hope I'll be able to use Dr. Han with some of my mouth issues, after spending a little time with him I absolutely trust him. read more

I had a difficult wisdom tooth extraction by another office which ended up with a complication that Dr. Han fixed. Unlike the previous office, I was thoroughly impressed with the communication, care, and expertise I experienced. The doctor personally explained to me and showed me how to clean my wound (which the last office didn't...). His office provided detailed instructions on aftercare, called me multiple times to follow up, and were easy to reach whenever I had any questions. The service was honestly day and night between the other fancy office I originally went to and my wisdom tooth area is now much better! That review is a load of lies as Dr. Han actually advised me first to see a root channel specialist as there was a chance at saving my tooth thus losing out on $$$. I declined, went with extraction, and could not have been more pleased with his expertise (Not only has his practice in Pleasant Hill been there for over a decade, but he does trauma work at John Muir. The expertise of Dr. Han can't be beat. His UCSF and Mayo Clinic training are put into action. I came in for an implant. He examined my mouth, told me I didn't have to have an implant just because the crown had come off and the tooth was worn down. It had a healthy root and I felt no pain because of a root canal. I am 82 years old. The tooth doesn't show. As he said, it wasn't necessary. He wasn't out to make the last dollar but considered my mouth. Money for me wasn't a factor. This was a second opinion because the first oral surgeon was arrogant. I didn't want him touching my mouth to put an implant in as he wanted to do My podiatrist recommended Dr. Han. Had to travel further to see him but it was well worth it. read more

My orthodontist referred me here with my panoramic X-ray. Dr. Han didn't bother to look on my X-ray. Instead, he asked me to pay $300 to do CT scan at his office. I came here to find out how much would be my surgery cost for impacted tooth extraction. He was telling me it's too risky to do it. He was proposing to change the treatment plan given by my orthodontist & keep the impacted teeth. Extract my front teeth instead and do Invisalign combine with metal braces. Are you kidding me? I came here in the middle of pandemic hoping to save money. But you just charged me a total of $450 for an advise that didn't make sense at all. So I got a second opinion from the other surgeon who is an experienced OMS who was able to perform the original treatment plan prescribed by my orthodontist. This goes to show that James Han doesn't have the necessary experience & MORE MOTIVATED by the FINANCIAL BENEFITS that he will achieve by altering the original treatment plan by my orthodontist. Dr Han wasn't very professional and the experience was very unorganized. My sibling and I got our wisdom teeth removal almost a week or two apart and Dr Han and his staff failed to provide proper care. First, they didn't provide me with the necessary information in preparation for my surgery. He showed me the guidelines and said he provided the information but he didn't. He assumed it was given to me because they were supposed to. When I told Dr Han this, he apologized for not giving it to me but blamed me for not knowing what to expect and what to keep in mind about the surgery like it was self explanatory. I had a slight cold and he didn't let me do the surgery. He said something along the lines of, "Well I could've had another patient do their surgery in this appointment time frame. I lost money." When I came back for my follow up appointment after the surgery, my sibling also went with me. They checked up on my healing and gave me a syringe to flush out the food that got stuck. They told me I had to do that to clean it out. My sibling noticed and said she wasn't informed about the after care and wasn't aware she had to do that. Dr. Han gave her a syringe too during my appointment. By then hers was already almost fully healed. She wasn't able to flush out the food in the holes like I did. I think because we were siblings, they didn't make sure to give us both the proper procedures. Dr. Han has a problem taking responsibility and seems immature about it. I did not like the experience and I hope no one else gets the same experience. Make sure to be proactive and make sure Dr. Han doesn't forget anything or be condescending to you or your children. From the consult, he was very informative, went into great detail about how my procedure would go, he made me feel very comfortable and allowed me to ask any and all questions. He walked me through how the procedure would go, he calmed my anxiety. I had a tricky wisdom tooth removal, one that no other oral surgeon would attempt due to the risks. Dr. Han was aware why and felt confident he could achieve the procedure and sure enough he did and I haven't had any of the negative outcomes. Be careful here. I called to have a loose tooth removed (not a molar) and was told by this office to get a dentist referral first. They referred me to another office in the same complex to get an X-ray of the tooth. The technician placed a heavy X-ray sensor weighing a pound or more on the broken tooth itself. The X-ray showed infection. The tooth had been infected for about two weeks. I waited for another two days for the Pleasant Hill office to open to make an appointment to get the infected tooth removal. The same Pleasant Hill oral surgery office told me that they would not be able to see me until mid-December! Using the same dentist referral I had the tooth removed by a good dentist in another city. However, they also took an X-ray. So I paid for an X-ray twice. So there are good experienced dentists around, but you have to search from them. The virus precautions were very good in both offices. For the thirty years I lived in Concord, my experience has been that the dental offices in this city are very poor. They are looking for the big bucks from cosmetic surgery so watch your wallet. Also, these vagrant dentists are typically here for only a few years and then move away: only in one case I have used the same dentist twice so I have no long-term recorded dental history. The dental business in Concord looks like the auto repair businesses along Monument blvd..Buyer beware because you are only a buyer! read more

Woohoo. I just got 3 wisdom teeth removed about 7 hours ago, and I feel great! Rewind: My regular dentist and I were "monitoring" my wisdom teeth for the past few years and in August, he expressed concern because one tooth was boring into the neighboring one... and then he said both of the teeth may have to be removed. I was like.. whut. So then, I went to see Dr. Han, and Rita (front desk shout out!) was very accommodating about getting me an appointment. 2 weeks later, I returned to get my teeth pulled out. They gave me clear instructions (written and oral) throughout the whole process and I appreciated that during whole experience, Dr. Han narrated what he was doing .. up to the point where I was out. I also appreciated that the amount of anesthesia wasn't super invasive and although I was warned that I would be groggy and wouldn't remember anything in the next 6 hours, I felt very alert when I came out of it and I still remember what happened. My mouth is dull-y sore, (AND NOT SUPER SWOLLEN), and I've taken 2 advil since getting back, but my gauze is out, and I'm just chilling, icing my cheek, and drinking tea and writing this yelp review. I don't like using strong medication but I was willing to if it was painful, but I doubt I'll have to use the stuff they prescribed. (They also thoughtfully gave me the prescription early so that I could have everything ready *before* the day of surgery). PS: I'm friends with his wife but I bet he works this well with everyone! read more

Dr. Han is an OUTSTANDING oral surgeon. I still had my bottom wisdom teeth in after experiencing a bad dentist back in the day. I then was turned away from many oral surgeons claiming the procedure was too risky because the teeth were on a nerve so there was a possibility I could lose feeling in my mouth. 10 years later I was finally told that they absolutely had to come out and someone I know recommended me to Dr. Han and I'm SO HAPPY he did. I highly recommend you use a different Oral Surgery office. This office made many errors. They failed to communicate all the costs up front before my surgery and sprang them on me after. They also failed to tell me much of the cost could have been covered if I went through my medical insurance instead of my dental insurance. The Dr. failed to tell me that after the surgery there will be a hole in my gums for up to 3 months! It was a horrible experience that cost $1000 out of pocket and I would never visit this office again. read more

HISTORY I have a long history of dealing with dental problems. Around 5 years ago I had a string of wisdom teeth extractions from a highly reputable OMS in the East Bay. I thought his service was great, but I had significant complications afterward which ended up in 8-9 visits and ultimately surgery to extract two more molars. EXPERIENCE Fast forward a few years later, I didn't want to go back to my original surgeon because of my past experience. Dr. Han's practice was introduced to me by a friend who had a great experience with implants. Wow was I impressed. After being served by 3-4 oral surgeons, Dr. Han was by far the most efficient and precise dr I've met. Not only was every procedure explained clearly and concisely, Dr. Han never seemed to fumble or search for an answer, and was very confidant in his execution. RECOVERY This is the highlight. I had two implants around 3pm in the afternoon, took one advil, and was basically pain free by 9pm that night!! Considering that my previous procedures took 3 days to a week for recover, this is simply amazing. Tremendous service. To give you a little history, I have not been able to get dental work done in a very long time, due to the lack of insurance and funds overall. I have been shamed in the past at dental offices and dental surgery facilities, and it definitely added to the stress of this visit. However, Dr. Han and his staff has far exceeded my expectations. I was referred to him by Dr. Mark Wong, my dentist. I will break this down by visit. 1st Visit: Meeting the Doctor. He reviewed my x-rays and agreed with me the tooth was not worth saving. He scheduled me an appointment for extraction, and went over my options for an implant, which is the way I want to go. This will require more steps, such as doing a bone graft to prepare for an implant in the following months. He was more than willing to work with me and understood that insurance coverage per year is limited and had a plan to stretch out procedures according so the least will come out of pocket. On top of all of that, he went over every detail with me, and what the rest of the procedure (specifically the concerning Sinus Membrane) entailed as well. There will be no sticker shock when it comes time. When I was ready to go, he showed such concern since this tooth had long bothered me, and wrote me a prescription just in case, and even offered to do the extraction on his lunch if it became unbearable. How many people do you know that would offer that? I can tell you, not many. He knew from our conversation that I feared pain most of all due to bad experience, and was completely confident that I would not experience any pain during the procedure and that while they offer partial anesthesia, he assured me I would not need it. 2nd Visit: My extraction. I had this procedure yesterday, and I'm writing this review with 0 pain. I got into my appointment, and was seated immediately. I was walked through every step as it happened. Dr. Han even asked my permission for a student to observe. I'm 100% fine with this doctor teaching ANYONE. He's great. The whole thing took less than 20 minutes!! As soon as I was numb, he got to work. This was a molar, and they can be tricky to get out, but he got most of it on the first tug, and the rest out right after. All in all, my experience was amazing, but that's not even the best part. Not only was I called right away to confirm my follow up appointment the following week, but Dr. Han, (Not an assistant, or a receptionist) called me himself. He checked on me, asked if my bleeding had stopped and if I was in any pain. I am blown away. If I could give 100 stars I would. After having tooth pain for so long, I feel brand new. Office Staff: Everyone is courtesy, and kind. They call me to verify appointments, and I even got a call the week before my procedure to see if I wanted to come in earlier since their had been a cancellation. How considerate. I'm not typically one to write Yelp reviews, but I would recommend Dr. Han to anyone and everyone! I got all 4 wisdom teeth removed by him 3 weeks before my 21st birthday. I was really worried because most people I know got theirs out at age 16 and the longer they are in, the more the roots develop. Dr. Han is extremely informative and honest with his patients. I was first thinking of only getting the bottom two removed, but he suggested getting all four because the top two could have caused problems later on. He also informed me that the roots from my lower wisdom teeth were wrapped around the nerve and one was extremely crooked, and it would be a difficult procedure. Dr. Han is very cautious. The x-ray that my dentist provided him was over a year old, so he chose to take a new one during my consultation so that way he knew exactly how much the root had grown since the previous x-ray. After the surgery, he told me that he was able to remove the entire tooth, not leaving any roots behind, and he said that from what he knows of other oral surgeons, they would have probably left some of the root behind. I experienced little pain and minimal swelling post surgery, although that could be because I was taking a lot of pain medicine. Dr. Han is also extremely caring, he gives his patients his cell phone number so that they can text him with any questions. Dr. Han is an amazing, phenomenal surgeon and I highly recommend him to anyone who needs oral surgery! read more

I don't think dr.Han is a bad dentist but unfortunately he made a mistake when I went to get my wisdom teeth removed. Before the extraction he was numbing my mouth and went to far with the needle. He hit a blood vessel that sent a shock to my eye. It was traumatic and painful but I pushed through because I needed my teeth removed and was half way there. I thought I was fine because he made it seem like it was no big deal. A week later I became concerned because the swelling on that side of my face didn't go down and it still hurt when I touched my cheek (which never happened with my last extraction years prior with another dentist). I went to the follow up appointment and he said the swelling has nothing to do with the extraction. He said the swelling was a result of the blood vessel being hit and could be a possible infection that occurred. Then he prescribed me some medication. Its just really unfortunate what happened, the medication that he prescribed came with a lot of side effects and the whole experience was just really traumatic and could have been avoided if he had just done a better job. I've been to all kinds of dentist, including many bad ones, but I've never had anyone do this kind of mistake. read more
