We ate at James Ranch today, been wanting to try this place for such a long time, and we finally…read morewere able to. First, the service was good, considering you had to wait in line to order, it went fast, then when your meal was ready you had to go up and get it and anything else you needed. So the cashier was super nice and so was the young man that cleared our table when finished, so that's the service. Excellent ambience for a nice day to eat outside. Clean tables, and no bugs to bother us. Plenty of room for kids to roam and you are able to bring your dogs. That's a plus! The reason I refused to give them a 5 was their food, which some was good some not so good, sure did not look like the pictures online. We had 4 people, 3 of us each got a different type of burger, the Green Chili burger, the Bacon Blue Cheese and the Bitty burger. Each burger's patty was overcooked and the Brioche bun, which drew me to the burgers I expected to be soft was extremely tough, very thick and dry... so in combination of the overcooked patty and the tough, not soft, bun it was not something I would want to order again, I ended up just taking my patty off the bun and not eating the bun, Very disappointed. My husband and son enjoyed the Roc fries with lots of ketchup, but again overcooked and dark. Some may like it that way. But not a fan and will pass on those next time. I would like to go back , maybe we went on an off day. If I go back, I will try something else as my son tried the BLT on the Focaccia Bread and he said it was excellent!

Loved the back outside area and it was wonderful to see so many family's with their puppers !! 11 out of 10

For 20 years my family and I have driven by James Ranch on our way to Haviland Lake, Purgatory,…read moreMolas Lake, Silverton, Ouray.......................... and have watched the ranch grow as we fly past on 550. We finally, recently stopped. Where do I start? First off the person who set up the store is a genius! When you walk in the front door of the store your senses are hit with the most relaxing aroma therapy wafting from the handmade soaps located just to your right. (Yes, it was the first thing I picked up!) As you move along the store you are treated to some of the most amazing local art. Earrings, blankets, handspun wool. But then there's the cooler. Filled with meats, cheeses, breads, sausages, just yummy, yummy, organic goodness. Then there's the book corner. (I had to limit myself at 5. THIS time.) I understand all the authors were local. (Actually even though James Ranch owners seem to have their bases covered with their own beef, pork, cheese "artists" they welcome local artists to showcase their art.) So back to the cooler. We ended up buying some of the chorizo. I love homemade chorizo and this did not disappoint. We also bought a roast that I cooked last night. I took all the praises from my family at how good that roast was. But at the end of the day I knew, there was NO WAY anybody could have screwed up that roast! We also ate while we at James Ranch. I almost feel sorry for any other burger I will ever eat again. The James Burger set a standard only Ramsey can beat. OH! I didn't even mention the deck!? Or the picnic tables on the lawn? Or the view of the cows grazing in the meadow while I drip juices from an organic beef burger on my face!? NOT sorry! OH! And shout-out to Adam who had to wait to close the store because we couldn't tear ourselves away from "the ranch" side of James Ranch. Guess we'll be back earlier in the day next time!
